I was looking through my unread Kindle books and realised I had not read this one. What a lovely surprise! Lisa Regan never disappoints, and this was well written with a cast of well excellent characters and a plot with lots of twists and turns.
I would thoroughly recommend and a 5 star rating from me.

Slowly catching up with this series but this one was slightly different...Josie was on her own!! It felt very much like a locked room mystery because Josie was locked in the snow up a mountain.

So much to unpack with this one, but Mets...Oh, sweet Mets..... that's all I will say.

Noah and Josie have had a falling out - blasphemous indeed! She goes on a retreat but the snow comes down and then the bodies start to come out. Noah is trying to get to Josie, but he has been prevented... it was intense!

This had a different feel to it, Josie being secluded, forced her to look at things differently, and more into herself. This self-reflection is definitely what she needed. I re-read my review for Book 18 and I ended it by saying I hope Josie goes on her retreat, boy do I regret that now!!!

It was completely messed up, and I'm not sure we got all our answers but it was a sad tale, aren't they always? But riveting!

As always Kate Handford knocks it out of the park with her narration of everyone, and she amplifies the fear and tension as we are in a race against time with the elements! Boy did I feel it!

Not my favourite in the series but it was good for Josie to get Josie time and self-reflect and I am intrigued to see how this will change her!
Not a fan of the newbie either, but I do hope he turns that around!!!!!

This one was a nice change up from the usual Josie Quinn adventure!

Josie goes to a retreat for people with trauma and oh boy does some crazy stuff happen! But of course because crazy things seem to follow her along her adventures! This one is more about Josie and her peers at the retreat. Who is telling the truth and who is lying....

This is my book #19 in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. I have loved this series and can’t wait to see what happens next, I highly recommend the read and the series😊

Detective Josie Quinn is just recovering from the devastating loss of a team member when she is called to investigate another case. A woman has gone missing at a local retreat.

Josie will find herself in peril, along with the other retreat members when they are stranded due to inclement weather. Can she find the killer before anyone else falls victim?

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5★s
Face Her Fear is the nineteenth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series by best-selling American author, Lisa Regan. Plagued by insomnia since the death of her close colleague, Finn Mettner, Josie agrees to go on a therapy retreat at a mountain hunting lodge in Sullivan County with psychologist Sandrine Morrow and five strangers. Perhaps it will help her overcome the trauma she has been carrying from her troubled childhood and also cope the grief over the death of her beloved grandmother.

Sandrine aims to provide a safe space for all of them and offer multiple ways in which they might process some of the life trauma they’ve all endured. She engages her clients in a number of therapies, about most of which Josie is rather sceptical: her insomnia hasn’t really improved much. She’s also troubled by the tension that ensued, just prior to leaving, after she told her husband Noah the result of recent medical tests.

But most concerning: it’s December, the lodge is isolated, there’s no wifi and very patchy reception for the cell phone she snuck in, and a snowstorm is threatening to cut them off from civilisation when their supplies of food, wood for the fires, and fuel for the generator are all running low.

And even that might be OK were it not for five other troubled souls processing extreme trauma, whose psychological issues are now perhaps distilled by Sandrine’s techniques and therapies: guided meditation, body scans, rage room sessions, yoga, flashback halting, to name a few. Or perhaps the fact that more than half of those present have not been honest about who or what they are.

Because on day six, with the caretaker off down the mountain to get supplies, one of the attendees is missing, and a search finds her halfway down the mountain, in the snow, dead. Josie can’t help but go into detective mode. She manages to get a few messages out to her Denton colleagues, and learns that Noah is already on his way.

With a blizzard in progress, Noah is determined to bring Josie to safety, but the challenges he faces include more than extreme weather: he’s unaware that there’s been an unexplained death on the mountain, and that the dangerous stalker of one of the women on the retreat is on the loose.

As well as improvising to try to preserve the scene, Josie doesn’t know who can be trusted: has she picked the right person in whom to confide? As she turns it over in her head, speculating and second guessing and theorising, she hears the voice of her late colleague, Finn advising, admonishing and encouraging her.

This instalment certainly provides quite a bit of tension, action, drama and several twists before the final reveal to keep the reader engaged, while the colleague newly installed in Finn Mettner’s desk promises to provide a bit of friction in future instalments. Another Lisa Regan page-turner.

This is book number 19 in the series. Still going strong. This one is so much different from her other books. I love a book set in the snow so I very much connected to it. The setting was what I loved the most.

As always, when i get my hands on the newest Josie Quinn, I immediately dive in. This installment was so different from the previous books in the series! It was atmospheric and so tense! Josie was essentially working alone in this one and it was a powerful read. While I missed the rest of the crew, I enjoyed this installment and bringing the focus back to Josie. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book!

This is another fantastic story about Detective Josie Quinn! This series is one of my favorites, and I couldn’t put this one down. This story follows Josie as she goes on a retreat to help her process all of the grief and trauma she has been through. While she was out in the middle of nowhere with strangers, a storm rolls in and someone dies. To Josie’s trained eye, she knows it wasn’t an accident. Now she has to figure out who did it, while realizing it has to be someone she is stuck amongst.

I cannot wait until the next story! I highly recommend this series if you enjoy detective and “whodunnit” stories.

After 18 books in this series you’d think Ms Regan would run out of plots but once again she out did herself.
This story was less of Noah and more about Josie and her mental health and ability to solve a case.
I was definitely going back and forth throughout the whole book on who was the killer.
I honestly wasn’t sure until the end of the book.
Can’t wait for book 20!
Keep them coming Lisa Regan!

Definitely a "can't put it down" kind of book, and a scarier setting I can't even imagine!

Josie is off to a retreat in the mountains, for people with complex PTSD, and it isn't easy to get there. Once a snowstorm occurs though, Josie and her fellow retreat members discover it is impossible to get off the mountain altogether. Unfortunately, they have a killer in their midst so this ratchets up the tension a couple of thousandfold.

A tense read but Josie's team and husband provide her with a soft place to land.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to receive an advance readers copy of Lisa Regan, Author’s newest Josie Quinn novel, Face Her Fear!

I have been blessed to receive the last 10 books as ARC’s from NetGalley, and I’m so thankful to be one of the first to read and review the book!

If you know me at all, you know that Josie Quinn novels are my favorite, and I usually take my time with them over a couple days to process. This one was different. I think I read the book in under 15 hours, I could not put it down! This time I did not have time to reread the last couple books - I used to reread the entire series before taking on the next novel but with this being #19, it’s just not possible anymore. I do enjoy rereading 1-8 every now and then.

Join Josie on another adventure - this time to a secluded mountain resort for a therapy retreat. She is one of six patients, and each has their own story to tell. One of the patients of the therapy group goes missing, and Josie is immediately thrown back into detective mode. This time, it’s completely different - there is a blizzard, no communication, no help. What will Josie do?

Another great book in the detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. It came out on the 30th of January and I received a copy from Bookouture via Netgalley.

After having experienced some traumatic events Josie heads to a specialist trauma retreat, set in the isolated mountains of Pennsylvania. The other patients there all seem to be hiding dark secrets.
One morning, one of the patients, Meg, disappears. Sometime later her body is found in the snow. Being completely isolated Josie has to think carefully and act carefully to find out what's happening. When another patient goes missing and the food supply runs low, the danger becomes more real. Will she be able to save the rest of the patients and herself?

This was another riveting and exciting read that I finished in no time. The characters come to life from page one and the story itself grabs you immediately and you're drawn into it and you just can't stop reading. A bit of a different story in the Josie Quinn series but this one is at least as exciting as the other stories. Exciting, fast-paced, thrilling - all words that don't describe this novel well enough. The most definite recommendation again!

5/5 ⭐

Josie Quinn is back. This time she's stuck on a mountain retreat and in true Josie Quinn fashion, bodies keep piling up. With no resources available, Josie has to use her detective skills to find the killer before time runs out. This is another gripping story from Lisa Regan. Detective Josie Quinn is always a must-read!

Face Her Fear is Lisa Regan’s 19th book in her Detective Josie Quinn Series. This is another great addition to one of the best series on the shelves today! The other books in this series are police procedural type books but Ms. Regan puts a different twist on this one and makes it more of a locked room mystery. She will keep you on your toes from start to finish and she makes it very hard to put it down. The characters, new and old are well developed and intriguing. The twist and turns are surprising and will keep you up very late at night. I highly recommend this one and all the others in this series.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for this thrilling book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

I don’t read many ‘locked room’ mysteries, but this one definitely gripped me from the very beginning. It was hard to not like most of these characters, which I’ve found unusual in thrillers that I’ve read so far. I spent a lot of the book going back and forth between a couple of scenarios trying to figure out who the killer was; which always makes for a book I can’t put down.
I haven’t read any of the others books in this series, but I’m definitely going to be picking them up.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

Wow! What a thrilling ride that was!

Lisa Regan never disappoints, and this well written compelling read had me reading well past my bed time. It is well paced, with a cast of well drawn characters and a plot that will keep you guessing.

I am already looking forward to book number 20.

Easy 5 star rating from me.

***This is book number 19 in the Detective Josie Quinn series and although it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading the previous books for the back story.

Lisa Regan surprises and delights me yet again and continues to defy expectations, leaving me in awe once more. In a departure from her well-known "missing or murdered girl" trope, she delivers a thrilling locked-room mystery, showcasing her versatility as a storyteller, earning her the title of a word witch.

Through the 18 books, Detective Josie Quinn has experienced plenty of loss and Josie is taking some time to address the losses in her life as well as her childhood trauma. Josie's home town Denton and the area have become quite a dangerous place and it's nice to see a fresh setting. The refreshing shift takes us out of Denton in focus and takes Josie to a hunting Lodge in the mountains used as a trauma retreat. However, once again, a dead body finds Josie, presenting her with another mystery to solve. This time, it's not just about the dynamics between the characters that I love so much. Josie is on her own with a few suspects and must navigate the investigation without Noah and her team by her side.

Joined by a cast of characters, each harboring their haunting scars, the retreat transforms into a gripping crime scene, where secrets are revealed and intensifying the suspense. Lisa Regan intricately weaves together elements of suspense, psychological depth, and atmospheric tension, focusing on the intricate dynamics of the characters, the unexpected twists and turns, and the enthralling journey of unraveling the truth and motives behind their presence at the retreat. The isolated and eerie setting of the retreat added layers of complexity to the unfolding drama. With each startling revelation, the strands of this captivating tale intertwine, holding me spellbound until the climactic and riveting conclusion.
