This book was very cute, if mild. Best suited for young adult audiences. It’s a very fast read- I got through this book in two sittings. Anyone who has seen the movie Tangled will be very familiar with the plot of this book, so no big surprises. Two notable detractions- the ending felt rushed with ends only tied up in the loosest sense, and the premise of Ren’s upbringing and eventual discovery by the authorities was implausible, and yet very similar to a Ruby Ridge scenario. Not even changing the state!
I regret putting off this book for so long, and I did really enjoy it! It gets four stars from me, and I recommend it to other readers. Thank you to Hyperion Avenue for the ARC of Tangled Up In You, which is available now.

This was a really cute Rapunzel retelling. Obviously with it being a retelling readers will know the general storyline. However, I felt like the book was a little too predictable. Compared to the rest of the Meant to Be series, there didn’t seem to be any surprise to the plot, it was very predictable. A cute story, but I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if it wasn’t as predictable.

Christina Lauren coming in hot saving this series! I did not like the previous book (by different authors) but this one was perfection! Loved it so much.

HUGE thanks to NetGalley and Christina Lauren for giving me an ARC of this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this retelling! When I saw it was by Christina Lauren AND a Tangled retelling I was immediately in. I was super surprised with how quickly I devoured this book. I think it took me less than 7 hours to read this. The characters were so fun and interesting and lovable. Their dynamic unfolded so naturally and while somethings were a bit far fetched, it just added to the story since I knew the original movie plotline. There was very little secondhand embarrassment and I really really love how Ren was written. I wish there was more emphasis and explanation on Fitz’s life throughout the book rather than at the end, and we got more time with them at the end of the book, but this was such a fun read to get out of a slump.

It’s always lovely when you read a book and you can tell the authors love the source material.

Christina Lauren did a great job here with their reimagining of Tangled. There’s so many nods to the story that we all love, while also giving it their own fresh take and new spin on the story.

This was a lot of fun to read.

I wanted to love this one so bad but I just struggled through the first 25%. I struggled so much with Ren and her character. Christina Lauren did an amazing job putting this twist on Tangled and I hate that it just wasn’t for me but that doesn’t mean it’s not for you!

The Meant to Be Series is so fun, and this book is likely my favorite one so far. I like the dynamic between Ren and Fitz and the little element of mystery as well.

Great for grumpy/sunshine fans as well as fans of retellings of classic tales (this is a modern retelling of Rapunzel).

Thanks to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for early access to this title in exchange for an honest review.

My oldest daughter’s favorite movie when she was a toddler was Tangled so naturally I had to read this one! I thought the authors did a great job of paying homage to Rapunzel while putting their unique, modern twist on things and I’m a sucker for grump and sunshine.

I'm a big Christina Lauren fan, so I was excited to read this one. But after trying to get through it for four months, I'm tapping out at 28%.

This book isn't terrible. There hasn't been anything that made me say "this is it, I'm done!" I've been going back to it between books. And found myself barely able to finish a chapter at a time. So I'm calling it...

I think the problem with this sort of writing project (in this case, several authors took a fairy tale and made it modern) puts authors “in a box” and isn’t conducive to them writing their best stories. This is just another example of this. Previously I would have said this author could pull it off anyway - their book for the Improbable Meet-Cute series, The Exception to the Rule WAS fantastic. Alas, no author bats 1000 with all readers. And this one unfortunately was a dud.

As always, Christina Lauren's writing is stellar - they know how to craft a novel!
Unfortunately, I DNF'd the book because I just couldn't get into the story; I have to accept that new adult/college aged romances just aren't for me, and it's just because of how I am so removed from that scene and just want to sit them down and tell them to have some fun and they don't have to find their happily ever after RIGHT NOW.

I may try to read again in the future and see how it goes.

thanks for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Tangled Up In You is the fourth installment in the Meant To Be series, with this offering written by powerhouse duo Christina Lauren. And if you couldn't tell from the title, this is a modern retelling of Tangled/Rapunzel. I absolutely love the movie Tangled and was so excited to read this retelling. Ren (Rapunzel) was a homeschooler and grew up on a homestead with her parents but has recently been granted the opportunity to attend Corona College. There she meets Fitz (Flynn Rider), whose real name is Eugene Fitzherbert and is a hot soccer star (and super smart dude). A class project requires Ren to submit her DNA and she is a bit shocked to see her results and pretty much cons Fitz into giving her a cross country ride for some answers. Along the way there are some cute moments, funny interactions, and secrets shared. Overall this is an adorable Disney movie in book form. It is sweet and fluffy, no spice, and perfect for those that love closed-door romance or for the younger set just getting started with reading romance. I loved the nods to the movie and was so happy with this retelling of Tangled.

Thank you to the authors, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I ADORED THIS BOOK! Christina Lauren are a writing duo that write the perfect amount of com into their roms and this book taking a twist on retelling Tangled/ Rapunzel's storyline was so unique and entertaining! Ren and Fitz are so dang adorable and I just enjoyed how their characters both slowly revealed their storylines. AND we get a mystery aspect with Ren's story? Seriously this book was so fun. Even though it was a clean romance (no spice, just a few light jokes and a kiss or two)

1000% recommend - especially the audiobook! Patti Murin, Eunice Wong & Andrew Goibson did an wonderful time narrating!

Thank you NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

This was a different kind of book! I adored the slow-building romance and forced proximity because of the road trip. I loved Edward’s patience with her and how he wanted to give her the world! That was epic, and I loved how the book reminded me of a modern-day Tangled show. I adored this!
Ren finally can talk her old-fashioned parents into letting her attend college, she is 22 years old and is self-taught on everything and has never held a phone or used a computer or anything like that. Fitz is well-loved and is known as the Cassanova of the campus going through girls as if they are going out of style. Fitz gives Ren the campus tour and then she is the competition for his perfect grades and GPA. Well after taking a DNA test in one class Ren receives surprising results that her father is on the DNA list she is confused because her parents do not like technology and don't believe in anything like that and then when she finds out the man that she is calling her dad does not have the same name nor looks the same as her DNA match.
Then as luck has it she catches Fitz cheating and blackmails him to take her with him on his road trip during Spring Break. He reluctantly agrees and they have a whirlwind road trip and then Fitz realizes that he's slowly gaining feelings for Ren and realizes how naive she is Ren gains feelings for Fitz but the whole ordeal is confusing to her!
I loved this and I loved the motorcycle bar scene the most! It was a hoot! Worth the read. Thank you Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for the treat of reading and reviewing this one! I loved it!

The author's engaging stories and characters always suck me in, so that I don't want to put the book down. So it was with Tangled Up With You, a fractured retelling of Rapunzel. I was rooting for Ren and Fitz all the way and didn't even think about Repunzel until she cut off her hair..

Ren is beautiful, smart, extremely nice and very innocent, as she was raised on a primitive homestead. But something seemed off to me from the first chapter, with her relationship with her parents, calling them by their names, and no siblings, a necessity for homesteading. When she won a scholarship to Corona College, her parents reluctantly allowed her to attend, with very strict rules. Which she slowly broke. Sweetly innocent but feisty, she quickly wins everyone over- accept for Fitz. After meeting her roommate, Fitz is the second student that she meet, assigned by the Dean to show her around campus. Fitz radiates a persona of influence. He is the big man on campus, handsome, athletic wealthy, smart... but it is all a facade, as the author slowly reveals all his layers. He is out for revenge and sweet Ren is getting in his way. But when a genetic test in their biology class reveals that she has a biological father in Atlanta, she has to know the truth. And a simple phone call will not do. She blackmails Fitz into taking her as far as Nashville where he is heading for break. During their road trip, they learn a lot about each other, friendship and love. But will her scheming "mother" prevent her from learning the truth?

Tangled Up in You is a perfect modern retelling of the Disney Rapunzel movie! Christina Lauren's style really compliments this young adult story, it has a charming amount of sweetness and fun, the story is very well paced and the characters remain true to their fairytale counterparts. Christina Lauren does a beautiful job modernizing and paralleling moments from the movie and really playing into the road trip, forced proximity journey that the hero and heroine go on! If you are looking for a bubbly and charming heroine who is ethnically herself and for a bit of a misunderstood hero who likes to have fun an learns about what really matters, than this romance is the one for you! I would so highly recommend this novel, it is the perfect way to experience this well loved movie through the lens of the modern eye!
