I love this whole series, and it's exactly what I wanted in a fun mystery!
I love the characters and how they develop over the series, the small town vibes, and let's be real, who doesn't want to own a coffee/record shop? I would put these books in the same realm as the Finlay Donovan series, so solid friendships, small town hijinks, comedic relief, but also a mystery to solve with lots of suspects.
The physical/ebooks are great, but I really loved the audio versions too!

Thank you Minotaur and NetGalley for the eARC of Rhythm and Blues! All opinions in this review are my own.
I feel like each book in the Record Shop Mystery series is stronger than the last and Rhythm and Blues is no exception! I liked how the mystery unfolded and that there were quite a few suspects. My only complaint was that it seemed to repeat background information that was previously explained. For example, when Juni mentions a number of times that she sunk her life savings into the record shop and can't lose it. However, these were small moments and shouldn't deter you from reading it!
Rhythm and Blues feels like an ending. I am not sure if it is the last book in the series, but there isn't information for another book and it wraps up nicely.

Another entertaining and well plotted mystery in this fun series. This book had a storm that washed out the roads leading in to town which trapped the killer there. Great twist to a locked room mystery. The Jessup sisters are great and work so well together

"Rhythm and Clues" by Olivia Blacke delivers cozy charm in abundance, set against the backdrop of the lively Texas neighborhood. While the plot may lack some depth, the book's quaint setting and engaging characters more than make up for it. Perfect for readers seeking a light-hearted mystery with plenty of small-town appeal

I enjoy cozy mystery books as a well-earned break from “heavier” reading and the Record Shop Mystery series is a good example of the genre. Three sisters have invested in a record shop/coffee bar in a small town near Austin, Texas. The focus on family makes this series especially enjoyable. The main character is Juni (short for Juniper), the youngest of the sisters, who all have flower names; Maggie (Magnolia) and Tansy are the other two. Their relationship is wonderful and realistic.
Running a shop like theirs is a precarious financial undertaking and there are other small businesses in town that are also struggling. A capital investment firm, Fjord Capital, has poured money into several of them and the two principals, Zack and Savannah, are trying to talk Juni into doing business with them. As Juni checks with the other local businesses, she finds varying opinions about Fjord; some are positive but more are negative, saying that their business has picked up but now they owe more money than they did before Fjord Capital got involved.
When Zack is killed in a car crash right in front of Sip & Spin (their store), Juni once again gets involved in trying to figure out “whodunit.”
I was happy to see that (no spoilers!) Juni finally decides which of her two romantic interests to pursue and who to end things with. (This is one of my major issues with the long-running Stephanie Plum books - make up your mind already!)
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Juni Jessup and her sisters are having difficulty keeping their record/coffee shop afloat. When an old acquaintance who invests in small businesses is found dead, Juni. can’t help but feel there is more to his death then it seems. After all, his shady dealings left a bitter taste in some owners mouths. Left with an emotional girlfriend and business partner as her best hope, Juni tries to unravel the truth in order to help Cedar River and it’s business owners seek justice.

This is the third book in this fun series. Juni Jessup runs a vintage record store/coffee shop with her two sisters. During a storm, Juni and Tansy realize their store could be flooding, so they head out in the horrible weather to check. What they did not expect was a murder right outside their doors!
With the weather having knocked down trees to keep people from heading in and out of town, Juni finds that she is trapped in her town with the killer. Her romances with both the detective in charge of the case and a local farmer are also key in this novel.
I really enjoy books that can mix romance with mystery, and this author does a great job of that! (I also think the names of the coffee drinks are cute!)
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this book. This is one series I hope continues on for a long time!

This is another fantastic addition to the Record Store Mysteries! If you haven’t read this series yet, feel free to jump in on this one or head back to the first book. For this mystery we’ve got Juni and her 2 sisters owning a record store in Texas, with a sassy cat named Daffy, a vintage Victrola record player, hockey games, a coffee named Cherry On My Wayward Son, a love triangle, storms, floods, and lastly a MURDER.
The characters in this series are great, and I can tell Olivia Blacke is an SPN fan bc thé found family/family bonds are strong in this one. I love Juni and her sisters, and this may be the first book I’ve read that made me actually wish I’d had sisters growing up. The other characters in the community feel very realistic, including some rude customers lol. and I will just say that I am FIRMLY team Teddy🧸.
One of the key components of any great cozy mystery is the small businesses that keep the quirky little town running. I felt like this book was an homage to that, in that to figure out the mystery Juni really had to look into how these small businesses are being run and who is profiting from them. I feel like my only complaint is that Juni isn’t the punch a guy in the face type, cuz in that first chapter I REALLY wanted her to punch a guy in the face. But i do feel like Tansy would have punched a guy in the face. She might be my favorite sister, just saying.
The mystery is a head scratcher and felt very well written. I look forward to book 4!!!🤞🙏🏼

Music? Check. Mystery? Check. Texas setting? Check. I don’t look for books in Texas, but it is fun when I find one! This was just a cozy book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This is a cute cozy mystery set in a small town near Austin. The main character ran a record store with her sisters, and, unfortunately, witnessed another death during a rain storm. Was it an accident? Or was there an ulterior motive behind it?
For just jumping into the middle of the series, it was surprisingly easy to follow along. A good standalone, though it’s obvious it’s part of a series. The author did a great job at introducing the characters/story.
The overall setting was interesting. I’ve read many cozy mysteries surrounding eateries and hobby shops, so it was fun to discover one a little more unique. A record store/coffee shop that also offers karaoke? Sounds like a fun hot spot!
The twist at the end? Did not expect it. I had my sights on who I assumed the “bad guy” to be and held on to it about halfway or so through. Was I wrong? 100%. Olivia Blacke really surprised me - which doesn’t happen often for me with mysteries/thrillers.
Overall, a fun story. Check it out if you like cozy mysteries, more retro music vibes (you have to hear the names of their coffee flavors), or if you just want a non-stressful mystery. I, personally, hope to finish reading the rest of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, received from the publisher and author through NetGalley. However, all thoughts and views reflected are strictly my own opinions.

I love the relationship of our MC has with her sisters and her crazy uncle. But also the romance 💘 subplot that she finally has figured out what she what wanted from her heart. This is all happening while trying to find out who is the murderer is walking around town.

A cozy mystery that will hook you in the beginning. It has quirky characters ,small town charm, and a dash of suspense
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A nice addition to the Record Shop Mysteries series! "Rhythm and Clues" follows Juni and her sisters as they try to solve their next mystery. This time, the death involves their potential new business partner. But as they discover how many dissatisfied partners he already has, something isn't adding up.
I enjoyed revisiting Cedar River and its denizens, and seeing what everyone was up to. In this installment of the series, a massive storm has knocked out the power and the roads out of town are blocked due to downed trees. Unfortunately, a murder took place on Main St at the height of the storm, so they're stranded with a murdered on the loose.
And what does that have to do with all the mannequin parts that suddenly appeared in the river? Hmm...
Thanks to Olivia Blacke, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

Rhythm and Clues is the third book of the Record Shop Mystery series. While this book is part of a series, it could be read as a standalone as well (although I would encourage you to read the first book because it's so good!)
This was a fun read for the cast of characters, small town vibe, and the record shop itself. Each time I read these books I end up wanting to listen to music due to the musical references made throughout the book. As far as the mystery is concerned, it was engaging and somewhat entertaining considering the situations/shenanigans Juni got herself into. I will say I’m glad the love triangle was resolved in this book. I’ve read other cozy series where the love triangle went on longer than I felt it should (personal opinion, I know) so it was great to see that Juni was able to make a decision before it went on for too long.
Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I loved this cozy mystery book! I will be reading more from this author. I would definitely recommend this book.

This is the third installment in the Record Shop Mystery series. I did not read book 2, but enough details are mentioned from that timeline so I didn't feel like I was missing context. This time there hockey games, rainstorms, and power outages contribute to this murder that needs to be solved.
I especially like that the love triangle is resolved in this book and I respect that the character didn't string both love interests along for years (ahem, Stephanie Plum and Hannah Swensen). I'm looking forward to continuing with this series.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I am required by law to disclose this.

I thought this was really well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I think it will find readers at our library, so we will definitely be purchasing for the collection.

Gosh, I love Tansy and this series! Once again, Tansy finds herself at the center of another murder in Cedar River. With the help of her supporting cast of characters, Detective Beau and hunky Teddy, she sets about trying to solve the case. The growing love triangle is so fun. What was missing was more interaction with the sisters and their mother. We didn't get nearly enough of Juni and Maggie. I can't wait for the next installment in the series!

I have love all three of the books in the Record Shop series. In fact, as soon as a new one is released, I’ll be in line anxious to read it. The characters are well developed and I have loved getting to know Tansy, Maggie, and Juni ... sisters with very different personalities. This one has a lot of twists and turns and edge-of-your-seat moments as Juni works to solve the murder mystery. I remember the days of purchasing vinyl records and how excited I would be for the latest release. One of the things I absolutely love about this series are the names Juni comes up with for the drinks. They are so creative and have you thirsty for a taste. I can’t wait for the next adventure with the Sip and Spin gang and to see how relationships continue to develop.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

The following review was posted on Kings River Life Magazine online:
In Olivia Blacke’s Rhythm and Clues (the third entry in the Record Shop Mystery Series) readers are once again visiting Cedar River, Texas, but this time in a torrential Texas thunderstorm.
Juni Jessup, along with her sisters Tansy and Maggie, own Sip & Spin Records and are getting some serious pressure from predatory investors. The sisters aren’t ready to sign on the dotted line, and after Juni spends an evening at a hockey game with Zachary and his business partner Savannah, Juni’s even more sure she wants nothing to do with them.
Once she returns home that evening, Juni and Tansy brave the elements to check on their store and their store cat, Daffy. While mopping up water, there is a loud crash and they run outside to find a car up on the curb with the driver’s side door open and financier Zachary dead inside on the passenger side.
Did Zachary die from the crash or is foul play at work? And where is the driver? All roads in and out of town are washed out due to the storm so everyone is stuck, giving this well-plotted mystery a locked-room type of feel and this ups the tension even more.
I flew through this mystery in just two sittings, enjoying both the twists and turns of the mystery, as well as the wonderful small town details and the creative musically themed drinks served at Sip & Spin records. There’s also some light romance blended into the story, and while the love triangle trope can be frustrating, it seems to be resolved by the end of the book. I enjoyed Juni and her sisters so much, each funny and loveable in their own way. The family dinner scene and the other characters who are part of Juni’s extended family had me chuckling as I read. I’ll certainly be reading more in this series.

This is the third book in Blacke's Record Shop Mystery Series and it didn't disappoint. Sip and Spin is the small business run by Juni and her sisters. Unfortunately business isn't going all that well and the one shady investor interested in the Sip and Spin is found murdered outside their place of business. I enjoyed this cozy novel and would definitely sit down with the next!
