I've read a lot of sports romance but almost none of them have been baseball based - so this was a fun change! I loved Chris - he was such a wonderful blend of brawn and vulnerability. I especially liked that the author addressed him getting professional help for his panic attacks by the end of the book. I wasn't a massive fan of how early the miscommunication trope showed up, because I found myself on edge waiting for everything to blow up. That made it hard to enjoy the sweet parts of the story!

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing me with an advanced readers e-book in exchange for an honest review.
"You're the book I want to re-read for the rest of my life." - Chris
"I have to stay aggressively present just to get through the day." - Daphne
Chris Kepler has just catapulted himself to the top of my book boyfriend list. Hot, funny and SENSITIVE. It's been a long time since I've read a book and truly loved the characters, flaws and all. Plus, Alicia did an incredible job depicting the grief that Chris carries daily. You could feel the weight of it yourself through the pages.
The writing was easy to follow, full of great banter and my God, I haven't thought of Milo & Otis in about 20 years so that was a fun surprise. I was absolutely hooked from the very beginning and ate it right up.
I don't typically go for a baseball romance, but this one hit it out of the park (I'll see myself out, I'm sorry.) An absolute 5-star read for me, and I'll definitely be reading more of Alicia's books.

THIS BOOK WAS PHENOMENAL! Baseball isn’t usually my sports romance of choice, but Alicia Thompson hit it out of the park with this one.
Before anything else, I have to mention that the grief commentary was beautiful. Chris’ pain felt tangible.
Now. I don’t love a miscommunication trope where everything could be solved by one of the MCs simply speaking up, but man, this was done so well.
If this isn’t on your radar, it needs to be!

sooo cute! I really liked this! gosh, i truly always eat up a sports romance. They always hit for me! Great writing and relatable characters. I thought the romance was done so well along with the character development!

i looved this one! i’ve liked both of the books i’ve read from this author, but i never really loved either one of them. but i knew from the first two chapters that this one was going to be different. without giving too much away…did i absolutely love what daphne did? not in the slightest, but it made for a really good plot i thought. i do like how things were handled in the end, and i think the way it evolved was honestly really realistic. i understand why she did what she did, could empathize with her, but still feel for chris.
plotwise aside, the romance in this was top tier. i loved how they got to know each other (twice!) and how they kept feeling that current of emotions towards each other in the different settings. daphne was such a fun fmc, i really loved reading about her and seeing her progression throughout the story as she gets over a recent(ish) divorce. and chris… don’t even get me started!!! that man was the sweeeeetest mmc i’ve read ever, and he wears a gold chain people!!! that aspect needs to be in more books, i swear. it was so hot 😮💨 this was definitely alicia thompson’s most horniest book, and i was SAT for it. i loved every aspect of this!
i honestly can’t wait for this to be published, because i know i’ll be picking up a physical copy asap. i’ll probably even reread it then, too, and annotate my favorite moments because there was a lot. this was a really sweet and heartfelt novel and i would definitely recommend it for the romance readers!

It's like You've Got Mail...but with a dash of Cinderella Story. And then, of course, baseball!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. As an avid baseball fan, I feel that Alicia Thompson did the subgenre of "sports romance" a solid by actually including the sport within the romance in an accurate manner!!!!
I also am so grateful of how Thompson created such devastanglly tender and heartwarming moments that made you fall in love with all of the characters.
A more full review to come closer to release date, but until then:
1) Add The Art of Catching Feelings to your TBR (after glancing at the trigger warnings below)
2) Go Braves! Man this book has got me excited for Spring!
Trigger Warnings:
open door romance
mentions of greif and suicide
mentions of pregnancy and birth for a side character

I LOVED this book! This is my first time reading a book by this author and now I can't wait to read her others. Chris and Daphne were so cute together both in text and in person and I enjoyed the little secret, "You've Got Mail" aspect of the story. I love books where the characters have to face and overcome real struggles and this book did not disappoint in that regard. I've already recommended it to a friend to put on her TBR list.

Yessss give me all the baseball romances! I’m a die hard baseball fan and I’m ready for more books like The Art of Catching Feelings. It was deeply romantic, which is something I’ve felt is really missing in today’s booktok world. I loved the writing and the emotions it brought out in me. Highly recommend and I know I will be rereading this during baseball season!

Golly. First can we just talk about how CUTE the cover of this book? It was immediately what caught my attention but the love story is definitely what kept me reading!

This is a solid 5-star read that had me completely hooked. Alicia has a knack for creating relatable characters that make your heart do somersaults. We get to meet Chris, a pro baseball player, and Daphne, a temporary reporter for the team, and you won't be able to resist falling for them.
What I loved most about this book is how Alicia seamlessly weaves in the struggles men face when they feel the need to hide their negative emotions, grapple with panic attacks, and keep their vulnerabilities hidden. Daphne embodies that feeling of the panic of getting caught in a lie that just keeps getting deeper.
Throughout the story, I found myself on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating how it would all unravel, and which point would Chris find out. It happened in a way I was not how I expected but was so impactful to the moment.
Alicia's writing is smooth and easy to follow, and the emotions in the story hit you right in the feels. The relationship between Daphne and Chris is a perfect blend of forced proximity and workplace romance, with a whole lot of consent, making it a delightful read.
While the story touches on sensitive topics like suicide and divorce, it handles them with care, focusing more on how these experiences impact Daphne and Chris in their relationships.
Overall, a fantastic read with relatable characters, heartwarming emotions, and a sweet consensual romance that'll leave you with a big smile.

This is my 3rd Alicia Thompson book, and my favorite. I love a good romance that also makes you cry, and she hit it out of the park with this one (see what I did there?) I look forward to more books from her!

This was such a cute read and I enjoyed it immensely. The only reason why I couldn't bring myself to give it a full 5 stars is because of this one specific action our main character took. And this might be too soon to say since The Art of Catching Feelings doesn't even come out until the middle of next year, but I look forward to what Alicia Thompson plan to put out next since I have such a good time with her romances.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked Chris a lot and there were some sweet moments between him and Daphne! However, I felt the situation was all a bit convoluted and I didn't really like what Daphne did. It made me shake my head a few times throughout when Chris was being very open and vulnerable with her and she just continues lying to him... Chris was so valid in his anger and disappointment when it all came to light and I felt the forgiveness was a little too easy.

Daphne makes a pretty bad decision in this book which I really didn’t like. It kind of kept throwing me out of the story. I love baseball and I love romance books but I just could not love this one.

alicia thompson!!!!!!!!! i love you!!!!!! i was so happy to see that one of my go to authors decided to write a sports novel. i think baseball was such an amazing choice, especially given a time where we are seeing hockey romances left and right, and it was executed quite beautifully.
the way this novel was not only funny and heartwarming but also had me crying my eyes out... just wow. although i obviously didn't agree with the choices the fmc made, i ultimately did love the unique story of daphne and chris. chris was just such a sweetheart. it's rare we get a mmc whom of which is battling anxiety and depression and is just going through it while also trying to navigate his career. i think daphne heckling him came at the right moment in his life. it was truly the best time for both of them to find one another.
overall i really loved this book and i think alicia did a phenomenal job as always!!!!
thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review!!!

Daphne makes headlines heckling a professional baseball player. She decides to apologize for her behavior but somehow fumbles the apology. Chris sees her message as a kindness and begins to talk to Daphne, who he knows as Duckie. Their paths begin to cross at work also and Daphne has trouble being honest with Chris. Will they be able to make their love last?
I have read and enjoyed all of Alicia Thompson’s books, and I think this one is my new favorite! Despite not loving a choice the main character makes, she is otherwise likable. The story is light hearted but has enough serious moments to be relatable and real. Chris is a sweetheart! There’s more spice than I remembered from her previous books. Overall, this is just what I enjoy in a rom com- sweet, funny, and filled with adorable moments.
Thank you to Alicia Thompson, Berkley Romance, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I liked Daphne and Chris. The story felt believable. I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. The baseball points were actually very light to start, but they progressively became heavier the further along we got. As someone not interested in baseball (with very little knowledge of the sport), a lot of the jokes fell flat for me. Readers who actively dislike baseball, feel free to avoid.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.

Alicia Thompson has a way with words. Each of her books has its own atmosphere, and the characters truly come alive. Not only is it nail biting watching this story unfold, it has me blushing and giggling and kicking my feet. She scored a home run with this romance!

This book is so romantic. Baseball fans and non-baseball fans will enjoy this tender book about two people picking themselves up after tough losses (one post-divorce, the other grieving the lost of a sibling) and finding themselves in an unexpected romance. There's a You've Got Mail vibe as these two exchange semi-anonymous DMs but instead of rival bookstore owners, it's a baseball player and his heckler. All I can say is that Alicia Thompson crafts these perfect, vulnerable moments that are so tender and sweet, it had me turning the pages into extra innings.
