The book was very intriguing from the beginning but then I found the ending to be not as entertaining as the rest of the book . It got kinda difficult to keep the characters straight at the end . Still recommend this book !
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review

What in the actual hell? I must first tell you that this whole book plays out with little suspense until the last 20% of the book. The beginning had a fantastic start, only to take a few left turns. Okay…..
The story starts where Iris Walsh is on a call with 911. She just witnessed her twin sister’s kidnapping right in front of her eyes. Years later she is traumatized from the events that unfolded that night. She just can’t get over the disappearance of her twin sister, Piper. What happened to Piper and is she still alive?
Determined to do her own investigating, and with years of school behind her, she takes an internship at a state hospital on an island. Why? The man she believes is responsible for Piper’s disappearance and or possible murder has been sentenced there. Iris is so obsessed for answers that will stop at NOTHING to get them.
Sounds juicy, right? I was hopeful too….. only to be taken down a long distracting road. This story starts bringing in other plot lines that really didn’t do much for the story. Yes, we learn Iris and Piper had a shitty drug fueled mother….. life wasn’t fair. Then we take a tour of some possible romance that I really couldn’t care less about. Then we have the strong willed grandmother who has raised these girls, only to find out Gran is hanging on a thread with her health.
I wanted suspense and a brain teaser and that just wasn’t in the cards. After The Wives and this one, Fisher just isn’t for me. However, many people love her and maybe so will you.
I’d like to thank Harlequin Trade Publishing, NetGalley, and Tarryn Fisher an ARC. All opinions are my own. Expected Publication date March 19, 2024

This book gripped me from chapter 1. It was a fast read that made me compelled to get to the end so I can find out the mystery's resolution. Although I found the end to be a bit outrageous in plot I was very entertained and highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it started off slow but after half way in I realised it was keeping me on my toes. I couldn't put it down and needed to know what was going to happen next. And, indeed, when I did, Tarryn Fisher, you blew my mind once again!!
