Talk about a dark and twisted domestic thriller. What did I just read? This is definitely a family that is on a whole different level of bizarre and twisted. I enjoyed the book itself and it was definitely not what I expected. But in a good way!

I would classify this as a horror/thriller . Unfortunately for me I felt like this was more of a YA book. Its not a genre I gravitate towards , so it affected my rating. I struggled to connect to the characters . The ending was the best part of the whole book.

My first time reading a Faith Gardner book. I went into this blind after seeing Noelle W. Ihli recommend it, and knowing the author’s name from rave reviews of Amen Maxine.

The Hunter family consists of dad Carson, an author researching a local true crime book, mom Angela, a child psychologist, and teenagers Ezra and Eliza. Eliza befriends troubled teen Olivia. Olivia's planning a murder and the Hunters don’t know that they’re about to get dragged into the ensuing chaos.

Wow! I had no idea where this was going, and the happy family drama quickly develops into a very tense, twisted and unpredictable ‘will they get away with it?’ thriller with added psychosis.

I loved it, the changing family dynamic, the tight and unpredictable plotting and the dark humour. Tense, completely unexpected and very twisted.

Highly recommended.

This was such a dark and quirky story! I'm not sure if it's being marketed as YA but it qualifies in my opinion. It covers the horror and thriller genres as an EXTREMELY dysfunctional family makes one bad decision after another.

"...secrets can sew two hearts together" really sums up the book!

Despite loving Faith Gardner's Jolvix novels, this one wasn't for me. I reluctanly finished the book but didn't really care for it. More in the Jolvix series please!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

I really enjoyed They Are The Hunters. It was a thoroughly entertaining dark and emotional family drama.

I loved the intriguingly dark characters, especially Olivia and Eliza. I hope to read more books involving these two. 🤞
It was very well written. I was hooked straight away and I couldn't put it down.
This is the first book I've read from Faith Gardner, but it definitely won't be the last. After this, I'm off to look up her back catalogue.

I highly recommend.

5 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

They are the Hunters was a solid mystery/thriller and was entertained throughout the book. The book had some good twists and turns but it didn't fully stand out to me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC.

This book is a fave of mine so far this year! I couldn't stop reading and the twists were insane! What a book full of family drama and revenge. There are multiple POVs, and they were all easy to follow. These people are CRAZY, and following them made for a great story. It has a tense, suspenseful and gripping plot, as well as humor points that literally had me laughing out loud. This story was fast paced and kept me entertained even in the moments that weren't action packed. This was my first book by Faith Gardner, and I'm a new fan!

I really enjoyed this concept, I thought this was a unique concept and that everyone has their own secrets. It had me on the edge of my seat and I enjoyed how good everything worked with the genre. Faith Gardner writes a great story overall and the characters were really uniquely written. I enjoyed how good everything worked in this book and it left me wanting to read more from Faith Gardner.

OMG this book was quite the ride! There are so many completely twisted surprises throughout the story, which made it hard to put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development, and the ending had me speechless. I absolutely loved this one and definitely recommend it!!

This book is highly disturbing. Didn't stop me from reading the whole thing in one sitting though - I was utterly enthralled by the disconcerting and twisty thriller! Definitely one for anybody fascinated by murder and what it does to the perpetrators...

The Hunter family seemed to have it all. When Olivia West moved to Riverwood and befriend Eliza Hunter, her parents happily accepted her as an honorary member of the family. Little did they know, Olivia was plotting a murder and they were all going to be involved, whether they liked it or not. But, Olivia didn’t realize the kind of family she was messing with. The Hunters had killed before, and would do it again to protect the life they’d built.

They Are the Hunters was an incredible dark, twisted page-turner! It had such a unique premise and I was hooked right from the start. The twists were plentiful and delivered maximum shock value. The only real criticism I have is that three out of five characters were teenagers, which made this feel a bit like a Young Adult thriller. I would
highly recommend reading this one!

I loved this one. Dark and foreboding, this is a story of a really messed up family. I love the dynamics of watching this family interact and dealing with Olivia. I definitely want to read more by Gardner.

What a fun, crazy ride. A book I didn’t want to put down.

After sifting through all the accounts of family dysfunction, acts of revenge, dangerous car rides, and scattered body parts; I thought to myself “hey, my upbringing may have been boring, but at least it was normal!”

I have read and enjoyed three books from the Jolvix series by this author. Here, she replaces robots with psychopaths. :) :)

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

3.5 stars, rounded up

Book got better as it went along, totally different from her Jolvix books but still intriguing with an exciting ending. Skews a bit towards YA, so if that genre isn't your thing this one probably won't be either. And it's really dark. Twistedly dark.

Told via multiple narrators, we have the Hunter family: Psychiatrist Angela, wannabe true crime writer Cameron, and their two children, Eliza and Ezra. Eliza is best friends with new girl Olivia. The Hunters appear to have it all together with their picture perfect life, and Olivia wants nothing more than to escape her awful life and join theirs. But is it really that perfect? And is Olivia what she seems on the surface?

This book started off slowly and then picked up momentum until the absolutely shocking ending. You know something surprising is going to happen after the prologue, but how it all unfolds is part of the fun. There's some humor scattered throughout and there are quite a number of jaw dropping moments. If you're looking for dark, quirky, and unpredictable, this is definitely one to pick up.

DNF @ 20%

Unfortunately I don't think this one is for me. 20% in and I'm not feeling a massive interest in where this is going and I'm not fussed about any of the main characters.

Such a fun quirky read about a very deranged family! From the outside the Hunters are your typical family of four but they have a new secret at every corner and aren’t what they seem! Olivia befriends Eliza Hunter and desperately wants to be included in all the family doings until Olivia reveals a little of her darker side and Eliza ends the friendship. That doesn’t stop Olivia from dating Ezra the brother and they fall hard for each other, how far will Ezra go for Olivia? Plus the parents have just as many secrets!! Wild ride!!

Excellent character development and each have likeable and unlikeable traits, kept me wanting to read for sure!! My first by the author and definitely won’t be my last!!

This was overall a good thriller and certainly kept me on my toes. It was a bit disturbing at times and I was more than a little creeped out by some of the actions by one of the main characters.

They Are the Hunters was my first book by Faith Gardner. It will not be my last. Especially if we can continue this story where it left off. The Hunters are the perfect family. They are rich. They are well respected. They are liars. Really, only one has any redeeming qualities at all. Their downfall is almost satisfying. When a teenager works her way onto their lives, it doesn’t sit well with only one of them. The ending left me wanting more.
