Wow I just loved it right from the beginning, all I kept thinking was REALLY how could he be just that much of a bone head egoistic jerk. Yup, his brother then tells him you need to be more sensitive. Oh ya he says that's my brother. Sorën duty was to reply to his brother's ad who is looking for a wife. Once Sorën reads the reply of one smart witty woman he says well your to good for my brother.
My heart broke upon reading what had happen to Nola. Imagine the worst when it come to an accident when it come to a child.
Well ladies read on you will fall in love with one.

This is a wonderful, heart-felt, emotional love story that took me by surprise. I wasn't too impressed on starting it...but oh, it really hits you in the feels. This is not your typical "switching identities" plot. You have Soren, who is successful in his career but lives in his brother's shadow. His parents are cold and dismissive with him and he years for love. Nola is a fragile young woman who was disfigured as a baby and has lived with her scars. Her family love her but don't do anything to help her deal with the resulting trauma. The way the two come together and support each other is heart-warming. I highly recommend!

This book was an emotional ride and a beautiful, sweet love story, but the first chapter or so seemed to indicate it was headed in a completely different direction. Initially, Soren's brother posts a boneheaded and somewhat misogynistic singles ad and ropes Soren in to screen the responses. Soren is appalled by the ad, but he loves his brother and is used to always being in his shadow so he agrees. I don't like identity deception and was afraid that's where the story was going, however, as soon as Soren reads a smart, witty, and sweet response from Nola, a social media influencer in Georgia, he knows he wants to get to know this woman better. He immediately fesses up to her that he's "only" the brother of the guy who posted the ad and picture that caught her eye, but that he is very interested in her from her letter and would love to continue corresponding.

From that initial meeting online, Soren and Nola form a strong connection between texts, emails, and phone calls and he quickly decides to come to GA and meet her in person. Nola and her family have always defined her almost solely by the scars on face from a horrible accident as a child. Soren's interest in her and his view of her scars as being not all that prominent and just a very small piece of her personality finally lead her to realization that she and her family have been living with a mental illness, body dysmorphia. She realizes she needs professional help to step out from behind the scars and seize the life and love that she has been longing for.

I had some quibbles about the timeline of the story. Soren and Nola fall in love very fast, and she makes great strides in her recovery in a breathtakingly short period of time. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it. It was sweet and very hopeful and Soren and Nola were pretty perfect together. I love when two characters in a romance enable each other to be the best versions of themselves. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

This is book eight in An-Odds-Are-Good Romance series and it is Soren and Nola’s story. Soren is a accountant and when his brother Magnus asks him to go through his fan mail and answer it Soren is reading one letter that calls to him and he feels a connection to her even though they miles away so he decides to answer it for himself not knowing that his life is about to change especially as he has always lived in his older brothers shadow. Nola is a influencer on her instagram page but in reality after a terrible childhood accident that left her totally scared on her face she hides behind her camera but always wanted to find love but her insecurities had always stood in her way. When Soren and Nola decide to talk and come clean about themselves they decide to meet but will this be what they both need to not only get a happy ending that they both deserve but also realise that love knows no boundaries regardless of your imperfection. This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I couldn’t put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what the outcome would be for Soren and Nola in the end. I can’t wait to read more books by Katy Regnery in the future as she is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

Kodiak Lumberjack by K. Regnery is book 7 in the Odds Are Good Series.
Soren and Casey couldn't be more different from each other.
The lumberjack who answers an ad in the paper is a man down to earth, living a bit in the shadow of his older brother Magnus.
Casey is an activist, treehuggung do gooder, very committed and now writing a piece about logging in Alaska - and meeting a lumberjack by posting an ad. Soon both learn there is more to it than activism.
Both are flawed characters, everyday people you can easily connect with. I loved readingf this book that fits right iin with the orther stories in thgis wonderful series.

This is such a sweet romance. Sometimes without meaning to out family can be emotionally bad for us. This book gives an honest and compassionate perspective on body image. I read it in one sitting. It was a well written book that sucked me right into the storyline.

Kodiak Lumberjack is a fun read containing an important message about BDD, body dysmorphic disorder and how it can completely undermine a person’s self image and esteem. When extremely handsome Magnus advertises for a wife specifically asks for a homely girl. Too busy having fun with his friends he asks his brother Soren to screen the candidates for him. Nola, the candidate that catches Soren’s interest believes herself to be completely disfigured by the scars she suffered as a child. What follows is a beautifully written falling in story about learning to trust, learning to believe and learning to separate one’s self esteem from the negativity of others. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This is a beautiful, heartfelt, and touching story! I've always loved Regnery's writing and Kodiak Lumberjack is another wonderful addition to the collection of emotional books that I absolutely adore.

Soren has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, Magnus and when Soren is put to the task of helping Magnus weed through the personal ads of finding him a wife, Soren himself, is touched by one response in particular. The way she writes, her wit and charm shine through, Soren is instantly smitten and replies not on behalf of his brother, but for himself.

Nola has lived behind the fear of what society would say about the scars on her face, scars she has lived with her entire life, but has never emotionally coped with.  When she meets Soren face to face, for the first time in her life, she feels beautiful and comes to terms with several realities that help her grow from meeting the man of her dreams.

This story has a slow burn on a physical level, but emotionally Nola and Soren pulled at my heart strings from the very beginning which also included their chemistry that never wavered.  These two are both precious and beautiful people inside and out. It's a story that's both touching and thought provoking. I loved it and couldn't put it down for one moment.
