Thank you to Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for the eARC of Tangled Up In You in exchange for my honest review!

If you know me at all, you KNOW I’m obsessed with anything that Christina and Lauren write. They are some of the best romance authors in the game right now so I was thrilled when I got an advanced copy of this! I’m not a Disney adult but I do love Tangled so I was sure I’d like this.

It was super cute, I loved how they were able to modernize the story and make it feel really happy and cozy. I knew most of the plot beats but the predictability wasn’t a detriment. Definitely enjoyed this one!

I've read many Christina Lauren books and this is at the top of the list, I loved it! To be honest, I didn't realize it was a retelling of Rapunzel or Disney's Tangled until after I finished the book and read other reader's reviews. Ren is delightful, someone people radiate towards and Fitz is powerless to resist. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and lost sleep finishing this book in one day. I will now always keep an iron skillet, a pocket knife and a roll of duct tape at the ready, ten stars from beginning to end!

This was such a delightfully fun book. I have been loving these modern retellings of fairy tales so when I found out one of my favorite writing Duo was going to be doing one. I definitely needed to read it. And this book did not disappoint.

I love the fact that you get sort of a road trip element as well as a bit of romantic suspense. I would say that it is a bit more of a PG romance than the other books they write so it was a little different but no less of an enjoyable read.

As you can tell by the cover, this is a tangled/ Rapunzel retelling and it really gives it the classic story that you're used to but with a modern twist. I highly recommend this book.

What I Didn’t Like:
-The vibe coming from Ren to open this book is obnoxious. She’s written to be naive and sheltered but she comes across as selfish instead. That does change, eventually, but it takes a bit.
-The book feels more YA than adult. That’s likely owing to the fact that this is based on a fairy tale (Rapunzel), the characters are college students, and one of them has lived a very sheltered life. Overall, you get a cute YA romance vibe from this one for sure.
-The book didn’t need that last paragraph, but that’s just my opinion. It felt too forced.

What I Did Like:
+The change that comes over the character and the entire vibe of the book following an early class assignment revelation is intense and welcome. Just as you’re ready to give up on this character, the switch is flipped and things move in a new direction. It’s perfectly timed.
+Great fast action from the arrival in Atlanta to the end. You’ll want to read that part all in one sitting!
+The modern spin on the Rapunzel fairy tale is well done. There’s enough of the fairy tale left in it to be pleasant and all the modernization makes SENSE!

Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of the Tangled movie who want a modern retelling.
-YA romance fans who want a cute romance wrapped in a road trip story.

As far as the writing goes, it was well done. However, the story just wasn’t for me. It was just okay… I love this writing duo but it took me quite a long time to get through it and I usually can read through a book very quickly.

This was a solid Christina Lauren book! Humerous, sweet, and just a ton of fun! A perfect escape. It is definitely not my favorite by them, but it still served the purpose of giving me the romance fix I wanted. I enjoyed the characters and the setting was fun and unique!

WOW. This is my first Christina Lauren book and I honestly am so happy I started with this because it was just the cutest little story. I absolutely loved Tangled so a reimagining was right up my alley. I loved Ren and Fritz and I think they embodied the perfect grumpy/sunshine trope and the forced proximity beautifulness! It had some really cute moments and I ate it up, that’s for sure.

Not your typical Rom-Com!

Who knew Tangled Up in You was a retelling of a Disney movie? (Not me apparently, lol! - Thanks for clueing me in Kaceey!).

What started out as a fairly lighthearted enjoyable read turned into something else (which I predicted from the start (and I hadn’t even seen the movie the book was based on. How about them apples?!). Ren and Fitz’s story was sweet, albeit predictable, while Ren’s entire storyline was a tad unbelievable. That said, this was a quick easy read and it kept my attention throughout.

I always look forward to Christina Lauren’s novels and can't wait for her next book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hyperion for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hyperion Avenue, and authors Christina Lauren for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This retelling of Rapunzel was very sweet. Ren is an extremely sheltered 22-year-old who finally convinces her overbearing parents to allow her to enroll in college classes. She meets Fitz on campus and, after only knowing him for a brief time, embarks on a cross-country road trip adventure. Mystery, romance, and hijinks ensue.

While this was a very adorable read, I felt it would fit better in the YA genre. Some awkward moments might have been more excusable if they were both younger.

Overall, a lovely light read for lovers of a Disney-esque story + ending.

Christina Lauren does it again! This book was dynamic and exciting from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book and recommended that my library buy it for our patrons. This author is an automatic read for me always!!

What a freaking adorable book! I could not stop smiling the whole time I read this book. Christina Lauren did such a good job making Tangled modern while still making this its own thing.

I enjoyed this take on Rapunzel and Christina Lauren's jump into YA. Ren is a sheltered, homeschooled, off the grid kid who goes to college and meets Fitz. A mystery, cross country trip ensues with love blossoming along the way. I love that this take on Rapunzel wasn't a complete retelling but rather an inspirational motive.

📌 “He’d wanted to touch many women in his life. But he’d never so badly wanted to deserve one before.”

I didn’t plan to read rapunzel retellings back to back — more on this later — but here we are. And *here* is a beautiful place.

This one is for all her Tangled girlies.
This one is for all the Flynn Rider girlies.
This one is for all the girls who refuse to stop being kind, who refuse to stop having dreams, who refuse to let the rain ruin their sunshiny souls.

This is for the girls who grew up with Disney movies and stories about faraway kingdoms.
This one is for us.

Thank you Christina and Lauren for a book I truly got lost in.
Thank you for a story full of so much heart.
A story with so much character.
A story made with this force that only comes from those who know that the dream commands life.

Girl meets boy.
Boy both likes and despises girl.
Girl likes boy.
But girl also loves life. More than anything. To live. To be alive. And maybe boy makes her do just that 😜

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is noted as a modern day version of Disney's Tangled.

Ren has lived a secluded life She lives with her parents in a remote part of the country without any modern conveniences. She is self taught . She wants to go to college at the ripe age of twenty two and finally convinces her parents to let her go in exchange to follow their rules and to return to the farm on the weekends to complete her chores.

This book fell very short for me. The only real similarity I could find is that Ren has long hair and was kept secluded.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for sending me an ARC of "Tangled Up In You" in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion.

Just finished "Tangled Up In You" by Christina Lauren and it's a delightful reimaging of Rapunzel—I loved every bit of it, especially as "Tangled" is one of my favorite movies! Christina Lauren masterfully weaves in movie references like the frying pan and the Snuggly Duckling, adding an extra layer of charm to the story. Despite knowing the main storyline, I was kept thoroughly interested, and the reveal still managed to surprise me! However, I felt the ending was a bit abrupt, and the "epilogue" seemed like an afterthought. Overall, a fun and enjoyable read for fans of fairy tale retellings!

The concept is intriguing- it had me wondering right away exactly *why* Ren had to wait so long to leave home for university. WHY couldn’t she tell anyone where she lived? WHY did she have such specific chores? Was it to manipulate her or to her benefit? Sooo many questions.

Are her parents benevolent? Or are they the enemy? And what about Fitz? Charm boys - ugh. We all know how that turns out, right? But what if he isn’t as bad as most charmers are? What if (gulp), the attraction Ren feels is really something worthwhile? Then again…that’s what charmers make you wonder.

The story was not typical Christina Lauren, but it was a fun fairy tale reimagining told with creativity, although the ending was a bit abrupt. I would have rather the middle cut down a little and more time spent on crafting all the fine details of the end. I think New Adult is probably the perfect age group for this book- it did feel young, but perhaps not YA.

Hear me out, the beginning of this book is kind of cringey and awkward. I also can't say I knew ~for sure~ what the plot would be but I generally had an idea and was correct.

Regardless, I really loved watching Ren and Edward's relationship grow and seeing how sweet they were together. It was also refreshing at points to see things we seemingly overlook in our day to day lives through the lens of someone who's only ever grown up on a homestead with her two parents.

If you like a little bit of romcom and a little bit of mystery, this might be the book for you! 🙂

Thank you always, NetGalley, for the eARC of this book. ❤️

The Rapunzel Revive you didn’t know you needed!!!

Christina Lauren gals are back at it again but this time with a Disney classic reimagined. The authors took the story of tangled and gave it a modern twist. Ren as Rapunzel and Fitz as Flynn they stayed true to their character inspos. The story though was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing with a twist at the end that you’d never believe. I FLEW through this book in one sitting as I usually do with a Christina Lauren book but this is exactly what I needed to get me out of a reading slump. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy and thank you Christina Lauren for the amazing retelling!

I really enjoy Christina Lauren, fairy tale retellings and thought Tangled was cute - so seeing what this one was I was pretty hopeful.

While it was an interesting concept, it unfortunately just did not come together for me. I guess I didn’t really think about what a contemporary romance retelling of Tangled would be like. The story struggled to hold my attention and read a bit young? Felt more YA than romance 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love the authors and will definitely read more from them in the future. But from early on I could tell that this particular book was a mismatch for me personally. However, I definitely think this one will find its audience and will certainly be a popular one for many.

Christina Lauren stayed right on pace for ensuring that this modern day romance had Tangled vibes. I'm not the die hard girlie for Disney like so many others, so maybe that's why I'm not giving it 4 or even 5 starts. I think knowing that was the intention, they definitely nailed it, but as far as story that is captivating to ME - it just fell on the meh factor. That's definitely not to deny Christina Lauren's ability - they still hold my favorite book ever title. It's just this particular one wasn't all for me.
