This was my first Marni book, and it won’t be my last!

I love a good “one night stand turned obsession” story line! The dynamic between the FMC and the MMC was just 🧑‍🍳 💋

I can’t wait to listen to more from Marni, as soon as I was finished with this one, I went on audible and downloaded what I could find! I’ll be binge listening during work next week.

This is Book 1 of the Spade Hotel series

• Billionaire romance
• Grumpy sunshine
• Boy obsessed
• One night stand
• VERY spicy
• No 3rd act breakup

Macon and Brooklyn meet one night at a club and have a steamy night together. He quickly becomes obsessed and needs to see her again. Brooklyn wants to focus on finishing school and doesn’t want any distractions. She can’t resist the pull she feels towards Macon though.

If you liked the Dalton brothers, you will enjoy this. We get several cameos from them in this new series. I definitely recommend the audiobook. It was an easy and enjoyable listen with incredible spice. Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom did an amazing job narrating as Brooklyn and Macon.

Marni…your books are always hot ma’am, but I think this might be your spiciest to date. Goodness! 🥵

Thank you to @marnimann and @valentine_pr_ for the ALC.

The Playboy by @marnimann
Narrated by @savannahpeachwood & @tor_thom

First of all, thank you so much to the narrators for their interpretation, you both fit perfectly with Macon and Brooklyn, and it was amazing. I had such a great time hearing you both for this story, and my cheeks flushed so many times…

The Playboy is book one in the Spade Hotel series. Marni Mann knows how to make a girl blush, she’s a master at it and I adored it.

Macon is a Playboy, but one look at Brooklyn and he becomes obsessed. This man surprised me in so many ways. He’s not just a billionaire, he’s so much more : caring, thoughtful, so humble, who works really hard at his job, but who also has such a dirty mouth… wow I want a man like that in my life. I can tell you that he falls first and he falls very hard.

Brooklyn had always worked really hard for her studies, in her life, to be where she is. She’s smart, strong, independent, fiesty and has a filthy mouth. Macon and her are a perfect match. I really enjoyed her relationship with her sisters. I loved them too and hope they get their own books ♥.
I really loved the way Brooklyn resisted Macon's charms, but sometimes I also wanted to talk some sense into her.

I found the book dragged a bit in the middle. I felt it was a little longer than it needed to be sometimes, but it quickly picked up and ended with a bang. Did I mention the level of spice in this book? High, high level 🔥🔥.

Thank you to @valentine_pr_ @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for sending me both ARC & ALC in exchange for an honest review.

The Playboy gave me Cinderella vibes. Not completely… but vibes. And as basic as it may be, I love Cinderella.

A beautiful and mysterious stranger. No identities. Just one magical night of passion.

✨ Rich Boy/Poor Girl
✨ Only One Night
✨ Grumpy/Sunshine
✨ Reformed Playboy
✨ He Falls First

This was a super quick, smutty read that made me smile. Watching everything fall into place perfectly was like reading a fairytale. Macon is a man obsessed and I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.

This audiobook is a dual narration from both the fmc and mmc. I really enjoyed the dual pov! The story flowed nicely from both parties. I think the male main characters voice was attempting to make Brooklyns voice a little high. I also did not love how on some sentences his voice would trail off and not finish words. The voice picked for Brooklyn was perfect! I really felt the emotion in her voice in the audio. The book its self is a spicy billionaire romance that follows one of the space brothers in the interconnected series. Macon is a playboy and has no intentions of settling down, until he sees his tiny dancer. This is a he falls first romance and boy does he fall. Brooklyn wants nothing to do with men due to her complicated life but Macon makes it his mission to worm himself in. The spice is soooo good. Macon is so sweet to Brooklyn the entire book, ugh. I’ve read a couple of Marni’s books and this was the spiciest yet 😮‍💨

This will be a hot and spicy series, just from book 1. Wow! Marni Mann never disappoints me. The audiobook for this is fantastic and I think it helped me get past the characters ages. Our main female character is 22 and still technically in college (not something I usually enjoy). He is already taking over huge parts of his family empire at 27. It was just going to be a one-night-stand but HE couldn’t get enough.

There are many aspects to this storyline that kept me intrigued and interested to the very finish. I cannot wait to continue this series.

This is the first book in the new Spade Hotel series from Marni Mann. Macon and Brooklyn’s love story was entertaining and such a great read. Brooklyn was a strong independent heroine, and I loved how determined she was to pave her way. Macon was a strong hero, seeing him fall first was a nice change.

Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood did a really nice job portraying these characters.

This is the first audiobook I’ve listened to by this author (haven’t read any of her books either). It’s the first book in the Spade Hotel series, so I thought it was a great time to try her out. I thought the story was cute—a billionaire falling hard for his one night stand, who attempts to reject his pursuit but their chemistry makes it impossible. There’s secrets, dreams, aspirations for both of them which could interfere with their relationship. It’s all shiny & new, and in Macon’s case, perhaps unwanted. There are a lot of steamy scenes in this story. A lot. So if this is your thing, you will not be disappointed. I think Savannah Preachwood did a great job with Brooklyn and her chapters were a pleasure to listen to. I really like Tor Thom, I think he did a wonderful job with his dual narration—I think this is more about casting—he sounded quite a bit older than the characters he was portraying. I know it’s a small detail but it affects my visualisation of events and it occasionally took me out of the story. Overall, I enjoyed the audiobook. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Audio.

PUB DAY REVIEW

The Playboy by Marni Mann
Pub Date - 12/28/2023

This is the first book in the Spade Hotel series and wow did it start out with a bang! It was such a fun read with sizzling chemistry. Also the spice was spicing in this one. But I have come to learn that any book Marni writes will have some of the best spicy scenes!

Macon is your typical playboy billionaire, working to build the Spade Hotel. He honestly just oozes sex appeal and just ugh. Loved him. I loved Brooklyn. She was such a fun, smart, and determined woman. She had her eyes set on the end goal with no intentions of any interruptions. But after a one night stand that all changes. Macon wants her. She is all he can think about and really Brooklyn is not super interested. What will it take for him to sweep her off her feet.

This was honesty a really quick and fun read. This was the epitome of opposite attract and leave you thinking are they really meant to be. But I absolutely adored them together and watching them over come their feelings and secrets in a mature way. This was a great start to a new series by Marni! I cannot wait for the next one!

Holy moly was this a great, steamy kickoff to Marni's new series! That Macon was something else. Marni writes the best, possessive alpha males that know how to take care of their woman, and Macon was no exception to that. Brooklyn was an amazing FMC, knowing exactly what she wants, and doing everything in her power to make her dreams happen. But it is what made her hold back with Macon. Of course, he eventually wore her down with all his delicious ways (because who could really resist all his swoon and spice) and I was so here for it. I loved catching up with a few characters from Marni's last series as well, it always adds a little something extra to the story when you know more of the characters.
The narration from Savannah and Tor was great. Savannah is always amazing, and Tor really brought out the sexy broodiness of Macon.

When Macon Spade’s young heart was broken by his high school girlfriend, he vowed no more commitment, no other woman would ever hurt him again and he went on to spend most of his twenties as a perpetual playboy, indulging in a multitude of one-night stands with no regrets. That is until he encounters his tiny dancer in a Kauai nightclub and one night with her isn’t enough, but the tables are about to be turned on him as his mysterious girl doesn’t want anything more.

The Spade Hotel series is off to a strong start with The Playboy. I love a romance where it involves a playboy who falls and fast for the heroine who is more reluctant to start anything, and he really has to work to win her. Throw in a smattering of angst down to both keeping secrets from the other and what’s not to love. Brooklyn was a fantastic heroine who didn’t care about Macon’s wealth or connections. She had plans for her future and just had to get through the next couple of months without any distractions and Macon definitely fell under that description and Macon was surprisingly sweet in the lengths he went to to win her heart.

Narration for The Playboy was provided by Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood. The overall flow was strong and steady as they brought the characters of Macon and Brooklyn to life and together their performances made this audiobook a fantastic listening experience.

Performed in DUAL by Savannah Peachwood & Tor Thom

• Opposites Attract • Billionaire • Cinderella Vibes • No One but Her • Reformed Playboy • Soft Pleasure Dom vibes •

I’m really digging these Marni Mann books with mature adults! Sure the MCs still make mistakes or not divulge the whole truth all at once, but they take accountability when the truth comes out, they apologize, and they work it out like adults instead of abandoning the relationship. I love it!

Macon is the heir to the world renowned Spade Hotel & Resort enterprise. He’s in Hawaii to oversee the construction of his company’s newest resort. He’s sworn off love (but not women) after heartbreak in college but the first time he sees Brooklyn in a dance club, he can’t stay away from her. And her giving him the cold shoulder and acting indifferent, flipping his own script on him, drives him even more wild for her.

Brooklyn is a struggling college student living in a tiny studio apartment with her two older sisters and working shift work to make ends meet. She doesn’t have time for a relationship, but Macon promises her one night she’ll never forget. One night turns into a game of chase and she suddenly finds herself thrust into the life of the top 1%, all while trying to stay true to herself and her own merit.

I liked both characters a lot! Macon has quite the dirty mouth and can read Brooklyn like an open book. Brooklyn is a harder worker than most, very intelligent, and at 22, she lands her dream job!

I absolutely loved Savannah Peachwood as Brooklyn. Tor Thom did a great job as well, but his ultra deep voice often made me forget Macon is only 27.

Tor Thom and Savannah Peach Wood malt rod fun book even better. Their special touches of voice, bring this fun story to life. Brooklyn had her rules and a very distinct path for success. Macon has his life plan that never involved love, lust maybe but never love. They were too each other what they weren't expecting and weren't looking for. Together they find a way to a once in a lifetime love.

First I would like to thank Dreamscape Media and the author for providing advanced copies of the audiobook/book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Macon, self proclaimed playboy and part of the Spade family, who is in Hawaii to open the newest Spade hotel. While at a club for a bachelor party Macon spots a woman dancing alone and is inexplicably drawn to her. When he approaches her he realizes he has met his match as the woman is not impressed by him and for the first time he has to work for it. After their first encounter, the woman refuses to exchange contact information and Macon is on a mission to find her and convince her to give them a try.

What I loved:
- Interconnected series, this is the first book in the Spade Hotel series but Macon also played a role in The Bachelor (last of the Dalton Family series) so its fun to have that easy connection between series
- Brooklyn, she is a smart independent woman who knows her worth and doesn’t fall for Macon’s BS. I love that she is smart and has great ideas to improve the hotel she is working at but sad she is ashamed of her role at the hotel
- Dual POV, with the two characters not knowing each others names for a good amount of time it was great to have the Dual POV and see what they were thinking about each other during that time and even after they commit to a relationship
- Spicy, this book does not shy away from spice and I was here for it. There is no lack of it throughout the story and the audiobook narrators did a pretty good job with embodying the scenes
- Audiobook quality, as always Dreamscape Media has done an amazing job with the quality of the audiobook there is no drop in quality if you go to a higher speed and its an easy listen
- The Guys, Macon has a large group of guys who he can rely on for personal and professional advice and I LOVE how much crap they give him when he finally meets his match in Brooklyn

To say I really enjoyed this book would be an understatement. As I was lucky enough to have the audiobook and the digital ARC, I was that person that as soon as I got out of my car I would get my kindle find where I stopped and kept reading. This is a great alpha billionaire strangers to lovers romance book with lots of spice, relationship building and overall craziness I look forward to in a billionaire book. I cannot wait for the rest of this series cause if this is how it starts I’m sure the other Spades will have great stories to tell.

Brooklyn and Macon are much a fun intro into this new extension of the Marni Mann world revolving around Spade Hotels. I went into this looking forward to all of the cameos from the Dalton series and I was not disappointed. I loved seeing everyone again in their happiness.
Macon is the ultimate playboy and is so turned off by his friends’ being tied down to their women. He’s making fun of all of them within the first chapter and watching him choke on those words by the end was just so good. He falls for Brooklyn HARD, even before he knew her name he was a goner for her.
Brooklyn is an awesome FMC - she’s strong and independent but she’s struggling to juggle it all. She’s at the club to lose herself and clear her mind. But losing herself in Macon wasn’t the plan.
These two do have to work through some hard stuff when they finally start telling the truth to each other, and watching how far they’ve come since they first met was heartwarming.
As always, the spice in this book did. Not. Miss. Macon is everything I’ve come to expect from one of Marni’s men - he has a dirty mouth but has such tender moments with Brooklyn when he’s realizing his fallen hard for her that make your heart sing.
I listened to this on audio and the narrators did a superior job bringing Macon and Brooklyn to life.
I cannot wait to see what Marni has in store for us in the Rebel!!

Listening to this while driving home for the holidays had me blushing, because this book is spicy! There is something about the billionaire MMC lately that has me swooning so hard of all the adorable things they do for the women they love, spoil them like the queens they are and deserve to be! Not only is Macon getting added to the book boyfriend list but Tor Thom did that damn thing with narration!

This book gave off slight maid in Manhattan vibes with Brooklyn working as a maid at a hotel as she is working to finish her college degree. Starting as a one night stand after he sees her across a club dancing by herself, Macon falls hard and doesn’t stop at anything to get the girl and help her achieve her dreams! I love them talking business together, it’s such a turn on when people are gushing about things they are passionate about! Don’t even get me started on how steamy this was, that shower scene!

The Playboy is the first steamy romance in Marni Mann’s newest Spade Hotel series. Macon Spade is a billionaire and heir to the Spade Hotel chain and a giant playboy, but when he meets Brooklyn all of that is about to change. Brooklyn is going to school and working as a maid at Spade Hotels rival in order to make ends meet. When the two meet the sparks fly immediately and they are both left questioning what they really want. Will the sparks win out or will their backstories stand in their way?

I was first introduced to Marni Mann’s writing in The Dalton Family series and I absolutely loved it. When I saw a new series coming out with Macon’s full story, I was excited. This book didn’t disappoint! I loved getting to see Macon and Brooklyn’s story unfold and look forward to seeing what comes next for this series. If you are looking for a good, steamy romance give this a shot!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an audiobook version of the book!

Hotel chain heir Macon made a personal pact seven years ago to be a lifelong single playboy after a broken heart.

College student Brooklyn is focused on graduating with top grades while working a full-time job. She has very little time for herself, and she’s certainly not going to let a man distract her from achieving her goals.

It was supposed to be one night only. No names. But neither of them wants to stop at just one night.

Narrators Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom made The Playboy such a wonderful listening experience. Both narrators give us the undeniable (and totally hot) chemistry between Macon and Brooklyn from the moment they first meet.

Peachwood voices sassy, determined Brooklyn perfectly and conveys her strong desire for a better life that she’s earned. Thom’s deep voice works well for the gruff, cocky, self-assured Macon who falls fast and hard for Brooklyn. Thom also expresses both Macon’s vulnerability as Macon battles his seemingly one-sided feelings for the aloof Brooklyn and Macon’s resoluteness to accept nothing less than getting his girl.

If you are looking for a steamy, fast-paced, relatively low angst story (no third act breakup!) involving a guy obsessed with his girl, then you will enjoy The Playboy.

This book is the first in the new Spade Hotel series of five interrelated standalones. I can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for an early listening copy of this book.
