Woman chokes on a hamburger and dies only to meet her soulmate in heaven. When an error sends him back to Earth, she's given 10 days to find him again and get him to kiss her. Knowing only his first name, she embarks on a journey of self-awareness that she could have never predicted. A sweet, funny romantic comedy that I found hard to put down.

This was enjoyable and entertaining. I liked the story line very much. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this arc.

I did not love this story. I think the main reason is that I never liked the female MC. She was a bit too over the top for me. I have read other books with a female MC who was a real mess, but this was just too much for me. I liked the male MC a lot more, but I couldn't really get his motivation for wanting to be with her. I felt the supernatural element did not add a lot to the story either.
I would still recommend this with reservations to readers of romantic comedy.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

This was just the type of rom-com I was looking for! I love Delphie! While it does cover some heavy topics it tends to balance out with humor and sarcasm from the characters, who they themselves are just as wonderful and loveable on their own. I feel like the lesson we can get from this book is don’t wait around to live your life, no better time than the present!

The Love of My Afterlife is a fun rom-com that will appeal to those who are fans of the genre. There's more to it, though. While the book is entertaining and funny, it also provides a very real opportunity for reflection and consideration of the nature of loneliness and isolation. It does so without being in any way preachy or depressing and that's a refreshing way to look at such topics. While I did tire of seeing a few too many uses of "jeez" and "noooo" in the book, these were minor annoyances and are likely solely on me as my problem and not the author's---perhaps a generational difference?
I will be recommending the book to readers who I know love rom-coms, but also to those who enjoy thought-provoking material. I loved that the book had a Heaven Can Wait feel to it as well as hints of TJ Klune with respect to loving people where they are and for who they are, not because you believe you can change them. I did figure out who Em was probably before the author intended, but that in no way detracted from my enjoyment of the story.

I'm a big fan of any novel with afterlife elements and this one did not disappoint! The protagonist was hilariously awkward to the point that I found myself laughing out loud at several of her attempts at social interaction. She wasn't particularly relatable and it didn't always add up that so many of the characters wanted to be her friend despite her antisocial attitude, but I did appreciate her transformation throughout her journey. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the supporting characters and their zany antics. Although the ending wasn't entirely unpredictable, there was still a plot point or two I didn't see coming. I could absolutely see this being made into a sitcom and I would watch the heck out of it! I intend to read more from this author in the future.

I thought this was a clever premise, I loved the red herring of the man in the afterlife and the idea that life is what happens when you’re doing something else. I thought the afterlife portion was just charming and ironic enough without being too much and too pushy. The one thing that rang a little false was that before the accident the FMC was too alone, too uninvolved, too much of a loser. I get the point and what the author is trying to do, but she went overboard a bit. I wanted a main character who was sheltered and naive but not such a loser.

The Love of My Afterlife is a heartwarming romance. The story starts with Delphie alone in her apartment choking on a hamburger. When she wakes up in the afterlife, she is desperate to return to the living. After striking a deal, Delphie has to find her "soul mate" or she will be returned to the afterlife. Delphie's quest to find Jonah is quite the ride. It takes Delphie way out of her comfort zone. Her past trauma has caused her to close herself off from everyone except her next door neighbor, Mr. Yoon, who she devotedly takes care of. The storyline of the book surprised me. Just when I thought I knew how things were going to turn out, everything changed. Delphie goes through a lot of self discovery and growth throughout the book and I especially like the found family that is created.
I recommend this fun and unique contemporary romance with its fantasy twist to all romance readers.
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Book.s for the advanced reader copy.

This was everything I want from a romcom, plus some light fantasy/magic realism elements that made it unique. Overall the concept of this was super clever and well-executed (it really could have gone SO wrong), the love story was sweet, I maybe (definitely) cried a little bit at the end, and I loved it.

I went into "The Love of My Afterlife" with zero expectations, and so, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was into this one. It gave, like, "The Good Place" (which I loved) vibes meets a second-chance romance with a dash of a love triangle. Author Kirsty Greenwood writes with such compelling language from the beginning to the end, which made "The Love of My Afterlife" pretty unputdownable. Greenwood's language was just, like, beyond witty that I devoured like candy, I swear. It was very cute, very fun and very unique for a romance -- even though I totally called the love triangle results wayyyy in advance but I'm just saying. Still a good read regardless.

27-year Delphie dies after choking on her dinner. She arrives in Evermore and meets Merritt who will help Delphie in the afterlife. A handsome man appears in Evermore and Delphie and Jonah T. have a spark but he is only thought to be dead during a dental procedure and abruptly leaves Evermore. Merritt makes a deal with Delphie that she can return to the living and if she kisses Jonah in 10 days she can remain alive otherwise she will return to Evermore. Delphie is a homebody and her only friend is her neighbor who is old enough to be her grandfather. With only a few days to find Jonah, Delphie is forced to go out in the world and meet people in order to find Jonah. The next 10 days will change her life.

RATING: 4.25/5 STARS
THE LOVE OF MY AFTERLIFE was so enjoyable. It was lighthearted, funny, and whimsical, and I breezed through it. Save this one for a rainy day!

What an absolute treat! This book was so much fun because it had a really cute premise, but the author actually followed through. It was funny, cute, and heartwarming! I really enjoyed this and think it’s going to be a hit this summer with romance readers.

Delphine gets a second chance at love after she dies but is allowed 10 days back on earth in order to kiss her soul mate. However, in trying to find a man she only met for a few minutes, she starts opening up her life, veering away from a shut in routine and making friends. When her grumpy downstairs neighbor turns into something more, she must decide if she should still peruse her soul mate and live again, or enjoy the last of her 10 days with the people that have come to matter to her. I liked the cast of characters and the way each situation seemed to lead to the next. The adventure was a little zany but very fun, and Delphine’s growth entirely believable. The twist at the end made for a satisfying ending without being Too sappy.

I KNEW IT!! I knew merit was Meritt was going to be Em but I still cried anyway.
I loved this book! It was such a sweet, funny, adorable story with such a lovable little ensemble cast.

In the vein of the Dead Romantics... characters who deserve happy endings, death, found families, funny, swoon worthy.... just a wonderful romcom with scifi elements that has you cheering for Delphi the whole time.

ARC review - The love of my afterlife
What a breath of fresh air! I absolutely loved this one! I read it so quickly because it was just such a charming, entertaining & addictive romcom. The story progresses within 10 days, so everything happens very quickly & that kept me interested from start to finish! I was very invested in what was going to happen to Delphie and the people around her. I also love a good touch of magical realism and it was very well done in this one! This book was lighthearted as there were so many funny moments but still had depth to it with some very touching moments. I loved the character development and the twist in the end was also a very fun touch!
Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group and Kirsty Greenwood for a copy of the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It is easily one of my favourite rom-coms now😁
The Love of My Afterlife gives off The Good Place vibes at certain times, and it’s the most entertaining thing ever. This book had me laughing out loud and crying, and I didn’t think a book could do both at the same time😮💨😮💨
Delphie’s growth and character development throughout the book was incredibly heartwarming. She shows us what it’s like to actually live, as opposed to just surviving. The people she met along the way were all so interesting in their own way too. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this book.
As for the romance, omg it was absolutely exquisite😚🤌🏼 It made me so happy and giddy🥰 I could see this being made into a movie🤗
I definitely have to check out Kirsty Greenwood’s other books now🫶🏼
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Berkley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!!

This is a fun, not-too-spicy romance that will have some pretty wide appeal. I didn't love everything about it, but I still had a great time reading through it and enjoyed the characters quite a bit. We will purchase for the collection for sure.
