This was an amazing book. I highly recommend it to everyone. Great characters and a great plot. I will be looking for more books by this author. The book is superbly written. Lots of twists, turns and shocking turns of events

Interesting read and good characters. Katie wasn't having anyone tell her what to do. Found it hard to comprehend what Louise set out to do to Katie and the way it divided family and friends. Kasey and Maureen were real pieces of work with how they treated people. A good ending and I'd love to read the next book. Would recommend.

I am enjoying this series and like the slower pace of these mysteries. There are a lot of intriguing characters and situations that meld together to produce a compelling read.

This is the eighth book in the Kate Fox series. It isn’t necessary to have read previous books because there is a fully developed murder investigation, but to really get a feel for the character dynamics and their underlying story arc, starting from the beginning will give a more enjoyable reading experience. If you’re looking for a straight up police procedural/murder investigation, you won’t find that in this book, or in the series for that matter. Kate’s personal life and family dynamics play a pivotal role and sometimes overshadow the mystery. Even though I often find myself getting frustrated with the characters and their actions, I really do enjoy this series. Maybe those personal dynamics are a big part of my reading enjoyment even as I yell at my Kindle! 😂

Kate is a sheriff in small town Nebraska, and during a rodeo one of the stock breeders is killed. A good cozy mystery, and I did enjoy it, but did not like the issue of her family and felt it was distracting to the mystery. Otherwise I highly recommend this book.
