Thank you to NetGalley, Kirsty Greenwood and Berkley Publishing for a digital galley of The Love of My Afterlife in exchange for an honest review.
The cover of this book is what initially caught my eye. I'm a cover snob and awful covers just get passed by me. A note to authors & publishers - gorgeous and/or eye-catching covers are super important.
I was not familiar with the author but I loved the cover, the title and the synopsis so I appreciate the opportunity to provide an early review.
In a nutshell, this story follows Delphie who recently died by choking on a hamburger. We she reaches the afterlife, she first sees the most gorgeous man she's ever seen. When he smiles at her, she instantly falls for him. But apparently dream guy being in the afterlife was a mistake and he's sent back to the real world. With all hope lost of finding love, Delphie is offered the opportunity to return to Earth for 10 days to find her dream guy, connect and fall in love. If she can make that happen, she gets to stay.
To say this was an amazing story is an understatement. I figured I would like it, but I didn't expect to love it. I loved Delphie's quirkiness & charm and her never-give-up attitude of getting her second chance at life. Seeing as how this story started, there is a lot of LOL moments along the way - I absolutely love an author who can deliver on hilarious banter between the MCs. There were also some tearjerkers. The placement of these moments was perfection by Greenwood.
This book was super easy to breeze through in one sitting and is one I would definitely read again. I don't usually re-read many novels. I've just added Greenwood's prior novels to my TBR just because I loved this one so much.
I guarantee this rom-com will be a hit this summer & I cannot wait to share my review on IG and recommend to my friends & followers!

The Love of My Afterlife is a fun, cute read. I loved the whole laundromat lobby and how Delphie's relationships blossomed after her death. It's a great fit for people looking for something light and funny.

The love of my afterlife was one of the most breathtaking books that I have ever read in my entire life. And I do not say that lightly. I cried so hard I couldn’t even see the pages. The emotions were overpowering and all-consuming. It also has the most beautiful ending of all time. Loved it.

I could not put this book down. I read it wanting to know how it ended and I was not disappointed. I can definitely see this being popular amongst my patrons at the library.

This was definitely not a book I'd have chosen for myself, but it was surprisingly a delightful ride with fun characters and low-pressure. The stakes were seemingly high but didn't feel that way (probably bc I am used to such tropes). I loved the meta aspects to the plot and the overall concept even if the actual execution fell a little flat for me.

4 stars
I adored this book. It was fun, and had a good message underneath everything else.
The characters were great and well rounded and the story flowed perfectly,
I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on Miss Greenwood going forward.

I had not heard of this author before, but got an egalley of this book. It's a funny funny rom-com, but with some serious messaging about friends, and family, human connections, the lingering effects of bullying, and more. I loved all of the characters (and bonus points, none of the women were described as "chaotic", which is 21st century "manic pixie dream girl", so kudos for that). I will look for more titles by this author.

I really enjoyed this book it was alot like watching the good place but with a twist I really got into delphine looking for the guy she found in the writing room and I couldnt wait to finish thanks for letting me and discover a new author

It definitely has the Dead Romantics vibes, but the writing isn't as clean and I didn't find the humor as in-line with my own. I stopped after chapter 1 (4%) but likely three stars for the target audience, four to five for the right readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.

A cute rom-com with an interesting premise, this is sure to appeal to romance lovers of every age. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher.
