I love the authors and most of their books! This one was entertaining, but it was not as good as their other ones.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.
I DNF at 22%. A bit disappointing because I love Christina Lauren and Rapunzel is my favorite Disney princess- but I could not get into this book.

Huge fan of these authors and will 100% book talk them with my patrons, but this one just didn't grab me, unfortunately. This was just okay for me. I didn't love the characters or buy into their connection. The mystery element was rushed and the ending was anti-climatic. Maybe it's an "it's me, not you" situation, and hopefully, the next one claims my heart!

I went in blind, did not know this was a retelling of Tangled. I do know…this is not your typical CL book. YA style, light romance with a slight side of mystery. I’d give it a 3 ⭐️ for being a good book, 2 1/2 ⭐️ for the anti-climactic ending, feel like we really don’t get closure for the main characters. NOT spicy at all.
I received this book from the publisher & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

I have read two of the three previous installments of the “Meant to Be” series, and after a lackluster showing for both, I was ready to call it quits. But then: A modern-day retelling of Tangled? By Christina Lauren, the current queens of the rom-com genre? Please sign me up!
Tangled Up in You tells the story of Ren, who has lived a pretty sheltered life and never gone to tradition school until she turns twenty-two years old and enrolls in college. There, she studies Monday – Friday under some pretty strict rules implemented by her parents before returning home to her parents’ homestead each weekend. At school, she meets Fitz, the dashing and witty ladies' man who seems to have it all. When Ren finds out some shocking news in one of her classes, she asks Fitz to let her accompany him on a cross-country road trip in his trusty Mustang, Max, and that’s where the fun begins.
Let me start by reiterating that I absolutely LOVE Christina Lauren, and Tangled is my favorite Disney princess movie of the past twenty years. Tangled Up in You lived up to all of my expectations. Christina Lauren did a fantastic job crafting a modern retelling of the story and truly captured the spirit of the characters. I found myself hearing Mandy Moore’s voice in my head as Ren experienced the world for the first time. Sure, this story isn’t realistic at all. But I think the point of fairy tales is they aren’t supposed to be, and at it’s core, Tangled Up in You is still a fairy tale. I read it in less than twenty-four hours – it was super-cute and fun, and I just couldn’t put it down.
In terms of the spice level, this is closer to YA since it's based on a Disney movie so don't go into it expecting anything too spicy. If you are a fan of Disney’s Tangled, or of Christina Lauren, pick up a copy of Tangled Up in You when it is released on June 25, 2024.
Thank you to Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book has sold me on fairytale retellings. What a fun book! I didn't think I could live Christina Lauren more, but I am continuously blown away. I am obsessed and highly recommend!!

This was my first experience with a true "retelling" of a fairytale/Disney movie, and I ended up really enjoying it. It felt a bit cringey at first, but eventually I was able to just go with the flow and learned to appreciate it for what it is: a light, fun, feel-good fairytale retelling.
It's your classic Grumpy x Sunshine trope, which I love, so you'll hear no complaints from me. The female main character, Ren, was so loveable, sweet, and fun, and I loved her approach to life. The male main character, Fitz, took a while to grow on me but he did indeed grow on me. Their relationship was sweet, but I felt it needed more "oomph". There was just something about it that was missing for me.
I loved the ways that the Tangled storyline was reimagined, and I loved all the little Easter eggs throughout. It definitely added something to the experience for me with how much I love the movie. I don't know if the story holds as much value without having seen the movie, however.
The ending kind of came up and slapped me in the face, if I'm honest. It felt as though things were naturally concluding in many ways, and I was looking forward to a couple more loose ends being tied, but then it ended and I was admittedly a little shocked. I wish there was even just 10 or 20 more pages to conclude the other little details in a more satisfying way.
Ultimately, this was highly enjoyable for me as a Tangled fan, and I think it's worth a read for anyone that also loves the movie and Christina Lauren's writing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Hyperion Avenue, for the advanced reader copy. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love a lot of Christina Lauren books, and I LOVED the movie Tangled, so I wanted to love this book with all my heart! While it didn't quite live up to my admittedly sky-high expectations, it was an enjoyable read and a cute book!

A modern retelling of Tangled. This is fun, sweet, and is a great break from the Disney story.

I just think Christina Lauren could write a phone book and I’d opt to read it. Everything she writes is pure gold and this was no different.

A cute tangled telling. I loved the characters from this book they were so cute. This is a cute, clean romance with no smut.

Love Christina Lauren (they were one of my first "auto-buy" authors) and I really do enjoy seeing how they've grown and changed over the last few years in regards to their writing! I am very excited as they foray into new genres (such as here, with magical realism/fantasy) and definitely had a great time reading this! This is CLo at their creative best - while definitely a bit formulaic, this retelling of Rapunzel (and, by extension, the Disney film Tangled) is still a very fun and quick read, filled with charm, magic, and engaging characters with real motivations. I definitely would recommend this book as a top contender for this summer's relaxing beach reads!

A fun take on the movie Tangled. The similar scenes had me laughing and loving how it all played out. Even knowing the story, I didn't quite know how they would bring everything together. Tangled up in you was a book I can pick up and read over and over.

Christina Lauren does it again! Extremely loveable characters with a great storyline! Ren is endearing and you root for her the entire novel. It was a quick easy read with an intriguing storyline.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!

They did a fantastic job, in my opinion, with this tale. However, the plots of Tangled and this one are similar. Even so, they did a fantastic job of adding their touches. I would admit that I occasionally got a little bored in the middle. Maybe it's just me because I've read a lot of thrillers before. All in all, I loved the book, especially the first third of it. incredibly adorable and unique from their usual.

Sheltered Ren enters college and crosses paths with golden boy, Fitz. Soon enough, Ren needs a way out of town and Fitz offers her that escape. On a cross-country journey, Ren shares about her unconventional upbringing with two extremely overprotective parents while Fitz tries to evade sharing his own personal details.
Although a reimagined telling of Disney's Tangled, there was just very little to like in this story. It was fantastical, sure, but borderline insultingly unbelievable. Neither character was particularly charming, and the wrap up came far too fast and easy. I normally enjoy Christina Lauren books, but this was a flop for me.
Overall: 2 stars (It was fine; won't reread it)
I'll tell my students about: kidnapping, mental abuse, language
**Thank you to Hyperion Avenue for the free ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.**

A romantic retelling of Tangled by two of my favorite authors?! Sign me up! Absolutely loved it and I couldn’t put it down! If you love laugh out loud romance stories this one’s for you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
What a dreamy book! If this book doesn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what will. I flew through this book and it made me feel allllllll the feels.
Ren, 23, has been living in mostly seclusion on a homestead with her parents. She convinces them to let her go to college, while still following her “rules” and coming home every weekend to do her chores.
In one of her classes she makes a shocking discovery and blackmails Fitz, a fellow student she caught cheating, to drive her to Georgia on spring break. While on her road trip, her and Fitz get to know each other and learn valuable lessons.
Christina Lauren does it again with another feel good book! An auto buy author for me, they never disappoint. You will fall in love with Ren and this book! It has some of my favorite tropes, grumpy / sunshine and forced proximity. This one is not really spicy for Christina, Lauren, but it’s still amazing and didn’t need spice at all. Definitely a must read! I loved this book so so much!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The biggest problem that I have with this series is that the books aren't long enough! Tangled Up in You took all of the best parts of Rapunzel and modernized it. Ren starting college at 22 after a severely secluded and protected up-brining has her cross paths with Fitz, a handsome and charming college senior with a past. The opposites attract, a somewhat forced cross country road trip - including a stop at the Screaming Eagle (a stand in for the Snuggly Duckling perhaps?) - causes our two heroes to fall in love! It's everything my disney loving heart could want and more.

I wanna start by saying I'm a huge Christina Lauren fan, and had high expectations going into this book. That being said, it let me down a bit. I loved the nods to Tangled, like the endless chattering/juvenile attitude of Ren, but honestly it was pretty boring. It lacked the quip/banter I'm used to from CL and just felt as if they wrote it due to a contract not due to vision yano? It read a lot like YA, if not middle school, book which maybe it was, but for me it wouldn't make the top 5 of their books, prob not even top 10. It reads super fast however, and can be finished in an afternoon, which was nice.
