The Doctor’s Mistress is book #3 in this series and I do believe you can read it as a stand alone but I did love the first 2 books in this series. I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for both the audio version and the kindle version of this book. I tried listening to it first on audio but was getting so confused between the 2 women because they used the same narrator for both. I decided to switch over to the kindle version and was able to follow that one much easier.

This book is told by three different points of view; the wife, the mistress, and the detective, who incidentally worked on the case and who is now involved with the mistress Alice.
While the storyline was interesting. There were a lot of repetitious parts especially if you read the first two books. I believe this could have been read as a standalone. I also feel that any book that Daniel hurst writes is always a great read with lots of twists and turns and he never disappoints.

You can always count on Daniel Hurst to create a twisted story with people that you hate, pity and are afraid of all at the same time. Generally speaking, no one is all good, nor all bad, but most in this story lean toward the bad and twisted, even when their intentions may have started out as well meaning. I did find the ending a bit of a surprise, but all in all a good listen with very good narration.

While I've heard that there may be a book 4, I think that this book wrapped up the series perfectly. And in a very unexpected way.

I just couldn’t get into this one. I’m thinking it’s mostly due to not having read the first books in this series. I would not consider this one to be a stand alone book, despite the author giving a little background to each of the characters in the beginning. I just couldn’t identify with any of the characters and the plot line just wasn’t going it for me.
I have a feeling if you read the other two books, you’d enjoy this one much more.

I like the narrator, but she’s a bit nasally when speaking. I still did enjoy her though.

Well, this is what I thought was the last chapter in Daniel Hursts' series 'The Doctor's Wife'. However, apparently the 4th book is coming in a few months.

What a wild ride it was! As always, Sarah Durham did a fantastic job with her narration. Her voice always draws me in! After the 2nd book, I had no idea how the author is going to be able to wrap it all up and resolve the loose ends. But he did!!! I do kind of think it could have been just 1 book in 3 parts instead of 3 separate books.

It's a classic popcorn thriller with a stellar narration so I recommend it if you are looking for something easy to listen to while working out or doing chores. I'm looking forward to the 4th book!

Wow! Another blinder of a thriller in this gripping series!

I enjoyed getting to know Alice and Detective Tomlin better in this book, as the plot continues to twist and turn in every direction imaginable!

At the end of Book 2, both of the main female characters were pregnant and are now mothers, with the challenge of a new baby to deal with, on top of the web of lies and deceit they are already caught up in. Fern doesn't know who she can trust and Alice is hellbent on revenge. I felt really tense, waiting to discover whether Fern had met her match in Nigel or Victoria, both great characters, with their own twisted agendas. A couple of big twists at the end left me wanting more, thank goodness I know book four is coming!

As usual, narration by Sarah Durham and Luke R. Francis is excellent and I appreciate the continuation of the same female narrator in this series. I can't wait for the next instalment!

Having read the whole Doctor's Wife series by Daniel Hurts, I can safely say now that the second book and this one are my favorite: they combine unpredictability and emotional situations that make you want to keep going. I love how the author shows everyone's true colors even when the character are supposed to be the "evil ones", it makes the book sound real. I also liked the two narrators, beautiful and clear voices, great interpretation.

Oh my Fern always keeps me on my toes! Fern is someone I love to hate 😂 she is a villain in most of the three books but to be honest I really like her 🤭

I love that it’s in multiple povs- this is book 3 and they must be read in order. I’ve had the audiobooks for all three books via NetGalley & I must say I absolutely love the narrator’s work that’s exactly how I would picture the FMC speak.

The story is gripping from the start just like his other books I was surprised with the ending but is it the end? Who knows.

Yes so so interesting if you love domestic psychological thrillers you will eat all three books up.

The 3rd book in The Doctor's series felt like a bit of a drag - too whiny and it came across as someone else writing on behalf of Daniel Hurst!

Unpopular opinions - how did both the heroines have a baby almost at the same time? Or did I miss something here?
why was one the kid portrayed as a lot of trouble to handle? The heroine was already stressed out why make the kid unbearable?
The ending was super flat and it kind of felt that the theme of the book lost it's purpose as the story progressed!

2.5stars only and I am glad the author decided to end the series!

I really wanted to love the book, I truly truly did. But it was very repetitive in the first half. It basically went over what happened in the first two books, to the point where I was wondering when something new would happen.

Now, the pacing of Hurst's writing is definitely still great! Despite being a bit slow at the beginning, he managed to keep me hooked.

It is a classic popcorn thriller, which I find can be entertaining more on certain days than others. But I was a bit disappointed in the book compared to the previous ones.

Thus series is utterly brilliant and book 3 doesn't let the side down at all. It's the perfect addition. I lapped up every single word
The narrator's never fail to bring the book to life and it's one of those listens that you can't stop listening to. I was up till the wee small hours..
I highly recommend Daniel Hurst, he has a way of capturing people's emotions that just shines.

Review: I enjoyed this and it is fine as a standalone, but I think it would be way better had I read the first two in the series. I felt pasts were a bit ‘basic’ for a thriller and not that exciting. The audio is engaging.

Another five star book from Daniel Hurst. After reading the two before this, I was uncertain how this one would go. I loved the first two and didn’t know if he had it in him to perfect yet another. This did not disappoint. It kept me guessing and I could easily picture it in my head. The narrator did a fantastic job with this audiobook, too!

Book 3 in this fantastic series…,. The audiobook is well narrated, with a likeable and easy to listen to narrator who had no difficulty maintaining my attention.

I usually enjoy Daniel Hurts books, and this one was no different. I genuinely enjoyed this story from the three different point of views: the mistress, the widow, and the ex-detective. I did feel like I kept waiting for something really dramatic or crazy to happen and it just never did.

I did listen to the audiobook version and wished there were multiple people for the different characters and POV.

#DanielHurst has created this series where I’m rooting for a “bad guy.” Once again, I found myself pulling for Fern to not get caught and be able to finally have a chance at a good life. This is a truly addictive #psychologicalthriller that I read super quickly!

And again - Luke R. Francis & Sarah Durham did a brilliant job narrating the audiobook!

Well done. Enjoyed the series and the way you wrapped it up...or did you? What started as revenge shifted into a story of compassion in some instances. Ultimately survival is a necessity and protection prevails. It was cleverly done. I look forward to "The Doctor's Daughter" where we hear the story of how this impacts Cecilia and her story of revenge. :)

After Fern got away with murder, again, she had to go on the run to try and salvage a life for herself ... and her new baby. But Alice refuses to let her get away with all that she's done. Alice was put in prison, for a crime she did not commit, because of Fern, and she wants justice. Alice is determined to track Fern down so she can pay for her crimes. Will Fern get away ... again? Or will she finally be put behind bars?

I love this series. Out of the 3 books so far, I do have to admit that this is my least favorite. I know that the story can't be dragged out forever, but the way it ends points to the series coming to a close very soon (and I really hope that's not the case). Aside from that, I enjoyed this story. There are twists and turns that you just don't see coming. I'm hopeful for more stories in the series to keep the excitement and drama alive!

It was just so slow, pendantic and repetitive and the characters were as unbelievable as the plot and Fern and Alice were so boring I'm surprised either of them found more than one man each. Their portrayal wasn't helped by the female narrators's voice which just grated on me. I know I am in the minority but the only highlight was the male narrator's portrayal of Thomlin (and who continuously calls their partner only by their surname?)
I think I might have enjoyed it more if I'd read a print copy really.
