Emilia Ward is a best selling author of a best selling murder series and has decided that it's time to kill off her main character. While writing her last of the series, Emilia's books begin coming to life and when events from the current novel she's writing start happening, she knows that someone close to her is responsible for the real life murders occurring!! Who can Emilia trust and will they kill off the author before she can find out?
The Woman Who Lied gets a slow start but does pick up throughout the book. There were some surprises but the build up drug on as did the story. This book is okay for a quick, easy read but keep your expectations low for a "thriller".
Thank you Netgalley and Harper Perennial and Paperbacks for e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good whodunit, especially when an author is involved. You never know if you can trust the people around them. The character dynamics and relationships were so interesting, I wanted to hear more and more about how everyone intertwined. I tend to make a guess at the beginning and like to see if I'm right. This book did a great job of trying to sidetrack me!

Emilia Ward is a bestselling crime novelist living a quiet suburban life—until scenes from her upcoming, unpublished book start happening in real life. When someone she knows dies in the exact way she wrote in her manuscript, Emilia realizes someone close to her is watching... and possibly orchestrating a deadly reenactment.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC!

I really enjoyed The Woman Who Lied! It pulled me in right away with a mysterious and slightly eerie tone that never really let up. The main character, a writer dealing with her own past while strange things start happening around her, felt realistic and relatable. I liked how the story slowly unraveled, there were creepy messages, secrets from the past, and a growing sense of paranoia that made it hard to put down.
The twists weren’t overdone, but they kept me guessing, and I honestly didn’t see the final reveal coming. It had just the right amount of suspense without being too dark or graphic. I also appreciated how the ending tied everything together in a satisfying way.

Did not read. Have way too many books on my shelf - need to cut back. Hoping to get to it in the future though.

Wait, this book SPUN ME!!!
It was so much going on, so many potential murderers, so many twists and truths. Emilia, my girl. She had me nervous as hell. I just knew she was going to end up dead in an ally somewhere.
What I will say is, the things happening in this book made her question her own reality, the people in her life and their intentions. I enjoyed the 3 POVs. You got Emilia's, Daisy's and the detectives.
There were so many blurred lines, you couldn't tell what was real and what isn't. But I will say, that one of my guesses regarding Ash was correct.
Floored.

Rounded up from 4.5 stars.
When I read this, I felt like my brain was going to explode!! I was so into the book that I had to keep putting it down to take a breather!! I will be following Douglas as she writes more books. I loved the mystery and I had such a fun time reading it, and I highly recommend everyone to read it

Thanks to Harper Perennial and Paperbacks and Claire Douglas for the chance to read ‘The Woman Who Lied'! Although there were some aspects that stretched my disbelief, in all I really enjoyed this book. There some parts that really shocked me and I did spend the whole book wondering what was going on (in a good way)! I immediately read another Claire Douglas work afterwards and will continue to read this author's books excitedly.

Claire Douglas is a queen. I have yet to come across a book of hers I did not love.
Emilia Ward has finished the last book in her series and is ready to be done with this chapter of her life. Writing Miranda Moody thrillers the past ten years has been great, but she is ready for a new endeavor. But when weird things start happening to her that have happened in her books, she starts to get spooked. But the last straw for her is realizing that things are happening to her that happened in her last book, the one that is not published. Who in her tight circle is doing this to her, and why?
The Woman Who Lied had such a fun and unique plot. I loved Emilia and all of the layers to her. I also enjoyed the side characters and their development. The ending kept surprising me, up to the last page and I did not guess any of it. I have no complaints, this was a five star read for me! I only wish I could read it again for the first time!

Complex characters, plot was top tier. I did not see it coming, I was questioning and Suspicious of all of them, hooked from the very start. On the edge of my seat waiting for the next clue. 🕵️♀️ Exactly what I want in a thriller!

This was fantastic—packed with a vivid cast of characters that felt authentic and multi-dimensional, and a gripping storyline full of mystery that kept me guessing and second-guessing everyone.
I was actually right with my first suspicion, but got thrown off and doubted myself. I enjoy being misled, though, especially when the journey is this entertaining. It was smartly crafted and brilliantly executed.

Books about books is my chef’s kiss. I love them. Add in an eerie element and I’ll eat it right up. What could be more creepy than real life starting to mirror your yet-to-be published book? I really enjoyed this one! I thought the plot was original and the characters were genuine. I couldn’t wait to figure out what was going to happen.

Fiction blends with reality when the events from an author’s book start happening in real life. Terrible things are occurring and no one can figure out why or who. Claire Douglas never fails to deliver an abundance of suspense and twists. Readers will be guessing right up until the last page. Fans of Ruth Ware and Alice Feeney will devour this one.

Great psychological thriller vibes and I will definitely reading more books by Claire Douglas!!!!!!!!

This slow burn was a little too slow for me. I found altering character perspectives along with that of the main characters book plot to be confusing. The repeated finger pointing was a bit much too. I kept reading, but this was a slog.

Emilia writes novels for a living, she has just finished her last in a series and is waiting for publishing. However, all these weird things begin to happen to Emilia, strangely enough they are things that happened in books she has completed and this unpublished work. Who is behind the harassment!?
Classic whodunit!? No one is safe from Emilia’s questions or her suspicions. I felt for Emilia, all these things she’s wrote about have started happening and she isn’t sure who’s guilty and who isn’t. I would have been questioning the dog at that point too, “you turn on that light switch!?” Super twisty and everyone’s guilty! Great read!!

Super pumped I was able to read the advanced reader copy of The Woman Who Lied! I love a good thriller and the vibe was right for this one. Thank you so much! I really needed a book to bring me out of my book slump.

She does it again! I am obsessed with Claire Douglas books and each one is better than the last. I thought this was a great book and kept me on the edge of my toes the entire time!

An engaging psychological thriller with plenty of twists that kept me wanting to pick up the book. At times, there was a lot going on, and it was a bit challenging to keep track of all the characters and shifting dynamics. Despite that, the suspense was well-maintained, and I genuinely didn’t guess the twists. While not flawless, it’s a solid read for fans of twisty thrillers with plenty of surprises. 3.75/5 ⭐️

I love a good physiological thriller. It has always been a good to of mine when I feel stuck in a reading slump. And this was the perfect choice. Claire Douglas did an excellent job with this book and it also had great plot Twists which I always love. Dont start this book at night because next thing you know the sun is coming up! I couldn't put it down! Thank you for the ARC!
