*I received an ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. *
This was a super sweet story and I loved that Liam and Dani had such chemistry. The big surprise wasn't honestly that big of a surprise. Dani is laugh out loud hilarious but it was sometimes hard to read because she was so down on herself and had huge body issues.
I did like that Dani was so supportive in the end and there for Liam. Liam was such a great character and he was so sweet to Dani that I was happy to see that she returned the favor.
3 out of 5 stars.

I requested this book ten years ago, and am no longer interested in reading. Thank you for the opportunity.

The title page says "Crossing" is inspired by a true story, something I love seeing on movies but rarely come across in novels. I admit I would have preferred to read about how an author got the idea for a book in the afterword as my curiosity about it shadowed the fictional story I was about to read.
The opening line of the novel made me think the main character could potentially be a school kid, despite the cover art, but as you delve further into the book it finds the right tone for a college girl who is just as interested in boys as she is her college classes. For the most part, Dani seems likeable. Your average confused twenty-year old, but the smoking and shop-lifting temporarily lowers your regard for her --thankfully just a one-time thing. Her constant low self-esteem is portrayed in a realistic way rather than seeming whiney, and the more she thrives in the theatre the more the reader and Dani is able to appreciate who she is rather than how others may perceive her.
As for Liam, college is meant for “finding yourself” and the MMC is able to come to terms with his preferences in dress while there and in thanks to the support of Dani. He may appear the put-together hot guy, but his love-of-self levels rival Dani’s, making him even more vulnerable than she is. By the end of the novel he too comes into his own, finding his place to be happy as he no longer hides who he truly is.

Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.
