In Susanne O'Leary's The Keeper of the Irish Secret, readers are transported to the windswept shores of Ireland where Lily Fleury's return to her grandmother's ancestral home, Magnolia Manor, sets the stage for a captivating tale of love, family, and mystery. As Lily navigates the restoration of the dilapidated manor and uncovers long-buried secrets, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic Dominic, a local builder with his own ties to the estate. Against the backdrop of Ireland's lush countryside, O'Leary weaves a story of resilience, forgiveness, and the enduring power of family bonds. Through vivid descriptions and authentic characters, the novel immerses readers in a world where past and present collide, leaving them eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Magnolia Manor series.

The Keeper of the Irish Secret was a beautifully written book, set in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Lily, Rose and Violet were complicated, but all of them driven by different wants and needs, unable of how to really communicate what is needed and work together. But before all of that can happen they all need to go down a road to loving themselves and finding love. A heartfelt novel that reminds us of one of lives most important resources - family.

A light weekend read about a family house in Ireland called Magnolia Manor. Lily returns home after quitting her job and recovering from her divorce in London. She expects her grandmother to greet her with open arms but something is going on with their family home Magnolia Manor and her grandmother is keeping tight lipped about it. Lily and her sisters had a plan to bring the Manor back to life and help their grandmother restore the aging home but there is a secret their grandmother is keeping to stop this from happening. There is mystery, romance and family secrets in this Book one of the series and I look forward to future tales of the Manor

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This is the first book in a new series, The Magnolia Manor series. I love this author’s books and have thoroughly enjoyed her other books and series. Her Sandy Cove series is one of my favourites, so I was excited to be granted this book. This book did not disappoint, nit was heartwarming and such a lovely read.

Lilly has had a bad marriage break-up and in an effort to get her life back she has handed in her resignation at work and is returning to her grandmother’s home, Magnolia Manor, hoping that this beautiful and familiar place will recharge her soul. Lilly is surprised at the cool welcome from her grandmother, but hopes to turn her around and talk to her about the plans that Lilly and her sisters would like to start for the Manor. Lilly gets a job and in town and moves forward with her plan of getting her life back together. But little does Lilly know that her grandmother, Sylvia has uncovered a secret that may destroy everything they have worked for and that magnolia Manor may not be theirs for much longer.

This was a lovely read with heartfelt characters and a little intrigue and of course, a second chance at love for Lilly. I look forward to more books in this series.

Mystery, romance and family feature strongly in this new series Magnolia Manor as we follow 3 generations of females. Everything we have come to expect from this author.

The setting was idyllic. A crumbling, grand old house, a resident caretaker who inherited the house and three grand daughters.

One grand daughter turns up unexpectedly and does not get the usual, warm welcome. Her grandmother emphasises several times that the visit is temporary, also forbidding her access to some parts of the house and disappearing mysteriously on errands. Her behaviour is unusual and worrying and the girls try and finally discover the reason why she is upset.

The story winds on with a hunt on for clues and evidence that will help all of them to secure their inheritance.

A nice light read.

Beautifully written a lovely book. Loved the setting and Magnolia Manor sounds fascinating. Lovely characters, Lily, Dominic, Rose, Violet and their grandmother and Nora , they all are wonderful. Family and relationships are defined thoroughly. A sweet and easy to read, relaxing book. Would love to read next in the series, Rose's story. Highly recommended. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

The Keeper of the Irish Secret by Susanne O’Leary is the promising start to a new series in which Sylvia Fleury was keeping a secret from her granddaughters. The manor might not be theirs. Their great grandfather might have lost it gambling nearly a century earlier. She was spending a lot of time looking for the deeds, as the family lawyer did not seem to have them and registration of deeds was relatively new.. Lily, her eldest granddaughter had arrived, apparently with a plan to stay, which made Sylvia nervous. Lily had a plan, too, to renovate the old manor and stay permanently. While there, Lily met a man, although she was in no way ready for one, Dominic. Dominic was the handyman. He was also a musician with a wonderful voice, she discovered one night in the pub. She also met Brian there, the barman whose grandmother had worked for her great-grandmother at the manor. This evening was to lead to many things, she discovered later.

Lily as divorced and had fled Dublin. She accepted a job in a one-lawyer office with Wolfgang Quinn, his mother had been German. He was the nicest man she had ever met, if the most disorganized. It took her several weeks to get the office organized and in shape. And he was still the nicest man she’d ever met. Dominic turned out to be more than a handyman. And Sylvia had plans for the manor, too. They were to host a community tea; it had been a ball in the past but they could no longer afford that, and Lily and her sisters were all in, making it the best it had ever been. But, potential trouble was on the horizon and Lily was worried. She was clever, as well as intelligent, but this was turning out to be too much. Then, on a dime, things changed. They discovered several, well, many things that could change the future. Susanne O’Leary has a knack for writing both light romance and light mystery. This is no exception, from the endearing characters, to the charming setting, this book had it all! Thanks!

Susanne O'Leary's "The Keeper of the Irish Secret" is a heartwarming and enchanting tale that sweeps readers away to the stunning Irish coast, where a mysterious old house becomes the backdrop for an unforgettable romance and a journey of self-discovery.

Lily Fleury, grappling with a broken heart, returns to her grandmother Sylvia's home, Magnolia Manor, seeking solace and healing. However, she is met with a house in disrepair and gardens overgrown, revealing Sylvia's silent struggles. Determined to restore both the house and Sylvia's spirits, Lily enlists the help of the local builder, Dominic. As they clash over the estate's renovation, a spark of passion ignites, setting the stage for a captivating romance.

O'Leary masterfully weaves a tale of family secrets, love, and the healing power of home. The lush Irish setting comes alive through vivid descriptions, and the characters, particularly Lily and Dominic, are brought to life with depth and authenticity. The author's storytelling prowess shines through, creating a narrative that is both uplifting and inspiring. I can't wait to read more books by Susanne O'Leary!

The Keeper of the Irish Secret is the first book in a new series - the Magnolia Manor series - and looks set to be just as much fun as Susanne’s previous books. Magnolia Manor, in Dingle, County Kerry, has been in the Fleury family for generations but has fallen into disrepair. The three granddaughters, Lily, Rose and Violet, have grand plans for the large Georgian house, but first, they need to persuade their grandmother that it’s a good idea!

I loved all the characters in Susanne’s new book. From the outset, both Lily and Dominic had a place in my heart and I was rooting for them the whole way through. In particular, I really want to go and live in Dominic’s house on the beach with its great view of the Atlantic Ocean! I enjoyed the quirky, eccentricity of Wolfie’s character and I think he’d be such a fun man to work for!

I love reading books set in Ireland and as I’m reading them; I try to do the accent in my head! I’m looking forward to the next book in the Magnolia Manor series, which will tell Rose’s story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review The Keeper of the Irish Secret by Susanne O’Leary.

Review for 'The Keeper Of The Irish Secret' by Susanne O'Leary.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Susanne O'Leary, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 25th January 2024

This is the sixth book I have read by this author. It is also the first book in the 'Magnolia Manor' series. I have previously read 'The Lost Girls Of Ireland' which is the first book in the 'Starlight Cottages' series and seventh in the 'Sandy Cove' series, 'The Lost Secret Of Ireland' which is the second book in the 'Starlight Cottages' series and eighth book in the 'Sandy Cove' series, 'The Lost Promise Of Ireland' which is the ninth book in the 'Sandy Cove' series and the third book in the 'Starlight Cottages' series, 'The Lost House Of Ireland' which is the fourth book in the 'Starlight Cottages' and 'The Lost Letters Of Ireland' series which is the fifth book in the 'Starlight Cottages' series. All of these books can also be read as a standalone and I highly recommend each and every one of them!
This novel consists of 28 chapters and an epilogue The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

OMG! OMG!! I cannot remember the last time I was so gutted to come to the end of a book!! Well done Susanne you have done it yet again!!!! I absolutely fell in love and it genuinely felt like I was packing my bags and being whisked away from my Irish holiday when I read the last page. Absolutely gorgeous!!!

The book is so well written with its stunning and vivid descriptions that I genuinely felt that I was standing with Edwina throughout feeling the Irish breeze in my hair and smelling the ocean. The synopsis and cover suited the storyline perfectly.

I absolutely LOVED Susanne's 'Sandy Cove' and 'Starlight Series' so when I realised this was a brand new series with brand new characters I was not sure what I was feeling. I was sad as I realised I wouldn't meeting some of my old favourites again, concerned that with the last series being SO amazing that there was no way Suzanne could create a series that was just as good and at the same time excited to travel to a new area in Ireland and meet new characters. Well, ladies and gentleman I am absolutely shocked to admit (and this does NOT go back to my partner or I WONT hear the end of it!!) that I was w r o n g!!!!!! How on Earth I could doubt Susanne's amazing talented ability to ensure I fall in love with another area, more characters and another one of her STUINNING series I have no idea because YES SUSANNE A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS yet again you have blown it out of the water and YET AGAIN have left me needing more of Magnolia Manor, the Fleury family (and others) and the Dingle Peninsula!!!! Another absolutely stunning MUST READ feel good, heart warming and epic escapism that will sweep you off your feet and land you in the beautiful Ireland. I haven't been to Ireland for many years but reading this took me back there in a blink of an eye and I was devastated when I came to the end, unpacked my "suitcase" and returned to rainy Wales!!! If you ever need a sofa holiday then Susanne really is the go to author. Regardless which of her stunning books you pick up you will be left wanting more each time and enjoying a gorgeous break away. The storyline was filled with romance, stunning settings, love, secrets, friendship, strong women and family. It made me feel all bubbly inside and it had an air of mystery trying to work out what it was that a few characters were hiding or up to. There was plenty of laughter, hope, love, drama, and some tension and sadness mixed in. As always with Susanne's stunning books once I picked it up and read a sentence I was completely addicted and could not put it down, absolutely devouring it in one sitting so make sure you clear those diaries before you even peek into this stunner!! This book has absolutely everything you want in an Irish getaway. I loved the ending which is absolutely perfect and gives me yet another series to look forward to getting stuck into 🥂!!
I always love it when I see a new book by Susanne as she is one of those authors who writes stunning books I know I am going to love!!! Clear your schedules before peeking at this stunning book and getting sucked into a beautiful, page turning story that will whisk you off on holiday in the stunning Dingle Peninsula!!

I am not going to go into too much details about the characters as I am actually trying to cut down the lengths of my reviews as I am aware that I tend to write alot and it may bore some reader's of my reviews. What i will say as that yet again Susanne has created an absolutely amazing and unique group of realistic, strong and relatable characters that, very quickly, felt like they were friends rather than fictional characters and I cannot wait to meet them all again!! They all had their own unique personalities. I wasn't only completely invested in the 4 strong Fleury women (and I LOVED the fact that there were such strong and amazing female leads) but I also fell in love with several of the other characters including Dominic, Nora and Martin and I cant forget the gorgeous dogs Vicky, Bunty, Princess and Larry. I am a MASSIVE animal lover so it is always a bonus when books include animals and these four sweethearts play big parts and I cannot wait to meet them all again along with all the fantastic human characters. The only character that did annoy me a bit was Violet with her attitude at the end. I found her to be a bit of a selfish brat in regards to how plans were going and her not being happy she wouldn't get her own way but I wont say any more about that. In fact, i will leave my review here as it seems that I have managed to write the same as always, so much for cutting down! Oh well, maybe next time!!! I will end by saying I cannot wait to return to this amazing series with these fantastic characters again!!

Susanne I fell in love with yet another of your heart warming, page turning and stunning books which took my heart away and left me gutted when my holiday ended. This is exactly why your on my favourite author list!! I have already added all your books on my wish lists and I cannot wait for my next Irish adventure!!! Please get these put on the big screen!! Here is to your next gorgeous success 🥂
Overall an absolutely stunning, heart warming romance that will have you heading off to Ireland in the blink of an eye.

In this fascinating fictional mystery novel, readers follow Lily O’Fleury, her two younger sisters, and their grandmother Sylvia as they try to decide what to do about the family house, Magnolia Manor. However, Sylvia is keeping a few secrets from her granddaughters, so Lily, relocating to the nearby town, takes the lead on the granddaughters’ investigation. Juggling a new job and more of her grandmother’s secrets, Lily keeps running into mysterious local builder and estate handyman Dominic, who seems to know more than he lets on. As things evolve, Lily, Sylvia, Dominic, and her sisters work to save Magnolia Manor and preserve the family history in this fun, exciting, and surprisingly high-stakes novel. O’Leary really brings the Irish charm to this book through her beautiful descriptions of the estate, the local town, and other locales that Lily and the other characters visit. As for her characters, they all have distinct personalities and complex backstories and relationships, and O’Leary does an excellent job of establishing past relationships between characters (particularly between Lily, her sisters, and Sylvia) before they enter the novel. The first book in a series, O’Leary has created a fascinating world full of Irish charm, beautiful locations, complex and dynamic characters, and realistic relationships.

When Lily returns to Magnolia Manor to soothe her broken heart and disenchantment with her life in Dublin, it soon becomes apparent that the Manor and her grandmother need her as much as she needs them.
At times predictable this is a grand gentle with characters that I'll be thinking about for some time to come.
A new author for me, and I am excited for the next chapter in the Magnolia series.

The Keeper of the Irish Secret is a captivating new novel by Susanne O'Leary

Lily reminisces about her childhood visits to Magnolia Manor with her sisters to see her grandmother. After a painful divorce and quitting her fast-paced job in Dublin, she returns to Kerry to spend more time with her gran. Once there, she discovers that her beloved grandmother is not quite herself and that the family home needs some much-needed TLC. Can Lily and her sisters find a way to repair both their grandmother and their ancestral house?

While reading this novel, I couldn't help but think that it had the potential to become a series. My excitement knew no bounds when I learned that it is, in fact, the first book of a new series called Magnolia Manor! The narrative is captivating, and the descriptions of the setting are vivid and picturesque. It makes one long to visit Ireland. Don't wait, grab your copy now!

The Keeper of the Irish Secret is the first book in Suzanne O’Leary’s Magnolia Manor series. Octogenarian Sylvia Fleury dwells alone in the family estate, Magnolia Manor, on the Dingle peninsula in Ireland. Having lost both her husband Liam and her son Fred when a tragic sailing accident occurred, Sylvia now lives a solitary, albeit active, life. She belongs to many groups, is active in her parish, and has the company of Nora and Martin, who assist her at the Manor. Sylvia’s three granddaughters, Lily, Rose, and Violet, have united to plan for the future of the manor, their relationship with Sylvia, and their time together as a family. This book focuses on eldest sister Lily.

Lily, a paralegal from Dublin, has moved to Dingle to be close to her beloved grandmother as well as to put a painful and difficult divorce behind her. Gaining a position at Wolfgang Quinn’s legal firm opens the door for Lily’s transformation which is the beginning of deciphering the issues with the manor, her grandmother’s fears, and the question of what her great grandfather may have done.

This is a lovely beginning to a new Irish series highlighting three sisters, their relationship with their grandmother, and what the women have in mind to save their legacy. I very much enjoyed this novel and do recommend it!

If you like easy read novels, with a bit of romance and old rambling houses I think you will enjoy this. I believe this is the first part of a series and there was a good base in this book setting up characters for future novels. The inital setup was great with the drama on the house clearly signaled by both the grandmother and the granddaughter.

At times, the story was a bit clunky - eg the working relationship with Lily's new boss went from zero to hero in a matter of days, but just go with it and it helps you fill out the characters.

Be careful though, you will want to go cycling in Kerry after you've read it.

Happy to be part of the book tour with thanks to @bookouture
