"It's so far over, you couldn't pay me to get back together with you!"

Name Your Price by Holly James is a chemistry-filled, laugh-out-loud romcom that will keep you wanting more! What happens when you get in an explosive fight with your B-list, semi-famous, hot, movie-star boyfriend in the street out front of his house, where you literally tell him that no matter what the price, you would never ever ever get back together with him? Well, of course a stranger would be taking a video that would go viral quickly - and end up in the hands of a Reality Show: Name Your Price. Olivia Martin is the daughter of two famous Hollywood stars (an agent and an actress) that passed in an acident when she was one. Olivia now pays for her Grandma Ruby's care (who raised her) and has fallen behind on the bills. Chuck is living beyond his means, striving to be the biggest movie star Hollywood has ever seen - i.e. he wants the attention, the spotlight, AND needs money to keep his look spot on. When Name Your Price offers them One Million Dollars each to live in the same home for a month, all on camera, it's an offer neither are in the position to turn down. But can their combustible relationship, with a very public breakup, handle everything that the Show will have in store for them? How hard could it be for that much money, I mean: "All she had to do was live in a house with her ex for a month and not kill him."

I absolutely adore Holly James. She is a breakout new female author that has a long, exciting career in front of her. Her novels literally hit every single checkmark and I highly recommend that if you like this novel - go read her other two out, now!

Chuck and Olivia were the perfect characters and really brought this novel to life. The forced proximity trope is spot on, and some of the curveballs the Show throws at them are hysterical - I would watch that show! Chuck and Olivia are opposites in every sense of the word and their tension is palpable, and James perfectly creates witty back-and-forth dialogue making you fall in love with her and ALL of her characters (best friends and Grandmothers alike).

My only downsides were how quick Olivia was to jump to conclusions, especially after all she has been through, and the fact that I knew something had to happen when I was at about 60% (or more) done with the book and they were only at week one living in the house together. However, the ending tied everything nicely in a bow for me, which I'm very appreciative of!

This novel is an easy, fun way to escape in a feel-good, happily-ever-after that will leave you with a smile on your face. You will laugh, you will roll your eyes, you will wonder how all of that sexual chemistry didn't burst off the page! James has made a fan out of me. This is a MUST BUY on July 30, 2024! 4.5 stars - you hope that you know what you are getting, and James delivers perfectly (there is no slow-burn about this book)!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for this arc; all opinions are my own!

"Love is always worth fighting for."

After their raging breakup goes viral, a struggling actor and a journalist (who also happens to be product of a scandalous Hollywood couple) agree to go on a reality show in which they try to live together for $1 million.

What I liked:
- A fun twist on the celebrity second chance romance/enemies to lovers trope
- I wasn’t sure I was going to believe these two could happily be together, but I was won over
- Serious chemistry between the leads
- The backstory around Olivia’s parents (her dad was married to someone not her mom, and then they were killed in a car crash when Olivia was a baby) ends up playing an interesting role both in Olivia’s own choices and how the story unfolds, and while some of it’s expected, in other ways, I was surprised and moved.

What I didn’t like:
- The horribly manipulative producer trope was dialed up to 11 here. In this case, in ways that were beyond ok for ratings
- Chuck is unable to share what really happened that got him fired. NDAs are a bummer. But he could have figured out how to get the truth to Olivia before it totally blew up in his face, instead of making me want to throttle him.
- I missed the touch of magic that’s been part of Holly James’ previous books!

Forced proximity, ROM-COM, Second Chance Romance; all the genres I love to read in one! The beginning of the book really hooked me and had my attention. The middle fell a little flat for me. The sexual tension was spot on and the writing style was great. I think the ending wrapped up everything nicely.
I am glad I read it and would recommend to my fellow romance lovers.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was such an entertaining book. I was hooked from the very start. The romance between the main characters Olivia and Chuck ended up being super sweet. They had so many cute moments. The premise of them being locked in a house together for a reality show was different than anything else I’ve read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

This was so much fun to read. I know that there are plenty of books about reality TV shows, but this is now probably one of my favorites. The chemistry between Olivia and Chuck was fantastic. But so was their explosive arguments. I fight a lot like Olivia. Oliva is a great character. Born to famous parents, but lost them early on, Olivia has always felt alone. Her birth alone is a scandal and she has tried to stay out of the spot light. Chuck on the other hand was born for the spotlight and he eats it up. But he was fired from his job and he won’t say why.

Chuck tries to get Olivia to see they are perfect together, but Olivia wants to protect her heart. The forced proximity in this book worked well for their relationship because it caused them to talk. They know each other really well, but there are always more things to learn.

There are plenty of funny moments in this book as well. And fantastic side characters. Grandma Ruby is one for the books! She’s so sweet and wise. Manse is also great. The TV show people are just eh and cross lines, but I guess that happens.

I think any rom-com reader will love this book.

You’d think that after a very explosive - and public - breakup you’d never want to see that ex ever again. And you’d be right. Except you said on camera you’d never get back with them for a million dollars and a reality TV company is taking you up on that bet. The catch? You can’t leave the house and you’d being put in situations that force you to do the normal couple stuff, the stuff that makes you remember how when it was good it was *real* good. But you can’t do anything about it, since any physical contact can cost you a portion of your million dollars.

I’ll be honest, at the start of the book when our girl is talking about the bad parts of her ex I was A-OK with them never getting back together. He was irresponsible with money and couldn’t seem to clean up after himself. Nightmare fuel for me. But they both put in the work over the course of this book to better themselves so they could better their relationship. The relationship may have been a motivating factor, but they both weren’t just changing for the sake of it or to put on a show for the cameras.

The reality TV host was a nightmare character, and perfect for his role. His increasingly probing and inappropriate topics were for sensationalization when the episode would air, but also drove both of the characters together until one day it finally drove them apart. It caused them - and us the reader - to think about how what we see in the tabloids isn’t always a full picture of whats really going on in Hollywood in one of the more authentic ways I’ve seen attempted. I do think the resolution with the NDA runaround was a little convenient, but necessary given the length of the book.

I could’ve done without the epilogue. I didn’t feel like it added anything extra to the story, didn’t allow for the reader to guess at how things go and make up their own final destination for the characters. No matter what, in a matter of 2 years they go from broke AF to rich AF due to a movie or two and a memoir. Sure it happens to some people, but it didn’t feel authentic to where they needed to be able to be from a relationship standpoint.

5 stars. Marrying zany reality TV hijinks and a romance with both simmering sexual tension and an unexpected amount of depth, Name Your Price was a near-perfect adult romcom that took me by surprise.

Oh was this a FUN one!

Y'all know I LOVE romances where the chemistry jumps off the page - and boy did this one have that! When Olivia and Chuck are good they are golden but when they are fighting... hoooo boy is it brutal. A particularly epic breakup fight gets filmed and goes viral. Chuck is an up and coming actor, and Olivia's parents were infamous because of a cheating scandal. Shortly after their viral moment they are recruited to be on a reality show - they can win a million dollars (!!!!) if they can survive living together for a month.

What follows is both hilarious and also very sweet. Olivia and Chuck are nuanced characters, and author Holly James does an excellent job in developing them. The reality show is a unique storytelling device - it allowed for both lots of hijinks and tender moments.

I don';t know about y'all, but I have just been craving books that will be a bit of an escape from *waves around wildly* everything. And this was just that. I really enjoyed The Deja Glitch by Holly James, so I was thrilled to get an advanced copy of her latest, Name Your Price - and this one delivered! Big thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for gifting me this ARC - just the book I needed this week!

Name Your Price is out on TUESDAY - preorder/request it from your libraries now!!!

Olivia and Chuck Walsh have undeniable chemistry, but their very public break-up has them thrown into the spotlight. A failing game show, Name Your Price, embarks on the opportunity after hearing Olivia claim that she "wouldn't be with Chuck for even a million dollars". This book follows the couple as they compete, living in the same house for a month. Can they survive a month without giving into their chemistry, or will they forfeit a million dollars?

I had the best time reading this book, it had my attention from the very beginning and I could not put it down. While it was funny and romantic, it also touched on some hard topics such as the loss of one's parents. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read one of my most anticipated reads.

Thank you Netgalley, Holly James and Penguin Group Dutton for the ebook! This was a quick and fun romcom with laughs, tears, and some spice sprinkled in. Would you stay in a house with your ex for a million dollars?? Must read!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC. Unfortunately, I decided to DNF this at 43%. The bickering between the characters felt very redundant, and I honestly couldn’t sense the chemistry between them that the synopsis stated they had.

Although I’ve enjoyed other James novels in the past, this one wasn’t for me. I found the writing and story average, the characters lackluster, and the toxic to perfect love story forced.

This book was entirely satisfying to read. ENTIRELY!!! I complain, a lot, about the endings of books not being given enough time, not actually wrapping things up nicely, and being very rushed. This book's ending was superb. For that reason alone, you should read it.

Olivia and Chuck as the main characters are hilarious, and SO messed up. I loved every bit of their story!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you’re a sucker for rom-coms and reality television shows, Name Your Price is a perfect mix. I’m usually not someone who rates romance books 5 stars, but I quickly knew I was going to enjoy the story of Chuck and Oliva. In a lot of romance books, major plot points or character conversations are redundant and drag out the story longer than it needs to be. I did not feel bored once while reading this. Holly James does a great job of balancing the plot out with moments from the TV show, serious conversations with characters, and the characters facing their own personal realities.

It is the year of reality show romances and I am not mad about it!

Olivia and Chuck were the perfect mix of romantic and toxic, I ate it up! I loved watching them work out their their issues and have such beautifully tender moments. While reading this, I felt like I was watching a movie play out and it was the time of my life.

I absolutely recommend this to all reality tv show lovers, the girlies who love a little healthy toxicity in their romances, and just overall all romance lovers!

This was a decent, middle of the road, romcom.

After a tumultuous breakup video of them goes viral, suffering actor Chuck and down on her luck Olivia, are approached with an offer that seems too good to refuse. The must live in the same house for a month without touching or leaving the house and they each win $1 million dollars. While they may be broken up, the two may be forced to work together in other ways in order to secure the money.

Right off the bat, this wasn't my favorite book. We see that Chuck and Olivia's relationship is incredibly toxic. They have zero idea how to communicate with each other and basically only have a physical relationship. Olivia is guilted into doing the reality show in order to pay for the nursing home that her grandmother is in.
I feel like there wasn't a ton of scenes about the actual show (which was supposed to be the whole premise), so I wish there was more of that.
Olivia acted like a brat during the entire duration of the book, making her incredibly unlikable. Even when Chuck asks for her trust, she refuses to believe him.
The ending felt incredibly rushed and didn't allow for me to believe in the character growth as much as I would like.

On the positive, the reality show setting is one of my favorites, so I enjoyed that aspect of the book!

🎥 Name Your Price by Holly James 🎥

Writer Liv and up and coming actor Chuck have explosive chemistry that often ends in explosive fights. When one fight turns into a breakup that accidentally goes viral, Liv and Chuck are offered an episode of reality show Name Your Price. If they can survive a month in a house together, they can earn a million dollars. The catch is that they can’t touch at all, and if they do money will be deducted from their prize.

Name Your Price is a super fun Hollywood romance that is packed with chemistry between the two main characters. The forced proximity of the reality show provided a perfect set up for Liv and Chuck to really work through their communication challenges and realize that their feelings for each other were deep and real, but they needed to actually talk to each other to make it work.

I loved the way both of their individual arcs played out as well as their romance together. It was great to see growth for both characters, and I love any time a romance mentions that therapy has helped get the couple into their happily ever after!

I recommend this one, especially if you enjoy:

🚫 no touching
🛌 only one bed
🍿 Hollywood intrigue

4.5 stars.

Name Your Price by Holly James is an absolutely delightful romance.

Olivia Martin and Chuck Walsh are stuck in a somewhat toxic cycle of fighting and making up. They have a combustible chemistry and they fight as passionately as they make love. Olivia is finally done but their break up is caught on tape and goes viral. When a reality show offers them the chance to make some very needed money to star in the show, both Olivia and Chuck agree and find themselves whisked off within just days of signing the contract.

Olivia is scarred by the scandal surrounding her parents who died while she was still a baby. Raised by her beloved grandma Ruby, Olivia ordinarily remains out of the limelight. Dismayed to be on camera for the month, she is even more troubled by the questions asked by the show’s host.

Chuck is movie star gorgeous and he is frustrated that his auditions do not end with roles. He has a wonderful family who are thrilled by his successes. Chuck is at ease in front of the camera but spending so much time with Olivia? Well, he constantly fights his simmering attraction to her while trying to adhere to the conditions imposed by the show’s smarmy host.

Name Your Price is a marvelous romance with a cute premise. Olivia and Chuck are fabulous characters that are flawed yet very likable. The attraction between them is smoking hot and the sexual tension ratchets up to a fever pitch. The reality show set up will appeal to readers whether or not they watch reality shows. Holly James brings this charming romance to a heartwarming conclusion.

When Olivia and Chuck's explosive break-up goes viral, it catches the interest of the producers of a reality TV show. The producers offer Chuck and Olivia one million dollars if they can live together in a house for one month. Both Chuck and Olivia need the money, but they know that sharing a space for one month will not be easy.

I enjoyed the premise of the book. Olivia and Chuck have great chemistry, and their banter is top-notch. The central conflict and the fights stemmed from their lack of communication, which is not my favorite trope in romance, but I enjoyed the forced proximity setting. Name Your Price is a solid rom-com, and I recommend it to romance readers who enjoy the listed tropes.

Olivia and Chuck are a potent match from the moment they meet. He is a rising Hollywood star. She is the daughter of two Hollywood icons, born from a scandalous affair. Olivia tries to live a quiet life, making a living as a journalist and not in the spotlight. She meets Chuck for an interview, and immediately the fuse is lit. Her ideas of a quiet life comes to a screeching halt when an epic breakup between her and Chuck is caught on camera and goes viral.

A well known reality tv producer for a show called Name Your Price reaches out to them to ask them to take on a challenge. What is the challenge? They have to live together for 30 days, in a home with one bedroom and one bathroom. There are two main rules: they cannot walk out of the front door, and they cannot physically touch in any way. Easy since they hate each other, right? Both really needed the prize money of a million dollars, they dive in head first. As they try to fight the emotions being brought up by a jerk of a host, they must decide how they can work together but stay apart.

Chuck is full of golden retriever energy, and Olivia is a force of nature determined to keep herself protected. There are many layers to each character. For a Hollywood stud. not everything can be believed about Chuck. And the past Olivia thought she came from might be different than she could have ever imagined. This is a fun twist on shows like Too Hot to Handle and Love Island. There is great steam, tender moments, and lots of great banter. Really enjoyed this "star studded Hollywood romcom".
