**a huge thank you to NetGalley, Bookoutureaudio and the author for the opportunity to review an audibook ARC**

The Final book in The Doctor's Wife series... or is it? haha!

Fern just cannot rest! This book is actually told in three POV's: Fern, Alice, and the ex dective.

the audiobook only had 2 narrators and at times they were acting as 2 characters which could be confusing at times.

I would've expected Alice to be a little more... fiesty. angry. She's certainly out for revenge (as is Fern) but she didn't seem to have that "I-will-stop-at-nothing-to-right-this-wrong" fire burning inside her. Fern remains my favorite toxic character, but at times you certainly question who you're rooting for.

4 stars!

Having listened to The Doctor's Wife book 2, I could not wait to listen to the 3rd audio book in this series. Having enjoyed the characters, story and the way in which Daniel Hurst writes, I knew that this would not disappoint. and it seriously did not. I love it.

Having not listened to the first audio book, I still got to grips with the story and Daniel Hurst's writing style , for me, is captivating and just easy to enjoy.

We follow murderess Fern, aka Teresa living a new life in Cornwall with her new daughter. Follow Alice, released from prison for being wrongly accused of Doctor Drew's murder and now with his child and living with Tomlin who got Alice wrongly caught in the first place.

The voices of the characters are the same as audio book 2 and I really enjoyed the way in which they portrayed the story.

Fern is now living hand to mouth and wants to make a better life for her daughter, Alice is hell-bent on finding Fern and getting her own back for being framed by her and Tomlin is trying to help Alice as she struggles with being a new mum.

Really great novel and would recommend to everyone. Great storyteller and I loved it.

Thanks to Daniel Hurst, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Daniel Hurst, an author with a flair for thrilling storytelling, has yet again managed to capture my attention from the very first few chapters of his latest novel. His writing style is absorbing, and the fast-paced action keeps me glued to the pages long past my bedtime. The audio narration is also top-notch, bringing the story to life with its vivid descriptions and well-crafted characters.

This is the third book in the series, and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone, having prior knowledge of the full history between Fern and Alice only adds to the overall reading experience. The backstory is expertly woven into the plot, providing essential context, and deepening our understanding of the main character's actions.

The characters are well-developed, both familiar and new, and their interactions with one another are seamless. Hurst's ability to blend in new characters with the old is impressive, and it only adds to the overall richness of the plot. As a reader, I felt invested in the characters' lives and was rooting for them until the very end.

Overall, Hurst's latest novel is a great thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns will leave you guessing until the very end, and the well-crafted characters will keep you invested in the story. I can't wait to pick up more books by this talented author!

Man, I love Daniel Hurst's writing and this series. I absolutely loved the first two books in the series and this one was a really great follow up. I was really interested to see where Daniel would take this one and it was along the lines of what I was expecting but had a lot of surprises as well. The characters were once again extremely dynamic and never boring. I do wish there had been a bit more cat and mouse play in this one but thought overall it was really well done. The ending of this book was particularly amazing and a great way to end the series. Daniel Hurst's releases are an automatic read for me now because you'll never find yourself bored or waiting for the story to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve listened to all 3 books in this series and this one is definitely my favorite. The author did a great job of keeping the suspense has he moved from character to character. It wasn’t predictable, which made it more fun to listen to. The narrators were great. The ending surprised me, which was definitely a good thing. If you haven’t read/listened to the first two books in the series I definitely recommend reading/listening to them first, but definitely read/listen to the whole series.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book prior to publication.

The Doctor's Mistress is the third book in The Doctors Wife psychological thriller series but can easily be enjoyed as a stand alone novel. Fern has killed her husband because he was cheating on her with his mistress Alice. Fern had framed Alice for the murder. When she is finally let out from prison Alice is out for revenge and will stop at nothing to find Fern and make her pay. Each of these women has a baby girl which complicates both their lives but helps Fern in hiding from the police, nobody ever knew she was pregnant. There are lots of twists and turns in this story and I enjoyed it very much. I am wondering if this is going to be the last book in the series because as it ends there are still possibilities for Fern and Alice to reconnect. Recommended for fun.

This is my favorite book in the series so far! It was full of moments that kept my heart racing, and I was so invested in what was happening all while wondering what would be next. This was all about survival and revenge. I felt for both the ladies in this book, and for some reason, I wanted Fern to win in the end. (I know…I’m crazy!) I just have a soft spot for Fern. I love how she meant business and was all about protecting herself and her child. I also loved the ending! Looking forward to the 4th and final book out May 2024.

If you enjoy thrillers and haven’t started this series, please add it to your TBR list.

I truly enjoyed the narrator. She did a brilliant job keeping me engrossed and feeling the emotions of the characters.

I am continuing to work my way through Daniel Hurst’s catalog. He has such a talent for writing books that are easy to digest and extremely thrilling.

Thank you to @bookouture and @netgalley for this audiobook.

This book is part of a series and I have listened to the first two. Dr. Drew Devlin was killed and his mistress was put in prison for it when it was not her. His wife, Fern is on the run and no one knows that she has a baby so she is trying to stay hidden. Alice, the mistress, also has a child by Drew and she is living with the detective who put her behind bars. Will justice prevail on its own or will Alice have to take it into her own hands?

This book definitely kept me on my toes. I wanted to know what would happen next and the ending was actually touching instead of revengful.

This is the third book in this series, I’ve not read the first two, but it’s easy to understand the storyline. Dr Drew is dead and his wife Fern with his child is on the run, she has managed to change her name and disappeared in Cornwall. Tomlin the detective that mucked up the case is with his partner Alice who has the Dr.s child too.

It’s a quick listen/read, the narrators are good, but the two woman parts can get mixed up easily. I liked the storyline and found it quite intriguing. It’s a page turner.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

The sinister actions of a disturbed mind make one question the honour of their plans. A wonderful route through the twisted revenge which leads to surprising results

Another thrilling, gripping and twisted tale by Daniel Hurst where a wife and the mistress are playing a game of cat and mouse. Both women loved the wrong man. Both cannot move on with their lives - not when revenge is getting in their way!

This book will work as a stand-alone but I highly suggest reading the first two books: The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctor's Widow before taking on this bad boy girl. They are both gripping and entertaining books.

Alice was the Doctor's mistress and spent time in jail for Doctor Drew Devlin’s murder. She has been released after being cleared of the crime, has a baby and is looking for revenge. Tess/Fern is hiding and on the run. She also has a baby in tow and is constantly looking over her shoulder.

This book is told through 3 POV's and kept me on my toes. I had both the book and the audiobook which made for an enjoyable reading experience. I enjoyed the tension, the pacing, and the cat and mouse feel of this book. I have enjoyed reading about Fern/Tess and Alice from the very first book in the series and enjoyed reading about them once again. Have they changed? Have they grown now that they are mothers? You will have to read to find out. This was a fast paced and addictive read which had me turning the pages!

Addictive, fast paced, thrilling and tense.

The Doctor's Mistress by Daniel Hurst is so much better than The Doctor's Widow. As soon as I put my request in, I saw the title for book #4 and was certain it ruined this book. Thankfully, I was wrong as The Doctor's Mistress doesn't go in the expected direction and is more about how each woman is coping with motherhood and their past choices. I suggest not reading the summary for The Doctor's Child until finishing this book.

I like that we hear from Fern, Alice, and Tomlin and that they continue to play the entertaining cat and mouse game. There are some decisions made that I didn't agree with, but didn't find them outlandish or ridiculous (well, one regarding Dimitri, but any questions of validity are answered before the end). It's an exciting and emotional read that I highly recommend.

Sarah Durham and Luke R. Francis are great narrators. I like the range and emotion they brought to their characters. It would have been nice if Fern and Alice each had their own narrator as they sound exactly the same. Anytime I picked the book up in the middle of a chapter, I had to use context clues to remember who we were hearing from.

Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with an ALC.

The Doctor is dead but was it his wife or his mistress? A truly twisted tale of scorned lovers looking for revenge.

You only think you know what is going to happen but you will be shocked. Which woman will finally get the revenge the seek? Daniel Hurst writes absolutely addictive phycological thrillers and this one did not disappoint!

Arc Review: The Doctor's Mistress by Daniel Hurst (Book 3)

"The wife. The mistress. Who will get their revenge?

I was the other woman. The mistress. Everyone blamed Doctor Drew Devlin’s death on me. And I’ve paid the price for loving the wrong man.

Now, I have dark circles under my eyes because I can’t sleep at night. I lost everything – friends, family, my home and even my freedom. Drew’s devious wife Fern tore my whole world apart. And she thinks she’s got away with murder.

But she’s wrong. It’s time for revenge. For myself… and for my baby.

Her new life on the windswept Cornish coast is about to come crashing down around her. I’m determined for everyone to find out the true story. Because now it’s not just my life in danger, I’ve got to protect the doctor’s daughter too.

I know Fern will expect me to come after her – I’m certain she will have her own plan in place to stop me. After all, she’s duped so many people before.

But then again, Fern always did underestimate me. And by the time she realises, it’ll be far too late for the doctor’s wife…"

I loved this book. I listened to it as an audiobook on Netgalley and it definitely enhanced the experience. I'd 100% recommend if you enjoy psychological thrillers.

In this book, Fern has evaded arrest after all the murders. She’s now on the run with her baby and hiding under another alias. Alice, on the other hand, is now free after being wrongfully placed in prison. She has a new baby but she finds herself obsessed with finding Fern to make her pay for what she’s done, while struggling with her mental health. As a mother, who battled postpartum depression, I quickly found myself resonating with Alice and her struggle to connect with her daughter, Evelyn. This story was full of twists and turns and Hurst did an amazing job fleshing out and tying details together. The ending really surprised me when one of the characters makes a shocking change. The character development in this book was well planned out and developed throughout. Although this is the 3rd book in the series, it could be read as a stand alone. That’s how well Hurst did at tying all of the details together. A plus, the narrator had a spine-chilling and action-packed performance and really embodied each of the characters, making the story even more enjoyable.

The Doctor’s Mistress
The Doctor’s Wife Book 3
Daniel Hurst
Two women a wife and a mistress, one man, a husband a cheater. This is the third book in this series. I have not read the first two books but this one can be read as a standalone.
The doctor’s name was Drew; he was murdered by Fern, the wife. Fern framed Alice the mistress for the murder. Alice was arrested and served some time before Fern’s plot came to light. Fern has escaped and is in hiding. The authorities do not know she is on the run with her three-month-old child, the doctor’s child. Fern was used to a more influential way of life, but she has had to take shelter in a cheaper apartment where the landlord is sleazy. Fern believes she has covered her tracks and gotten away with murder, but she didn’t consider the fury of the Alice.
Alice is determined to find Fern and make her pay. Tomlin the detective is living with Alice and her baby, also the doctor’s child. The difference between Fern and Alice’s mother skills is shocking. Alice’s child cries a lot. Alice has no patience with her. Tomlin is much better with the child. Alice is so focused on revenge that she cannot focus on anything else.
This tale is told from three points of view, Fern, Alice and Tomlin. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them but this one was disappointing. The pace is so s---l---o---w. The ending seemed contrived. Fern was rather stupid and naive; she certainly wasn’t smart enough to have plotted not only her husband’s murder but also committed several murders. Alice was crazy; she neglected her child. Tomlin, I don’t even know what to say about his character.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book for review. My reviews are always my personal unbiased opinions.

*****I received this audiobook free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I have been very fortunate to review all 3 books in this series. This third book did not disappoint! It was a great end to the thriller trio!!

This book!! This book had me ignoring work just so I could read more. I was surprised to have three points of view within this storyline. But it wasn’t hard to keep up or keep them straight. Although this is the third installment of The Doctor’s Wife Series, I honestly didn’t realize it was a continuation. I feel like I got a good sense of the characters and a bit of their backstories. I need to backtrack and read the first and second books.

This is not my favorite Hurst book to date. I found it slow and repetitive. These characters' actions didn't quite match them and their motivations, if you know what I mean. At the end of the day, it just fell flat for me. The male narrator did a phenomenal job with his characters. However, the female narrator came across as rather void of emotion. A big thanks to the author, Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.
