A beautiful cowboy love story. Just the right length to read in one (long) setting. Clean and very well done just as we expect from LoveStory books.

Virginia creates a story that grip you from the first moment to the last page. Her stories are wolfing with mystery, Spence and Love. I can’t wait to read her next book.

Penny Jackson left everything behind after her young daughter becomes the sole witness to a bank robbery, after the FBI fails to keep them safe she takes matters into her own hands, fleeing to a small town. But even that doesn't seem to be enough, can they stay safe with the help of police chief Caleb Harmon?

When Caleb sees Penny and Missy in need of protection, he jumps in to help them find a solution. He admires Penny for her mothering, and relationship with her daughter. I liked how Caleb has a solid group of friends, as well as a solid faith in God.

An action packed read with great characters, strong faith, and a well paced plot. Missy is a darling child, and I loved how being in a secure environment made her feel safe again. An engaging read, hard to put down with great characters!

Penny and her daughter are on the run after her daughter witnessed some bank robbers faces and now can identify them. Clearly they don't want to get caught and now keep going after her. One on the instances of them being nearly caught again Caleb the local police chief will do everything he can to protect these two by all means.

I really enjoyed this book. There was just so much going on that I couldn't put it down. Penny's daughter was so young and deeply disturbed by all that is happening and by her actions it really shows. Penny would do just about anything to protect her child and its that fierce protection that caught Caleb's eye and it was interesting seeing how he played his part. He though he could simply put her in witness protection and that it all done but it was more then just that as bodies pile up and plenty of close calls happen and it was interesting seeing how they got through everything and how it eventually ended. Overall really great book if if you like suspense mystery books.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Cowboy Protectors series. I have read the first two books in this series before picking up this book, but I do feel you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. This is a fast paced action filled story with a ton of suspense and a little bit of romance worked into it. I loved how the romance was done in this book. I also loved the little girl in this story. Once, I got pulled into this book I did not want to stop reading. Great Read. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Virginia Vaughan) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

It Will Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat

Dangerous Texas Hideout will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to the pages. The suspense starts from the very first page and does not let up until the very end.

From the moment that Caleb meets Penny and Missy, he gets the feeling that something is not quite right, and little does he know how spot on his feeling is. As Caleb and Penny work together, one surprise after another spurs them forward in an attempt to keep Penny and Missy safe while trying to discover who is behind everything. It had me holding my breath and guessing up to the very end. Elements of romance and faith that were rolled into the mystery and suspense made it a perfect combination, which also makes it a story that should absolutely not be missed.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed it. It was also a quick read. But with like the majority of Love inspired Suspense the faith is awesome as always.

Dangerous Texas Hideout was my introduction to Virginia Vaughn. I liked the twist that came from the ending. In addition, I appreciated all that Penny went through to keep her daughter safe. Little Missy stole the show. From her response to her mom pulling out backpacks to leave again, to the cry-for-help picture she shared with Caleb. I had my doubts about one character. But I didn’t expect the dynamic of that person’s relationship with the bad guy.

Dangerous Texas Hideout by Virginia Vaughan
(Cowboy Protectors Book 3)
Seeking refuge from danger…
with threats at every turn
When her daughter is the only witness able to identify a group of bank robbers, single mom Penny Jackson knows their lives are in danger. These men will do anything to keep Missy quiet—permanently. Escaping to a small Texas town was supposed to be safe, but when the criminals track them down, police chief Caleb Harmon becomes their only hope for survival…
This is Penny Jackson, daughter Missy and Caleb Harmon's Story.
Penny Jackson gripped her daughter Missy’s hand as they stepped out of the grocery store and into the humid Texas afternoon. She scanned the parking lot for any hint of danger, as had become her custom anytime they ventured outside since fleeing their Kentucky home sixty-seven days ago. She’d stayed away from town as long as she could, but they’d been out of food and necessities, so she’d finally had to take a trip to the grocery store to resupply.
Cars and people came and went but nothing stood out to her. Seeing no obvious threat, she gripped the child’s hand and hurried across the walkway to where she’d parked her car. A man passed in front of her, tipped his cowboy hat and smiled. He was tall with a strong jaw and green eyes that might have made her smile back a few weeks ago, pleased at the attention. Today, she gulped hard before acknowledging him with nothing more than a nod, then quickly moved past him. He was wearing a police uniform and the last thing she needed was police involvement.
“My name is Caleb. I’m the chief of police here in Jessup. You’ve had a close call. It’s okay to be a little shaken but you’re safe now.”
Oh, how she wished that were true.
“I—I think we’re okay, officer.”
His mouth turned up on one side. “Caleb, please.”
She allowed him to help her to her feet, ignoring the flutter in her stomach that had more to do with the man who’d swooped in and saved them than it did their near miss. She turned and quickly checked Missy over. She seemed to be uninjured except for the scrape, but she was scared and with good reason.
Caleb pulled a radio from his belt and clicked on it. “This is Chief Harmon. Send a team to Walker’s Grocery. We have a near hit-and-run. Also, put out a BOLO on a silver Nissan Sentra. The driver nearly ran down a woman and her child, then kept going.” He rattled off the tag number then turned to Penny. “Do either of you need to go to the hospital?”
I recommend this book.

My description …
Penny, a single mom on the run with her six-year-old daughter because little Missy saw the bank robbers when the FBI agent guarding them was killed. People want her little girl dead. Penny & Missy land in a small Texas town, but the criminals track them there. Police Chief Caleb Harmon rescues them once but will he do it again and again? And how did the criminals find them?

My review …
Dangerous Texas Hideout is part of Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith. I had not read any of these until I became a NetGalley reviewer. Now I look for them on NetGalley. I have found them to be consistent in the following: a good mystery, a touch of romance, a believable Christian foundation and aspect. And this book does the same.

From the beginning, I was hooked. The book is the third in the series, Cowboy Protectors; however, it can be read standalone. There is a hint of the first two books as those characters do appear; the “hint” is well done by the author.

Virginia Vaughan is a new author for me but not new to these suspense books. this one makes me want to read her other titles.

Characters you will like: Well, just about everyone except the bad guys. Caleb is that policeman in a cowboy hat that you can just envision as a caring, very capable, man that you can trust to do what he says. Penny beats herself up — a little too much in my opinion — for even being in the bank with her little girl when it was robbed. I really liked a character who shows up in the latter part of the book, Hannah. She was like a mother to Caleb when he was growing up. All of us would love a Hannah in our lives and Missy instantly takes to her. Those cookies they made HAD to be chocolate chip. They weren’t but if Hannah was in MY kitchen, they would be.

Who is doing it: I had NO idea who it was. And frankly, I don’t think you will either.

This story is what I call a "charming mystery". Put this one on your “to-read” list. It’s too good not to.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of Dangerous Texas Hideout via NetGalley from the publisher, HARLEQUIN – Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This story was a miss for me. I liked the setup in the first half but the second half was just too much of a stretch to believe. Law enforcement seriously doesn't know a bit about checking for trackers when someone's been mysteriously tracked cross country? Doesn't think someone's in danger on the ranch if she just got found at a secret off grid fishing cabin? The story style didn't flow well either past the halfway mark, feeling choppy and more about telling than showing. I liked others in the series better than this one.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

Dangerous Texas Hideout by Virginia Vaughan is an action-packed tale. I liked Penny, Caleb, and Missy. I felt for Penny who is trying to keep her daughter safe. The story moved at swift pace. I enjoyed the mystery, suspense, and action. There were some twists and turns along the way. I liked seeing Caleb and Penny’s faith grow over the course of the story. The underlying theme throughout the story is that no matter what, God is in control. As a worrier, I know how hard it is to let go and trust God. While Dangerous Texas Hideout is the third book in the Cowboy Protectors series, it can be read as a standalone. Dangerous Texas Hideout had an uplifting ending that left me smiling.

A quick read suspense novel that features Penny, her daughter Missy and Caleb a lawman. When Penny's daughter Missy sees the faces of bank robbers, she and her Mom are taken into protective custody. But things escalate out of control quickly and Penny and Missy take off on their own. Enter Caleb a small town lawman who runs into the pair and offers his help. Follow these three as they try to stay out of the clutches of the hired killers and bring the robbery ring down. I enjoyed this easy read but found the relationships happened so fast there wasn't any character development.

I was gifted this book by the publisher through NetGalley and all opinions are my own.

Dangerous Texas Hideout is an exciting, unputdownable addition to the Cowboy Protectors series! The action-packed plot kept me immersed in the story from beginning to end. The well-crafted characters captured my heart and had me rooting for a happy ending. I enjoyed reconnecting with characters from the previous two books in the series. I especially appreciate how the author seamlessly weaves faith into the narrative with the reminder that God is in control no matter the circumstances. If you enjoy books with plenty of suspense along with a dash of sweet romance and inspiring faith lessons, this is a must read for you. I look forward to the next book in this Inspirational Romantic Suspense series. Note: Even though this is the third book in the series, it works well as a standalone read.

Page turning romantic suspense. Glad I finally discovered this series. I am eager to read the next one and would love to read the prior ones too. Even though I thought certain I had it figured out I was only partly correct. Nice to be surprised. Delightful group of characters, excluding the bad guys, of course. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
