This book was one I read very quickly and greatly enjoyed! It was a really good mix of a romantasy, thriller with some horror added in. I love a book that has some twists and turns and this one did not disappoint! I would say that it did have a feeling of being rushed and throwing everything in to get it in, if it was a bit longer then it could have been less overwhelming to my brain. But overall I enjoyed the story and would read more by the authors!

3/5 stars. This wasn't a memorable book for me, and I had a hard time keeping up with the different story lines, POVs, etc. I did like the writing style, the use of metaphors was pretty. However, it didn't click for me. It seems like it should have been a much longer book and it would have been more successful!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This novel offers a whirlwind of fateful encounters, tangled timelines, and a unique twist on the concept of destined love. However, amidst its captivating narrative and intriguing premise, the book struggles to find its footing, leaving readers grappling with its rushed pace and tangled plotlines. From the outset, the novel presents multiple timelines, a narrative technique that adds complexity but also confusion to the storyline. While the threads eventually converge, the initial confusion can be a barrier for readers attempting to immerse themselves in the narrative. The absence of a clear point of reference further exacerbates the challenge of navigating through the multiple temporal layers. One of the central elements of the story revolves around the notion of "fated lovers" and "twin flames," injecting a fresh perspective into the well-trodden territory of romance narratives. The exploration of these themes adds depth to the plot, offering readers a unique vantage point from which to view the dynamics between the characters. Despite its innovative premise, "Fated Flames" falters in its execution. The pace of the narrative feels hurried, with events unfolding at breakneck speed, leaving little room for character development or nuanced exploration of themes. The instantaneous nature of the romantic entanglements feels contrived, veering dangerously close to the realm of cliché high school romance tropes. While the writing itself is undeniably captivating, drawing readers in with its evocative prose and vivid imagery, the frenetic pace of the plot ultimately detracts from the overall reading experience. The narrative seems to propel forward with relentless momentum, leaving readers struggling to keep pace with its dizzying trajectory. In conclusion, this is a novel that brims with potential, offering a fresh take on familiar themes of love and destiny. However, its rushed pace and convoluted plotlines detract from its overall impact, leaving readers yearning for greater depth and coherence. Despite its shortcomings, the novel possesses moments of brilliance, hinting at the author's untapped potential and leaving room for future growth and refinement.

Not my favorite personally but that’s just me. I had a really hard time forcing myself to finish this

Quick Synopsis
Josephine moves to a small town to live with her aunts after something tragic happens and meets Caius. Together they discover that they are more connected then they think.

My Review
I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars. The plot was very fast paced and seemed like it was trying to be like Practical Magic. The characters were not someone that I felt that I could connect to or that I were rooting for. I don’t find the way Josephine acts realistic. Caius literally stole from your aunts and you still go out with him? I don’t think so. They also hung out together for maybe a week before they start dating. It’s takes insta-love to a whole new level. The story was trying to create depth into the characters love by adding the background information, but it felt very basic and didn’t do anything for me. I wouldn’t recommend this book to others. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

First of all, thank you NetGalley and Evernight Teen for the ARC.

“The Hanging Night” by Sasha Hibbs & Christina Hooker is the first book of The Threads of Fate series.

Unfortunately, I didn't love this book as much as I hoped to.
Even though I liked the concept, multiple POVs, and the quotes in every chapter, I wasn't particularly fond of the insta-love.
In addition, I found the book a bit rushed and some parts confusing.

The Hanging Night
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫(3.5)

Thank you to the publisher and author approving me to read this ARC on Netgalley. I don’t know why I waited to long to read it. I should’ve read this as I was in my reading slump because it would’ve helped me out of it.

I am a lover girl at heart forever and that’s why I enjoyed this read and read it so very quickly. I would’ve rated ir higher, but I felt this story was a little bit too rushed and I wanted more from Caius and Josephine’s relationship and etc.

I loved the spiritual, paranormal, crossed lovers, twin flames, and so much more that was interpreted into this story. It has grasped my interest immediately once I read the connection between the two characters. The gravitational pull that they had towards each other and didn’t want to shy away from it. That deep connection I always admire reading when two characters are destined for each other in the romance world.

I did really enjoy this whole storyline though. The curse, tarot cards, the way everything tied all together in both of their lives. It was very intriguing and had kept me on my toes and had some nail biting moments duding some of the suspenseful parts of what’s next for them and the story.

This book was a fast paced read which I loved.
It also included:
Multiple POV
Horror(kind of)
Romance
Curses
Twin flames/soulmates
Witches
And more.

This book is a first in The Threads of Fate series. This also was written by two authors Sascha Hibbs and Christina Hooker. I don’t think I have ever read a book with multiple authors so that was a new experience of reading for me!

“The hotter the fire, the faster it burns, and you can’t keep throwing gasoline. It isn’t practical.”

“The Hanging Night,” by Shasha Hibbs and Christina Hooker

Jospehine goes back to her mother’s hometown after her death where she meets Caius. Caius is a boy with a tragic backstory and a load of bad habits. Both fall into an all-consuming relationship that was destined to be. Malevolent occurrence starts happening and they both must stop the curse in time.

I liked this book. It is a YA almost insta-love type of relationship between two star-crossed lovers/ twin flames. It’s a pretty short book and the story was predictable but was really good. I liked being able to see both of their traumas and experiences. I do wish the father played a bigger role in the book. 4 out of 5 stars, definitely worth reading.

Rating 2.5/5 Penguins (rounded down)
Quick Reasons: one dimensional characters; I struggled to get through this one; instalove all the way; intriguing play on fated lovers; if I were more invested in the characters that ending would have BROKEN me

HUGE thanks to Sasha Hibbs, Christina Hooker, Evernight Teen, and Netgalley for the ARC copy of this title! My review of this book is voluntarily written and in no way altered or impacted by this gesture.

I wanted, SO BADLY, to love this book, Penguins. I fell in love with the cover, the blurb was just captivating enough to really draw me in and keep me guessing, and I was SO ready to be destroyed by this book. But the truth is...I struggled, hard core, to get into and then to finish this read. And I am so, so sad about that. This isn't a BAD read. The story is fast-paced, there's a unique twist to the idea of "fated lovers" and "twin flames" that blew this out of the water, and the writing is captivating. The story seems to almost fall into your lap, and then make YOU fall with it.

BUT....fast paced as the plot was, this was almost TOO fast. Things happened at a speed that makes little sense (or maybe it happened at a normal time, but without a true "point of reference" I don't know which it was.) The insta-love was immediate, cloying, and almost high-school ish (which I mean, okay, they ARE in high school, but still). I didn't feel as if we really got a SENSE for who these characters are, what motivates/drives them, what their personalities are...instead, it was "Oh, you're the new girl, I'm the broody guy with issues....and now our entire personalities are each other." The aunts had a bit more character building around them, which made up for the main duo not really having any. On top of this...a lot of this story had holes. We find out the truth about the past versions of our main duo, we find out the truth behind the magics and what's happening, but toward the end it felt less cohesive and more "thrown" together. For most of this read, the story is told in dual-POVs for our main duo...but then at the end, suddenly, we have POVs for every character mentioned? It did not feel truly "cohesive" but rather an attempt to "force the story" and/or force it all to make sense. And the ending?! I'll be honest...if I were more invested in these characters and their stories, the ending might have broken me completely. Instead, it just felt...a bit trite. And this is just book 1??? I don't see where a Book 2 could possibly go from here, so I'm interested in how that's going to play out.

I wish, so badly, I could have loved this read, Penguins. The good news is, while it wasn't the book for me personally, I'm sure there are some of you out there who will absolutely LOVE this read! I definitely recommend checking it out if you're a lover of all things mystical and magic, fated tarot readings, and the breaking of an EONS long curse. The Hanging Night is upon us, Penguins....are you ready to bare your soul?

Overall I enjoyed the book.
However, I wish the book was a bit longer because it felt rushed. The multiple timelines was a bit confusing but it does all tie in together at the end. Which was bittersweet 🥹

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book 🙏🏼

Really enjoyed this book, was very different to anything else I’ve read recently in a good way. Was a little confusing at first with the different timelines and working out how they connected but the ended was incredible and made everything make so much sense!

This was such a good book! I absolutely flew through this book. The characters were so interesting and I absolutely loved where the author took this story. I will be recommending this book to all my family and friends.

I am speechless. It was just so beautiful and poetic. I loved the POVs we got all on almost all characters. They didn't overshadow the main characters, if anything it added more depth to the story. I loved the whole concept of soulmateism. This was such a visual representation of it, I could see the flames creating them and red threads tying them. Both of the main characters were perfectly handled. I could connect with them, feel their feelings and understand their reasonings whether I agreed or not.

#NetGalleyARC Another book that I had high hopes for but was left feeling meh. The writing was okay but sometimes it was hard to follow the plot, characters and timeline. I love the plot of lovers finding each other in different times but this one just didn’t do it for me.

2,5☆

Thank you to the publisher and authors for the arc. All opinions are my own!

I wasn't the biggest fan of this book. It was very confusing and had so much packed into such a short book that I couldn't keep up with what was happening. Towards the end, there were so many chapters from so many characters' povs that were unnecessary, in my opinion.

I didn't like the characters, and they were really one-dimensional. The romance in this was also very, very instalove, and while I usually don't mind it, it did bother me here.

This book could have been 200 pages longer and made way more sense! I do think some of the writing with its metaphors was beautiful, and that's why I'm giving the extra half star.

I found The Hanging Night to be an engaging read, the elements that didn't quite align with my genre preferences might explain why I didn't wholly adore it. I certainly don't have any other criticisms beyond the ones I've already stated. Nevertheless, for those drawn to stories of profound love and heartbreaking conclusions, this novel offers a satistying, albeit emotionally challenging, experience.

It was an interesting book. Ending on a bittersweet note, It had the type of pace that one would call cozy, however it was a love story about star crossed lovers I found endearing. It could be called cozy horror. Because It felt cozy at first but ended in a way one would describe as horror
