This was a super sweet romance, and a great addition to the Meant to Be series. The Tangled/Rapunzel story gets a modern-day take where Ren has to convince her parents, who live completely off the grid, to let her go to college. She has received a full scholarship and just wants to keep learning and explore the world around her more. Fitz is the school's "bad boy," who Ren is warned of right away. But they team up when Ren needs a ride across the country to try and meet some possible family members. I liked the angle Christina Lauren took to bring this story into a modern day world. Highly recommended for all romance readers and lovers of Disney movies.

really enjoyed this one—4 stars for sure. christina lauren knows how to write characters you can’t help but root for, and the chemistry between the leads was definitely there. like, you could feel the tension building up, and when they finally got together? satisfying, no doubt. but, if i’m being real, the slow burn did drag a little longer than i wanted. sometimes it felt like the angst was stretched out just a bit too much.

still, the emotional moments were real and hit in the right places. the banter was fun, and i loved the way the story balanced humor with some deeper stuff. i wasn’t obsessed obsessed, but it’s a solid, fun read if you’re into slow burns with emotional payoff. christina lauren definitely delivers on the charm and chemistry, but it didn’t hit me quite as hard as some of their other books. still a great read overall!

This was such a fun and imaginative retelling of Tangled!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🫑 - no spice

I immediately fell in love with Ren and all of her quirky little mannerisms. I also loved how the authors made it so she (begrudgingly at times) made everyone fall in love with her as well just because of how genuinely kind she was.

Fitz was also a character I grew to love after getting to know more about him and his backstory. The way he started out hating her but then slowly started to warm up was so fun.

I actually wish we would have gotten more of an ending than we did. I wanted to see what they were getting up to after that ending purely because her reactions to everything were so fun.

There really wasn’t any spice but my GOD do I wish we could have read about them finally going feral for each other. But we can’t have everything I guess lol

I highly recommend this one if you are a fan of fairytale retellings set in a modern world. You’ll be laughing at her reactions and will be so ready for that first kiss moment.

❤️ Big thanks to Hyperion, Christina Lauren and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions!

Mehhhh. I love love love Christina Lauren. Like seriously such a huge fan but this was one book I couldn’t get into. I mean I tried. I really wanted to love it. Rapunzel is one of my favorite Disney princesses and there was so much bling for it but I couldn’t finish the book.

This was one of my favourite books of 2024! I loved the Tangled inspiration. I was pulling for the sweet female main character. Such a great love story!

This one took me a while to get through it. It was an interesting take. Not my favorite if the series, but still a good read!

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren was a solid, easy read, but I have to admit, it didn’t totally blow me away. The story follows two characters, Coben and Aria, who are caught up in a complicated situation. I liked the chemistry between them, but I didn’t feel as invested in their romance as I’ve been in some of Christina Lauren’s other books. It’s still fun and full of their signature humor, which I always enjoy, but I found myself skimming at times.

This is such a clever retelling! I adored how it was brought up to present day, and I looked forward to each new detail discovered. Christina Lauren is the perfect pair to tackle this latest retelling!

I know this was a Tangled retelling, but that ending STILL gave me a heart attack. It was honestly a great read and all of the characters were nicely done - still had elements of the original characters we know and love while also adding some depth to them. Overall a fun read for those who want more Tangled.

Christina Lauren hit it out of the park with this modern day reimagining of Tangled. This emotional adventure brings its fair share of challenging topics (as one would expect with a retelling of Tangled) but as always they are addressed in a mindfully tactful way in the typical Christina Lauren fashion. This is a great option for someone looking for a quick read to help get past that reading slump and will leave you ready to dive into more!

I always love Christina Lauren, and this retelling of Tangled/Rapunzel was so fun! While it's not my favorite of theirs, it was still a solid rom-com read for me.

This is a modern-day retelling of the Disney story of Tangled - the tale of Rapunzel. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when I picked it up, but it was really sweet. I loved how I could follow along with the cartoon I knew and loved, and yet it had a fresh feel to the story in a more modern sense.

Ren has lived off the grid with her parents on their farm since before she can remember. Between homeschooling and working on the farm, she has been busy, but now at 22, she has finally convinced her parents to allow her to go off to college - with the caveat that she stay off the grid as much as possible and come home every weekend.

Fitz is a popular guy no campus and comes across as the rich, ladies man type. But there's a lot more to hiim than meets the eye, as Ren starts to learn when she finds herself in a class with him. One thing leads to another with a class assignment, and the two find themselves off on an adventure leading them across the country.

I really enjoyed how the book took the traditional cartoon and moved it into a modern setting, and yet it didn't feel too artificial. Did I sense what was coming next? Yes, but that was half the fun!

Thank you to Hyperion Avenue and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy. All opinions are my own.

I love Christina Lauren and Tangled Up In You is just another book added to the list of books I loved. Tangled Up In You is a story where opposites attract but both have goals and both have end games. But when these two cross paths, their lives take a turn and they go down a path neither one of them thought they would. I love the relationship Ren and Fitz have and they truly are meant to be together.

I have a confession- I’ve never seen Disney’s Tangled, or read the story of Repunzel. I know, I know, some princess fan I am! But when I saw this twist on Repuzel was available, I just HAD to try it out because Christina Lauren can make me love any story they write ❤️

Ren is raised off the grid on her parents' homestead. While she has been homeschooled her entire life, she decided to take the opportunity to attend a typical college for her education. Our other main character is Fitz. He’s the dreamy boy, completely opposite to Ren in every way. I loved their journey of self-discovery as they traveled on a road trip together. Full of joy and magic, Christina Lauren does it once again.

I loved this. Absolutely loved this. Tangled is probably one of my favorite Disney movies and I thought this spin on it, though absolutely different than the movie, was really well done. There were some small nods to the movie that made me grin (Fitz's car is named Max, when Ren and Fitz set off on their adventure Ren goes back and forth on whether or not she is a bad daughter) but for the most part, this book stood on its own which I appreciated because I didn't want a modern retelling of Tangled. I wanted something unique and different and this book really delivered on that.

Ren and Fitz were adorable - I really loved how Ren was both smart and naive but a good reader of people. Fitz had his walls up HARD but the moment he started to fall for Ren they came crashing down and it was such a treat to watch. These two communicate well and I liked that. I liked that a lot actually. Other romance writers, take note. The last few Christina Lauren books have been such a miss for me personally that it made me so happy to see that this one was the exact opposite. In fact, it might be my favorite thing they've ever written. I didn't even mind that both the leads read young (I could see this as YA instead of adult) because it was EXACTLY what I needed. Will be re-reading again for sure.

For a modern interpretation of Rapunzel/Tangled, the authors did an excellent job. While Ren definitely didn't feel believably naïve as a freshman in college, the plot requires her to be so most readers should be able to suspend disbelief. The romance was believable, the plot moved at a quick pace, and overall its was another solid entry into the Meant to Be series.

2 stars

This is a 2 star review not because it is bad, but more because it doesn't deliver like other Christina Lauren books do. I knew this was going to be a retelling of a Disney story but I was hoping that CL would give it a little more spice. I'm writing this review a couple months after I read the book and I honestly had to remind myself of what happened. Too bad, but this one was largely forgettable.
