Grand slam!! This book hit it out of the park! What a fun easy read about some of the greatest baseball players of our time. The players cards are a fun touch. If you or your kid are into baseball, I highly suggest picking this book up to learn more about some of the greats. My son is OBSESSED with baseball. I will definitely be buying the hard copy to give to him for his birthday in September. Thank you so much for the ARC.

This is a perfect book to both introduce kids and other new fans to the game of baseball. But it is also a nice keepsake for grown-up fans to remember these great players. The selection of players is a good representation of champions and baseball skills at all positions. The illustrations are well-done and a better choice than photographs. Definitely, a great book for baseball fans of all ages.

I enjoyed reading this biographical essays/chapters about various notable figures on the baseball field. The brief biographies will hold the attention of young readers while providing them with enough facts to be intrigued. I appreciated how the book was organized by position, and more than one player was highlighted in each position. The emphasis on historical figures is much appreciated! I'm not sure that readers who aren't baseball fans will find this book interesting enough though.

I have always been fascinated with baseball from a young age. I love to go to baseball games and cheer on my favorite team. There is nothing quite like the atomsphere of the ballpark. This book is perfect for any young boy or girl who is baseball obsessed and it would be the perfect thing for children to bond over with their parents or grandparents. There is nothing quite like America's pastime! Go Sox!!

This is probably a bit dense for the target audience. My 7yo is a great reader and would love the content, but it's just too many words and not enough graphics. Sports is rife with data and interesting images - why not use that to give reluctant readers a head start?

I've been a baseball lover since I was a kid so I greatly enjoyed this cute book of biographies of baseball players. The players chosen were the ones the author would choose as his starting line-up inlcuding the manager. The names may not be who everyone would choose which is part of what made this so interesting. Including were honorable mentions and runner-up choices as well as information about players from around the world.

There were pictures and stats of all included players. I also liked that before beginning the author gave a run down explanation about what the baseball acronyms and statistics mean.

Overall, this is an awesome resource for the young baseball lover. I'm so glad I read it and I look forward to sharing it with my son to see his thoughts on who his starting line-up would be.

My son read this book. He thought it was great. Here are his thoughts. "I liked that this book told about several different baseball players' lives. It started each short biography of the person at the beginning of their life, telling how they got to the majors, and what they did when their career ended. I also liked the fact that it had an index of baseball abbreviations, and what they meant. It also gave short stories about other players who compared to the player or manager being talked about."
Highly recommend for the baseball lover in your home! My son passed it on to his younger brother. This will be read many times in our home, I am sure.

I downloaded this for my nephew as he is becoming interested in baseball! He also is at that age where he wants fo read about the lives of sports players he admires so this was a great read! The tidbits about the players are short and to the point and the graphics are very good! Very recommended for any young kids interested in baseball!
