Firstly thank you Netgalley for providing this copy 😭 I love the plot although wasn’t expecting a love triangle but I am thankful I didn’t get the second male lead syndrome 😭 The art on the other hand is soo pretty 😭🤌🏻 The characters looked ethereal overall loved it need to read volume 2 now was left with a cliffhanger 😭

This was ok! I expected more to be fair, and while I liked the main characters on their own well enough, their relationship lacked the slow burn build Id be craving so badly.

The side characters also could of been developed more in sense of a personality arc

Overall not bad at all, however it just wasn't for me!

Yuuki, a 20 year old college sophomore explores relationships, old connections, and interactions with an interesting potential love interest 👀 (he also happens to be in dental school??) This book screams 20 something trying to figure out life and love and I’m here for it! I smell a love triangle 🥴😂 but I’m excited to see how things unfold!

Thanks Netgalley for my arc!

Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This has been one of my most anticipated manga releases of the year, and this first volume did not disappoint! It was a very solid first volume. I'm loving that the characters are older and in college, as opposed to the usual high school setting. The art is amazing and it really elevates the story for me. I'm looking forward to volume 2!

Yuuki Honda is a 20-year-old girl and there's one thing she needs to find urgently: her soulmate.

After moving to Tokyo and spending the previous year studying a lot, Yuuki and her friend decided to put themselves out there a little more, starting with going to clubs.

But while her friend seems to fit well and quickly into their new lifestyle, Yuuki keeps on being shy and quiet. The relationship rhythm at the clubs is chaotic and sometimes very loud, so she starts to think if that is really how she's going to find her soulmate.

That's when Yuuki meets Iori, a drunk guy with bleached hair and a scary demeanor. Even embarrassed, she looks after him until he's feeling better and then she goes home.

Feeling grateful, Iori offers to show his gratitude in some way, so Yuuki asks him to help find her soulmate. Iori seems surprised but agrees.

The thing is, when sober, he is much more polite and charming than she would've imagined and Yuuki starts to grow closer to him.

Things get complicated when her childhood crush comes back into her life, Yuuki starts to feel divided: after all, who is her soulmate?

O M G, I loved this manga so much and I had no idea that I would. The art is so beautiful and the story is so soft and well-developed that I'm starting to think my love isn't a person, it is a manga!!

I'm so in love with Yuuki's story and I must admit that I'm shipping her hard with Iori. I don't know, but I think Seno, her childhood crush, seems to have something a little bit off with his excuses and explanations (but I concede that they're cute sometimes).

I'm in desperate need of volume two, ASAP.

"How I Met My Soulmate" is a heart-warming manga with a lot of cute and wholesome moments that will make you want to join Yuuki on this journey of finding the love of her life.

Thanks to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an opportunity to read this!

I love shoujo manga and so I love the FMC’s goal in the story. I feel though that a lot of feelings weren’t drawn out to make Yuuki’s “wish” seem so hard to achieve.

I also think that too many things are happening in the first volume to really digest all the emotions the mangaka wants readers to feel.

Overall it has potential and is possibly something I would have read when I was younger.

I need the second volume now!!! This romance manga was sooo good!! It’s about a 20 year old girl called Yuuki Honda. It’s her second year living alone after moving from the countryside. She’s so nice and she really wants to fall in love, preferably even find a soulmate. Her friend Sanae feels the same way and takes Yuuki clubbing. It’s her first time and they meet a ton of guys but not really the kind normal guy Yuuki thinks she’s looking for but there is this one guy, who was actually pretty wasted, she keeps in touch with afterwards. He looked kinda shady at the club but he turns out to be this mysterious savior type who treats her more like a sister but I couldn’t help but rooting for them to become something more.. But there are other guys, even one from her past, who want to be more than friends with her.. who can we trust?! And how will these connections develop further.. I can’t wait to read more!!

How I Met My Soul Mate was my first time reading a manga and I quite enjoyed myself! The story was cute, and the artwork was beautiful. I am excited to read more in this series and by the author. Thank you to Netgalley, Kodansha Comics and Author Anashin for the ARC.

How I Met My Soul Mate is my new favorite romance manga! Yuuki is looking for love, but despairing of ever finding it when she finally meets Iori. While she is initially intimidated by him, Yuuki and Iori manage to connect again after a bad first impression. Are they destined for friendship or something more?

I loved Iori!! After a negative first impression, he goes out of his way to make things right and get to know Yuuki. Yuuki has a lot of relatable feelings about being in your twenties and feeling like an adult in some ways and not others. Yuuki and Iori have excellent chemistry and they’re definitely the couple that I ship. I was internally shrieking about the potential love triangle and can’t wait to see how it plays out in volume two. Readers who are looking for a sweet and contemporary romance manga should check this out.

Thank you to Anashin, Kodansha Comics, and Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

For publisher: My review will be posted on Instagram, Goodreads, Amazon, Storygraph, and Barnes & Noble etc

I liked the idea behind this manga novel and some of the additional side characters brought some interesting twists to the story but I felt like the constant focus on finding the soulmate overshadowed the main character's life and personality. I first found her to be immature and annoying and this view didn't change because there was never any opportunity for her to grow into something other than an obsession with finding her soulmate college-aged person.

How I Met My Soulmate - Volume 1: An adorable college/YA shoujo manga that lets us follow Yuuki's quest for a soulmate. Encounters with side characters lead to twist and delightful surprises. While the plot is engaging with good background setup I didn't fall in love with the characters as much as I expected to, Her sole focus on finding a soulmate overshadowed her character. However, well-defined male characters and captivating art make it appealing for shoujo manga enthusiasts. The potential for character growth might make the next volume worth exploring. And the art is gorgeous!!

Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for a free copy of this manga to read and review. I read this in December, and forgot to actually get my thoughts down on this for a review.

This was absolutely adorable! I loved everything about it. From the characters, to the art, and to the plot it worked for me every step along the way. I laughed, gasped, and cannot wait to get my hands on volume two. I'm interested in seeing how the characters grow, and what other challenges they face as the series progresses.

This one was incredibly adorable! Yuuki, a college student, is determined to find her soulmate rather than engage in a fling. Her friend suggests that she attend a club to widen her social circle and potentially meet new people. Surprisingly, she encounters someone at the club who may not be as genuine as he initially appears. It's refreshing to see more mature characters incorporated into this type of narrative. Being the first volume, this is exceptionally well-written and boasts a solid foundation. Without a doubt, I will add this manga to my shopping list and eagerly continue to follow its series!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this one. The artwork is really great. The story was fun and easy to follow. It was a pretty quick read. I am really looking forward to vol. 2.

I can't decide who I'd prefer her to end up with. At first, I wanted her to be with Iori, but after hearing Senos' explanation about the bento boxes, I feel bad for him and thought maybe they should see if there is still something between them. I need to know what Yuuki says to Seno!

I actually wish it was longer. I will just have to wait for Vol. 2!

Highly recommend!

3.5/5

Okaaaay so this volume just recently got released here in Italy, so I had to check it out through NetGalley first to see if it was worth the hype and the money.

And I ended up having mixed feelings about this one.
It started off great, the art is very pretty and I got the feeling there was a good rom-com story behind but at some point half way through it I lost interest somehow. I don't know what happened but I couldn't find the whole situation as appealing as the premise or beginning.

I will definitely need more volumes to understand if it's something I want to get invested in or not.
So far, it has my attention but it's not enough.

This was perfect. Everything about this was so good. It's written by the same mangaka as Waiting for Spring, which is also a manga series that I truly loved and binge read. I can see that being the same with this series too, I can't wait to read the next volume. It was the perfect start to a shoujo series, it reminds me of an OG shoujo and maybe that's why I liked it so much. The characters are really interesting and I can see them each having a great arc throughout the series. Definitely one of the best mangas that I read in 2023.

Thanks to #NetGalley for an e-copy of #HowIMetMySoulmate by Anashin to read and review.

Volume 1 of How I Met My Soulmate is pretty much a typical college/YA shoujo manga. Our heroine Yuuki is looking for companionship, but not anyone will do - she wants to find her soulmate. She meets an aloof stranger in a club, but appearances aren't everything. She also unexpectedly comes across her former first crush, but who's being honest and is any of them her soulmate?

As a first volume, it did a good job of establishing the background and plot, and I enjoyed some of the twists. However, it didn't click for me, mainly because Yuuki comes across as one-dimensional and a bit whiny in the beginning, as she isn't happy with her soulmate-less life. Her only interests and personality traits uncovered in this volume are wanting a soulmate, and doing things for people in hopes of finding that soulmate. The guys were a lot better defined as individuals.

Overall, if you're a fan of shoujo manga you might like this. The art is great, the cover is amazing and the plot keeps you invested in what's going to happen next. I might give the next volume a go to see if Yuuki gets more character development.

I absolutely adore this manga. I already have the Japanese version, as I couldn't resist buying it before the English translation was released, but I'm so glad it's now available in English for all to read.
What first drew me to this manga was the beautiful art style. I've always been a fan of Anashin's work, though I have to admit I much prefer this genre over the previous sports romance 'Waiting For Spring.' I'm already sucked into the potential romance for this; the two main characters have such a cute dynamic and I'm so here for it!

I literally cannot wait to read the next volume in English when it's released here. I'll be buying it on day 1 for sure! I'm so glad this series was picked up for global release, the more shojo the better!
