DNF - this was just far too old-fashioned, and cloying to the extent it was quite cringe-worthy. Really not the read I, or a junior version of myself, would ever enjoy.

I didn't expect to find myself crying at a book about a turtle! This was a lovely heartwarming story about the long-lasting friendship between a boy and a turtle, as well as all the other friendships he developed. Truly magical!

What a heartwarming story about Martin and his parents who go to Three Tamaracks every summer. One day Martin meets a turtle he names Myra, and they become friends. Papa tells Martin “all he had to do was watch and listen closely… a whole new world of sights and sounds… will open up.” Martin begins talking to Myra and meets an otter and snow goose. As Martin comes back every summer he realizes how happy talking to the animals makes him. One day he kayaks through a creek and meets a girl, Cress. As years pass, Martin comes back to see Myra. He sees Cress again. Could there be a future for Martin and Cress? What happens when Martin says goodbye to Myra?
