Iโ€™ll read anything Christina Lauren writes because they have a way of writing that makes you feel so immersed in the story. If you love Disney princess movies and the modern Tangled, then this is a sweet and great retelling. For some reason I just didnโ€™t connect a whole lot with this bookโ€ฆmaybe because Iโ€™m not a total Disney movie fanatic. Honestly, my husband would probably love this book. ๐Ÿคฃ This book wasnโ€™t bad by any means, it just didnโ€™t make me feel all the feels and it read more like a YA book. If it wasnโ€™t a Disney retelling, I would probably find the cheesiness of it to be way over the top, but it kind of worked for this book. This is a cute light hearted book that is perfect for all Disney lovers!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance review copy in return for an honest review. This book was super cute but with how short the tomelone was, it was hard to believe they would fall out in love so quickly. Especially since before the road trip, fitz didnโ€™t really care about Ren that much. But other than that it was a really sweet book!

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is toted as a modern day version of Disney's Tangled.

Ren has lived a life that is not typical in terms of modern day. She has lived with her parents in a remote part of the country without any modern conveniences. She is self taught and supposedly brilliant. She desires to go to college at the ripe age of twenty three and finally convinces her parents to let her go in exchange for promises to follow their rules and to return to the farm on the weekends to complete her chores.

I have a feeling I am going to be in the minority. This book fell very very short for me. The only real similarity I could find is that Ren has long hair and was kept secluded. The fact that Ren called her parents by their names and not by mom and dad made it feel to me that she had an idea that things were not as they seemed.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies so I had to read this and it did not disappoint. This was such a fun, witty, romantic retelling of Tangled. Ren and Fitz had such great banter and chemistry. I was left wanting to follow along on more of their adventures. I highly recommend giving this a read if you love romance novels and Disney stories.

Thank you Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for the digital arc copy in exchange for my honest review.

I love this series so much. Taking the story of Tangled and making it almost like a cult like captured the story perfectly.

I am obsessed with this book. I've loved everything that CLo has ever published and this book is NO EXCEPTION. During the pandemic, my household was under the chokehold of Tangled and I found myself scouring the internet for halfway decent Rapunzel and Flynn Rider fanfic because my brain couldn't let go of how amazing this animated romance would be if put into adult hands. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT CHRISTINA LAUREN WAS TAKING IT UNDER THEIR WING AND GIVING IT THE LIFE I ALWAYS WANTED AND IT WAS PERFECTION.

Wether you were as obsessed by the Disney characters as I was or not, you will absolutely find this romance delightful and just *chef's kiss* IF YOU ARE A FAN, you will love it that much more when you see the little nods to the original animation (I mean a white Mustang convertible lovingly named Max?!!?!?!?!!!! I loved it). The heart of the story is woven throughout the completely original storyline that these authors have conjured up for us.

We have a girl that is excitingly, yet hesitantly, stepping out of her closed off world and community for the first time to attend University. She is used to a very sheltered life on a very isolated homestead and her parents are willing to let her off on this adventure if she comes home every weekend and adheres to their strict rules. For us (and others on her university's campus), this might seem wild, but to her, she doesn't even realize she is being restricted. With this newfound freedom and exposure to a new world, she finds herself making small exceptions to the rules to see if she can find herself, and when one of those small exceptions blows her whole world up, she enlists (maybe threatens to blackmail) the school's popular and well-known heartthrob into being her guide on a life changing journey.

He is the grumpy to her sunshine, and she is the safety he never realized he was looking out for. They set on out the roadtrip of a lifetime and help change each other for the better. It is swoony and magical and is poignant, in true Christina Lauren fashion. I could not put this story down and it fulfilled all of my Tangled dreams and more. I already want to reread it!

Do yourself a favor and pick this book up!

I love a good Rapunzel telling and was so intrigued by this one - a modern day take on the story of a sheltered young woman hidden away from the world finally going out on her own.
Ren has grown up isolated on a farm with her parents, hidden away from society and most of its modern day conveniences - ie, the internet. Now, at 22, she convinces her parents to let her attend college, where she accepted on scholarship despite having never gone to an actual school, as she tests extremely highly.
Itโ€™s there that she meets Fitz, a senior with a reputation of a rich bad boy. When she catches him breaking into a professorโ€™s office to change one of his grades, she strikes a deal with him - she gets to accompany him to Nashville for spring break. She found her world start to crumble around her after taking a voluntary DNA test for a science class, and thereโ€™s someone in Atlanta she wants to meet.
I was surprised by this book - it ended up having much more emotional depth and tension than I anticipated. I liked how the authors used the Rapunzel/Flynn Ryder characters as the basis for theirs, while adapting them to fit a modern story. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat, and I enjoyed the chemistry between Ren and Fitz. Ren was naive, but not stupid, and that juxtaposition was handled really well.
Iโ€™d definitely recommend this to fans of Tangled and those who love a good modern fairytale retelling.

Part of the Meant To Be series in which fairy tales are given a modern retelling, this was a retelling of Tangled/ Rapunzel and it was really cute. Ren is a genius and had never been to school and finally convinces her parents to allow her to attend university. She stand out a lot, mostly because she is amazingly kind and helpful, but also because she has never experienced many things we take for granted. Plus she has the most gorgeous long, lush hair.

Enter Fitz, who is a little threatened by Renโ€™s intelligence but canโ€™t seem to stay away from her. They end up going on a road trip together, Ren discovers a lot about herself and Fitz. It turns out her parents are not who they say they are and everything Ren has ever known is a lie. It was pretty stinking cute, read more like YA than adult.

Christina Lauren never disappoints. Their characters (itโ€™s two friends writing together) have a way of making you feel like you know them and always root for them. I was turned on to this author first with the โ€˜Beautifulโ€™ series, and have yet to find a book by them I donโ€™t like. Donโ€™t just read this one, read every book they have written. You wonโ€™t be sorry!

This reimagining of Disney's Tangled is cute and quirky! I thought the kidnapping angle was handled well and that the romance managed to shine despite having a heavier topic in the background. The romance was a little too insta-love for my liking but I know many library customers who will love this one. 3.5 stars!

I could not have asked for a better combination here - a fairytale retelling of one of my favorite Disney movies AND itโ€™s by one of my favorite authors?!? This was such a fun read! I found myself having to watch Tangled after I finished reading. So cute! Thank you Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for the egalley in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed reading "Tangled Up In You" by Christina Lauren and had a hard time putting it down. Described as a modern reimagining of Tangled, this book was filled with everything a modern fairytale needs.ย

Ren is a simple girl, never having attended school or left her homestead, she sets out on an adventure - to attend college. When she first meets Fitz, she describes him as someone who could easilyย carry a newborn calf. These types of comparisons throughout the book depict Ren's simple upbringing. While Fitz puts on a good front at school, when they are alone he becomes softer, more caring and protective ... "You ok Sunshine?" Maybe he's not such a bad guy after all.ย The love story of Ren and Fitz takes them on a road trip of a lifetime. One that teaches Fitz the valuableย lesson ofย learning to slow down so you don't miss the details that make life's special moments so memorable.

I was able to easily connect to Ren's innocence and saw many similarities with the movie Tangled. I would say this is more a YA book, but very enjoyable for a quick read and a must read for any Disney lover.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for sending meย an ARC of "Tangled Up In You" in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion.

I absolutely adored Tangled so I knew going into this story I was probably going to fall in love and I definitely did!

Ren was such a fun and lovable โ€˜Rapunzelโ€™! She was quirky and charismatic, and quickly charmed everyone that met her. I adored how insanely smart she was, having taught herself her whole life.

Fitz was a multilayered MMC. He has a darker past that he is desperately trying to overcome. He didnโ€™t want to let Ren derail his plans, but before he knew it, he was completely enthralled by her!

The forced proximity of the cross country road trip was perfect for building the sweetest slow burn! Ren is a very innocent heroine so I loved that the story was kept strictly PG.

There was a ton of giggle inducing scenes throughout the book. The bar scene was freaking perfect! I laughed through the whole chapter.

The mystery surrounding her parents and the plot twist at the end was great! I felt like the ending was a bit fast, and some things were left without a definite closure, but overall that didnโ€™t take away from the story for me!

I love all of Christina Lauren's books - and this one was no exception. My only complaint is that it ended kind of suddenly and I didn't feel that the last little blurb gave enough closure to the story. I would've preferred there to be a couple page long epilogue to show where Edward and Ren were a few years after the events of the book. It just felt like I was left wanting more.

What can you say? If it isn't broke, don't fix it. This is a classic Christina Lauren story, though the first time that they've brought their style to the YA genre. Anyone who loves fairy tale retellings, HEA, and watching love unfurl will fall for this story too. But I admit that I miss the extra elements from their adult novels.

Tangled Up In You takes readers on a modern retelling of Disney's Tangled. Reader, meet Ren. She hasn't been off of her homestead during her life, doesn't know what it is like to have a cell phone, and trusts her "parents" completed. Now, meet Fitz. He is the guy who seems to have it all; however, he might have a more intricate back story than meets the eye. Through unforeseen circumstances, these two end up on a cross-country road trip leading to adventures they could not have predicted.

I typically stray away from re-telling stories. They have never been my jam, and I routinely find them boring. In spite of that, I decided to give this one a try because I have always enjoyed Christina Lauren novels. This story was no let down. I was hooked from the start. My Disney loving heart was captivated from the first chapter. I highly recommend any reader looking for some nostalgia with a modern twist give this one a try including any skeptics of re-telling stories like myself prior to this story.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this story.

HUGE Tangled and CL fan and this book filled my heart with so much warmth. I enjoyed how it was not 100% the same but I could still feel the nods to the movie!

Christina Lauren is the perfect author team to retell Tangled. Delightful to see familiar characters transported to a modern setting.

Ok ok ok, this isn't your regularly scheduled Christina Lauren programming, except that it kind of is? There is some adorable banter. And these two kids are cute, and hot for each other. BUT it's also a retelling of Tangled, and that is admittedly hard to do, and I am impressed that Christina Lauren did it. These two can do anything. Ren has lived a very very sheltered life on her homestead with her controlling parents Gloria and Steve. Ren is also a beautiful (of course) genius who has managed to leave the homestead for the first time to go away to college. Fitz is the charismatic, Austin Bulteresque student she meets when she first arrives on campus. Of course, her roommate tells her to not let Fitz into her pants, which is a setup for definitely wanting to let him into her pants. Then this totally wild story happens where Ren has to go on a secret mission to Atlanta (not gonna spoil that), and Fitz is headed to Nashville, so Ren blackmails into taking her along. At first, Fitz is extremely annoyed by Ren's innocence, but then he falls for her kindness. She is EARNEST, and it would get annoying, but again, this is Tangled re-told. Yada yada, one bed in a hotel, long talks in the car, steamy looks, and Ren and Fitz start to fall for each other. It took me a while to warm up to this book, but eventually, I was hooked. That's the Christina Lauren magic.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book in exchange for a truthful review.
