This was unexpectedly and pleasantly a lot more intense than I thought it would be. Going off of the cover, I was expecting more of a sweet romance about a girl spreading her wings and maybe fumbling along a bit and a guy who needed some direction. I got that and then some! This book weaves a kind of mysterious web throughout the sweetness that I can't go into without giving up the entire ending. Let's just say that there's a twist that I didn't see coming until part way through.
Ren is a great character because she's naive in some ways and incredibly independent in other ways. The way she was raised and her distant yet close relationship to her parents has made her learn things about the world that most of never do. Meanwhile, we learn the social norms and things where she didn't. She was sweet and yet so ferocious at the same time. I loved her!
Fitz broke my heart a little bit. He was so lost and alone, but on the outside appeared not to be. I loved the way he gave into Ren bit by bit and how supportive he became of their journey. When they first go together I had legit butterflies. It was just that sweet.
Overall, I loved this book and I will definitely be reading it again. If you've loved other Christina Lauren books, you will absolutely love this one, too!

I'm a reader who likes Spicy with a capital S. And generally, I know that I'm going to get that (or close to it) with Christina Lauren. Not so here—and in this instance, I actually really appreciated it. Ren and Fitz (no spoilers) had a sweet, sweet, beautiful dance that took them from enemies to lovers (sort of and sort of). No, their relationship is never consummated, but frankly, it was perfect. I loved the path of discovery that this novel took. Again, it's not *my* norm, but I could absolutely appreciate it for what it was.

I adored this book! Christina Lauren never really misses, but I wasn't sure how they would play this one. Turns out it was the perfect blend of modern and fairytale, and even handled the "what happens after" with such grace. I wasn't prepared to be crying about this reunited family, yet there I was. I really hope they do more of these; this was such a wonderful experience!

I love The Meant to Be series. This book was amazing and had me hooked. Ren has lived on a homestead her whole life and has never been to school. She teaches herself to learn and to read. She applies to school and gets accepted because her test scores are really high. She is so new to society and when she moves into the dorm, she is surprised.
She meets Fitz and he shows her around. In a shared class, she is asked to do a DNA test and the story takes off. She soon learns that her dad is not her dad. She goes on a road trip with Fitz and he shows her things that she doesn't know. They make stops so that she can experience things that she has missed out on. She begins to have feelings for Fitz. I loved how different this telling is from the original story.
This book is filled with adventure and is one of the best retellings that I have read. The ending was amazing and I will be recommending that we buy this for my library. I will also be adding it to my personal collection at home.
Thank you NetGalley and Disney Publishing Group for allowing me to receive this as an arc.

The dynamic duo Christina Lauren returns with Tangled Up In You, a contemporary fairy tale published by Disney's Hyperion Avenue. Tangled Up In You is the modernized retelling of Tangled. I will absolutely read anything written by Christina Lauren, so I was incredibly excited to get this ARC. As always with this team, the crackling chemistry and character banter leapt off of the page. I found the adventure aspect to be intriguing, and found some parts to be really suspenseful. What really impressed me about this book was the fresh take on a stale tale. I mean, who doesn't love Rapunzel? However, we have all been there and done that with the story. The plot of this novel didn't feel tired or contrived. It somehow maintained the magic of the fairy tale while refreshing the whole premise. Lesser authors may not have been up to the task, but, as usual, Christina Lauren knocked it out of the park. Thank you, NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue, for early access to this whimsical romp.

This book had a lot going on. It is apparently a take off of the Disney movie Tangled but with Christina Lauren’s own twist. While I think this is categorized a rom-com there is a definite thriller/suspense element to this as well.
Ren grew up in rural Idaho on a farm where she was also home schooled. She is allowed to attend university but under strict conditions laid out by her parents. She meets Fitz and is instantly enchanted by him. When Ren learns some disturbing news about her family DNA during an Immunology course, she sets off to find out what this information could mean. It requires her to go to Atlanta. A city she has never been to before. Fitz offers to give her a lift part way across the country. Along the way, they learn a lot more about each other and their own life goals. Ren soon finds herself in dire straits. Will Fitz be able to rescue her in time?
I had to suspend belief a few times while reading this book, but it was enjoyable nonetheless . It kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen to Ren. I do really enjoy Christina Lauren’s books. Thanks to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I LOVED this book! The Meant to Be series are so much fun. I especially loved this remake of Rapunzel by Christina Lauren because it was a touching and emotional story—it brought me to tears. I definitely recommend this book if you love to read and love Disney. Thank you so much Hyperion Avenue Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Another home-run from Christina Lauren. Tangled up takes the reader on a slow burn kinda adventure of the two main characters learning about themselves and the world around them. Ren shows up to a college campus never setting forth in a public school setting with the love of learning. She learns something questioning her life and invites herself to tag a long on a cross country trip with Fitz. Along the ride, the characters learn how to jive with each other and leads to self discovery. I enjoyed reading this book!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this! I really liked how this had a Tangled twist. It wasn't my favorite Christina Lauren novel, but it is definitely fun and great for fans of Disney!

Loved reading the engaging and captivating romance story. When Ren's parents finally agree to let Ren go away to college, Ren discovers through a DNA test that she has someone related to her, and she gets Fitz to agree to take her with him on his road trip. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story by the amazing author, Christina Lauren!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Not going to lie, it wasn’t too bad, but it also wasn’t the adaptation I thought it would be?

I freaking love the duo that is Christina Lauren! I didn’t realize this book was part of a series, but it didn’t really matter as these books can be read as stand alones. I loved this modern adaptation of the Disney movie/story tangled!

Great book!! I truly love anything Christina Lauren writes! This book was a refreshing change. Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!

As serious as a sleep attack, this book enchanted the pants off of me.
This book is the essence of Disney's Tangled, but with the Christina Lauren twist. As a Disney loving adult and Tangled being one of my favorite movies, I had a lot of expiations going into this book and the authors did an amazing job making this story their own.
Ren is a character that you cannot help but fall in love with. Though she lacks some “street smarts”, she is well versed with random factoids and a charming personality that could win over the coldest of hearts. Fitz was the perfect opposite to complement Ren. He oozes charisma and cockiness, but once you peel back the layers lies a man whose heart is as big as his perceived ego.
Their growth through this story is what gave this retelling of Tangled a unique standalone story. Though the authors did a great job adding the original elements to this story, I truly enjoyed their unique voices and classic Christina Lauren elements that set it apart from the original.
This book was everything I enjoyed about Disney's Tangled while also standing on its own. It’s a fast paced read that will grab you by your heart and give you the best kind of butterflies. Thank you to Hyperion Avenue and NetGalley for the ARC

I absolutely ADORE the movie Tangled, and it's my all-time favorite Disney movie, so I was very excited to read this book, and I wasn't disappointed. Christina Lauren has such a way with words, and if you're looking for a cute romance then this is definitely the book for you. Maybe I'm just a cranky old woman, but I do feel like this story leaned more toward the YA audience than the older crowd, like me, and that's probably why I had a difficult time fully investing myself in the main characters, Ren and Fitz. Overall, though, I would still recommend it, and as always, I'll be anxiously awaiting the author's next book!

I’ve always been yay or nay when it comes to Christina Lauren, so consider that when you read this. It was cute. I won’t say I don’t enjoy it, but it wasn’t my favorite of theirs. It would be considered something to read in a day, and if you are just looking for a fun good time.

I honestly didn’t know where this story was going when I first started reading this. I thought this was going to be a romcom, but it turned into a semi romcom suspense read. The first 40% was quite slow, and by the 70% range it got better.
I guess I should have watched the Disney movie Tangled to understand the premise of the book, but it was cute nonetheless.
Thank you NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for my advanced reader copy.

Tangled Up in You was a cute and quick read. I enjoyed that it was a modern retelling of Rapunzel (or Tangled, for Disney fans) geared for adults. Quite honestly, I felt like the main character, Ren, was pulled directly from Disney’s Enchanted. She was delightfully naive, exhaustingly optimistic and truly adorable. However, the relationship between Ren and Fitz felt unsatisfying to me, and the last third of the book felt a bit rushed…like the authors were trying to tie up too many loose ends in too short a time. I would have enjoyed having the ending fleshed out a bit more so it didn’t feel so slapdash to me.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love everything Christina Lauren write and this was no exception! I totally forgot that this was supposed to be a Tangled retelling so rereading that part after I finished just made it all the more special. I loved the development of Ren and Edward both as individuals and together. I enjoyed the Dual POV in this book too.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
4.5; So...I feel a bit silly saying that I didn’t realize this was a re-telling of Tangled until I started to review it, but I didn’t, and it might not have mattered anyway, because I haven’t seen Tangled.
