Four More Words is not your typical brother’s best friend romance. I found it sweet that Declan got Christine a potted plant instead of flowers. I believe that It’s more unique and can last longer flowers! I also found it cute how he kept finding reasons to spend more time with her, while still being respectful of her boundaries at the start. I could relate to that feeling before dating someone, where it’s all butterflies and wanting to be together all the time. The whole first part has many cute and romantic moments.

The middle and end were hard to read but when you make it to the end, it makes sense. This book is very personal to the author and reading her note at the end can help explain why the story took the route it did.

Four More Words is now published so read it today! 🎉

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Very slow read that seemed to drag on. The writing style and internal dialogue is very formal, while the main character’s (Christine’s) spoken dialogue is whiny and immature. The book jump around chronologically without giving any real idea of how long it’s been since the last chapter. It felt underdeveloped, overall.

This was unfortunately a DNF for me. I tried so hard to read it. I gave it 4 different nights and didn’t even make it 20% into the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book and to provide my honest review.

This was a well developed story and characters. I was grabbed and intrigued. It had the right amount of emotional pull mixed with thoughtful situations. I didn’t get teary but others probably would. I’d say it’s not your typical love story, but we are in uncommon times. Enjoy!

This is one of those books that truly capture life in written form. The story is very gripping and it held me captivated from beginning to end. It wrecked me and left me quite emotional. The main characters’ relationship reflected that life is definitely not easy, it has its ups and downs. It was intense to read about the mental illness that’s represented in the book, I didn’t know what it’s like, I was clueless about it beyond the very little general knowledge I had. This book is certainly for those, who are in for an emotional journey and don’t shy away from hard topics.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.

Four More Words by Aurora Stenulson was an interesting read. I appreciated the author's desire to spread awareness about schizophrenia and those close to this subject. I struggled a little with the pacing of the book, and the actions/reactions of the main characters. While parts of the book felt deep and immersive, others felt shallow and unfinished. Overall, I felt like I was able to understand more of the facets of this topic through this fictional story. I appreciated the effort the author put into the story even though it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. It’s a sweet romance story that depicts the imperfections of relationships in an emotional way that gets you attached to the characters. It breaks your heart and puts it back together and I definitely recommend when ur looking for a book that will pull at your heartstrings 💕

Quick Summary: A women's fiction novel

My Review: Four More Words by Aurora Stenulson was interesting. It was an up and down read, in my opinion. It started out with such a sweet storyline, but it ultimately ended up as a tragically chaotic, see saw reading experience. It was not for me.

About the Book: A young woman reunites with the best friend of her brother (s). Their short-lived dating season leads to a dysfunctional marriage. Later, the young wife learns about her husband's struggle with his mental health.

My Final Say: There were a lot of moving parts to this story. It all came to be too much for me. It went from steady to unsteady in the blink of an eye. With such a strong beginning, my expectation was that it would be...more than what it was. I'm so sorry to say that I did not love the writing style or the direction the story took. It came across very much like a P-drama. The characters had a level of immaturity that was hard to get past. This applied to the leads and to the supports. At one point, it seemed like the story was a collection of lines from some of my favorite movies. In the end, I'm happy to say I finished and that I did not have to give this a dnf rating.

Other: The saving grace of this story was that it presented information on what living with schizophrenia is like, for the one who is diagnosed, as well as for those in the family/friend circle. I applaud the author for promoting mental health awareness.

Four More Words is a compulsive read, which journeys far from the simple love story it initially appears. The representation in this book was insightful and clearly crafted thoughtfully by the author. The characters drive this story, and while we experience it through Christine’s eyes, the other characters were well defined, with great depth.

This was a heavy read, and I would suggest checking trigger warnings before you pick it up. It is a book I will think about long after putting it down. I strongly recommend reading the authors note after finishing the book, as it provided significant context about her personal experience and the rawness of writing this book.

I really enjoyed this book! At first, I thought it was going to be a typical romance but it had a lot more to it with an ending I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow through their different challenges. I wish the book had time stamps at the beginning of each chapter because it jumped big chunks of time without warning. Overall 4/5 stars and I would recommend this book!
