The Summer Escape is a standalone novel in Jill Shalvis’ Sunrise Cove series. Private investigator Anna Moore is asked by her very pregnant with triplets sister Wendy to find out about a coin found in their late father’s belongings. In doing so, attention is called to them by the original owner of the coin series. The coins, along with a priceless ruby necklace, were stolen from Owen Harris’s great aunt Ruby about ten years ago.

Unbeknownst to Anna and Wendy, their father Louis was a suspect in this heist and he had a record from his earlier days. However, as a widower with two young daughters to raise, Louis had not only given up such endeavors but had created a good business flipping houses and using excess funds for humanitarian purposes. About a year earlier Louis had succumbed to MS and its complications.

Adamant that her father had nothing to do with the heist, Anna is surprised when Owen hires her to find the missing items with the caveat that he will accompany her in the investigation. While butting heads and fighting attraction, Anna and Owen undertake an unusual partnership as they each seek truth.

This was a well plotted story with rich characters, a lovely setting, and a story that brings lonely souls together, albeit in an unusual manner. I did enjoy this story and I do recommend it.

This was such a fun book to read. It was romantic and full of fun humor and banter. I liked how close Anna and her sister Wendy were. Wendy was pregnant with triplets which made the story interesting and funny. I also enjoyed the suspense and how Owen came into Anna's life. They were opposites that definitely had sparks between them but it would never work because he didn't do long term or let women in and Anna always ran away to protect her heart. Add to all of that the mystery and suspense and it made for a fun book to read. I will miss these characters and their sense of humor. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I loved this book. Jill Shalvis, as always, has written engaging, strong characters and a book filled with heart and, in this case, a bit of mystery. Anna and Owen proved to be a great couple and I loved how they reached their “happily ever after.” I love the Lake Tahoe setting, as well. I lost my Kindle early on vacation and had to wait nearly four weeks to have another so that I could finish this book—which I did in about three days. Do yourself a favor and get this book.

4 1/2 Stars rounded up to five.

After discovering a coin in her late father's belongings, Anna sets out on a mission to find the stolen goods and clear her father's name. With the help of the victim's grand-nephew, Owen, she hopes to recover the items but may also find her elusive HEA.

You know what's always a guaranteed good time? A Jill Shalvis book. Her books never disappoint, and once again, I laughed and smiled the whole way through one of her books.

I feel like it's been a while since I read a Shalvis book with some suspense and mystery, but it was a fun change of pace. It was a great way to push Anna and Owen together, and a little danger always forces those love-adverse characters to make those big declarations I desire.

I wholeheartedly adored this couple, too! They seemed like total opposites, but they fit so well together. Anna had traded in her life of spontaneous decisions and risk taking after being hurt by yet another "bad boy" who left her. And who should get the butterflies going? An adventure seeking dare devil who eschews attachments. Yes, they seem like they should run from each other, but when they were together, they felt safe. Both of these wonderfully wounded characters wiggled their way into my heart making it easy to root for them on their way to the HEA.

There was another relationship that stole that spotlight, and that was the one between Anna and her sister Wendy. They had an interesting dynamic as Wendy was the mother figure in Anna's life growing up. They shared a strong bond, and the love flowed freely between the two. I adored all their scenes which were full of snark and humor and the type of affection expected between siblings.

This was another great visit to Sunrise Cove which was made even better with beautiful scenery, fun furry friends, a swoony romance, a little mystery, and lots of humor and warmth.

Another great story in the series that can be read as a standalone book. The characters meet after a rare coin is found in her deceased father's belongings. Anna is featured in an article and Owen recognizes the coin from his great aunts collection and hires Anna to find out who stole it or how it disappeared . As strangers, she and Owen agree to share information to determine the history of the coin from a collection along with a ruby necklace.

As they work together and meet some unsavory characters, Owen becomes protective of Anna and they grow closer. Finding the answer to how the coin came to be in her fathers possession, will test their growing relationship.

A little bit of mystery, suspense, danger and romance make for a captivating story you're going to want to read.

Although I received a free ARC ebook from Net Galley and the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are my own!

The Summer Escape is the 6th book in the Sunrise Cove series by Jill Shalvis, though this can definitely be read as a standalone. This is a sweet, summer romance between Anna and Owen, with a side of mystery.

The two team up to uncover the mystery of the missing necklace and coin, a keepsake Owen’s grandmother lost and Anna’s late father is purported to have stolen. The two, though being on opposing sides, form a reluctant friendship as they work to unravel this mystery. Emotions are running high as disconcerting issues are raised about Anna’s beloved father. We also witness the tender bond between Owen and his aunt who raised him, who is losing the battle against her memory issues. Despite all odds, including personal pain from the past and resolutions to stay single, this working relationship between Anna and Owen eventually becomes something deeper and more lasting.

We also get to know Wendy, Anna’s older sister who is supremely pregnant with triplets. She is a bit bossy, having had a major hand in raising her little sister, but she’s also funny and has a good-heart. I appreciated her growth arc because at first I found her quite controlling and really didn’t care for her very much. But the bond and obvious love between the two sisters became evident and was nothing short of inspiring, and a charming addition to the story.

I did find the climatic argument towards the end of the story to be petty and overly dramatic, and I wasn’t a fan of the gentle, but very present men-ridiculing and demeaning that was weaved throughout the narrative. Though a bit steamier than I prefer, and rather predictable, The Summer Escape is nonetheless, an enjoyable, feel-good, entertaining story.

The Summer Escape is part mystery, part thriller, part romance, and all fun! I enjoyed the characters, the story and the HEA.

Anna and Owen are different. Different lifestyles, different responsibilities, and different histories with one huge exception. An unsolved and suddenly a pressing mystery has Owen trying to find stolen jewels and Anna defending her father's honor. Anna can't believe the man who raised her could have stolen the jewels but evidence seems to show him to have committed crimes with a partner. All indicators seem to Owen to point to Anna's dad and another man having stolen his great-aunt's jewels. Anna wants to be mad at Owen for suspecting her dad. She also doesn't want to be attracted to an adventurist like Owen. However, their chemistry is so explosive it can't be denied for long.

I loved both Anna and Owen and this story has the perfect mix of conflict, crime-solving and budding love to have me turning page after page. I recommend it.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I have to hand it to Jill Shalvis for making me laugh and enjoy myself while I was reading her upcoming story The Summer Escape. The story is about two people that have to work together in order to find a missing ruby necklace and rare coins that were burgled a decade ago. Anna Moore is an investigator and her father is under suspicion for the crime. Owen Harris wants her to explain how she is in possession of a coin that is his great Aunt’s property. He thinks her father did the crime and now she wants to clear his name. They both concede to keep each other in the loop and try to find the truth, while trying hard to fight the chemistry and attraction they have for one another.

I don’t have to think twice when it comes to a Jill Shalvis book because I know she writes stories that are a good blend of humor, wit, lovable characters and a bit of drama. The main character’s adventure sends them on a hunt, and as the get closer to the truth, things heat up between Anna and Owen. Both are keeping things casual with an end to things when the case is over, but the danger makes them realize that this thing between them could be the real deal. There is an added bonus of Anna’s sister Wendy and her pregnancy with triplets, that is funny, and heartwarming to see how much they care for one another. I loved this story because of the banter between Anna, Owen and Wendy, the tension she creates with their attraction for one another and the mystery of a whodunit. A definite must-read for some summer fun.

The Summer Escape is book six in the Sunrise Cove series and while our heroine is a private investigator, she never expected to be investigating her own family!

Anna, a rule follower by nature, ends up meeting Owen, an adventurer, who comes to her convinced that the coin she is investigating is stolen from his great aunt Ruby and that Anna's father may have played a part in the theft!

Owen and Anna seem like they would be opposites, but in some ways that is why they seem to work together. Anna has a lot on her shoulders with work, helping to take care of her bedridden sister (who is pregnant with triplets!) and who is still dealing with things from her childhood. Will Owen and Anna be able to work together to figure out what happened to his great aunt Ruby's treasure?

There was a lot I enjoyed about the book, but there were also times I thought it drug. I enjoyed the characters and found the dialogue funny, especially Anna's sister Wendy. Overall it was enjoyable.

Jill Shalvis can always be counted on for a good summer read and this book is no exception. Well written, relatable characters and an interesting story make this a winner

Anna and Owen are working together to solve a decade old crime that is personal to each, Owen's great aunt had a coin stolen from her and the coin shows up in Anna's dad possessions after he has passed away. Anna and Owen are also trying to ignore the attraction to one another while working on this case. Anna's sister, Wendy, is pregnant with triplets and on bed rest all while wanting to be part and be "to be taking along" even wanting Anna to wear a go pro camera, phone and earbud while Anna and Owen set out for their adventures.. It's a funny snarky story especially the banter between the sisters that had me laughing out loud. The chemistry between Anna and Owen was so so good too!
Definitely a good and enjoyable read!

I love Shalvis' books. They are funny and light hearted and heart warming and this one is no different. I have never read one of hers that was mystery based however and it made for a fun read. I usually stay away from mysteries (just not my thing) but this one had just enough mystery mixed with the romance to be a lot of fun while still being able to relax and get lost in the story. This is listed as being part of a series but can be read with no problem as a stand alone. I will be happily waiting for more of her books to come.

"The Summer Escape" by Jill Shalvis centers on the discovery of a possibly stolen coin, igniting a battle between Owen and Anna over its rightful ownership. While Shalvis is known for her engaging romances, this novel falls somewhat short of her usual standard.

From the beginning, the book struggled to capture my interest, making it difficult to connect with or invest in the mc's journey.

One bright spot in the story is the subplot involving Anna’s sister, who is pregnant with triplets. The humorous and endearing attempts at naming the babies brought much-needed levity and charm.

Despite the issues with "The Summer Escape," Jill Shalvis remains a beloved author whose previous works I have enjoyed immensely. While this book did not meet my expectations, I look forward to reading more of her future stories.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

"The Summer Escape," the sixth installment of the Sunrise Cove series, works well as a standalone. Jill Shalvis delights her readers with a story that weaves together romance, mystery, suspense, and family drama, all while delving into the 'enemies to lovers' trope. Readers who enjoy this combination are in for a treat.

"The Summer Escape" features Anna Moore, a private investigator, and Owen Harris, an adventurer. The story begins with Anna and her sister Wendy grieving their father's death. Amidst sorting through his belongings, they stumble upon a valuable coin from the nineteenth century. Urged by Wendy, Anna embarks on an investigation that casts doubt on their father's legacy and thrusts her into a world filled with suspense, danger and romance.

Enters Owen Harris who learns of the coin, which so happened to be a part of a collection stolen from his aunt years ago. His aunt suffers from dementia, and he wants to find her lost treasure, hoping it would bring her a measure of comfort. Anna is the key to finding answers and so he hires her on the condition that he partners with her on the investigation.

I found this to be a delightful read. I've loved every book in the Sunrise Cove series, and The Summer Escape is a fantastic addition. Anna and Owen are delightful characters. Their playful banter and intense chemistry were a pleasure to follow. Despite their attempts to fight the attraction, it became increasingly difficult, particularly as they worked together to unravel the mystery.

They faced danger and emotional turmoil throughout their journey. It was gratifying to see how they overcame mutual distrust, which allowed them to work effectively as a team. Additionally, observing them grow closer and conquer their insecurities and fears was truly heartwarming.

Anna's dynamic with her sister added depth to the story. Their exchanges were enjoyable, though Wendy's meddling in Anna's affairs was annoying at various points in the story. "The Summer Escape" provided the perfect escape while ending on a positive note.  I wholeheartedly recommend fans of the author and readers of the genre to add it to their summer reading list.

If you say Jill Shalvis I will say take my money! I have been reading Jill since her Lucky Harbor series. I love everything Jill Shalvis! I had the opportunity to meet her a few years ago and she is just so personable and sweet. I love following her on her social media and all of her snowmaggedon and crazy bear stories. Her new book, The Summer Escape is another 5 star book for me. The chemistry between Anna and Owen is smoking hot, the banter between the sisters is priceless. I can't wait to read her next book!

Thanks to Avon ooks for my copy of The Summer Escape by Jill Shalvis that came out on Tuesday!

While this is book 6 in the Sunrise Cove series, it can be read as a standalone. I enjoy Jill Shalvis books. I love the Lake Tahoe setting in this series and the wonderful characters. I liked the enemies to lovers with a mini mystery that helped push Anna and Owen together.

While this is a romance, I loved the relationship between Anna and her sister. The jokes about what Wendy would name her triplets had me laughing so hard.

You can't get better than this! Anna Moore and Owen Harris on an adventure to prove her dad innocent of stealing a million-dollar necklace. Their chemistry was off the charts and their adventure off the rails! The end of the adventure was epic and kept me guessing! And the best part: they come together for a happy ever after!

Loved the story and the characters. It is full of humor and love. Anna has closed herself off from anything that resembles love. She has been hurt so much in the past. She loves her family, but romance is completely out. Owen has had plenty of relationships, but his heart was never involved in any of them. He is still friends with his exes, but they will all tell you that he is good as a friend, but not as anything deeper. Anna's sister, Wendy, is pregnant with triplets. She says she always wanted children; she just didn't expect to have them all at once. It is hard work growing three humans. When Anna discovers a coin amongst her father's things, Wendy encourages her to see if it is worth something. It is worth a lot, but it is also one of a group of coins that were stolen years before. Owen's aunt had the coins and a necklace stolen from her and Owen believes that Anna's father is the one who stole them. As they investigate, Anna finds that her father wasn't the man she thought he was. She and her sister have to come to terms with his faults and try to forgive him. To love him for the man they knew him to be. Anna and Owen find that they have some deep feelings for each other, but they are both afraid to take the leap into love. Will they find the loot? Will they embrace the love?
