This book has a great title and premise however, I felt the execution didn't live up to the hype. A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife and has a second chance at life, only if she can get him to kiss her. The author clearly loves romance and I loved her inclusion of romance books and tropes in the text yet I felt this was a very average romance read. With a premise like this, I felt the author had a lot of plot options to play with but kept it very safe. You could take the afterlife aspect out of this book and it would be the exact same story. What is the point? This book has great marketability, I just wish the story lived up to my expectations.

The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood follows the afterlife journey of Delphie, who dies unexpectedly from choking on a microwaveable burger. As she stands in her 'shine like a star' nightie in front of the hottest man she's ever seen, she can't help but feel embarrassed. But as they start to chat, Delphie becomes completely smitten with the stranger, only to have him suddenly taken away from her by a mistake. But when the opportunity arises for Delphie to return to earth and possibly reconnect with the man of her dreams, she jumps at the chance. What follows is a heartwarming and humorous adventure as Delphie navigates the complexities of life and love in a bustling city. The characters in this book are charming and endearing, making it easy for readers to become invested in their stories. Delphie is a relatable and lovable protagonist, with her insecurities and struggles making her all the more relatable. The supporting characters are also well-developed and add depth to the story, especially Delphie's sassy and wise roommate, Pippa.
One of the highlights of this book is the writing style of Kirsty Greenwood. Her witty and clever writing is a joy to read, and she effortlessly weaves together humor, romance, and heartwarming moments. The dialogue between characters is sharp and entertaining, making the book a page-turner from start to finish. The book also touches on important themes such as self-discovery, the power of friendship, and the importance of following your heart. It's a story that will make you laugh, cry, and ultimately leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely highly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good read.

This one was an emotional one y'all. I do cry easy, but this had me in my feels! This story was filled with amazing romance, friendships and a bit of steam! The concept is so unique and fun and I really liked the writing style!! pretty good book!

I loved this book! It was really the perfect mix of romance, quirkiness, friendships, complex relationships, a smidge of steam and impactful emotions. I was rooting for Delphie, got teary-eyed when it came to Mr. Yoon and was dreading any possible thing that would get in the way of her realizing her true love.
I saw a reference to The Good Place in a description of this book and it definitely has some of those elements, so if that interests you at all, I recommend this book. But also if you just like romance books with characters you're actively rooting for, you should read this.

When Delphie chokes on a microwavable burger, and is brought to the Afterlife, she can't believe that this is the end of her life. When she is shown a video of the highlights of her life, and realizes that she never really lived at all, she wants out of the bad dream.
Then, a man walks into the Afterlife...but it was a mistake. Now when he is sent back to the real world, Delphie strikes a deal to go back to find him...she thinks he is her soulmate. Now, with the help of Delphie's neighbor, Cooper, she tries to find this man in real life so she can really live her life.
Kirsty Greenwood take each character, and develops them beautifully, even background characters. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll cheer for Delphie to re-live her life, and find her man.

Cute romance with an off-beat premise. I would have been more interested in it had it stayed in the afterlife, but such as it is this will appeal to romance fans that appreciate a bit of bonkers in their romance. Especially for fans of British rom-coms and romance authors like Josie Silver.

THIS is my new favorite romance! I laughed, I smiled, I felt moved and hopeful. Perfect for fans of Dead Romantics, Britt Marie was Here, A Man Called Ove, All the Lonely People (love those character driven books!!!) and literally any romance ever. This book wraps up all my favorite things into one.
-a 90's romcom vibe
-grumpy characters that need connection
-a little bit of magical realism
-and a heavy emphasis on the amazing-ness that is romance writing
Just put this on your list for the summer. I hope you love it as much as I did. Can I jump into this book? 🫠 I loved the characters and would 100% read Aled and Frida's story next!! Or a prequel with Merritt! Ooh or even a book about how Merritt and Eric kill it in the afterlife dating scene with their amazing ideas! 🤞 That this becomes a series of stand alone books where our favorite characters make cameos. I digress, this book was so much fun to read.
Our grumpy isolated main character Delphie is home alone one night when she chokes on a burger and dies. She wakes up in the afterlife and is met by a quirky woman named Merritt. When handsome Jonah stumbles in, Sophie and Jonah have serious chemistry and Merritt gives her a second chance. The catch is, Jonah won't remember anything about being in the afterlife and Delphie doesn't know anything about him except his first name and that he lives in London. If she wants to stay "not dead" she has to find him and get him to kiss her. Time is limited and she better get started.
Will Delphie find Jonah before it's too late? What if she lets herself truly live?
Thank you to netgalley and Berkeley publishing for an ARC to review.

I am so glad I read this. It was a little slow for me at the beginning but very quickly grasped my attention. I devoured this in about 5 hours lol.

Never eat crappy microwave burgers by yourself, I guess.
This was nice! It was a sweet and heartwarming story on finding the full life you could have always had if you'd only stepped out of your comfort zone a little more. Delphie is a woman with a second chance at building meaningful friendships and relationships, making time for the things she enjoys, taking risks and doing things she wouldn't normally, and finding love. The way all the threads of her life, before and after death, came together was really well-done, and although it was predictable, I mean that in a good and comforting way.
However, for a story so centred on soul mates and romantic firsts, I found the romance itself to be incredibly lacking. There were a lot of missed opportunities to me, especially with how almost all of it is a first for Delphie, and I just couldn't get excited for her or believe the chemistry between the pair.

I loved this book. It is uplifting and heartwarming and I highly recommend it! It was a wonderful escape during a dreary winter. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC.

I recently finished reading The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood, and it was a delightful read. The story follows Delphie, a young woman who dies after choking on a microwaveable burger. However, instead of crossing over to the other side, she finds herself standing in front of the hottest man she has ever seen.
As they start chatting, Delphie realizes there might be a chance for her to return to Earth and reconnect with the mystery man. She jumps at the opportunity to find her soulmate and start fresh.
What I loved about this book was the way the author managed to create a unique and captivating storyline. The idea of returning to earth after death to find your soulmate is not something you come across often, and it was refreshing to see it explored in this book.
The characters were well-developed, and I found myself rooting for Delphie throughout the story. She learns to listen to her heart, ask for help, and appreciate the magic in her life. It's a heartwarming tale of love, self-discovery, and second chances.
Overall, The Love of My Afterlife is a charming and entertaining read that will leave you feeling uplifted and hopeful. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a light-hearted romance novel with a unique twist.

When Delphie chokes on a microwavable burger, she's transported to "Evermore" - the place you go when you die. There she crosses paths with another new "Evermore" recruit who she instantly has a connection with, but upon their meeting - Delphie's Afterlife therapist, Merrit realizes the dreamy stranger is there by mistake and needs to be sent back down to Earth. Delphie, however? That's not a mistake. Delphie is supposed to be there. However, upon making a deal with Merrit, the Afterlife therapist, she is sent back to Earth. The only catch? She has 10 days to get the dreamy stranger she met in the afterlife to kiss her on his own accord. And all Delphie has is his first name, last initial and that he lives somewhere in London.
I was excited by the premise of this book, but I do admit that I wish it would have been a little bit different. I feel as though it could have been more unique or interesting if the story was about Delphie finding love in the afterlife, rather than being immediately sent back down to Earth to find the stranger she met who won't even remember their meeting in the afterlife. I did however, enjoy the setting, especially since the author made Delphie live in the neighborhood I used to live in, which made it more relatable or enjoyable to myself.
While it was a fun story, there was just something missing for me to give it more than 3 stars. I think at most it felt like a very average nice romantic comedy, but it didn't grip my heart in that way that some romantic comedies do. For example, I felt like I couldn't fully care about Delphie as a character or feel my heartbeat for Cooper the way the author intended.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for this ARC. These are my honest opinions.

I fell in love with Kirsty Greenwood after reading Big Sexy Love and now I love her even more!! The Love of My Afterlife is so much more than a romance novel, it's sweet and sexy and funny and quite life affirming!

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing this book, with my honest review below.
The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood was an adorable love story that spun out a unique premise into an exploration about friends, family, and making the most of your life, even if your eyes are sometimes closed to what’s in front of you. Delphie was our main character, who seeks out a man she met in brief stint in the afterlife and who is the key to her escaping her previous fate. Along the way the isolated Delphie builds a community with the people around her, some of who she kept at arms length due to past trauma.
I enjoyed every character, many with quirks that went past a surface level rom com. I also enjoyed that this story knowingly explored every trope it could hit with some funny results. I love when a book delivers on a compelling and unique premise, as the is one did. While some of the twists were a little farcical, it all made sense in the story, and I enjoyed following along.
Recommended for readers of romantic, modern stories, especially those a little sick of the usual tale and who’d like to go past the surface.

Delphie has died in the most embarrassing way, only to find herself in the afterlife with a quirky afterlife therapist and her soulmate. Unfortunately for Delphie, her soulmate turns out to be an unconscious visitor and returns to his life. Delphie strikes up a deal with her therapist that she can return to her life for ten days, but she must find and kiss her soulmate in that time or she will have to return.
This was truly the most adorable and unique rom com! Delphie is a loner but she is funny and likable, and the supporting characters are sure to make you laugh as well. I don’t want to say much in my review as it’s better to go in blind and enjoy the fun ride! This book is full of heart, grief, loneliness, friendship, and laugh out loud moments. There are countless references to romance books and authors, making it feel like a sweet love letter to romance as a genre. There are also many of my favorite tropes- found family, forced proximity, fake dating, enemies to lovers, and a bit of magical realism to make it that much more fun!
Thank you to Kirsty Greenwood, Berkley Romance, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

The cover of this book is what initially caught my eye. I'm a cover snob and awful covers just get passed by me. A note to authors & publishers - gorgeous and/or eye-catching covers are super important.
I was not familiar with the author but I loved the cover, the title and the synopsis so I appreciate the opportunity to provide an early review.
In a nutshell, this story follows Delphie who recently died by choking on a hamburger. We she reaches the afterlife, she first sees the most gorgeous man she's ever seen. When he smiles at her, she instantly falls for him. But apparently dream guy being in the afterlife was a mistake and he's sent back to the real world. With all hope lost of finding love, Delphie is offered the opportunity to return to Earth for 10 days to find her dream guy, connect and fall in love. If she can make that happen, she gets to stay.
To say this was an amazing story is an understatement. I figured I would like it, but I didn't expect to love it. I loved Delphie's quirkiness & charm and her never-give-up attitude of getting her second chance at life. Seeing as how this story started, there is a lot of LOL moments along the way - I absolutely love an author who can deliver on hilarious banter between the MCs. There were also some tearjerkers. The placement of these moments was perfection by Greenwood.
This book was super easy to breeze through in one sitting and is one I would definitely read again. I don't usually re-read many novels. I've just added Greenwood's prior novels to my TBR just because I loved this one so much.
I guarantee this rom-com will be a hit this summer & I cannot wait to share my review on IG and recommend to my friends & followers!

The Love of My Afterlife is a fun, cute read. I loved the whole laundromat lobby and how Delphie's relationships blossomed after her death. It's a great fit for people looking for something light and funny.

The love of my afterlife was one of the most breathtaking books that I have ever read in my entire life. And I do not say that lightly. I cried so hard I couldn’t even see the pages. The emotions were overpowering and all-consuming. It also has the most beautiful ending of all time. Loved it.

I could not put this book down. I read it wanting to know how it ended and I was not disappointed. I can definitely see this being popular amongst my patrons at the library.

This was definitely not a book I'd have chosen for myself, but it was surprisingly a delightful ride with fun characters and low-pressure. The stakes were seemingly high but didn't feel that way (probably bc I am used to such tropes). I loved the meta aspects to the plot and the overall concept even if the actual execution fell a little flat for me.
