I read this book with my children.

This book has some amazing origami projects to do, some very basic, with minimal steps, and some more complex.

We have only done a few of the more simple projects so far, but the intructions and pictures are clear and easy to follow.

I also love all of the origami paper in the back of this book!

I love how there's a storyline going on. Backstory and just so many beautiful and colourful illustrations throughout the book. I'm definitely going to try to make some of the origamis in the book. This would be such a wonderful gift for someone who's interested in origamis.

So excited to try these! Hopefully I can get them and they won’t be as hard as they look. But I can’t wait to learn to put some of these to use and makes form of these!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

I don't know much about origami but this book certainly made me want to learn more about it. If you have a daughter who is interested in origami as a hobby, I highly recommend this book. It was very straightforward and thorough and I can see this keeping a young girl entertained for hours!

What a fantastic and original origami book. Being a complete beginner, I didn’t really know what to expect. This book covers all the basics of paper folding and walks you through progressively harder paper shapes as you work your way through the book. Each paper craft has very clear instructions to help guide you through, step by step. Each one also has lots of accompanying diagrams of each stage, so you know exactly what you’re aiming for. I absolutely love the fashion dress! And the mouse is super cute.

Thank you to the publisher, and to Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

Overall, I found it to be a nice little book well-suited for children interested in origami/The Paper Girls Show. I would recommend, although..

The negatives
1. If one is not a fan of the Paper Girls Show, app. 20% of the content could be cut out and the book would improve significantly. Now, this book is specifically "The Paper Girls Show" book on origami and it only makes sense that it is specifically targeted to their viewership. But it also excludes non-viewers from truly engaging in the book, as they can feel a distinct disconnect with the way the origami techniques are presented.
2. The illustrations on the instruction pages were surpringsingly boring for a children's book. They felt very simply and not like a lot of work had been put into them.
3. I found the constant QR-codes to various episodes of the Paper Girls Show incredibly obnoxious. It felt cheap and like I was being marketized to while engaging in the book. One simple QR code towards the end or at the very beginning would be sufficient, if the reader wanted to learn more about the show.

The positives
1. The small illustrations with the various characters from the show were entertaining - altough a bit word-heavy at times
2. Loved the inclusion of the colorful papers towards the end that the child can use for their origiami practices as well as all the stickers. It makes the book 100p more engaging, as they (or rather their parents) don't have to invest in origami paper aside from buying the book and the child will quickly understand, whether origami is actually something they are interested in pursuing further.

This was a big success with my 6 year old daughter. I wanted to find a type of project that she could learn to complete on her own without help and that would be motivating enough for her to keep on trying new ones. This was a win on both fronts. The characters of the "Paper Girls" made these projects attractive to her and she has initiated trying a project from the book every day for several days. She does need a little help from me with the folds, but we do the same project over and over and then she becomes more independent with it (and hopefully gains skills to make future projects easier for her). I do have to say that the book on its own wouldn't have worked for us as it's hard to follow written directions on origami . But, there are corresponding videos to the projects on the Paper Girls website that we use which were the perfect compliment. The book itself is great for the enthusiasm it generates and all the fun paper in the back.

Great book for kids or origami fans of every age. Easy to follow and well illustrated. Some typical designs and a few unique ones.

Review to come June 2 on my blog/other places.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I have never heard of the Paper Girls Show, but I do love origami, so here we are! I just had to see if there were some fun new origami to try out!

Before we start the book we get an introduction in the show (or well, ish) and then the main characters, Reese and Caily + side-characters! I just love how everyone looked in both styles. One more animated, the other more paper which is just perfect for a book about origami. After that an introduction on basic folds and special techniques, which I always appreciate is added. I don't origami daily so it is good to get a refresher course on it.

After that it is project time! I loved that each project came with an introduction/inspiration + a small story from the show and a QR code to the episode the characters made something similar. That definitely gave it something extra over just doing project after project. I haven't checked out the show, but if I may do so one day. My favourite projects are: the butterfly, the planets, the crown, the robot. I would have liked to see some harder things. A lot of these projects I have seen in other origami books and I would have just liked to see some more originality especially given that there is a whole show about paper and crafts. I am still happy with the projects, but yeah, give me more!

The instructions to the origami were easily followable with good pictures on how to make the folds.

I do like that there are 200-ish pages with just origami paper... however, I am reading this as an ebook and for me it is just useless. It is perfect if you get this book as a physical. But I am not going to print out these papers, a bit too expensive haha.

All in all, I am very happy with this book and I loved that it is centred around a show. I would recommend this for fans of the show or fans of origami!

Starting off with the fact that I am not the target audience for this book (a childless adult who has never seen The Paper Girls - though who is a child at heart and who loves origami!), I thought it was a lot of fun!

There was a good mix of projects, and quite a few that I've never seen before, which is nice! I liked how many of them tied into the show, and even included QR codes with a link to the episode clips that are relevant. There was also a good smattering of classic origami as well, including the paper crane and jumping frog (always a fave). The intros to each project were engaging for kids and included some fun facts, which was cool.

There are a few projects where you really need to look at the images and possibly have a basic understanding of origami to follow, as some of the folds are kind of hard to describe in words (looking at you squash folds). So some younger kiddos might need an adult's help on those.

While I reviewed an e-copy of this book, it looked like there were a lot of paper sheets in the back of the book with a good variety of colors and patterns. Some looked to be double sided, too, which is nice. It also looked like there were a couple sticker sheets with eyes and mouths and such that you can use to decorate your finished origami, which was a good touch!

This book was a lot of fun. It’s very colorful and eye catching for younger readers. Not only does it contain the patterns and instructions for origami crafts but it includes little characters to keep things lovely and fun. The projects start very easy and get more challenging as you go. This is a great book for kids to start off on an origami journey.
I received a copy for review purposes and it was a pleasure to read.

Our family is currently stuck without power (thanks ice storm!) and we’re camped at my mother in laws without things to do. So, this book has definitely come in handy. I love the introduction, and had no idea it was a show, so you best believe we will be watching it as soon as power is back! The origami ideas were unique and fun to try. I had a hard time with the instructions (I’ll blame stress and not my intelligence, hah!) but my oldest daughter who is 13 had a great time! Thank you NetGalley for a chance to have some fun.

This is a great origami book and I will definitely be teaching some of these to my kids at the library.

As someone who has several origami books already I wasn't expecting anything new but I was pleasantly surprised. This book has cute cartoon characters explaining each project, clear instructions (the color coded folds showing the two sides of the page made the process easy to follow), new and interesting origami creations that I have not seen before that I think kids will really enjoy. Personally I loved the ghost, the music note, and the little robot. Paper selections at the end are also really nice and I appreciate the beautiful more modern patterns. I really appreciate how this book catered to kid's interests in a way that will encourage them to create and imagine. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this ARC for me to review.

I think that the directions are detailed and there are some really cool origami designs that you can create. I do not like how the pages are broken up and the fact that you cannot zoom in, which maybe just a formatting issue. I think the paper designs at the back are pretty, but unless you can print it out that would be a waste in a digital book. In my opinion this book would be better purchased as a physical book than a digital book.

This book was loved by both children and adults! My children and I enjoyed going through the projects and giggled at our attempts. While some of the projects were complicated, I found the instructions clear and easy to follow.

Some bonus points: My kids loved the adorable characters and linked episodes. Mom loved the introduction excerpts before each of the projects. I found them fun to read, informative, and a great set-up to get children engaged with the project that followed!

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book as an ARC.

All while being cute and entertaining, this book is a great tool to get a child interested in origami! I know many origami tutorials are way too complex for those little and impatient hands, but this one somehow seems to be at the perfect balance of “learn something new” and “really simple”. Also, on a side note, I believe this book is great not just for kids, it will work really well for adults also.
