Wow, there is only one word for this book, and it is "ADORABLE"! I don't even own a garden right now, but this book still makes me want to head outside and hide little fairy homes all over the area where I live - and this is saying something, since I suffer from chronic illnesses that make the outside world seem quite off-putting to me.

I love that "Making Fairy Garden Accessories" is less like an instruction manual, and more like a suggestion on what to build. The authors make sure to remind the reader that the best part of building fairy houses is giving them your personal touch, and using what you can find, rather than exactly what the book tells you to. This creates freedom and room for creativity - which is what crafting is all about, after all.

One of my favourite parts of this book was actually the Materials section, where the authors present stuff you can find anywhere in nature and then proceed to give advice for what each material can be used as. An acorn cap? How about a bird bath? An L-shaped twig? Perfect floor lamp! In short, it opens one's eyes to the potential in everyday objects. There is also a section on how to make your finished items weather-resistant, which is genius!

I've saved the best for last - namely, the pictures! This book is full of adorable and inspiring photographs of fairy homes and their accessories, and even a quick scroll through the pages makes me want to start gluing random tiny things together. More than that, they make me want to run away and become a fairy myself - if only for the chance to live in one of these houses!

I can't wait to flip through this book over and over and over again, and start my own fairy village. Since I'm also a fan of everything dark and spooky, I myself plan to incorporate the bones I find in nature, and build a witch hut in time for Halloween. "Making Fairy Garden Accessories" is a book for pretty much anyone and reminds us to let our imagination flow.

Huge thank you to Fox Chapel Publishing for making this book available through NetGalley.

This book has a niche focus that is perfect for those looking to learn how to make accessories for their fairy gardens, learn how to get started with fairy gardens, or those who are curious as to what fairy gardens are all about. This is a playful book that is imaginative, fun, and upbeat with step-by-step instructions to make different accessories from a hobbit door to mini bonfires. Each page has pictures that pair with the instructions to show you what it should look like and give you a strong start at eventually making your own accessories. This would be great to spruce up gardens and backyards or for the subject of art classes, bonding with children, or craft days.

No star rating | This is a sweet craft, I've many times considered making a fairy door for my baseboard, but I don't need another craft at the moment. The instructions here are very clear, and the creators' voices are friendly. I'm not giving it a star rating, and will not be recommending it, because the book many times references placing these objects in nature and protecting the craft from the elements, but does not even once mention the impact on nature from the craft projects. These are sticks, rocks, moss, bits of wood, all things that animals naturally interact with, be that dogs, squirrels, possums, raccoons, whatever. The creators then add lengths of wire, paint, wood stain, sealants, piles of various glues, plastic dollhouse miniatures, batteries, LEDs, plastic tealights, etc. If they had even included one paragraph urging crafters to consider the final location and to use nontoxic materials for projects destined for the outdoors, or if they had mentioned that wood sealants generally give off toxic fumes while setting, so users should not place products using them near animals until set, if they had suggested that items containing plastic miniatures are best for indoors, rather than a park or recreational area, I would have given it a nice star rating. As it is, I just can't.

(note that I did not provide a star rating elsewhere online, but NetGalley requires one)

A great source of inspiration with step-by-step tutorials on making the cutest garden accessories that will turn a plain space or object into something magical. This book covers all the materials, tools, and techniques used to craft elements of a fairy house.
The pictures are clear, with detailed descriptions of all the steps required to create certain elements. The projects themselves are beginner-friendly, covering simple objects like doors, ladders, or houses, as well as a variety of more complex projects like a wishing well or fire pit.
I would recommend it to someone, who is just starting his adventure with DIY projects, as it would all be a bit too obvious to a more experienced creator.
It does make your creative juices flow!

Oh the things I am going to do to my yard!!! I love the gallery it gives tons of ideas and shows you what is possible. Since I struggle with visualizing things it is always helpful to see what things look like. The steps are easy to follow and it is organized really well. YOu can use the basic steps to combine and modify to create even more. I now have the power and will probably need to be stopped before I fairyize EVERYTHING.

I loved nearly all of the items in the gallery but I'm not sure I could ever make any of them myself. The instructions were very clear with helpful photographs of each step and the tools and materials needed allows the crafter to be well-prepared. The introductory chapters shared some great insights into why certain materials and tools were needed and how other miscellaneous items could be incorporated into these designs. The Fairy Lamp and Bookshelf alone are reasons to buy this book.

The beautiful cover and illustrations will draw crafters to this book, and the step-by-step- instructions will make sure their adventure in Fairy Gardening is a success! Photos of the "back side" of works in progress are particularly helpful as readers can see exactly how the pieces go together and where they might need to spend extra time. Although the images will appeal to all ages, the projects are best for older teens and adults who have small motor control and patience; projects will need to be adapted for younger or disabled crafters. Overall a great addition to any crafting collection, thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to explore this arc!

Do I need to get sucked into another craft??? No, no I do not. Do I want to now go out and collect and buy all the things to make fairy gardens??? Yes, yes I do.
So thanks for that Anna-Marie and Andrew.

Nice book if you're looking for step by step instructions for making your own fairy gardens. Once you learn the basics the only limits will be your imagination.

Pros: A local botanical gardens has a fairy garden area that is so enchanting. I've thought about adding a fairy garden at my home, but it's hard to know where to start. I was interested to read this book for inspiration and a guide to getting started. I was beyond impressed with the art and skill presented in this book to guide readers through creating tiny additions to their fairy gardens. (My favorite was the bookshelf!) Although I don't see myself attempting any of the craft projects, I loved all of the photographs in this book because they gave me ideas for creating a charming fairy garden.

Cons: None that I can think of!

Thank you to NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
