I love Diane Saxon books and was looking forward to reading this.

I was not disappointed.

A twin sister disappears..what happened is she alive or dead. The book goes backward to the past and the prestent.
It is easy to follow

A gripping read

The author is very adept at writing stories about families who are torn apart for whatever reason and this is no exception. In this book we have an identical twin sister who just disappears not long after their mother has died however they don't know if she is dead or alive. As the reader we know she is being kept alive but the question is why and by whom. The book alternates between the present and the past, the kidnapped sister and her twin. It builds up to a great crescendo and is well worth reading.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.

I have loved the other books I have read by Diane Saxon, and The Good Twin is one twisted tale! Skye and Summer are identical twins, but after their mothers sudden and unexpected death the twins who were so close were suddenly separated. When Skye leaves to go to University at leaving Summer behind, she finds herself alone and finds solace LJ who she met online. Summer has shared everything with LJ, even things she can't tell her father or sister and when she decides to meet him little does she know that it will be the last time she will see her family again.

Summer and her father are devastated by the loss of Skye, but life has moved on and sees her father remarry. But on the day of the wedding a strange call comes through the landline that shook Summer!

This is one twisted tale, and we are privy to what has been happening to Skye over the years that she has been kidnapped and then following the phone call we see Summer piece together that her sister is alive and subsequently finding her, but getting to that point is harrowing. What Skye had endured was just awful to read and how she became so reliant on her captor via Stockholm syndrome, as there were many chances to escape but she was just so broken.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC in return for an honest review.

The Good Twin by Diane Saxon follows the life of Summer & Skye identical twins still reeling from the death of their mother and younger sister. Skye has headed of to University, while Summer stays at home with the family. Summer meets a nice guy on social media and they become quick friends but when she goes to meet him she is violently assaulted and abducted.

The story follows two timelines, that of Summer who is imprisoned by an abusive captor, and Skye who has never given up hope of finding her twin alive. When a fateful phonecall from an anonymous caller advises that Summer is still alive, Skye sets out to find her.

I really enjoyed this book. Both timelines had me hooked and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out exactly who this LJ was. This is definitely a book for all psychological thriller fans! I can't wait to read more by this author!

Another fantastic book from Diane Saxon. I sped through this. The alternating chapters between the twins Summer and Skye made this a real page turner.
I was immediately trying to guess who the “friend” was and I had three theories, each cancelling each other out making me question myself!
You can really picture the different scenes within the story. The storyline is scary but also so believable and does happen!

The ending is brilliant too, I won’t ruin it for you but it’s a must read for psychological thrillers.

Oh my days!! What a book!
Grabbed me from the start and kept me hostage until the very end! Read in 24 hours!
Fantastic. Loved the Wellington, Telford and Shropshire mentions as that's where I was born, particularly smiled when I read the words... the Wrekin ❤️
LJ is nasty, the plot kept me guessing and working things out and I was sure I had it figured out... but I didn't! Brilliantly written, first by this author but not the last! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion

This story was a page turner for sure. I enjoyed reading and encountering all of the twists and turns that kept happening. It taught a lot of lessons especially about who should and shouldn’t be trusted. I enjoyed this book a lot.

In 2016 the mother of 19-year-old twins Skye and Summer and their 12-year-old sister Jade passed away. By the October of that year Skye has gone off to university, while Summer has chosen to be the “good twin” and stay at home for a year with her shell-shocked family. The twins are very close and this is possibly the first time the girls have disagreed on something so important. Without Skye to talk to, Summer has found a friend on social media, a good-looking lad called LJ, and after several weeks of confiding in him online, a meet up has been arranged. All too late, she realises he’s not what he seems when she is violently assaulted and wakes up a prisoner, used and abused by a very different man. The family searched for years when Summer simply vanished and have lost hope, except for Skye who refuses to believe her sister has gone. The story alternates between Summer’s story at the hands of her jailer and the present day, 2023, where their father is all set to remarry a lovely lady called Martha. Just before the ceremony, they receive a strange phone call telling them Summer is captive and in danger. A hoaxer or a saviour giving a glimpse at the terrible truth?
This is a dark and chilling psychological thriller that will have the reader constantly guessing at what lies behind Summer’s “friend” and ordeal as the bond between the twins remains at strong as ever. It was fairly easy to guess who the “baddie” was but still fascinating to watch the plot play out, and with a thrilling and dramatic conclusion, this is certainly an excellently told story to keep the reader glued to the pages from start to finish.

I've read several of Saxon's books now and have thoroughly enjoyed them all, with The Good Twin being one of my favourites to date.

I literally read the book in the early hours of this morning when I couldn't sleep. Only planning on doing a few chapters, I soon found myself invested into the plot and the characters, and just had to keep going.

It starts at a moderate pace, before accelerating into a high velocity thriller. There were more twists and turns than Nemesis roller-coaster, it was dark, deep and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Depraved and demented describes the predatory perp in this tale.
I was gutted at what happened to Summer and what she had to do to survive.
It’s a good warning to be cognizant that sometimes the worst vermin is right under our feet.
I raced through the pages to see what happens.
It’s a vile story but one that ends with hope and color.

The Good Twin starts off as a bit of a slow burn but amps up as the twists come. It was intense, and I couldn't put it down.

I highly recommend it for thriller fans.

In this gripping psychological thriller, twin sisters Summer and Skye grapple with their mother's death and the differing paths they choose. When Summer befriends LJ, an online acquaintance, a seemingly harmless meetup takes a dark turn, leading to her abduction. The narrative shifts between the sisters' perspectives, hinting at an unreliable narrator and adding to the intrigue. While the plot holds promise, lengthy character backstories and repetitive descriptions sometimes detract from the story's momentum. The novel incorporates twists, some expected and others surprising, but struggles with occasional monotonous or confusing narrative detours. Despite mixed execution, the exploration of Stockholm Syndrome and trauma bonds adds depth to the story, culminating in a satisfying ending. If you enjoy plot twists, this book may still resonate with you.

Thank you Netgalley, Diane Saxon and Boldwood books for the eArc of The Good twin.

Ive read /listened to a few of Diane Saxon books and really enjoyed the DS Jenna Morgan Series. So I had high hopes for this standalone psychological thriller. This book did not disappoint. Diane is great in building in good tension within her narratives to keep you engaged and reading. The Good twin has some great twists and turns which keep you guessing. The last 3rd of the book has some edge of the seat qualities and has you gripped until you finish the book.

There are some triggers in this book that some readers may need to be aware of. These are handled with care and are very realistic in the healing process of what can happen we trust the wrong person. This is what makes Diane a superb writer.

4 Stars
