Have you read all of Georgette Heyer’s books and looking for a new author? If so, this is your lady, Jane Dunn. I’ve loved all her regency books so far. The beginning of this one reminded me a lot of Faro’s Daughter by GH. It’s a great story and great characters but for some reason when I put it down for a break, I wasn’t too eager to pick it back up again. Still a great book for regency fans :)
Read this is you like….
-regency romance
-widower, single dad
-a dash of Cinderella story

This book was very enjoyable. Who does not want ‘a knight in shining armour’ to constantly come to the rescue of his ‘damsel in distress’? There are lots of twists and turns in this story, heroes and villains too, but as you would expect, true love prevails. A lovely, clean read.

Well written, very descriptive and intrinsic, not too much dialogue. This was not my personal cup of tea, as it feel quite “old school” in terms of the heroine being so perfectly virtuous and just needing to endure enough suffering to be deemed worthy of the wealthy heroes love and hand. She needs to be rescued by him literally constantly and the things she asks him to do, even when she barely knows him, are a bit absurd to me. I like a heroine who makes things happen rather than who always needs rescuing from the things happening to her. It was well written though, rich in historical detail, I think plenty of readers will like it.
