When I first saw the plot for this book, I was thrilled. I wanted to be immersed into small town, second chance romance. I was a little disappointed and I felt like the plot and characters were a little more boring than I hoped. It still was a solid book that I’ll revisit later on.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.
Title: Never Getting Back Together by Krysti Meyer
4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This rom-com is a delightful blend of humor, heart, and cowboy charm. With its quirky characters and laugh-out-loud banter, this book is a quick read, packed with sweet love and laughter.
In ‘Never Getting Back Together’, readers are whisked away to a small quaint town where our protagonist, Quinn , finds herself embroiled in a whirlwind of confusion and heartwarming moments when her old flame returns to town. Forced into close proximity with her ex , Ty , and stuck having to organise their small town’s Founder’s Festival, sparks fly as they navigate second chance romance amidst competition with one another and heart felt bitter over previous events leading to their separation.
What is interesting is that this story also had a new concept for me, the female character has to deal with a medical condition (one I had never heard of) which not only leads to her daily physical and mental traumas and struggles but also financial.
Mouthwatering food placements add an extra layer of flavor to their tumultuous journey (whilst reading this, I had to go and try to make my own version of mentioned food recipes!)
Quinn and Ty steal the show with their infectious chemistry and endearing immaturity. Their banter is as sharp as a cowboy's spurs. Supporting characters, including quirky (as well as very weird) community members and meddling family members, round out the cast with their colourful personalities and humorous antics, adding fun and dimension to the story.
At its core, Never Getting Back Together’ explores themes of forgiveness, self-discovery, and the healing power of love.
Through Quinn and Ty’s journey, the novel highlights the importance of embracing second chances and finding joy in life's unexpected twists and turns. The characters' daily struggles, both medical and financial, add a layer of authenticity to the story, making it relatable and compelling.
Krysti Meyer’s writing style is sharp, witty, and entertaining. Each page is filled with simple to follow, vivid descriptions, and hilarious situations that keep readers eagerly turning the pages.
‘Never Getting Back Together’ is a laugh-out-loud romp that will leave you smiling from ear to ear. With its charming characters, funny banter, and heartwarming romance, this book is a must-read for fans of rom-coms and cowboy charm.

“NGBT” is a delightful and heartwarming told from the first-person narrative of Quinn Kelley, a 21-year-old aspiring nutritionist who has a chronic health condition called MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). Circumstances force her and Ty Rossi, ex-boyfriend, college-goer and prankster, to work together to organise the town festival.
“Ty was my first love and such a huge part of my life. Not knowing him is like waking up one day to find out the sun didn't rise. How am I supposed to navigate the world around me without seeing how he fits into it? And, more importantly, do I even want to?”
This was a quick read, full of quite amusing banter and reasonably funny moments. Both Quinn and Ty felt somewhat shallow to begin with but as the story went on, I liked them. Especially Quinn’s passion for helping others drives her throughout the book – it is lovely to see her character grow and it is the most effective part of the story. Ty was initially not impressing me at all in terms of who he was as a person, I was like “Really? *This* guy is who you can’t forget??” – a prankster who nearly cost her future career because of a prank gone wrong? Bit red flag. But I warmed to him, especially after the dance. I would have liked Quinn to have opened up more about her struggles and to have had Ty support Quinn more especially when all things come to a head around Chapter 25.
The chemistry between them fell flat through most of the book, unfortunately, as they were mostly competitive or grumpy so not a lot of flirtatious moments. Though, during Chapter 17 I did genuinely find Ty’s efforts sweet. In fact, I was more rooting for the girls-supporting-girls moments between Quinn, her aunt Becky and cousin Liv than the romance!
I would have made this rating a 2 were it not for the character arcs and the excellent use of similes and metaphors. I mean take this example:
“My heart trips over itself like I'm a heroine in a Jane Austen novel when having a guy ask you to dance was akin to a marriage proposal.”
Absolute perfection! Krysti is a legend for mentioning Austen. There were so many good references to songs, TV shows and films: I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect!
Another great thing was Krysti’s raising awareness of MCAS which is a condition I don’t think I’ve heard of before. Krysti used her own experiences to put in her novel. Knowing people with chronic health conditions myself, it is more difficult for them to be both diagnosed and it is good that she emphasises this and shows the struggles of affording the medication.
I am honoured to have been selected as an ARC reader for this book, and I’d like to thank Krysti and Netgalley for the opportunity.

This is a Small town second chance romance of Quinn and Ty.
Quinn is at a summer pool party hosted by her cousin and best friend liv with her old classmates and she’s hoping to avoid her ex boyfriend Ty. They’d had a bad break up which is later revealed what happened. Because of this they were left on bad terms.
Quinn also has a chronic illness which effects her daily life and this is mentioned throughout the book and I loved how the characters supported her. She makes recipes which cater to dietary requirements to help others like herself.
The story really kicks off when Quinn and Ty are forced to work together to help with the towns festival after the person who usually runs it has to leave town. It becomes a bit of a competition between the two to gain the votes of the townspeople as to what happens for the festival. It’s through working together that Quinn realises she still has feelings for Ty but she can’t get over the reason they broke up no matter how many times he apologises.
I really liked the small town aspect to this story. I could easily picture the settings and loved how close the characters were however I didn’t feel a connection to Quinn and Ty’s relationship. It felt that Quinn didn’t really give Ty a chance to redeem himself. I liked the characters separately but felt they jumped back into a relationship too quickly after the years that had passed.

This book was so different compared to the other small town romance novels as there is no spice which is actually nice because sometimes the plot is so greatly written that it isn't needed. That is the case for this book because I loved the plot for Quinn and the vibe of Never Getting Back Together was so fun!

Here we follow Quinn and Ty, an aspiring nutrition counselor and architect respectively. When a messy break up occurs their senior year, Quinn and Ty want nothing to do with each other; even years later. As Quinn struggles her way through finishing her certification, and her chronic illness (of being allergic to almost everything) running into Ty is the last thing she needs. After running into each other our MC's find themselves volunteering to run the town festival. Will sparks be rekindled? Will Quinns up tight, controlling personality or Ty's childish pranks keep them apart? I will never find out (DNF @ 40%). I found this read difficult to get through. There were too many social media and pop culture references for my liking. Book tropes for this book include: Small town rom, Chronic illness rep, second chance rom, and forced proximity.

This was such a cute read! Not gonna lie, I was initially interested because of the Taylor Swift title. But it ended up being such a surprising and fun read! I did feel like I was a little too old, this would be a perfect read for young adult fans of Gilmore Girls!

I have not read anything by this author before, but I will definitely be looking out for their work in the future. I loved seeing the story unfold and seeing the characters grow.

High school sweethearts Quinn and Ty don’t really get along after their breakup so when they are tasked to work together for a town festival, sparks fly! It was clear the sparks were there when you first meet Quinn and Ty. Quinn’s cooking classes and mentions of her chronic illness were unique insights in this book. Ty’s friends are a menace. The characters came off a little cliche and young for almost college grads but it doesn’t necessarily take away from the story. I wished we would’ve seen the characters’ personalities a little more though.

This book was SO GOOD! I loved the quirkiness of the characters and the hate-love banter! It gave me ALL the small town romance feels and had really good representation in it!! Loved the MMC and FMC!! I loved their relationship and back and fourth! Only note was that I wish it was longer with more detail. I feel like it went by SO quick. Overall really good though!

i read this book in one sitting and let me say… i was laughing out loud, rooting for Quinn and Ty, and just feeling so cozy reading this book. it gave me such late summer/fall vibes and I’m so happy i read it. definitely a must read if you want something light hearted and genuinely funny!

🌟 Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this second chance romance set in a small town. It’s a cute romance and I loved the representation of chronic illness. The perfect read for a cosy afternoon. Also perfect for lovers of Taylor Swift!!
No spice, young adult romance.

I love a small town romance so that drew me to this book. This book was cute, but overall wasn’t for me personally. I think I was too old for this book? It felt a little immature but maybe that was the point? I just didn’t connect with the characters very much. I think others would enjoy this one more.
Thank you to Netgalley for the arc!

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book! This book has some of my favourite tropes such as small town romance, and second chance! It was easy to read, enjoyable and the characters were sweet. I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I hoped but it was still a fun read!!

I really enjoyed her first book but this one just fell a little flat for me & felt a little too YA for me potentially? I DNF'd at around 1/4 of the way in. I think this will be a super fun book for some people but it just wasn't for me sadly. I will still happily try more from her in the future!!

Thank you Netgalley and Krysti for this ARC!
This is the perfect book for a reading marathon (it has only 224 pages).
I loved the cosy small town vibe and the Taylor Swift references. As a Swiftie I couldn't see a book named "Never Getting Back Together" and not reading it!
However I did not connected with the two main characters. I thought that their attitudes were quite immature sometimes and I did not vibe with it.
Despite that I enjoyed and was a very pleasant read!

This one definitely should be read in the tween years and I’m definitely too old for it!
I found the characters terribly immature. The MMC pulls pranks on the town and the FMC is ruled by her initial reactions to any scenario.
In finishing this book, I don’t think Ty and Quinn are a good fit. They needed more time to develop and actually communicate. Because they didn’t have time, I highly doubt they last until winter.
The book is very informative about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome but that’s about it.

This caught my eye on Netgalley, so I wanted to check it out. The genre isn't listed on Goodreads, but both of the characters are well out of high school. It's sappy sweet and there isn't much by way of mature content (some drinking, but not much else), so it could definitely be YA. I'd prefer it listed as clean NA, but I don't make the rules.
I liked the story. It was a quick, easy read and I loved the small town setting. Seriously, give me fun, quirky residents any day. I also loved Quinn's family. The romance novel parts had me cracking up. Yes, the characters were super immature, but I guess I just expect that from anyone under 25 in novels at this point. I like that it had chronic illness rep, especially from a young person. As someone who got sick with an unknown illness that took years to diagnose at 19, I appreciated seeing this perspective on paper.
I will say that some of the pop culture references in here don't really match the target age. (I know nothing about this author, so I'm telling you how it seems rather than what is actually true.) But it feels like an older millennial wrote this and threw some of their lived experience in there. As I was reading, I was wondering if anyone who was currently in high school would have any idea what references the author was trying to make. They actually gave me pause a few times.
Overall, a fun read. 3.5 rounded up. Nothing mind blowing, but entertaining enough.

Thank you to net galley and Krysti Meyer for this ARC of ‘Never getting back together’
For all the Swifties, this book is for you! Absolutely love a small town romance too! This book was just over 200 pages so was a quick read. Even though it was fairly short I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed and the plot was enjoyable. My only critique is that I feel like I needed more☺️

This was a small-town/second chance romance, and although I found the story to be cute, it was far too YA for me; I like my romance with lots of spice and chemistry and I didn't really feel much of that. That being said, Quinn and Ty's story was well-written and I think younger fans of romance would enjoy it.
