Kate Alice Marshall returns following What Lies In The Woods with NO ONE CAN KNOW —a captivating, atmospheric psychological thriller centered around three sisters, a mysterious murder, and more secrets than you can count.

AUDIOBOOK: Let me say that Karissa Vacker nailed the audio narration, leaving you hanging on her every word—a listen-in one-day/night kind of entertainment!

Fourteen years ago, sisters Emma, Juliette, and Daphne’s parents were brutally murdered in their home in Arden Hills, New Hampshire.

Emma is now married to Nathan. All he knows is her parents are dead, and she has not spoken to her sisters, Juliette and Daphne, in years.

Emma and Nathan are going through financial hardship, losing their apartment, Nathan getting laid off, and Emma is now pregnant with no money left in their bank account.

However, there is one asset—her parent's house that she owns jointly with her estranged sisters. They cannot sell it, but they can live in it.

However, returning home to the place where her parents were murdered, Emma will have to reveal secrets of the past (or some of them). The house is a stately mansion, not some run-down shack with a carriage house (plus a secret basement and more).

They have never really discussed what happened that night. There are many secrets in the small town, and moving back stirs up old fears and anxieties. They may be opening a Pandora's box.

The parent's killer was never found, but some blamed Emma. There are enemies in the town, and now she will come face to face with her sisters.

How far will they go to keep hidden the secrets of the past and protect one another?

The sisters were split up after their parent's murder. Emma and Daphane were sent to foster care, and Juliette went to college. There are many grudges, and Nathan and her sisters are acting strangely. Emma wants to protect her child, but the family secrets may emerge.

Smartly written, I enjoyed NO ONE CAN KNOW more than the last book, What Lies in the Woods. The novel gives you that creepy Gothic vibe, the house, the setting, and the mystery of the past.

Even though there are no likable characters, and you are not sure whom to trust, the novel moves along steadily.

It is a twisty whodunit that explores the complex relationships between sisters and how far they will go to protect one another. For readers who enjoy small-town mysteries and family dramas. For fans of authors Stacy Willingham, Carol Goodman, Lisa Jewell, and Jennifer McMahon.

The author has moved from YA to Adult and is making her way to the top thriller genre with her winning writing style. I look forward to more from this talented author.

I highly recommend the audiobook, narrated by one of my favorites, Karissa Vacker, who made the book come alive with her stellar performance.

Many thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the privilege of an early listening copy for an honest opinion. I certainly enjoyed several audiobooks with Karissa over the Christmas holidays.

Huge huge fan of Kate Alice Marshall.
I am obsessed with KAMs paranormal books and now with these thrillers!

This was so twisty and had terrible characters. I loved it.
Emma and her husband Nathan find out they need a place to live and are now pregnant. So they return to Emma’s old house. The ones her parents were murdered in. She hasn’t been honest about what happened that night but things will have to come out and she revisits the past to figure out what really went down.

Ugh the characters were all terrible and I loved them for it. This kept me engaged the entire time and when it came to the last 25% it felt like a fire hydrant of plot twists and revelations.

Also Karissa Vacker is the narrator. Fantastic job as always.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for an advanced listening copy.

No one can know makes you question everyone in a true thriller form. You don’t know what to think until the very end. This book is one of my favorites of the year!

Sadly this one was a miss for me. There is nothing particular wrong with it but it just misses the mark of a good gripping, nail biting thriller.
For one, it's a tad bit lengthy, due to a whole lot of repetitive text. Secondly, I felt like I could see the big reveal from the first 25% and so it was kind of a letdown when I reached the end.
The author does try to add multiple twists and turns in the end to make it a more than meets the eye kind of vibe. However, that just made the last portion of the book too rushed and crazy to comprehend as layer after layer of who did what unfolded.
The premise was interesting to begin with, and I enjoyed the character/story build up for Emma, who is one of the three sisters and the main suspect. I also enjoy multiple PoVs and timelines in general so it was fun to hear everyone's side of the story in this dual timeline setup.
However, all that still didn't add up enough points in favor of this book for me...I was really just waiting to get it done.
The narrator Karissa Vacker does a great job.

My rating is 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley, Flatiron books and Macmillan Audio for providing me with the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you for providing me with this ARC of No One Can Know. Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me. Had I not been so close to my end of the year reading goal, I would have DNF'd this book. The story started out intriguing enough but it quickly became cyclical and boring. I didn't find any of the characters interesting or worth routing for. The mystery felt disconnected and hard to follow. Normally, I enjoy a duel timeline trope but there just wasn't anything interesting about the character's storyline that made me want to care. I really enjoyed Marshall's previous novel so I was disappointed that this one didn't hold up.

I was able to receive an audiobook advanced readers copy of No One Can Know. The plot intrigued me and I had read some good reviews on this title. It started out slow, but once it picked up, it didn’t end. It was full of twists and kept you guessing throughout. At some points, though, it was a little difficult to keep track of each person in the present and the past. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

I thought it was twisty, and the ending was wild but overall I don't think this book really added anything to my life. I didn't need this story and these messy liars lol I think I was more irritated with the secrets than enthralled by them. I found Emma pretty insufferable, her devotion to shitdick Nathan was really pissing me off yet I'm somehow sad her baby won't have a dad. The fact that Emma said she wanted to kiss Gabriel at the end of the book like girl no. Don't. I thought JJ was a classic fuck up and didn't have a ton of dimension to her character and Daphne was the most interesting I wish she had been the mc!!! I think most of my disgust was that their parents were awful and I didn't care that they were murdered. All that to say I'm giving it 4 stars. I did enjoy it. But I just really enjoy KAM's paranormal shit a lot more.

I normally don’t like books where a crazy event happens and then some odd years later they all join together again to hash it all out. BUT this was done so well! The narration was good too. The characters were easy to follow and it really kept my attention with everything happening. Kate Alice Marshall knows how to write a twisty thriller. I have enjoyed her other books as well.

This was an excellent domestic thriller. 3 sister haven't been back to the house their parents were killed in and they also haven't kept in touch with each other, but when one sister needs a place to live she and her husband decide to move back to the house, the house her parent were murdered in. But is it bringing up more than memories? Is the real killer wondering what she is doing back at that house? And why are the other sisters back too?

I enjoyed this one a lot this is my second book by this author and she will be on my auto buy list!

This is narrated by Karissa Vacker who never disappoints she gave everyone a voice and emotions!

I highly recommend this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and
Macmillan Audio for this ARC.

Unfortunately this was a miss for me. I found the book to be repetitive and hard to follow with the three sisters and only one narrator. I did enjoy the narrator, but it was a tad confusing on audio with the back and forth timelines.

I enjoyed this authors last book and I would read more from Kate in the future. I just didn’t love this one.

𝗡𝗼 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 by Kate Alice Marshall

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆
I loved this book! From the very beginning I was hooked. Emma and her husband move back to her childhood home and also the place where they were murdered. Everyone in town thinks she was the one who did it. Was it her? One of her sisters? Or someone else entirely? Kate Alice Marshall does such a great job writing multiple POVs and different timelines. Each chapter leaves you with a little bit more, and when you think you've got it all figured out- you're wrong. I loved the twists and the ending. Highly recommend.

The audiobook was great! Karissa Vacker is one of my favorite audiobook narrators so when I saw she was narrating, I jumped on this so fast! I listened at 1.25x speed and it was perfect. You could definitely listen faster and be able to comprehend every word. If you're looking for a new audiobook, definitely check this one out when it comes out!

Thank you to Netgalley, Kate Alice Marshall and DreamScape Media for an ALC!

Emma, Juliette, and Daphne have never spoken about the night when their parents were murdered. Since that night they have drifted apart....

When Emma tells her husband that she is pregnant, he has some news for her as well. He has lost his job; they have no money, and their apartment has been sold. With nowhere to go, Emma tells him about her family home which she owns with her sisters. They move into Emma's childhood home and the past comes knocking. Everyone assumed that Emma killed her parents, but with everyone pointing their fingers at her, will the killer ever be found?

This was a gripping tale about family secrets, relationships, family, and murder. This book kept me on my toes and trying to figure out whodunit. There was a nice number of twists and turns which had me guessing and second guessing the identity of the killer. There is also a shocking reveal which I did not see coming!

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a terrific job.

Gripping, twist filled and shocking.

3.5⭐
Genre ~ domestic thriller
Setting ~ Arden Hills (maybe New Hampshire)
Publication date ~ January 23, 2023
Est page Count ~ 336 (then 56 chapters +now)
Audio length ~ 10 hours 15 minutes
Narrator ~ Karissa Vacker
POV ~ multiple 3rd
Featuring ~ dual timeline ~ then and now, murder, infidelity, child abuse

Emma, Juliette/JJ & Daphne's parents were murdered in their home 14 years ago and the house has been sitting vacant since. The sisters are estranged and the case was never solved. Some of the small town folks think Emma did it, but Emma and husband, Nathan, have fallen on hard times and decide to live there since it's free.

None of the characters were particularly likable in either the present or the past. I figured Nathan was going to be exactly who he was and frankly I'm tired of these husbands and their crap.

Overall, it was pretty predictable with a run of the mill plot. I suppose I liked it well enough, but I was bugged by when in the then timeline things were said like; on a Saturday afternoon less than 12 hours before their parents will be shot to death..., 2 months more of less before she..., 9 hours before she tells the 911 operator her parents are dead. You get my drift. This would be fine if they were having flashbacks, but the story seems to be told as they are living it in the then, so I don't like it. Now I'm wondering if it was written as a sort of heading in the actual book? Please someone confirm that has read it. I suppose if so then that would be fine~ish. BTW ~ this didn't affect my review, just pointing it out.

Narration notes:
A wonderful job done as usual. There was a slight, yet noticeable, distinction between the sisters voices.

This was the book that never ends, it goes on and on my friend…..

No One Can Know follows sisters Emma, Juliette , and Daphne. Their parents were murdered 14 years ago and who did it still remains unknown with Emma being the person in interest. Emma returns to the house the murders occurred and the past is dug up. This book takes family secrets to a whole new level and proves the bond of sisters is stronger than ever, right??

This book was a very very slow burn that really dragged. The end did reveal a few twists but it was really underwhelming for me. What Lies in the Woods was a DNF for me so this just may not be the author for me.

I did love the narrator of this audiobook and found her very clear and engaging.

Thank you to NetGalley, Flatiron Books, and Late Alice Marshall for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

It’s been fourteen years since Emma, Juliette, and Daphne’s parents were brutally murdered in their home. The sisters have been estranged ever since. Newly pregnant and with no other options Emma goes back to the family home, but the town hasn't forgotten that the murders remain unsolved, and she was the primary suspect.
Karissa Vacker was superb on the audiobook narration. It definitely kept me guessing as I suspected pretty much everyone at some point. There were some parts that felt redundant, and the middle of the story lost a little steam for me. 3.5 stars rounded up. Will continue to pick up Kate Alice Marshall books in the future.

No One Can Know is a thriller/mystery full of twists and turns. A whodunnit where no one can be trusted, I was kept wondering who killed the parents and what was everyone’s true motives. A great, quick listen or read!

I was so excited when I started this book. The storyline intrigued me. The beginning definitely sucked me in. Her parents and husband worked my nerves also. It had me hooked to see what happened.

As the book went on, though, I felt like it was just too much. Ever chapter ending in some kind of twist. There is so much happening after lagging for a while in the middle. It kinda made my head spin with the back and forth. I can totally see what the author was trying to do, but again, I just felt like it was too much, and the story could have been cut down some.

The audio was well done and totally hit the vibe of the book.

Thank you MacMillan Audio for sending me this ALC to give my honest review.

4+ stars

This was a twisty and compelling thriller that kept me guessing until the end. The reveals were unexpected but seemed well-planned. Although I wouldn’t say I liked this book as much as the author’s last novel, I still quite enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what she creates next.

Oh my, this book is so very dark and twisty, there’s no way I could have guessed all the things that were going to happen!

Three sisters who have mysteriously not kept in contact over the years need to move back into their childhood home, which their parents were killed in years ago. The case was never solved, but the story slowly unfolds as it flashes back between present day and the time of their murder as well as perspectives from each of the 3 sisters.

The only thing that bothered me is that the characters weren’t very likeable.. is this important in a thriller? I find that if they are interesting characters, I enjoy trying to figure out how they came to be this way and can overlook and sometimes even revel in their deviousness, but it really depends on the book. And this story did have great spooky vibes. I was constantly questioning everyone and everything I thought I knew, which made for a wild ride.

Karissa Vacker has a wonderful voice for narrating thrillers, you can just hear the fear and vulnerability in each of the women's voices. Honestly I'd give a chance to any thriller she narrates!
