I want to extend my gratitude to @NetGalley and @Dutton Books for providing me with the opportunity to read an ARC of Name Your Price by Holly James. Although this was my first experience with James's writing, it certainly won't be my last. Name Your Price was an absolute delight - the connection between the characters was electric! Rather than a slow burn, it was more like a constant simmer that had me hooked. Both characters were endearing, their growth throughout the story was well-crafted, and the Hollywood/reality aspect added an extra layer of fun. This book had me laughing out loud while also tugging at my heartstrings - a perfect balance in my opinion.

I Loved the first Holly james book I read but this one just was not for me! I think the pacing of the book did not really agree with me and I did not feel connected to the characters.
I would still like to read more of James's books and would recommend if anyone needed a light fun read!

First of all the premise for this is top notch. Two exes forced to live together for a month for a million dollars as part of a game show? This is romantic comedy gold and I think a lot of people will love this one because of that. I personally did not care for either main character and because of that I had a hard time rooting for them. But I think this has all of the ingredients for a book lots of people will really enjoy.
Thank you NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the ARC.

This is a fun premise and and enjoyable read. The reality tv concept made it interesting and fun. There were a lot of laughs and this would make a great beach read.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for advanced copy, and I give my review freely

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an Ebook ARC of this story, this is my objective review. Our couple is Olivia (reporter) and Chuck (actor), who at the beginning of the story have had a passionate and short-lived romantic relationship. Physically they're irresistible to one another but emotionally they're volatile. After their loud public break-up goes viral, they agree to appear on a reality show together. For a million dollars they'll have to live in a house together for one month without touching each other. How hard could it be? Turns out it's pretty darn difficult, especially with unresolved personal issues and history getting in the way. I have to say, this book is a nice change of pace from the typical romance story that starts at the beginning of the story. In a book like this we get to see where things went wrong, and if the couple cares about one another to do the work to make things right. I'm such a sucker for a redemption story. There was a lot of emphasis on Olivia's self-growth too, which worked here even though it's a romance. It's a single 3rd person POV from Olivia's standpoint, I would have liked to see more of Chuck's POV and more focus on him fixing his issues alongside with Olivia fixing hers. Olivia and Chuck were portrayed as a couple who favored their physical connection over nurturing their emotional connection, and it was good to see the emotional connection unfold during their time together in the house. It was like forced guerilla couples counseling. There is a nice amount of humor and, because this is a feel-good kind of book, a nice HEA and a resolution that wrapped a lot of loose ends up. This is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed this book enough that I'd read other books by her. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

I made it 18% into this story before I decided it wasn't for me and marked it as a DNF. The two main characters were insufferable and I found myself not caring about what ended up happening to them. Since DNF'ing I haven't thought about this book once. Overall, just not for me! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader. All thoughts are my own.

I always want to start my reviews by thanking the author and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book early. I liked this book, but I didn't find myself reading the book quickly. I think it would be a fine beach read, but I wasn't as drawn as I would've liked.

Name Your Price is a lovers to enemies romcom with some twists and a lot of heart!
Imagine having to live with your ex in a house that you can’t leave for an entire month! If you succeed, you’ll win one million dollars. You would have to consider your super messy breakup and the fact that you’re still attracted to each other. What could go wrong?! This book was super cute and such a fun read! While I did find the relationship between Chuck and Olivia to feel quite superficial and shallow at first, their characters developed and we got to see inside of their heads a bit more. I was very hooked and couldn’t put this down!
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Holly James, and Penguin Group for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review! This will publish on July 30th.
I have posted my review on Goodreads, my Facebook book club, and will make a TikTok to post before the pub date!

The third-act breakup is the trickiest part of a romantic comedy. Building a conflict big enough to end a relationship, but not so big that the couple can't reunite, is a delicate balance - even more so when the breakup comes in the book's first chapter, as it does in Name Your Price, a forced proximity romance about cash-strapped, semi-famous exes who agree to live in the same house for a reality show.
The book's premise was intriguing, offering plenty of opportunities for juicy arguments and spicy interludes. The author did a great job of moving quickly through the story's opening act and getting quickly into reality-show hijinks - but little time was spared for showing any positive (non-sex) interaction between the exes, even in flashback, or any motivation for them to reunite.
The characters began to deepen, and their interaction began to feel more emotionally driven, in the final third of the book. I really liked both characters at this point and really enjoyed watching grow. I finished the book as fast as I started it, and with a smile on my face.
A fun, fast read, heavy on hijinks. 4+ stars.

This was a fun premise for a romance -- being locked in a house for a month with your on-again-off-again partner. I really loved how Olivia and Chuck were working together and overcoming their past patterns, until about 3/4 of the way through the book when I was totally frustrated with her. It did redeem itself shortly there after, making it a worthwhile read. Very Hollywood.

Rating: 500 stars!
Olivia + Chuck... I love you. When Olivia and Chuck have an explosive public break up, they are contacted to be on the "Name Your Price" show. The premise of the show is that people are paid to do things they are afraid of / hate in exchange for money. All Olivia and Chuck have to do for the show? Live together for 1 month while completing small challenges in exchange for A LOT OF MONEY (EACH!). Motivated to continue their currently lifestyle and keep Olivia's grandmother in her care facility, they agree to participate in the show.
I ate this book up in a single sitting! Highly recommend!!
Thank you NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cute, smart, flirty romance novel. Holly James grabbed one from the headlines with her reality show driven theme in this novel.
Olivia doesn’t like the spotlight. Raised by her grandmother after her parents died in an auto accident, Olivia knows that being in the spotlight isn’t always good. After all, she is the love child of a former movie star and Hollywood businessman.
Chuck, her on again/off again boyfriend, is an actor. Living way above his means, for now he’s nothing more than a B list actor, recently fired from a film. He won’t talk about it, and for Olivia that’s one more thing that drives her nuts about him. But not in a good way.
After their latest make-up, once again they fight. This time it ends up on the street where all can see, and apparently do. For next thing you know, they are a viral video. Which leads them to a reality TV show worth a lot of money. But there’s a catch. There’s always a catch, and neither of them knows if they can make it through to the end.
This novel was just so much fun. Relevant and wild. But also has its deep moments of introspection. Liv & Chuck are adorable, and clearly mad for each other, and also mad at one another. Since it’s a romance novel, we all know, or at least hope, how it will turn out. There are going to be quite a few obstacles in the way on this one.
Loved it. Whizzed through it. Recommend it for a fun, refreshing read.

Name Your Price was okay! I liked how James incorporated the game show element to the story. The game show aspect and subsequence forced proximity made this a fun second-chance romance. The opening scene started off super quick with a fight between Olivia and Chuck. The author did too good of a job with that scene because I felt indifferent about the main couple at the beginning. I'm not sure if it was because of the first scene between them, but I didn't feel fully connected to Olivia and Chuck. So much of their relationship at the beginning was based on their physical attraction. By the time we got to learn more about Chuck, I wasn't 100% invested in him and Olivia. I think a Chuck POV chapter would have helped this story. I liked the game show activities and restrictions. They helped me get a better understanding of Olivia and Chuck's character. I thought the couch activity was hilarious. I wish the pacing was a little more consistent throughout the story. Some parts read super-fast while others dragged. Thank you to Dutton for the ARC.

Two combustible personalities, who have recently broken up, have to live in a house together for a month for a million dollars. The premise was intriguing and the story was interesting. I didn’t always like the characters especially in the first half of the book, so at times this didn’t hold my attention. However, the second half was really good and the ending was satisfying.

I was really looking forward to reading this but it just didn’t work for me.
The synopsis of the two characters being in a game show x love island made me super intrigued but the writing and characters (mainly fmc) made this book hard to get through.

What a fun read! I devoured it in a day. The story moved and kept me wanting to read on when I ended a chapter and found myself making time for the next. I appreciated Liv and Chuck having normal character flaws that didn’t make me want to throw my kindle across a room.
What I loved:
🫶🏼 The main character’s tension from day to day on the Reality show grows and grows! It makes you giddy reading.
🫶🏼 From the get go, I was wanting to know more about the couples history leading up to the show. Holly James does a great job weaving the history of Olivia and Chuck’s relationship and giving you treasures of their past.
🫶🏼 who doesn’t love a reality tv and forced proximity trope? Yes, please!
Would have loved more of:
✨the development of Olivia’s past. It felt so abrupt squeezed the end of the book. I would have loved this more unraveled from Liv and Ruby’s together times throughout the story and not just a dump toward the end.
✨I love reality TV and could have used a touch more drama or laugh out loud moments during the reality show days of this story.
✨I enjoyed meeting Astrid and would have loved her introduced earlier in the book and wished for more of an appearance of her before the last chapter.
✨ I would have loved to read Chuck’s full profile! I was hoping for a little peep surprise at the end.
Name Your Price is an enjoyable read— it will make you smile and warm your heart! It was a perfect read for my summer day!
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the opportunity to read this digital ARC copy in exchange for my honest options of this read!

If Love Island and Too Hot To Handle was put into book form, with the catch that there is only one couple, this would be it. I loved the witty banter and the chemistry between Olivia and Chuck. This slow-burn rom was able to settle all of my desires for the perfect summer read. While there were a few parts that were cliche, I truly would not have changed anything about this book. I enjoyed the laughs I was able to get, along with the desire to pop a bowl of popcorn and enjoy this book like I do reality TV. This second-chance romance easily was devoured in one sitting and I think all of those looking for a kicking your feet and giggling rom-com can find your next read right here!

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free e-book ARC of this title in exchange for my review.
This rom-com is heavy on the COM! IT was a joy to read, light and ended far too soon. Anyone looking for a light rom-com read should grab this one first!
4 stars for 'really liked it'

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I enjoyed this slow burn book. This a rom-com I could not put down. I finished it in one sitting.

1 Star
Unfortunately, Name Your Price just did not work for me. I forced my way to 50% and just couldn’t make myself continue— it was borderline physically painful!
I loved the idea of this book! It had a great synopsis, cover and premise but the execution was very lack luster for me. The characters felt very one dimensional and Chuck gave me an instant ick when he was going off about his diet and refusal to try a milkshake. It also always felt like I was missing a big piece of the puzzle and just got dropped right into the thick of things. Maybe this would have worked out if I had read through to the end but I truly couldn’t stick it out.
