For fans of Wendy Heard and April Henry! My students eat up mystery thrillers like The Agathas, Girl Stolen, Dead End Girls and more. This is a fast-paced psychological thriller mystery in the same vein that eloquently explores the deep undercurrents of sibling relationships. Grace can’t remember what happened to her sister Maddie at a sibling retreat, but now Maddie is dead. Part retrospective on their relationship and part what-actually-happened, this one has a final twist teens will love.

Crying, brb. 😭
Sisters Grace and Maddy are on their senior sabbatical trip to Shady Oaks Lodge which promises to completely change you. Grace, extroverted and popular and Maddy, an introvert with literally one friend-a friend who’s seemingly found someone better to hang out with, the sisters couldn’t be more opposite. When Grace wakes up on the side of the road, a mile from the lodge, with no memory on how she got there, she learns her sister is missing. Even though the girls don’t always see eye to eye, Grace still loves her sister, needs her, and she’s desperate to find out what happened that night and how she ended up on the side of the road, without a single memory to show for it. More importantly, she needs to find Maddy before it’s too late. But how can she do that when she can’t remember a thing? As Grace searches for answers, is it possible that her and Maddy were more alike than either of them thought?
“You’re going to fall down in life. You’re going to get caught in the rain. You could let that stop you from living, or you could go along for the ride and pick yourself up when you reach the bottom.”
This is a fast paced page turner about two sisters. One resents the other for being everything they’re not-Loved, liked, beautiful (even though they look the same), popular, talented and gets whatever she wants. It’s about secrets that were kept too long and revealed far too late.
I caught the main twist pretty early on and I was a tad upset about that, but I still absolutely loved this story. I definitely teared up a few times. As a sister, I know how it feels to constantly compare yourself, but at the end of the day, the love is unconditional.
This was beautifully heartbreaking and definitely worth the read!

Gorgeous teen thriller that really gives me the sort of vibes of something like Five Survive, or in the adult sphere smth like an Unger. thanks for the arc.

The cover of this book drew me in. The first few pages got me obsessed!!! I cannot wait to order the physical copy to add to my book shelf! This book is great for those who enjoy YA (young adult) books. Detailed, fast paced, and easy to feel like one of the characters.

If you enjoy reading books from the YA Thriller genre you're not going to want to miss out on this author's debut novel . "Sister Sister" was a fast-paced engaging read, I read it cover to cover in one session.
The Plot:
This story is centered around two sisters who are very close in age and looks but have polar opposite personalities. One is a perfectionist who excels at sports and friendships the other is an introvert who feels like she will always live in her sister's shadow. Both girls end up missing on a school trip, only one is found injured with no memory of what happened.
Told in dual perspectives and timelines , this story takes your emotions on a roller coaster ride as the events of that night build up to the big reveal.
This book checked off all the boxes on what I want and expect in a solid YA Mystery Thriller. I really enjoyed the characters, the storyline and how much emotion was included into this story.
I would definitely recommend checking this book out!
Thank you to Megan Davidhizar, Net Galley and Random House Children's - Delacorte Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Wow. Just wow. This book drew me in from the description and it lived up to being everything I wanted it to be. I liked the contrasting points of view of during and after the sabbatical, told from Maddy's and Grace's points of view, respectively, and I liked the inclusion of Maddy's poems after her chapters. Most of the reveal took me by surprise, but I did start to pick up hints of one of the reveals a couple of chapters before it was actually revealed. I think that the execution of the reveal was good and I liked how the book ended, touching and grief and healing.

Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for this outstanding ARC. I love mysteries, sister stories, gorgeous writing, and in depth character building. This book had it all. What happens when one sister feels overshadowed by the other? And one sister disappears and the other sister is left bloody with a fractured memory? You'll never guess at all the twists and heart ripping moments this book has. Don't read it on a work night! No sleep for me, but five big stars for this book!

This debut YA novel by Megan Davidhizar is surprising in subtle ways, deceivingly complex, and deliciously engrossing. I began Silent Sister expecting a teen plot-driven (maybe murder?) mystery focusing on two sisters. While it took me a few chapters to get into the vibe of Grace & Maddy, I soon found myself reading until 1 am, even when I had final exams to grade.
What hooked me was the depth at which Davidhizar explores the introverted Maddy. It is the most natural human tendency to compare ourselves to others, but what happens when you are stuck in a lifelong emotional match-up with your socially popular and athletic sister? A sister you love but who you feel eclipsed by in every way? The dual perspectives of Maddy & Grace's journals set up a complex tension where the reader is trying to determine which perspective is more accurate and truthful, all the while feeling both empathetic and, at times, annoyed with both characters.
As the mystery of what happened on Senior Sabbatical drives the plot, the author threads in secondary characters who interact with the Stoll sisters, complicating Grace's confusion or... maybe trying to illuminate a path forward. Who can she trust? The plot escalates into fifth gear with unexpected revelations and twists. My students will LOVE this book! I found it difficult to put down and was simultaneously thrilled and sad when I came to the last page. The author has set the bar high for my next 2024 read:-)
As a seventh and ninth grade teacher, I am excited to add this book to my classroom library next fall. Through the engaging plot, Megan Davidhizar deals with complex issues like identity, grief, forgiveness, trust, and mental health. I also found it a wonderfully written and compelling story devoid of profanity and explicit scenes, so have no qualms about making it accessible to all of my students.
I am thankful to have been granted an ARC from NetGalley and am sharing my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author/publisher for an ARC of this book!
I haven't been this sucked into a book in a long time. I read this book in less than 2 days and I couldn't put it down. The storyline, the characters, the twists were all articulated perfectly and I will highly recommend this book to others before/when it comes out. I can't wait to follow Megan Davidhizar and other books she writes in the future as well. 10/10!

I love an amnesia themed thriller and found myself devouring Silent Sister in one sitting. This is a fast paced YA thriller with epic twists that I never saw coming. I can't wait to read more from the author.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND PUBLISHER FOR THIS ADVANCE REVIEW COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
Grace and Maddy are sisters who look alike but couldn't be more different. Their school offers a sabbatical trip in the final trip which is considered a life-changing event but in a good way. Although, it unexpectedly changed Stoll's sister's life. One was found injured near the road and the other was missing. Grace is struggling with her memory and can't remember what happened in the last week. She is desperate to find her sister but her memory is not helping neither her friends.
The start of the book was interesting but with time story kept going in circles and I lost interest. There was so much happening but felt unnecessary and dragged. I like a few aspects of the book how communication is important and other stuff but the writing let it down. It took me a week to finish this book as I wasn't curious to get to know what was happening in the story. The twist surprised me a bit so that's a positive thing. Although, I found the ending underwhelming.

I’m going to be honest: I guessed the big reveal almost immediately. I won’t spoil it for anyone else, but I didn’t find Silent Sister to be particularly thrilling or mysterious. That isn’t to say it wasn’t a decent read; it had a solid message behind it about sisterhood and honestly, and I did find myself invested in the overall plot and how everything would pan out.
In the end, I think this book is best suited for anyone who doesn’t want too scary or intense a mystery, and likes an overall message to their stories.

I wish I didn't need to give this a star rating because this one just wasn't for me. I don't think any of the reasons why are necessarily relevant to anyone else, so I'm just gonna leave it at four stars. Not for me, could be great for others. Appreciate the early look!

This book was INSANE. (In the best way possible!) It was really compelling and I could not put it down! I really loved how the story switched sides so often, both sides leading to the huge plot twist at the end! This story went in so many directions, and every one of them was so interesting and different! I would definitely reccomend!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this arc. This book had me hooked from start to finish. I loved reading from both Grace and Maddy perspectives. This is one of the best books I've read.

This was a solid read that will keep you invested throughout. Wanting to uncover what happened to these characters definitely drives the plot. It is told in alternating past and present perspectives, which was nicely done and helps share character growth. I also liked the addition of Maddy’s poems that were inter dispersed. The author does well sharing the characters inner feelings and how it impacts their lives and the relationships with those around them. She doesn’t shy away from the hard realities either, which I appreciated. Although there is a missing person and there is mystery involved, this is really more of a story of sisterhood and taking a look at one’s self-worth.

This was a heartbreaking, twisty thriller about complicated sister dynamics, confidence, and secrets.
Mandy has always felt like she’s been living in Grace’s shadow. 10 months younger, quieter, less popular, Mandy wants to be a writer. But at the same time Grace is getting into a prestigious college, Maddy is rejected from her dream school. Grace has all the friends; Grace gets all the attention from boys. On the senior class trip, Maddy is determined to reinvent herself. But then everything goes horribly wrong. The narrative flashes back and forth between the trip, from Maddy’s perspective, and present day, from Grace’s perspective, after Maddy has gone missing. There’ are a few different suspects and many ideas about what happened that night—and we don’t know what Grace knows, because she can’t remember anything. The plot twists keep the reader guessing, and the twist at the end is one only the most observant readers will see coming. A fantastic debut!

2.7 — this was an easy read. i feel like parts of this book were kinda repetitive and kept running in circles. i didn't see the twist coming, and i'm not sure if i was a fan of it. but this book was pretty solid for a debut

WOW - now THIS is one that perfectly captivates what it means for a book to be "unputdownable"! It covered a really tough topic about what loss can do to a person, but still incredibly suspenseful - there were many parts when I couldn't flip the page fast enough! Grace was a very strong-willed and well-written character, making the story even more enjoyable. I wasn't quite sure I'd buy into the amnesia aspect, but the ending took me by surprise...and that's saying something! Thanks so much for the ARC and introducing me to a new author - she's definitely one I have my eyes on!

The description of the book seemed interesting, so I wanted to check the story out. Unfortunately, it is not working for me right now. It is nothing against the story or the author, but I couldn't get into the story/characters. I may try and find a physical copy to add the my library when it is released, though, because I think my readers could like it!
