In “Such Charming Liars” you get a little bit of everything. There is family, mystery and suspense. When Jamie is desperate to make a better life for herself and her daughter she finds her answer in Gem. But that new life comes with a cost. On her last “job” things do not go as planned and what happens next no one could have predicted.
A good read with fun characters and some twists that you might not see coming.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Always a big fan and felt like this was a great new one. Always on the hunt for good young adult literature to pass on to the kids and this didn’t disappoint.

Thank you so much to Netgalley & Delacorte Press for approving me for one of my most anticipated reads of the year. In my opinion, Karen M. McManus's books are either really good or just meh, and Such Charming Liars is right in the middle for me. It also feels very different from her other books. It doesn't have the high school/local town mystery to me like her other books do. The book follows Kat, along with her mom, Jamie. - except for two days when Jamie was married and Kat had a stepbrother, Liam. This marriage ended in divorce, and Kat and Liam never see each other again, until one day, many years later, when they run into each other at a party where Jamie and Kat are on one last heist. Things turn deadly when a Sutherland family member dies, and Liam and Kat realize that they are in the killer's crosshairs and are the new targets. The book started at three stars for me. Throughout the first half of the book, I was bored. It starts off slow, building up the plot of the last half of the book and introducing characters. There were so many characters at the beginning of the book, that it's hard to keep track of everyone. I almost DNF'd the book, but at the same time, I didn't want to put it down. It picked up over the last half of the book which I couldn't stop reading and it made me rate this book higher than I originally thought. Once you think you have it all solved, McManus throws so many curveballs your way that your head will be spinning at the end. McManus is truly the queen of YA mystery and will keep you questioning about anything she writes until you turn that last page. Overall, this is a fun read. Not my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. If you like YA mystery books, definitely check this one out.

Such Charming Liars by Karen McManus was such a fun twisty thriller that I just couldn't put down! Told in dual POV's, it's a story of grifters and cons. It was so fun and so twisty that it is easily another favorite this year! I delighted in every revelation!

A fun whodunit romp! McManus knows how to spin a compelling story and keep readers guessing. Teens will enjoy this one.

Such Charming Liars is a slow build. The characters, Kat and her mother Jamie travel to an event so her mom can complete one last heist. It is here that they run into Jamie’s ex-husband (also on a con) and stepson. From here a murder happens and our whodunit begins.
Overall, these characters are not relatable, especially to teens. The ending twists didn’t seem to fit. This book did have the feel of McManus’s other work, The Cousins. If you enjoyed that read, Such Charming Liars may be for you.

If you are looking for a suspenseful YA read with a surprising twist, then "Such Charming Liars" delivers. The story follows Kat and Liam, two teenagers brought together by their parents' wild Las Vegas marriage (and even wilder divorce). Years later, their paths collide again when Liam's father cons Kat's family. With danger lurking and secrets unraveling, Kat and Liam team up, but must first learn to trust each other, even though lying is kind of their family business.
It's a fast-paced novel with alternating chapters from Kat and Liam's points of view. It will keep you guessing about who to trust and the mystery unfolds with plenty of twists and turns.

I love this author and have read all of her books. I enjoyed that this one had a completely new set of characters. I was throughly surprised by the twists in this book

Another YA thriller for the win! I loved this twisty mystery and who doesn't love a good heist! Karen McManus knows how to keep her readers hooked! I enjoyed following Kat navigating the heist and all the drama that followed. The book is tightly plotted and keep me guessing at every turn. Teens will love this book and I highly recommend to all mystery and thriller readers. Thank you Delacorte and Net Galley for the e-arc.

Thanks to Netgalley & Random House Children's for the E-ARC! She's done it again! Loved the pacing & the twists. Also actually liked the characters. A new favorite thriller!!

I will read anything and everything Karen M. McManus writes and I'm always so hyped whenever she drops a new book. That said, this one wasn't a particular favorite for me. I still enjoyed her writing but I wasn't as compelled by the crime/mystery in this one as I have been in many of her past books, and as someone who always enjoys a good romance, there wasn't enough of it here to satisfy. I did really like the characters in this one, though, and it was a fun reading experience overall!

Thank YOU for letting m get my hands on this early.
I love every book Karen M. McManus comes out with, they’re all quick and thrilling reads. Every time you think you know what’s happening, there’s a twist that comes and knocks you sideways.
This is a dual POV following Kat, a 16 year old daughter of thief (not that she wants to be!), and Liam, a sweet, kind hearted used to be stepbrother to Kat. Kats mom Jamie and Liam’s dad Luke got married in Vegas, where married for a whopping 48 hours and never saw each other again. They accidentally meet up at the Sutherland’s famous home for Ross Sutherlands birthday party. Luke wants to marry into the Sutherland family, Jamie is there to steal a gorgeous necklace for her boss Gem. Shenanigans ensue, someone ends up dying, and we’re stuck trying to figure out just WHAT is going on. They befriend Augustus Sutherland (my favorite character) and team up trying to sort out the catastrophe that’s happening.
You’ll just have to read it to find out…..

When I need a break from my intense psychological thrillers, I switch to YA Mysteries and Thrillers. Karen M. McManus has always been a sure thing for me. She has perfected her craft! I truly loved and devoured this book. Although the ending can be predicted by some, it doesn't even matter because the author really has a way with burning the characters into your soul. I was so invested. I highly recommend.

Let’s just say this book was freaking amazing. This author knows how to keep you guessing and I love that so much about her will be buying a physical copy.

I thought this was really well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I think it will find readers at our library, so we will definitely be purchasing for the collection.

This was ADDICTING. I’ve always really enjoyed this author’s writing and plots but this has taken the spot of my favorite Karen McManus book. An exceptional plot, unique and twisty and constant plot twists that you don’t see coming. The cast of characters were my favorite part of this book. I adored Kat and found Liam so lovable and sweet. This was a fun, fast-paced read that you’ll find hard to put down!

Her new book, Such Charming Liars follows Kat and Liam. Kat has been raised by her grifter mom, and Liam’s dad is a bit of a scam artist. Kat and Liam met when they were younger, because their parents were briefly married. Present day, they meet up again, because their parents’ end up at the estate of a wealthy family to pull off scams of their own. But then a member of the wealthy family dies, and Kat and Liam don’t know who they can trust.

I normally LOVE Karen McManus. Like I cannot put her books down. This one, I personally found a little harder to get into. There were a LOT of characters to keep track of which was made more complicated by the alternating voices. However, it was a compelling storyline in the end that finally got me engaged. Readers will enjoy it for sure...just expect it a different pace than, say, One of Us is Lying.
I did enjoy Kat and Liam, two teenagers who had a great deal of baggage in their lives. Lives that had crossed years before and clearly it had made an impact on the two of them.
I also didn't fully see the ending as it played out. Which was a nice feeling!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Karen McManus has done it again! A story that seems like a simple story, a last heist to lead to a better life, ends up with so many twists and turns that you don't know what's coming next. The book is well-written, the two main characters are well-developed and as you get through the book, you learn more and more backstory until it all comes to a head in the finale.

Veering a little outside of her trademark category of YA domestic thrillers, McManus' new book will still appeal to her fan base.
Kat's mother Jamie is a jewel thief, and now that Kat is a teenager and the con game lifestyle is all she has ever really known, she is eager to play her part in the games to relieve pressure on her mother. Jamie, however, wants out of the games altogether so she can offer her daughter a "normal" life. When Jamie agrees to one last heist in exchange for her freedom, she never imagines crossing paths with a con from the past and that Kat would end up in the position of having to complete the con.
This page turner keeps the reader tracing several cons connected to the same ultimate goal and being surprised when there is always one more lie and one more con. Great addition to middle and high school library collections.
