The Moonstone Governess by Meara Platt
Moonstone Landing #4

Daire is drawn to Moonstone Landing and has returned over the years not really knowing what the pull is until he realizes it just might be a young lady who lives there, Brenna Angel. The tricky bit will be whether he can overcome his past, open his heart to another, realize true love, and embrace happiness. This was a nice addition to the series though it felt a bit repetitive with Daire going over and over his thoughts, feelings, and worries without really dealing with them much till near the end. This wasn’t my favorite book in the series. I had trouble seeing Daire and Brenna together for the first half of the book, was eagerly awaiting the nephew’s arrival, wondered when Albert would arrive and he had a cameo appearance only, and felt that Jax and Felicity’s romance deserved more than it received though if this is the end of the series then it is well that Felicity has found her match. My favorite part of the story was the part where the moonstones lit up and what they indicated. This was an easy read without angst or drama.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I have loved every book in the Moonstone series and this was no exception. Daire, a Duke never previouly needing anyone's assistance, doe need Brenna's help in reaching his skittish, previously abused, nephew. The interaction between them, as well as with other Moonstone Landing inhabitants, makes for another enjoyable Moonstone Landing experience.
Thank you Meara Platt, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

Another charming addition to the series! Daire Claymore is the Duke of Claymore and wants for nothing. Anything he desires, he gets. Except one thing he can't seem to get
his hands on is a certain property in Moonstone Landing owned by the beautiful but stubborn Brenna. But besides the property, he seeks Brenna's assistance with helping his nephew who has been hurt and has big trust issues. Daire also has his own demons bottled up inside from past pains that he has endured as well. Brenna may just be the one person to help both his nephew as well as him heal from those past wounds.
A very lovely and heartwarming story with a romance that will melt your heart. The progression of Daire and Brenna's romance was achingly sweet and I enjoyed seeing the growth of Daire as he learned to trust and let his inner self shine through. A beautifully crafted story that was a pleasure to read.

The Duke and the Governess

This is a delightful read. In this historical romance, we have a feisty lady, a duke in need of healing and a new direction, and an adorable little boy in need of love. Daire comes to town to buy property, but he finds so much more. He just must convince Brenna to take a chance on him. She sees him with his dissolute friends. Will he change his ways? Does she sell him her property? As she resists, he proposes that she becomes governess to his nephew, a little boy who was abused by his late father. This proposal she will not refuse, but what will come next?

This story will warm your heart and entertain you. It is full of wit and charm. I recommend it to lovers of historical romance.

For years Daire Claymore, the Duke of Claymore, has been looking to buy property in Moonstone Landing. It's inevitable meeting Brenna Angel turns his world around. He may question love at first sight, but his heart knows what he is afraid to admit. Brenna herself has questions about him. He always gives her the best of himself and anything money can buy. Is it because he wants to buy her property? A hurting little boy has been treated as harshly as his uncle. Only Brenna's special touch can heal them. Recommend this very emotional series. Some descriptive sex.

When I requested it, I didn't realize it was part of a series. However, it can absolutely be read as a standalone romance novel, so nothing was lost. Very good with well-rounded characters. Imagine Gilmore Girls, especially with the banter and the gossip-fueled small town, meets the Victorian Era!

No other words for this book and series other than Stunning!

I love this author’s work, every word she writes, every book she plots is done with brilliance.

This MC we have had the pleasure of meeting previously, but not under the best of circumstances. Now he’s moved up in the world, he’s a Duke and he’s ready to cut loose from his friends, they drag him down and he’s bored of them, and he’s ready to be an adult and marry.

When he meets our FC she takes his breath away, she’s fierce and outspoken, she says what she wants, and it’s not him or his money.
He’s got his work cut out for him.

This is a great book, fun , lighthearted, a little angsty, a lot quick witted, and a great read.

Well-written, heartwarming, and romantic, the moonstones once again work their magic and bring the Duke of Claymore and Miss Brenna Angel together, despite the differences between them. Unexpectedly, Brenna is not at all in awe of Daire's title, wealth, or position in society. She is more inclined to measure a person's worth by their deeds and unfortunately, Daire has made more than his share of mistakes when it comes to the residents of Moonstone Landing. As she stands up to him, Daire is somewhat taken aback but is also amused that the feisty Miss so ably puts him in his place. With the imminent arrival of his family, Daire realizes that he has a gem in Brenna and she may be exactly what his small, broken nephew needs to start a new life. Very quickly Daire comes to the conclusion that he needs Brenna just as much as young Matthew does, and when the moonstones shine for him, he knows he has made the right choice. The novel is part of a series and many of the characters form the background of these novels, but as with the others, it is a standalone and comes to a delightful conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Nice story. We have met the hero before. Daire (odd name) is a big rake sleeping with a couple of sisters to his friend. He sees Brenna (again IMO a strange name) and is struck by her innocence, beauty and kindliness. He knows her extended family would beat him up big time if he disrespects her and in any case hes changed his ways. Other hero/heroines from previous books turn up. Brenna was one of the children the captain saved before tragically loosing his life. Brenna helps Daire with his wild nephew. Mostly kisses till near the end.

I had thought this series ended with book 3 so I was very excited to see there would be more stories from Moonstone Landing. We first met Daire in the last book and it was nice to learn more about him. The part with him meeting with Chloe and Brennan for the first time since the previous book was pretty humorous. I thought the inclusion of the Killigrew sisters was done pretty well - it was nice to see them and their presence didn't feel forced. It is a small village. As for the main story here - I liked Brenna and watching the positive effect she had on Daire. I also liked that the very short time between them meeting and falling in love wasn't brushed over and instead brought up as a reason why they weren't jumping straight into marriage. The parts with Daire and Matthew were really sweet. Albert was a tool, as all expected him to be, but the big question was why he was interested in Brenna. He didn't even seem to really like her all that much. I thought the part with Juliana's health was just kind of dropped and never resolved - Daire is worried about her, she is sick in bed for a few days, and then it's just never mentioned again. I also wish we had gotten more of Jax and Felicity though (maybe we will get a short story or novella about these two?).

Daire, Duke of Claymore keeps being drawn back to the sleepy village of Moonstone Landing. The place seems to bring peace to his troubled soul.

Miss Brenna Angel has been a teacher at a school in Oxford, but when she returns to Moonstone Landing she realised it is home and she will not sell her house there.

This is a lovely historical romance set in a beautiful village we have read about before in the previous books in the series. The characters are all very special. The locals are generous and friendly, many of them from the same large family. Not all the visitors are nice but some just feel the need to stay. Each book in the series has its own independent story that doesn't spoil the others. Every one that I have read have been interesting and fun. I'm not sure if there will be more, but if there are I will definitely need to read them.

Great fun.

The Moonstone Governess by Meara Platt is the fourth in this whimsical series wherein a member of the peerage comes to Moonstone Landing, Cornwall, and falls in love with the place as well as a woman, ususally not of the nobility. In this case it was Daire Claymore, Duke of Claremore, who had been coming to the village for several years and was now determined to buy a home for his mother and nephew. He knew which house he wanted: Stoningham Manor and it belonged to this vision, Brenna Angel. She didn’t want to sell, but he finally talked her around to leasing it to him. It was empty and she had a position in Oxford and could not afford to maintain it. She, on the other had, was as stubborn as they come and no intention of succumbing to pressure from him. He kept pushing and eventually got his way but by then he was falling in love with her, although he didn’t recognize it as such. He believed himself to be incapable of love.

Daire was a deeply damaged man: his father, and his grandfather before him had been cruel men and he had suffered at their hands until his stepmother arrived: Lady Juliana. She had saved him. Sadly she had not managed to save his older brother, Morgan, who had carried on in the same manner toward his son, Matthew. Morgan was dead now and Daire had custody of Matthew, but the damage had been done. Brenna taught at a school for girls in Oxford and was extremely independent. She saw into Daire’s soul and believed he could be saved. It was a magical book, as Platt’s stories tend to be. The characters were all interesting and entertaining. The plot was simple, but handled well. The pacing was good. It was a lovely book.

The little dove & the haunted duke!
A sweet, love at first sight, character developing focused, romance that makes for heartmeltingly good escapism.
I do love getting to know these hardworking, closeknit Angels and heart liberating, philosophical, I-care-enough-to-look-beneath-your-façades-to-heal-your-pain, fixer Brenna is so fun and likeable with her bold, doesn't beat around the bush rejoinders, brimming compassion and sunshine outlook she had me standing right behind her, rooting her on. She was the perfect foil for our new Duke of Claymore, Daire's inner demons.
Daire, struggling with inner demons that haunt him from a past riddled with cruelty and abuse, fears a monster resides deep down within, waiting to pounce just like all the other hateful males in his family. Will he be strong enough to address his heartbreaking anguish? Can old festering wounds be healed, to reveal the inner core of kindness that flows beneath his arrogant, I-always-get-what-I-want façade? Or, do his soul sore scars run to deep for salvation? I really did enjoy seeing if the sizzling chemistry, hard to deny connection and burning building attraction between these two would be enough to overcome the barrier of rank, lingering doubts and the ache of lurking demons.
A most enjoyable romance, that radiated with a natural easiness to the progression of their relationship that glowed with a chemistry full of humour, banter and a sweet provocation that built from first meet and quickly had me invested.
With a sideline romance in Jax and Felicity to enjoy too - though I'm hoping they do eventually get their own book as Jax definitely has the potential to be a meaty character, someone that appears to have a lot of skeletons in his closet to expose - makes this tale the perfect, cuddle up on the sofa, companion.
Another heartwarming addition to a great feel good series!

Tired of his debauched friends and their ways, Daire is drawn again to Moonstone Landing. When he meets Brenna he knows that she is the one. Now he has to trust her to not hurt him as he lets love for her into his heart. Brenna thinks she is too common for a duke but she cannot help but to reciprocate his love. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

Daire has been traveling to Moonstone Landing in search of something for himself. As his life changes from an arrogant Viscount to a Duke, he needs a purpose and maybe even a heart.
Brenna is a member of the local Angel family. Despite being an Oxford teacher, she is a sweet innocent woman with a giving heart. Daire is drawn to her, cannot understand what is happening to him but he knows he wants her.
An entertaining addition to the Moonstone saga with lots of dialogue and soul searching. Reading Daire’s perspective and thoughts made this exceptional. Extra stars ⭐️.

Daire Claymore, the new Duke of Claymore, does not understand why he is so drawn to Moonstone Landing, the sleepy village on the coast of Cornwall. He has all the wealth and power any man can want. In fact, he is used to getting whatever strikes his fancy. He wants to buy Brenna Angel’s manor house so that his stepmother & nephew can have a peaceful home. Matthew thinks Daire will hurt him as everyone else has in his young life. Daire is determined to heal the boy’s heart and teach him to trust. But how can he do this when he was also abused and has never learned to trust, either? Brenna was a teacher in Oxford but agrees to let the manor house to Daire & to become the governess to Matthew.
The fourth book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. I loved both Daire & Brenna, he’s rich, powerful & falls for Brenna hard & fast but he’s afraid to open his heart. Brenna is a breath of fresh air, organised, caring & loving. I loved the chemistry between the couple & how they came to trust each other. Matthew is a delight & I loved him finally accepting Daire. There’s also a secondary romance. A very well written delightful romance
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
