Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an eARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I am an avid reader of Christina Lauren romances.
The Paradise Problem didn't disappoint. Their signature wit and banter filled the pages between honest portrayals of the human experience and open door romance scenes that explored the meaning of Goddamn. IYKYK.
Anna Green's life hasn't been anything like she expected. Going to school as PreMed, she quickly found that it wasn't for her and pursued a degree in fine arts. Broke as s joke, she enters a fake marriage in order to utilize on-campus affordable housing. (NGL, this aspect kind of rubbed me the wrong way.)
Five years later, her fake ex-husband (Liam) shows up with a proposition she can't refuse. He needs her to continue their ruse of a marriage one last time, but to do so she needs to travel to southeast Asia on a dream vacation to his sister's wedding. It turns out, he needs her in order to obtain a weird stipulation in the trust his grandfather left him. In exchange, he will pay her a sum of money large enough to wipe out most of her debt and have a fresh start.
We all know how marriages of convenience set in a tropical paradise end up, right? Right.
It was a fun ride. This is a perfect poolside read, just make sure the font on your kindle isn't too large when you get to certain scenes. Or do. Your call.
I'd also love it if CLo and Emily Henry books didn't release back to back. Let's save some for a rainy day.

Pretending to be married to keep your inheritance? What could possibly go wrong? I LOVED this book. It gave me all the feels and had me laughing out loud. I loved being on the journey with Anna and West and watching them go from fake friends to falling in love, If you are a fan of Christina Lauren, run now and begin reading this book.

I love the arc - characters were relatable and the ending with his dad made the most sense. Families aren’t perfect but standing up to family bullies needs to happen for healing

I really loved this book! It didn’t feel like their last two books, but it was still amazing! Part of the writing felt more like a debut, but once you looked past it the story line itself was really good.
I loved that Anna was flawed and imperfect, but still so confident and actually communicated. It was really fun reading a romcom that was also part family drama! It also had all of my favorite tropes (hello one bed and fake marriage). I highly recommend this one!

I enjoyed this one more than most other Christina Lauren I have read. The writing was quippy and funny. The chemistry and connection was heated. I struggled a bit with Anna’s character (just not relatable at times) and some of the plot lines were too drawn out IMO. But overall still a solid summer read.

Another fantastic romcom by the Christina Lauren duo! This one pulled me in right away as soon as i got to know the main character, Anna Green. Her free spirit and ability to persevere during hard times made her wonderfully endearing. Her pseudo marriage to “West” Weston and their need to pretend to have a legitimate marriage while attending his sister’s wedding on an island in paradise made for a can’t put down summer read. Highly recommend!

🌺This will go down as the book of Summer 2024 for me!!🌺
You know @christinalauren from big titles such as THE SOULMATE EQUATION & LOVE AND OTHER WORDS, but gear up for one of the biggest books of the summer: THE PARADISE PROBLEM!
This was a no brainer. As soon as this arrived at our doorsteps, @abbysbookadventure and I knew that we had to buddy read this one ASAP!
Here’s a few things to know about this book to grip you:
🌺Anna and Liam entered into a marriage of convenience for the sake of college expenses and thought they saw the last of each other after graduation
☀️Almost five years later, Liam calls up Anna to beg her to join him and his family in Thailand for his sister’s wedding under the guise that they’ve been happily married all this time
🌺What begins as a ploy to make Liam’s family stay off his back as he reluctantly takes over the family business quickly becomes a tropical vacation filled with a blooming romance
💭Here are a few of my thoughts if you’re convinced yet:
- I hesitantly give out 5 stars these days, so when I tell ya that this earned the coveted title it truly blew my socks off!
- I giggled, smiled, and swooned through this book. Anna and Liam have grown to be one of my favorite book couples!
- I dream casted with Abby throughout her buddy read and I want the universe to know that this deserves the screen adaptation treatment! If Haley Lu Richardson does not play the role of Anna, however, then I don't want it!!! She would be incredible in that role!
So find out yourself this May when Christina Lauren’s new rom com THE PARADISE PROBLEM hits the shelves why this came realllllly close to dethroning my all time fave by them, THE SOULMATE EQUATION!

Such a fun summer read! I loved everything about Anna and West. This is for you if you like these tropes: opposites attract, marriage of convenience, and dysfunctional families. The characters were well developed. I absolutely loved that Anna was such a strong woman and such a good influence on West, who was raised in an ultra-rich, dysfunctional family. The paradise island wedding venue was an added bonus!
Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the advanced digital copy of the book for my review.

The Paradise Problem is my favorite book by Christina Lauren to date knocking The UnHoneymooners from my top spot. I have never met two main characters with the level of banter that Anna and Liam had. This is the PERFECT book to kick off summer reading as it has a bit of everything: Secret marriage of convenience, lots of family drama, destination wedding on a secluded island, lots of witty one-liners, and so much chemistry and spice. I read through this one so quickly and it'll definitely be going on my reread list. Add this to you summer reading list immediately!

If I ever want a book that's going to give me the warm fuzzies it's always a Christina Lauren book. I loved everything about this book from the cover to the setting and of course the romance was excellent as always. I fell in love with the main characters and all of the family drama, the poor girl with the rich guy, all of it was just perfectly written. I'm honestly sad this book wasn't longer even though it ended on a happy note, I wanted more about these two characters.

Anna Green is a starving artist who thought she was marrying Liam “West” Weston for cheaper college housing. After graduation, they get divorced and go their separate ways, until 3 years later when West shows back up on Anna’s door with a favor to ask and some important information. Not only are they still married but he needs her to be his wife for 12 days while they attend his sister’s wedding on a private island. As it turns out West is also the wealthy heir of a grocery chain and in order to save his inheritance he must be married for 5 years. Can they convince his family that they are really in love or will everything fall apart?
I am obsessed with everything @christinalauren writes! Give me all of the fake dating/ marriage. Mature relationships and communication (I loathe the miscommunication trope.) This was the perfect summer read, with all of the family drama, quirky fun characters, and made you want to jet off to an island…just not with the Weston family.

Christina Lauren can do no wrong. While I had trouble connecting with Anna in the beginning, I loved this marriage of convenience turned on its head. West was endearing, and the island wedding made this a wonderful summer romance.

Christina Lauren hits another book out of the park. I love the concept of this story. Married for a common need and about to go separate ways, Liam now needs Anna to continue playing his fake wife to earn his inheritance. Fun, silly, and enjoyable. Would highly recommend to everyone.

OMG this book was so fun! It had me hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I LOVED Anna’s character! I related to her a lot which made me love the story that much more. The banter was top notch and had me cackling at points 😂 There was also some emotional parts which I always love. I need a book to make me feel all the feelings and this one definitely did! The good, the bad, and the ugly feelings 😂 Liam was amazing and he had such good character growth after everything he had been through in his past. This book made me want a freaking tropical beach vacation like right now! It really transported you to their little island in the middle on nowhere! I’ve read quite a few books by Christina Lauren and this one is right at the top of my favs list!
Highly recommend this one if you want a fun, summery read that will transport you to paradise!
Thank you also to @netgalley and @gallerybooks for the early copy of this gem to read and review!!

Christina Lauren books are nearly always a great read! This one features what turned out to be a really charming couple that you want to root for, and even the family didn't turn out as horrible as you initially expect... with one exception to be discovered (although it won't be hard to puzzle out). Will always recommend Christina Lauren's books.

5 Stars
Once again Christina Lauren (or should I say Christina AND Lauren) knocked it out of the park. Don't let the cover fool you; this isn't just a bland copy/paste of The Unhoneymooners, but instead it's own swoony fake marriage trope set in paradise.
Instead of Hawaii, we are in Singapore. Instead of faking a marriage to get the paid for accommodations, we are faking it to inherit a huge amount of money. Instead of enemies-to-lovers, we have mutually beneficial opposites attract.
The marriage of convenience trope is one of my all time favorites and is always hard to do in contemporary romances because WHO ACTUALLY GETS MARRIED FOR CONVENIENCE THESE DAYS AND ACTUALLY FALL IN LOVE???? The fact that CLo has done this trope more than once and still keeps it fresh it INCREDIBLE. This book sold the trope because CLo managed to take two polar opposite personalities and throw in a heavy dose of realistic expectations and mutual trust and BOOM THATS WHAT LOVE IS MADE OF.
I haven't watched succession, but I feel like this story is the ultimate rom-com baby of Succession and Crazy Rich Asians. The setting and family dynamic were both wild in their own rights, making the fake marriage the least ridiculous thing happening in the story. OH! And if you were really turned on by the "um your son is perfect and you actually suck" moment in The Hating Game, then this book will give you one massive hard on.
I also loved how each character not only needed the financial freedom this money would provide, but truly needed something from the others' lifestyle; Liam needed familial love and acceptance, and Anna needed someone to empower her for who she is.
This might actually be my new favorite CLo book and I honestly cannot wait to reread it.

Christina Lauren has done it again. She is truly one of the Queens of Rom Coms. This book had so much depth to the story and characters, while also being so charming and laugh out loud funny. The whole time I was reading this, I was thinking they HAVE to make a movie out of this one. Read this one if you love:
-second chance romance
-toxic family relationships
-billionaire families
This is the perfect beach read for this summer you guys, make sure that you pick it up!

This is the perfect beach read! Or escape if you aren't at the beach. Christina Lauren are always guaranteed to make you have the best time with their books. This fake dating marriage of convenience romance is so fun.

I enjoyed this one! Anna and Liam got married so they could get a better deal on student housing and when they were done, they signed divorce papers, only Anna didn't read them closely enough. Three years later, Anna is a struggling artist and Liam is a Stanford professor who needs her help. Anna needs to come with him to a family wedding and act as his wife (which she's legally been this whole time) or Liam loses his inheritance.
Things I liked: Anna and Liam's chemistry, the setting, the eat the rich vibes, the sisterhood between the women who married into this mess of a family, the spice, the consequences for bad men. It was a slow burn but definitely spicy when it hit. A little predictable, but fun nonetheless.
Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I liked the location and vacation-feel of this one. And I did finish it. But this may be my last from this author. I’m not a fan of the ridiculous storyline of the fake marriage/knowing nothing about one another/having been roommates, sort of. The storyline wasn’t compelling or interesting until about halfway through the book.
