This was a fast and sweet read with an opposites attract setup. I liked that it wasn't insta-love and that forced proximity really got Ren and Fitz to connect and peel away the layers. I wasn't sure about their chemistry at first, but as the story went on, I was definitely rooting for them to have a HEA. I didn't love the ending, but it makes sense, given the source material. Would've definitely loved an epilogue to get more closure.

This is classic Christina Lauren with a Disney twist -- a riff on Rapunzel. Think childhood friends turned romantic leads, a heroine who’s been sheltered (literally and emotionally) and a journey of self-discovery that ends with love and a life she chooses for herself. It's cozy and heartfelt and *adorable.*

Cute retelling of Tangled, which is one of my favorite Disney movies. Light and fluffy and enjoyable the entire way through! The characters are both so sweet and I enjoyed hearing their story. It felt like reading a Disney movie.

Ren, our modern-day Rapunzel, has spent 20 years living off the grid and is finally stepping into the college world—what a big leap! Fitz (our Flynn Ryder/Eugene Fitzherbert) is the perfect match, complete with his Mustang named Max—a fun nod to the movie’s Maximus.

The authors did an excellent job capturing the Tangled spirit, and Ren’s sweet naivety paired with her witty humor gave the story a lovely YA vibe. The road trip detours and their growing connection added some really cute moments.

While the pacing felt a bit slow at times, I still enjoyed the journey and the unique spin on the ending, even if the farm scenes felt a little unexpected.

Overall, a charming, heartfelt retelling with plenty of fun touches—I’m giving it 4 stars!

I really enjoyed this take on my favorite disney story! That being said, this story is a bit more on the YA side for this author that I normally associate with more spicy writing. It is a fun ride, and a great adaptation!

Love, love, love this book! Christina Lauren are some of my favorite authors and I"m glad I finally got the chance to get this one read from my large stack! Love this re-imagination of a Disney fairy tale! Pick this one up!

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is pure magic! I will always read anything that this power duo publishes, and I loved that this is something different than what they normally write (I also love that they are Disney fangirls themselves!) The enchanting romance between the characters feels like a modern-day fairy tale, reminiscent of Disney's most beloved stories. The witty dialogue and heartfelt moments make this book an absolute joy to read. If you're looking for a story that will sweep you off your feet and leave you with a smile, this is the perfect choice! Thank you to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for the ARC!

This was cute, but not my favorite Christina Lauren book. I found it hard to get into and while the premise was good, the execution didn’t work for me. Didn’t really buy the tension with the main character or the chemistry with her love interest. Really just thought it was mediocre from a typically super strong author.

This was such a cute, fun read! I loved the banter and chemistry between the characters, classic Christina Lauren vibes. It had a really cozy feel, and I flew through it. A couple parts felt a little rushed, but overall it totally hit the spot for a light, feel-good romance.

This take on Rapunzel was not my favorite. It was cute and a quick read. Ren was a little immature I felt like but it was just not my favorite.

I haven’t read all of Christina Lauren’s books, but the six I have read were incredibly fun. This book was my seventh, and the streak continues. It’s such an easy story to fall into and have a great time with the characters.

Christina Lauren’s Tangled Up in You is a charming, inventive take on the Rapunzel legend, reworked into a heartfelt contemporary romance. The story follows Ren, a brilliant and sheltered young woman raised off the grid, as she enters the vibrant world of Corona College—and the path of Fitz, a by-the-book student whose orderly life is thrown into disarray. Their unlikely connection begins with a classroom project and quickly turns into an impromptu road trip filled with humor, tension, and slow-burning attraction. Ren’s curiosity and ingenuity make her instantly lovable, while Fitz’s guarded nature gradually gives way to something much softer. The dynamic between them sparkles with warmth and wit, reminiscent of classic opposites-attract love stories. With just the right mix of romance, self-discovery, and a dash of whimsy, this novel is a delightful blend of fresh storytelling and emotional depth that feels both timeless and entirely new.

I tried. In general I love Christina Lauren but this one started so podunk and I had the hardest time getting sucked in. I think I DNFed before 20%

I had high hopes for this, but the over protective vibes of the parents did not give Tangled/Rapunzel vibes, but instead overbearing and weird vibes. The romance felt a little rushed, but was a quick easy read.

I received an ARC of this book over a year ago. Reading actual books (versus listening) takes me so much longer, so I just simply put off reading this book. I'm glad I picked it up. It was romantic and sweet. Unlike other books in the "Meant to Be" series I thought this book was a good derivative of the movie Tangled. It was cohesive and made sense, and the references made sense.
This book is about Ren, a 22 y.o who grows up off the grid, on a homestead in Idaho. The book opens with her going off to college, her first time away from Steven and Gloria, her parents, and they have some very strict rules while she is at school Monday-Friday. At school, she meets Fitz, who she has been warned about. Ren however is innocently sweet, and her naive charms help Fitz fall for her. This book is about an improbably roadtrip and the fallout that happens because of it. While the story was far-fetched, at times, it was engaging and entertaining. I can imagine any fan of Tangled would appreciate it.

Super cute and fun book. I loved the characters and the plot. It was a lot of fun and now I want to read the others in this series. Thank you for my free review copy.

As most all other reviews have mentioned, this is a Tangled retelling. I love adaptations of fairytale stories, and this one was cute - but maybe a bit too YA for me.

Ren is off to college to explore new things when she has Fitz as her guide.

I loved Ren, but I did not like the back and forth with how Fitz treated her. I know, I know. He’s the grumpy guy, but I felt he was a little *too* big of a jerk at times.

Thanks, Netgalley, for the book!

This is a cute modern retelling of Disney's Rapunzel films. This is part of a series of one offs that fit the modern Disney retellings genre. It fits all of my romcom needs in the sense that it is cute and low stakes. It also does a good job of still being original in its own way.

Christina Lauren delivered a charming Rapunzel-inspired tale in Tangled Up in You. Ren, raised off the grid and stepping into the world for the first time, is bookish, brilliant, and endlessly curious. Fitz, her grumpy counterpart with a perfectly mapped-out life, doesn’t stand a chance once she enters it. Their unlikely bond forms during a college seminar, leading to a road trip full of surprises, revelations, and slow-burn romance.

The nods to the original tale are clever—Fitz’s Mustang named Max is a perfect touch—and Ren’s innocence brings a slightly YA feel, balanced by witty banter and heartwarming chemistry. With a sweet grumpy/sunshine dynamic and just enough angst, this is a delightful twist on a classic.

At the beginning of this book I really wasn’t sure that I would finish it. I didn’t love the way the “homesteaders” were portrayed and it felt too sweeping instead of pointed at their character… I understand the source material, so I tried to read it as the mother gothel character, and not a dis on growing vegetables? (Maybe it was me) I thought that our FMC was a bit too naive in a lot of ways, but then super smart in others and that was hard to get behind. It was a fun easy read tho overall.
