Thank you for the opportunity to preview Dog Day Afternoon. I truly enjoy the Andy Carpenter series. Not only does the author write a great mystery novel but it is filed with humor, great dialogue, but also a solid mystery.
This is a who done it but Andy is on the case. The police believe they have the right suspect in custody. The murders of 6 lawyers in New. Jersey point to a young man who worked there. He’s been identified as the killer but says he didn’t do it.
Andy takes his case and sets out to prove this but there are many twists and turns to keep you guessing
The usual characters join Andy on this case and that includes Tara, Andy’s faithful and amazing dog

The Andy Carpenter mysteries are literary comfort food. I have enjoyed every single one of them and Dog Day Afternoon is no exception.

Each book is standalone and you can start with any book. I started mid-way through the series, read everything that was published and now wait anxiously for new additions. Thankfully they're published on a regular basis.

Had to read this one as soon as it was shared with me! Andy, Laurie, the Bubala Brigade, Sam, Marcus Clark, the K-Team and others work hard to clear a friend of Marcus framed for a multiple murder and uncover a real rat's nest of crooks.
Don't know how he does it, but each book is totally unputdownable.
If you've never tried this series, any of the books can easily be read out of order so just drop in anywhere and have a good read while laughing your sox off! This is NOT an unbiased review! I love the Andy Carpenter and K-Team books! The stories are imaginative, somewhat plausible, totally engaging, and off-set reality despite how close to the news some of them can be.
Andy Carpenter is a wise-mouthed lawyer who can afford to take semi-retirement by only representing innocent clients while co-owning a dedicated rescue shelter for dogs. Add in that his wife is no longer law enforcement but works as his private investigator and more and you have the baseline for these convoluted mysteries. There are many other people who help Andy find out what the truth really is and make it courtroom admissible (The K-Team). The mysteries are always intriguing, and I cackled my way through the whole thing (again)!

Dog Day Afternoon is an intriguing and complex mystery, full of plenty of twists, questions, shady deals, questionable characters, and a few delightful dogs. This fast-paced story, told through the narration of reluctant lawyer Andy Carpenter, is written in a light and entertaining fashion, with his use of snarky comments and sarcasm. He’s surrounded by a delightful team of colleagues, and his mind is always looking beyond the obvious. I very much enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling mystery.

Andy is facing one of his toughest cases. A young man is accused of murdering 6 people in a law office with 2 victims left alive who identify him. As the investigation progresses Andy believes he is innocent but without a way to prove it

“Dog Day Afternoon” by David Rosenfelt is an absolutely delicious mystery that I finished way too quickly. There is not one thing not to love about this book! It’s about a retired wealthy lawyer who is pulled back into service to help a young man from a troubled background accused of a mass murder. The book is filled with wonderful characters, a dog rescue foundation, beloved dogs who all have a voice and suspenseful twists you won’t see coming. David Rosenfelt’s style of writing is always entertaining but this book had me giggling out loud several times. His books never disappoint and this one is a solid 5 stars.

Dog Day Afternoon is David Rosenfelt’s newest book in his Andy Carpenter series. It is another fun, fast-paced mystery for Andy and his team to solve. I love all the characters in Andy’s legal team, his snarky sense of humor, and the way his mind works to solve the crime. And there are always rescue dogs involved so that is a huge bonus in my opinion. I look forward to all of Mr. Rosenfelt’s books and am never disappointed! I highly recommend them!

I love the Andy Carpenter series. Rosenfelt manages to combine the page turning suspense of a thriller with humor in a way that few others manage. I love reading this series when I'm otherwise stressed out because I always need to be reading a good book and this series is complex and relaxing at the same time. Also, while there is character progression throughout this series, you can absolutely read it out of order. Each book is complete unto itself; my favorite kind of series.
And finally, THAT ENDING! That's all I'll say about that. Fantastic book. Fantastic series. Five stars.

Always fun, entertaining and humorous! Dog Day Afternoon is another pleasure to read in the Andy Carpenter series of legal mysteries. Featuring his beloved dogs, the stories have twists and turns to bring the good guys and gals to the best outcome while bringing the criminals to their deserved fate.

The only thing sadder than waiting for a new Andy Carpenter book is reaching the end of an Andy Carpenter book. “Dog Day Afternoon” does not disappoint. This time around, Andy is asked by Marcus Clark to defend Marcus’s friend, Nick, who is accused of committing a heinous mass murder at a local legal firm. Of course, we know from the outset that Nick is innocent and that he is a dog lover, so no surprise there. As with any Andy Carpenter book, the fun is in watching Andy get to the bottom of it all. From the legal offices, to insurance agencies, to hospitals, to Chicago crime lords, it’s all here. All of our old friends are accounted for, most importantly, Tara. I fear the day when Tara becomes too old to keep Andy in line. That will never happen as I’m sure that Tara, like my own dog, has promised to live for at least 20 years. Seriously, as a devout fan of David Rosenfelt’s books, this is a worthy addition. I will even go so far as to say that when the audiobook is released, Grover Gardner and I will have a date. Reading a David Rosenfelt novel is like sitting in an easy chair with your pipe and slippers - comfortable. You know the characters and you know Andy will get roped into another case defending the accused in a murder trial. Against overwhelming odds and with very little to work with, Andy and his crew face multiple obstacles and threats in the course of planning the defense - not to mention the murders of potential witnesses. Of course, dogs play an important role in this story as does the rugelach and babka.
This book is highly recommended to all and I thank NetGalley and Macmillan for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication and eagerly await the next book.

I was already reading one book when this one came out, so naturally I put THAT book aside to dive right into this one. I LOVE this series and this book is a continuation of that love fest! This one is, as usual, an absolute winner!

I always get excited when I see there is a new Andy Carpenter book. This time Marcus needs his help. One of the young men he has been mentoring has been arrested for murder and he wants Andy to take the case. Andy tries to retire but always gets drawn into another case. With the usual cast of characters and dogs they are on the job to solve the crime. I loved this book and this series.

Andy is a retired lawyer…sort of. He keeps getting dragged into trying cases when all he’d rather do is be with his family, dogs, and life of leisure. When enigmatic Marcus comes to Andy for help, Andy knows he has no choice but to take the case. One of Marcus’s young wards has been accused of murder and although he protests his innocence there is video evidence to prove it. Filled with Andy Carpenter’s irreverent humor this is another great addition to the series.
