Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for lending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The reality tv show idea seemed cute and fun and I had a lot of hope for this but I don't know it just didn't hit right for me.

Wild About You is a light, fun contemporary romance that delivers charm, humor, and a predictable but sweet love story. Kaitlyn Hill’s writing is accessible and breezy, making it an easy read for fans of feel-good romance. The banter between the leads is entertaining, and the small-town setting adds a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

That said, the plot leans heavily on familiar romance tropes, and the story can feel predictable at times. Some character arcs are underdeveloped, and the romance, while sweet, doesn’t fully sparkle or stand out from similar stories in the genre.

Overall, Wild About You is an enjoyable, easygoing read—perfect for a casual romance fix, though it doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

I enjoyed this but I definitely wanted to like it a little more than I did. The Good: that characters were likable, the concept was fun, the love story was easy to root for. The could’ve been better: this was SO tropey and predictable, which can sometimes be great but this one was just a little over the top for me. Overall, worth the read and very very cute!

Opposites attract in this delightful romcom as two wildly different college students are paired in a reality TV camping game show they hope to win to help fund their tuition.

✨ Book Review: WILD ABOUT YOU by Kaitlyn Hill ✨

🏕️ Book Synopsis: Natalie Hart is a sunshiny theater kid who doesn’t quite belong and certainly hasn’t yet found her footing in college. Finn Markum is grumpy and grieving, but a pro in the woods. As the two are paired as a team to complete a backpacking course and challenges across parts of the Appalachian Trail, they peel back each other’s layers and learn to work together. Then, what starts as a begrudging friendship becomes more. But, can their new romance survive the stresses of the trail and the drama of reality TV?

💗 My Take: Natalie and Finn are so great together! I’ve enjoyed author Kaitlyn Hill since reading her debut novel LOVE FROM SCRATCH and this latest book was just as fun! She again delivers strongly developed characters that are fun to root for. She’s then paired this chemistry with romcom and reality TV situations that made this a delightful and quick read.

Read WILD ABOUT YOU for
☀️ Grumpy x sunshine
🏕️ Forced proximity
🥊 Opposites attract
📺 Reality TV shenanigans
🫠 Anxiety rep
🥾 Appalachian Trail adventure

😘 Thank you to @DelacortePress, @DelacorteRomance, and @NetGalley for the gifted digital ARC! Thanks to my library for the borrowed audiobook. All opinions are my own.

👩🏻‍🏫 Reader Note: Evidently my favorite romances include those that also deal with heavier topics. This story includes learning to live with anxiety and the grief of losing a parent and grandparent. These topics definitely add to the story and character development, but please take care if these are triggers for you.

A fun and charming contemporary romance that mixes humor, self-discovery, and a dash of adventure, perfect for fans of light-hearted yet meaningful reads. With a unique premise and a relatable protagonist, Hill delivers a love story that’s equal parts swoon-worthy and refreshing.

I have carefully reviewed the author’s two previous works, “Love from Scratch” and “Not Here to Stay Friends.” In her latest novel, the author continues to explore the theme of transforming a reality television concept into a teen romance narrative. This time, the setting is a camp-themed competition reminiscent of “The Amazing Race,” wherein the protagonists, Finn and Natalie, are paired as partners for the duration of the event. As an admirer of “The Amazing Race,” I found the fictional competition engaging and would welcome its real-life adaptation. Additionally, I appreciated the initial discord between Finn and Natalie, as he displayed reluctance to accept his role as her partner. This narrative does not precisely align with the traditional enemies-to-lovers or opposites-attract tropes; rather, it represents a reluctant collaboration that ultimately evolves into a romantic relationship.

The character I found least appealing, a conclusion I assert is attributable to her portrayal, is Alli. She exhibited a mean-spirited demeanor and demonstrated a lack of collaboration with her peers. Beyond this, I did not identify any other aspects that I found unsatisfactory. I firmly believe that this narrative possesses the potential to be adapted into an excellent Netflix film.

In summary, this novel by author Kaitlyn Hill is another commendable addition to her body of work. It is not only appealing to readers who have enjoyed her initial two novels and those who appreciate "The Amazing Race," but it also caters to fans of the opposites attract trope and outdoor camping romances. It is recommended that this title be included in one's reading list.

Natalie, a vivacious girly girl, is out of money and options when it comes to paying for the rest of her college education. That is until she sees the flyer for the newest season of her favorite reality show, Wild Adventures, that is giving away scholarship prizes. She's got nothing to lose and signs up only to be paired up with her exact opposite who seemingly hates her immediately. Will their differences be their demise or will they learn to work together?

This was definitely a book that was judged by the cover and thankfully it didn't disappoint! The beautiful cover drew me to the book but the banter between Natalie and Finn kept me reading and needing to know if they could put aside their differences to win the grand prize. If you're a lover of rom-coms, outdoor adventures and witty banter, this book is a must read!

Thank you NetGalley for this e-ARC!

Great anxiety rep, loved the sweet love they had began together (the little kisses and the kind words were swoony, even as an adult). Definitely more geared towards YA with the immaturity of the MMCs, but overall not a bad book. Forced proximity, grumpy sunshine (oh my gosh, grumpy…), and a quirky FMC are definitely present in this story, so if you like those sorts of things, this one would be good for you! Thanks for the opportunity to read as an ARC!

Wild About You was a cute YA contemporary grumpy/sunshine adventure-romance. I enjoyed the concept of the wilderness reality show with random pairings. As someone who spent a fair bit of time on and around the Appalachian Trail when I was younger, the author's descriptions of the setting felt spot-on to me, and I enjoyed the idea of it being in the eastern US rather than the usual "exotic" reality show locale.

I also enjoyed the character growth through the course of the book, and it really felt like the ending was earned, rather than just "given. All in all, a fun, lighthearted book (with brief touches of darker themes -- anxiety, panic attacks, dealing with loss) and a quick, easy read.

Natalie Hart, a bubbly theater major with a full skincare routine, signs up for a wilderness reality show to win scholarship money. She's paired with Finn, a grumpy outdoorsman, and together they tackle challenges on the Appalachian Trail. Their journey is filled with humorous banter, personal growth, and a slow-burn romance.

This book offers a delightful mix of adventure and heartwarming moments. Natalie's struggles with anxiety and Finn's reserved nature add depth to their characters. The reality show setting provides a fun backdrop for their evolving relationship.

This book was written for you if:
1. You enjoy grumpy-sunshine dynamics.
2. You're a fan of reality show settings with a romantic twist.
3. You appreciate stories that blend humor with emotional depth.

I adore everything that Kaitlyn writes. Her writing feels like a warm hug, a mug you put your hands around when they're freezing, or the heaviest blanket on a winter night.

Her characters are easy to cheer for and Wild About You is no exception. Loved it. 5 stars.

Wild About You by Kaitlyn Hill is a delightful and heartwarming romance that masterfully combines adventure, humor, and emotional depth. The story follows Natalie Hart, a vibrant and unapologetically herself college freshman who, after losing her merit scholarship and grappling with anxiety, decides to participate in "Wild Adventures," an outdoor reality show set along the Appalachian Trail. Paired with the rugged and reserved Finn Markum, Natalie embarks on a journey filled with challenges, personal growth, and unexpected romance.

Hill's writing shines with witty dialogue and vivid descriptions that bring the Appalachian setting to life. The chemistry between Natalie and Finn is palpable, their interactions evolving from initial friction to a deep, authentic connection. The portrayal of Natalie's anxiety is handled with sensitivity and realism, adding depth to her character and making her journey all the more relatable.

I have read a few books recently that were centered around hiking, outdoor adventure, and even the Appalachian Trail, and have enjoyed every one. Wild About You was no different. This young adult, grumpy-sunshine read was witty and fun, while also tackling the very prevalent diagnosis of anxiety.

Kaitlyn did a great job of representing some of the struggles people with anxiety face every day, while still keeping the story moving and enjoyable.

This is such a fun and adventurous new adult rom-com! I loved the Amazing Race-esque vibes, and the romance was just super cute! I've enjoyed every one of Kaitlyn Hill's novels, and this was no exception. Definitely check this one out!

Okay as a lover of Reality TV I thought I would love this book. As a loather of hiking and generally allergic to nature (as in actually not that I just don't like it 😅) I thought eh is it for me?

Reality TV side won out! I loved it.

FINN. oh em gee I loved this grump. Especially when his true side showed and I personally loved that it happened before the very end of the story.

Natalie. I feel you girl. like really. the outdoors are a hard pass for me. I just love everything the indoors has to offer 🤣 But I love that you did and became for it!! Proud of this mc :)

I loved the authors portrayal of life in this. The realness. Tackling hard things. Mental health is real and it is a struggle and the author did so good. The booked was still just funny and a good time while being real. Loved it.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.

I did like this sweet and heartwarming story that will probably appeal to fans of romance. I liked the blossoming relationship between the two characters as well as the moments of laughter, tenderness, and emotional growth.

Hill's writing style is engaging and easy to read, making it a delightful escape into a world of love and connection. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, and their interactions are often charming and relatable. The author does a commendable job of capturing the excitement and uncertainty of falling in love.

However, the book is not without its flaws. The pacing can be uneven at times, with certain sections feeling slow and drawn out. Additionally, some plot points are predictable, and the story occasionally relies on common romance tropes, which may detract from the overall freshness of the narrative.

While the characters are likable, a bit more depth and development would have made them even more compelling. Their personal growth throughout the story is somewhat predictable, and a few unexpected twists would have added an extra layer of intrigue. While there's enough charm and sweetness between the characters to make this a worthwhile read, it's not going to stand out from the thousands of books in the romance genre.
