I received an ARC from the publisher.
I really liked this book! The characters were well-written and well-rounded. They seemed like real people, which is something that I really appreciate in my rom-coms. I didn't find any loose plot threads by the time it was done, so I felt like this book was given a lot of time and attention by the author and the editors. I really have no complaints.
Chuck is swoon worthy and Olivia has one of the most realistic character progression arcs of any female romance lead in recent memory.
5/5 stars

3 Stars! As much as I really liked this plot, the book itself didn’t grab my attention the way I’d hoped. I felt like the book just went on and on and over explained things so I started skimming through. The books main characters were Olivia and Chuck and I liked both of them, for the most part, but didn’t really get the chemistry between them. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I really do enjoy her work and would read her again. Her plots are original, interesting & the main characters have me rooting for their HEA ending. Worth checking out if you’ve never read her before. That being said, I did feel bored with this book at times and it took me about a week to read when I usually read a book in 2-3 days.
*I received this book at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*

Thank you to Penguin Group Dutton and Holly James for this ARC of Name Your Price. I had a fantastic time reading this book. Olivia and Chuck’s breakup going viral causes them to land on a reality TV show where they cannot touch each other. I think this level of reality tv, mixed with second chance and revenge plot, was very enticing. It felt slow to start for me, and I wish there were even more insight into Chuck and Olivia’s previous relationship going into the show. I think their chemistry was golden and the plot was well constructed. The end felt clipped to me, almost too neatly tied in a bow too fast, but I liked the book regardless.

To be entirely honest, I am a bit unsure of how to rate this. I adored Chuck. The premise was interesting, though executed a bit oddly at times (lots of things that didn't seem to be considered). There was chemistry between the characters, mostly because of Chuck. The mystery with Chuck's firing and Liv's parents was mostly well done (the thing with her parents was a little weird from Liv's reactions)
I would consider it 4 stars for all of that.
But there were just so many times that I just could not tolerate Olivia. Her raging lust over Chuck was over the top in an odd way, and everything about him was always about that. All the way to 70% in, he would say something really sweet or romantic and she'd just be all about how hot he was or remembering sex with him. It was really off-putting. Similarly, she just always wanted to be angry with him, while we were meant to think he was fighting with her in the same way. He was CONSTANTLY trying to get her to grow up and stop picking fights with him, and it just made me feel sad for him and that she didn't deserve him.
Even when she finally recognizes her "running" issue, it just feels anti-climactic since Chuck was saying it the whole book, and then her grandma and BFF say it. Where were they before, getting her to wake up? She was 31 years old, not 21.
She also wasn't necessarily the brightest bulb in other ways. Her reactions to so much were histrionic and self-centered, and lacked the skeptical mindset she supposedly had.
I also didn't understand a lot about the show. They kept being sneaky or just talking about things and that only came back to bite them when convenient. I also feel like it was ridiculous that they didn't even make it one week at the house. They were supposed to be adults, not teenagers.
So with all of that in mind, I struggle to go with 4 stars. I guess 3.5 stars?

loved this romance and that they were broken up and went on a TV for a million dollars . They found ways to get to know one another better and find out more about their families and still have smexy times.

Olivia and Chuck…although I prefer Charlie. There is so much chemistry between the two and I couldn’t put the book down. I finished it in a day and there really is a great story within the hate/love romance. The book kept getting more enjoyable and I couldn’t wait to finish it and find out how it all came together..and for the two of them to figure out everything as well. It’s a feel good story that I think is worth a read!

This is such a fun unique romance. I wasn’t sure i was gonna like it but i ended up loving it!
One bed trope. Hands off rule. 1m at stake. Will they make it to the end?
One of my faves of the year!

I wasn't sure I would take to the idea of a game show being part of the plot, but I surprisingly enjoyed that element. It added that "different" piece to the typical trope of high chemistry, break up, get back together. The thing is, the chemistry between Chuck and Olivia IS intense, it IS present, and then it DOES become unbearable to handle when they are on the reality show and CAN'T act on it. Plus, there was a side dose of familial relationships and character development. This is a FUN read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute and authentic book by Holly James! Thank you NetGalley for the read, it’s greatly appreciated.
This was my second read by this author and I could very visibly see her progression as an author and the depth of writing reflects that. A fun plot with an even more fun ending, I can appreciate the plot twists in this novel and saw the MMC as a bit bland, but overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and trendy read!

I found this rom-com meh. The story is cute and light, but I often found the characters a little annoying and not completely realistic. I liked the concept of the novel, but the pacing of the story wasn't alway quite right. It took a while to get to the meat of the plot, but then would wrap up quickly. The ending just sort of arrived quickly without much satisfaction. Overall, it's a breezy, quick read that's mostly enjoyable, but didn't leave a lasting impression.

If you were offered a million dollars to live with your ex for a month and be filmed for a reality tv show, would you do it?
Holly James has this uncanny ability to take a "can you imagine if..." situation, and cleverly transform it into a story.
We meet Olivia and Chuck as they're breaking up in a very dramatic and public manner. At no point does it feel like the relationship's demise can be pinned on one person. Both characters have flaws that have prevented them from understanding each other but their sexual chemistry allowed them to ignore those issues for a while (they literally cannot keep their hands off of each other). As a reader, you're given little glimpses of their relationship and you can't help but feel hopeful for Olivia and Chuck's relationship to be repaired.
This book feels like a quick read, most likely thanks to the chemistry and banter between Olivia and Chuck. It's the perfect Summer read.
Perfect if you love:
Forced proximity
Only one bed
MCs in their 30's
Hollywood romance
Second chance romance

Olivia (“love child” of a deceased Hollywood couple) and her boyfriend (current B list actor) have a mega-fight resulting in a public breaking up, only to find out it’s been secretly recorded, gone viral, and they’re both in the spotlight! A reality TV show sees it and offers them a million dollars to live for a month with each other… easy money or will it be the month from Hell?
This book was cute, light, and a sweet read. In the beginning I thought it lacked substance a little, but the book is like an onion as Shrek would say; as the pages turned the characters grew and I went from causally reading this book to wanting to sit down and finish it to know how it ended!
Thank you NetGalley, Dutton, Penguin Random House, and Holly James for the ARC!

Big thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for providing this eARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and freely given.
Let's chat about "Name Your Price" by Holly James – a rom-com that throws Liv, a struggling reporter, and Chuck, a recently axed C-list actor, into the chaotic realm of reality TV romance. Their messy past and present fraught with tension explode when their viral breakup lands them on a reality show. With a million-dollar prize at stake and a strict "no touching" rule, they're in for a wild ride.
On the upside, the premise of "Name Your Price" is seriously intriguing, giving off vibes of popular reality shows like "Too Hot to Handle" and "Big Brother." Watching Chuck's family dynamics unfold and seeing Liv's unwavering commitment to her grandma added depth to the storyline. Plus, the closure Liv found from confronting her past gave the whole plot an extra layer of feels.
But, there were a few hiccups along the way. The pacing felt a bit wonky, taking forever to get into the competition and then wrapping up too quickly. I was hoping for more build-up in the competition department – you know, some nail-biting tension to really amp things up! The last 20% felt like it came out of nowhere, leaving me skimming through in search of more satisfying closure. Also, a dual POV would've been killer, giving us a deeper dive into Chuck's side of the story.
Even with its flaws, "Name Your Price" still delivers on the romantic tension and laugh-out-loud moments. It's a wild ride of emotions that'll keep you hooked until the end. So, if you're up for a fun escape into the world of reality TV romance, give it a shot!
Overall rating: 3.75 stars/ 1 chili pepper
Tropes: forced proximity, second chance

If you love Holly James' clever writing (me!!) and reality TV, you're going to be super satisfied by Name Your Price, which is very pleasantly steamy compared to her other (also excellent) novels. The premise of this one is fantastic, and I was hooked from beginning to end. It's got all the forced proximity goodness you want with sizzling tension that keeps the pages turning. Fast-paced and just super fun, this is the perfect beach read to binge in a day. A must-read for Too Hot to Handle fans!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dutton for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun and cute read! I read this in a few hours and I was immediately drawn into the story. Reality TV + Romance=the best story line! I loved Olivia and Chuck their chemistry and pent up frustration was too good. Overall I loved this book and would definitely recommend!

A fun rom-com meets reality tv romance. Think Big Brother, but with one couple and they have to complete challenges together to win the ultimate prize. Olivia and Chuck have a very public break up that lands them trending online which piques the interest of a television producer. The couple will get a million dollars each if they survive one month locked in a house together. Sounds easy right? Lots of obstacles along the way including handcuffs, lies, and tight spaces. Quick read and if you enjoy some romance, comedy, and reality tv then this if for you. It was a little much with the plot at times, but overall a different read. 3.9 stars.

Holly James's latest book is perfect for all game show fans :)
Name Your Price is an unusual romcom that I'm so glad I picked up! Quirky, unique, and laugh-out-loud funny this book is enjoyable from the beginning. This is the first book I've read by Holly James but it won't be the last!

I really enjoyed this one! I loved that she made an actor and a writer seem “just like” regular people. Grandma Ruby was also a favorite character as she seemed really sweet but also held her own secrets. I thought the story was great up until the major sex scene; it felt a little shallow and expected, I guess? I just felt like the author spent so much time showing how they actually had a relationship with depth while they lived in the house and the sex scene felt like it cheapened the quality of their relationship. Overall, would recommend!

This was such a cute rom com! I enjoyed reading this story and loved the chemistry between the two main characters.
Thank you to netgalley for this ARC!
