Cade's sister was kidnapped and it seems the person is after his nephew next. Officer Ashely and her K-9 partner will do everything they can to protect Cade and his nephew but also help find his sister who was kidnapped. As they get closer to the person behind this it looks like the stakes are getting higher.

This was a pretty good book I really enjoyed reading it. there was plenty going on to keep the readers hooked. There was a better romance and seeing everyone fall into a comfrotable pattern of almost being a family. There were the times that popped up here and there or the sister would try to reach out to them or they were they would almost seems close to figuring out who was behind it all and why and it was just an overall fun read.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I was pulled into this story right away. I really connected to the characters in this book. This book has a lot of suspense and action with a little bit of romance mixed into it. I really loved the K-9 dogs in this book. I love a book that works animals into the story. The only thing I really did not like about this book was the ending because I felt the story just stopped there was no true end in my opinion. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Laura Scott) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This is an action-packed romantic suspense that hooks you on the first page. Cade and Ashley's story has just the right amount of drama and suspense to keep you turning the pages. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of clean romantic suspense.

Starts with a bang and takes you on a winding road. Cade (rancher) is out with his baby nephew so his sister can get some rest. He goes to meet her and she is kidnapped. Ashley is our rookie FBI K9 Agent who is out an about when it all goes down. Ozzy is the K9 and any dog lover will appreciate this book, as we meet several K9's and officers. New series that is off to a great start. There are plenty of suspects and things are popping all over. One of the red herrings I thought for sure would turn out to be the real mccoy. Fooled me. There is plenty of suspense and Cade deals with it all, the day to day and the main issues with faith. I appreciate how Laura Scott shows you that faith can be day to day enrichment. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #BabyProtectionMission #MountainCountryK9-Unit1 #LauraScott #LoveInspiriedSuspense #Harelquin #NetGalley

Officer Ashley Hansen and her K-9, Ozzy, are assigned to protect rancher Cade and his baby nephew after kidnapping of the child's mother.

Meanwhile ranchers are being murdered, can Ashley and Cade keep Danny safe, while putting a stop to the threat. A suspenseful read, filled with action, great characters and good interaction. Ozzy is a very well trained dog, skilled in his specialty of search and rescue.

Overall, a great introduction to a new series, wonderful as a stand alone or as the entry point for the overarching larger plot. I admired Cade's strong and steady faith throughout. A highly enjoyable and entertaining read!

The cover alone is a magnet for this book.
Cade McNeal is a man of faith who cares about family. He decided to give his sister a break and takes his one-month-old nephew with him for a walk. Everything seems to go crazy. Someone tries to grab the baby from him. He sees his sister Melissa being kidnapped.
K-9 Officer Ashley Hanson is having a rough time with her assigned unit. There is open animosity toward her because of her father. She is thrust into a dangerous situation when she sees a kidnapping and an infant in danger while out with her partner Ozzy.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this first book in the new Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I want to thank author Laura Scott, publisher Harlequin Love Inspired and NetGalley for this action-packed book. I really enjoyed it. I could tell several characters of the K-9 Unit were introduced in this story. It shows the importance of the trained canine protectors and trackers. The animals definitely provide comfort. I want to read this entire series.

His sister Melissa’s text said to meet her at Elk Valley Park. Cade was there. Holding his nephew, baby Danny. And then things get ugly.

One of the kidnappers headed for him and the baby. They ended up grabbing Danny’s mother, Melissa. Did the kidnappers really want Danny? Who were they? Why? Danny’s only one month old. And why Melissa? All Cade knows is he will protect Danny with his life. And he will do everything he can to get his sister back, unharmed.

A black lab wearing a K-9 vest along with a female officer runs by him. Her name is Ashley Hanson and she is on a multiagency K-9 task force team to find and capture a serial killer. The team leader acts as if her father (FBI) made a call to add her to the team and if that’s the case, she can’t blame the team lead. It makes her angry as well. Shortly, she finds she can *attend* the task force meetings but she is assigned to protect Cade and little Danny.

You will grow to love K-9 Officer Ozzy. He’s search-trained and excellent at his job. I have a friend who participates in meets for agility AND for search. Her Charlie keeps getting better and better at both, often winning the top awards. And guess what breed her dog is? So I was intrigued to see how the author utilized Ozzy in the story. I was not disappointed; the bond between Ashley & Ozzy is close. Did you know that a search dog such as Ozzy can hold one hundred million UNIQUE scents in their brain? I didn’t either. Ashley uses a different word for each “seek”, for example, “Seek Glove” or “Seek Melissa”.

There are reasons Ashley hadn’t said a prayer — well, in a long time. But Cade is a praying man. It is something that I don’t think the character thinks about — like, I ought to pray about this. Instead, he just prays. He wears his faith like a favorite old sweatshirt. His faith is part of him and Ashley finds comfort when he prays.

The attack in the park is not the last time the kidnappers try to get Danny. And they are dangerous. They will kill anyone who gets in their way as long as they get the “kid”. Ashley may be a rookie but she’s a good cop and Cade finds that she is willing to watch Danny while reviewing reports, etc. while Cade does ranch chores. The more they are together, the more each appreciates and likes the other. Then it becomes important that nothing happens to that person … … …

Turns out there are several people who might want to grab Danny — all for different reasons.

I’ve read and reviewed several Laura Scott suspense books and truly enjoyed reading this one. It has a dog; I have a dog. Okay, he’s not a searcher like Ozzy but he a treasure to me. The story has intrigue. The continued attacks keep the story suspenseful. And I genuinely appreciated how the author handled Cade’s faith so it was just part of him.

As always, Laura Scott provides suspense and romance to her stories. Thank you to Harlequin and Net Galley for a wonderful read. Can’t wait to read her next book.

I would read this book just by looking at the cover with the majestic black lab showcased on the front. Ozzy is the K-9 featured on the front cover, and he will quickly be your favorite character.

Cade is taking care of his nephew, Danny. when his sister comes running out of the woods instructing him to run and keep her son safe. Someone kidnaps her right in front of Cade. To say he is traumatized is not even a good word. He has no clue who would want to kidnap his sister.

Ashley is an officer with the Elk Valley Police Department. Ashley and her K-9 officer, Ozzy, are first on the scene. Ashley is tasked with keeping Cade and Danny safe until they can figure out what is going on. The mystery was interesting, and the author provided plenty of suspects to choose from. I always enjoy a book with a K-9 in it. Ozzy plays a major role in this mystery with his sniffing skills and protection skills. The faith thread is interwoven into the story as both characters have to lean on their faith for survival. The suspense really snowballs toward the end of the story. Both characters have some things in their past that have left their mark on each of them, but it also brings them closer together as they can feel each other's pain. This is the beginning of a new series known as the Mountain Country K-9 unit. It is a great start to what I know will be a wonderful series showcasing K-9's.

Ashley is also part of the Rocky Mountain Killer Task Force as they are looking for a killer, which I assume will build as each book is released.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Cade McNeal is giving his sister Melissa a bit of a break. He has his nephew Danny with him when he is suddenly grabbed by a man whose intent is to grab Danny. A shout, Stop! Police! foils his attempt and before he can do anything about it, the man grabs Melissa and shoves her into a van. The woman who shouted was dressed in plain clothes and was accompanied by a dog. As it turns out, Rookie K-9 officer Ashley Hanson stopped the man from grabbing Danny, which was actually his intent. She is accompanied by her K-9 partner, Ozzy. Ashley is new in town and has just been added to a multiagency task force with hopes of tracking and catching a serial killer.

As a rookie officer, Ashley is excited that she will be a part of the task force, but with the sudden kidnapping of Melissa, Ashley is immediately reassigned. Her new boss insists it is because she was a witness to the kidnapping, and also due to the fact that her partner Ozzy is excellent when it comes to tracking.

The serial murder case is a big deal, and Ashley excitement from becoming a part of the task force was clearly short-lived and now she feels stuck. Guarding over Cade and Danny, and searching for Melissa, well this is not what Ashley had in mind. Quite naturally, Ashley wants to quickly reunite Danny with his mother, but that task force was important to her.

This warm and engaging story has Cade and Ashley as excellent characters, characters who sense an immediate connection, despite what is going on. Ozzy steals many scenes throughout, and if you like dogs, you will love Ozzy. The romance was sweet and the intrigue and action went a long way in making this first book in the Mountain Country K-9 series a compelling read, and I do hope I get to read the other four books in the series.

Many thanks to Love Inspired Suspense and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Kept Me Guessing

This is a great mystery, with a blend of romance and faith rolled into it. The story grabbed my attention right at the beginning. The pacing was just right where nothing felt rushed or too slow, and learning about the K-9's was an extra special perk. It also kept me guessing right up to the very end. The perfect blend of suspense, intrigue, romance, and faith makes this a story well worth reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing me with a copy of this book. All opinions and comments are voluntary and completely my own.

Ashley is assigned to protect Cade and his nephew after his sister, Melissa is abducted when an attempt on her son failed. The story was quick paced and broad but not deep. Cade and Ashley had growing feelings during their forced proximity. Their histories and appreciation for one another was sweet, but the constant statements of needing to distance themselves from one another because of the unfortunate circumstances didn't really reinforce their depth of feeling.

I could tell that this was the beginning of a series where other barely mentioned characters would return. Unfortunately, I felt like there was too much going on for this one story to feel complete. The overall storyline of the series is left completely undone, while Cade's sister's abduction was solved.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing an ARC of this title.

Baby Protection Misson by Laura Scott
(Mountain Country K-9 Unit Book 1)
When a baby is targeted,
Can a K-9 team keep him safe?
When his sister is kidnapped, rancher Cade McNeal will do anything to prevent his baby nephew from being next. Now Officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner are on the case, and it’s up to them to track down the assailant and keep Cade and his nephew from harm. But as the suspect list grows and the attacks escalate, will they bring a kidnapper to justice…before he strikes again?
This is Cade McNeal, sister Melissa and baby nephew Danny's story.
This is Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner's story.
Something was wrong.
Tugging his brown cowboy hat low on his forehead, rancher Cade McNeal cradled his one-month-old nephew, Danny, to his chest as he scanned the area around him. His sister, Melissa, Danny’s mother, had been acting strange lately. Jumpy, nervous and, of course, exhausted from caring for her son. She’d asked for some time alone to sleep, so he’d taken the baby with him to the store to pick up ranch supplies for the McNeal Four Ranch they’d inherited from their parents following their death six years ago. After picking up the necessary supplies, he’d lingered in town to give her extra time to sleep, buying packs of diapers, other baby supplies and some toys.
“Stop! Police!” Another female voice reached his ears. The masked man abruptly shoved Cade forward. Now it was his turn to be caught off balance, his booted feet slipping on the snowy ground. When he felt himself falling, he twisted his body so that he fell on his right side to protect Danny.
He struggled to sit up as a woman dressed in gray slacks and a puffy black coat, accompanied by a black dog, ran toward him. Cade turned to look for the masked man in time to see him brutally shove Melissa into the open door of a dark van.
Melissa screamed, but then there was only silence as the assailant jumped in behind her and slammed the door. Whoever was driving took off.
I recommend this book.

A great suspense and love story. It genuinely had me guessing up until the last minute who the suspect was. It was also just the right pace of developing the story and sharing the details.

Officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner are working on a cold case that has turned hot with new murders. Cade McNeal is in town with his infant nephew waiting on his sister when he is attacked, and they have kidnapped his sister and want the baby.
Ashley is a witness to the attack and is now working the case. Ashley is staying at the ranch with Cade for protection for him and the baby. They are working together to piece the clues together in who has his sister and wants the baby. Seems there are a lot of suspects.
Well written; held my attention, can't wait to see what is in store for the cold case conclusion.

Baby Protection Mission by Laura Scott starts off with a bang when Cade McNeil’s sister is kidnapped. I liked the characters in the story. I enjoyed getting to know Abbey and Cade. I especially liked Abbey’s K9 partner, Ozzy. There is an abundance of action and suspense along with a touch of romance. There are two mysteries as they search for Cade’s sister and the Rocky Mountain Killer. While one mystery is resolved, the other will continue in Her Duty Bound Defender. Faith is nicely woven into the story. I liked seeing Abbey grow stronger in her faith. I appreciated that Baby Protection Mission is a clean story (no foul language or intimate relations). I enjoyed reading the engaging debut of Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
