I thoroughly enjoyed Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher!

Twin sisters, Piper and Iris are raised by their grandma because their mom is an addict and mentally incapable of taking care of them. In their early teens, they go to the movies with boys they met through a fellow high school student, when Iris is taken. She disappears and the detectives on the case don't believe Piper's story.

Fast forward to YEARS later, when Piper gets an internship at a hospital on an island for the criminally insane where she believe the answer lie to her sister's disappearance. She gets close to the head doctor and she finds out a lot more than she bargained for!

I was completely drawn in to this story...it had me on the edge of my seat, made me stay up way too late, and I finished reading in record time! I found the ending to be a little rushed, but that may be the only negative for me. I would have loved to see it stretch out over a few more pages!

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC of this psychological thriller!

Marked as DNF @ 21% on 3/24/24 | I hate everyone in this book. That's essentially why I'm not finishing it. I can't stand listening to how stupid every single person is. Piper is kidnapped. The only witness is her twin sister. WHY exactly are the cops just totally not believing anything that she's saying? Everything is a struggle, no one believes her, life is so hard, blah blah blah. And yet she's also a perfect special snowflake who gets into this super prestigious program for literally no reason that the author does not tell us. Just to talk to someone who might know where her sister is, I guess?

I hated every character. They're all cut-outs of an actual personality but failed to develop anything of interest or give me a reason to care about this story.

As I do when I decide to DNF, I looked up the rest of the book and HOO BOY, I'm so glad I didn't finish this. The ending has a twist that I would have made me throw my book across the room, which is bad because this was an audiobook and I'm listening on my phone and it's not worth the damage. (The audiobook narrator was also incredibly blah and did not make this experience better.) This was some Freida McFadden-style popcorn sh!t which I am not here for. Happy I didn't finish this.

A gripping thriller that is twisty right up until the end!!! Tarryn knows how to keep you guessing! Once I started, it was hard to put down... I needed to know what happened next!

Fisher just doesn’t miss. She will keep you guessing to the last page and sometimes after that too. I am so glad I gave this one a try! I am thankful for the ARC

I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of this one. I love this author, but this one just left a lot to be desired. I’ll give it another go soon!

I've got whiplash! What just happened? The last 20% of this story are worth the wait! The begging showed a lot of promise, the middle fell flat for a minute, but the end was cray cray!

It opens with Iris Walsh on the phone with 911. Her twin sister was just kidnapped right before her eyes. She's completely traumatized and spends the next 10 years devastated over the loss of her twin, Piper. Is Piper still out there? Where is she? Why hasn't she come home? Is she dead? Murdered?
Taking justice into her own hands, Iris gets an internship at the state hospital because she believes the man who kidnapped her twin is there and she wants answers.

Gran is a great character and the tension comes to a head in the last parts of the novel. If you enjoy Tarryn Fisher, you will enjoy this installment of her dark mind.
3.5 stars.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
I think this is my favorite book by this author. I literally could not stop reading it.
It’s about twin sisters that went to the movies with some boys when they were teenagers and one of them disappears. The police were no help, convinced she ran away. But she knows her sister was taken.
She takes a job at a locked mental facility where she is certain her sister’s kidnapper is.👀

Iris's twin sister, Piper, was abducted as a teenager. Nine years later Iris is still searching for any clues to her sister's whereabouts. She has accepted an internship on an island home for the criminally insane because she believes the final piece to the puzzle is there. Iris gets much more than she bargained for.

The twists and turns of this one will keep you guessing until the final chapters. The way Fisher untangles and reveals all of the pieces of Iris and Piper's story is masterful. Definitely a great suspense novel.

Tarryn has done it again with her infamous writing! She never seems to sail you with suspense and shock. If you want a story about pure revenge….. This is it!

This is a very twisty book, which I’m all for. I don’t love books about twins or even siblings (especially sisters) for some reason, but I did like this one. It definitely hooks you and leaves you wanting more. While I like Tarryn Fisher’s books in general, this one was a little too much in a way. It was a quick red for me and I will definitely seek out more of the authors books.

Tarryn Fisher never disappoints! This book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next!

Enjoyed the book. A lot of back and forth between past and present, and a few aspects were far fetched. But in the end, I was still hooked in the story and wanted to see how it ends !

This book hooked me from the very beginning. The ending was a bit predictable, but in the end, it was overall good read.

The first half of the book was strong and exciting. The last half of the novel made me excited for it to be over with. It wasn’t bad enough to DNF but the plot felt incredibly underwhelming and underdeveloped. The twist at the end was obvious and it is a tired trope.

Another great book by Tarryn Fisher! This was one I did not want to put down. Iris saw her sister get kidnapped but unfortunately no one believed her, and the cops did nothing to help her or do much in a way of finding what happened. I think any twin, or sibling would want to find out who kidnapped their sibling and find justice. Iris goes to great lengths to find out what happened all those years ago as she is not able to move on until she finds what happened.

Tarryn creates a great story, the first part doesn't have much twist and turns but towards the end, things change and they change quickly. All of a sudden things are happening and you can feel the truth is about to be untold. Great book and not the ending I was expecting which is great as many times with psychological thrillers you already have an idea early on

GOOD HALF GONE
Tarryn Fisher

First, let me say, I was a big fan before I read GOOD HALF GONE. Second, I STILL AM.

GOOD HALF GONE stars Iris. Iris’s sister was kidnapped right in front of her eyes. Iris has had a lot of trouble getting over her sister's disappearance. She has built her life around the sequences of that horrible day her sister was kidnapped. And many years later it is still the most horrible thing that ever happened to her.

We meet up with Iris when she goes undercover at a local mental hospital to get information about her sister’s disappearance. We follow as secrets are uncovered and motives are revealed in Tarryn Fisher’s GOOD HALF GONE.

GOOD HALF GONE didn’t work for me. The characters' quirkiness was distracting and caused a tonal shift that I did not appreciate in a thriller. Each character seemed to be constructed by throwing a dart at a wall. All those elaborate details detracted from the story. It felt almost comedic.

Nothing in the synopsis led me to believe humor would be involved in a kidnapping scenario.

I am a big Tarryn Fisher fan and I have followed her career for years. I want her to win, it’s just not happening this time with this one. I’ll still be here requesting, reserving, buying, reading, and discussing her work.

Thanks to Libro.fm and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for the advanced copies!

GOOD HALF GONE…⭐⭐⭐

I want to say more about this story, but it is difficult without spoilers! I liked Iris. I liked that it isn't entirely clear what happened, and I liked how it is revealed through the story. I did see the twist coming, but not until right before, so it makes me wonder if I was right on time. Pairing the book with the narration gave extra tension! This was definitely an atmospheric novel. I guessed the twist pretty early and was screaming at Iris most of the book, but that could be because I have read a lot of thrillers and can see twists coming usually. There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book, namely Iris, her dedication to her sister eventhough she was hit with road block after road block. The police were no help and it just made me feel so sad and frustrated for her and her family. There were a lot of story lines that I felt didn't pan out though, or have much to do with the story and that did bother me. I just wanted them to have a resolution.

I was excited to read this book after enjoying The Wives but this ended up falling flat for me. The beginning was strong, but the middle dragged and felt choppy at times. I found myself avoiding reading this one rather than it being something I looked forward to. Thank you to the publisher for this ARC.

This one started off slow, and I totally caught the twist early on. I liked it, but didn't love it. I'm giving it four stars!

I did not love this one. I liked Iris as a character, but the story did not grab me. I also felt like the twist was a little too far fetched. It was still decently written, and I will continue to check out Tarryn's books in the future.
