That's Not My Name is a YA thriller told from two different POVs. The first is a girl who wakes up on the side of a remote road in terrible condition--and she has no memory of who or where she is. The second is a teenager named Dean whose girlfriend has gone missing, and the whole town believes he is responsible.
This is an amazing debut! I devoured the audiobook in a couple of days. The suspense starts right with the first chapter and never really lets up. It is a YA novel and the main characters are teens, but it didn't feel overly YA to me and I really think it could be enjoyed by adult readers too.
I thought the narrators both did an excellent job, and I really liked the back and forth perspectives throughout the book. There were a couple of parts that didn't feel totally believable, but overall I thought this was a super fun thriller that you should definitely add to your TBR!
4.5/5 stars!

This was a creepy and thrilling tale of a girl who wakes up in the middle of nowhere and cannot remember a single thing about her life, not even her name. That is until a man rushes into the police station asking for his missing daughter Mary Boone, and it’s her. Or so he says. He has enough information and evidence to convince the police officer, so surely he's telling the truth. He has to be her father and she is Mary Boone...right?
This was an exciting dual perspective story which I wasn’t expecting at first but I actually think both POVs complimented each other really well to create even more mystery and suspense. Both of the voices were clear and felt like full characters. I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed both narrators voices and thought they fit their characters well.
This was a fast paced high stakes read. I think the second point of view really helped to add depth and an additional layer of emotional involvement for the reader as well as heightening the pressure.
I very much enjoyed listening to That’s Not My Name and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast paced YA thriller.

Thanks to RB Media, NetGalley, author Megan Lally and narrators Sophie Amoss and Robb Moriera for the wonderful opportunity of listening to an advance copy of audiobook That’s Not My Name. This is a fast paced, exciting and engaging book that quickly pulls the reader in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I could not put this book down it kept me guessing and the unique twist (no spoilers here😊) will surprise you.
The writing was well done and I look forward to reading more from this author. I truly enjoyed the characters and their backstories were well done and made them feel like the kind of people who would be interesting to meet in real life.
I definitely recommend this if you enjoyed the Truly Devious series or The Agatha’s series. You won’t be disappointed in this book.

This YA mystery thriller had me anxious the entire time. I’m not a fan of that feeling, so I don’t know why I do this to myself. But if that’s the feeling and genre you’re after, then This might be the book for you. The plot follows two stories: one of a teen girl who wakes up in a ditch and doesn’t even remember her own name, and the other of a teen boy named Drew who is searching for his girlfriend who has been missing for five weeks. At first, Drew’s character was grating, and it was hard to be on his side. The girl’s character you naturally want to root for because her story starts with so much trauma and you just want to pull her into a hug. The plot is pretty fast paced and suspenseful and (as I stated before) pretty anxiety-inducing. It’s pretty heavy on teenage and family drama as well. Typically a book like this needs some sort of humor or positive subplot to lighten it up, but that was missing in this. Still, it’s well written, and the audiobook was narrated very well by two different talented narrators for the dual POVs. Overall it’s between a 3 and 3.5 for me, but could easily be more of you’re looking for suspense and teen angst with no breaks. Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Swift, well-crafted YA mystery novel about a girl gone missing - and everyone suspect the boyfriend, while not really investigating the disappearance. Also, there is a girl with amnesia who had been returned to her caring father. Ummm...and yes, these cases are connected, somehow.
I find this an intelligently written sleuth novel, where young Drew with two friends form a formidable troup to follow a clue - with believable logic, condident built-up and well-thought plot. This really could happen the way it is written - which is, in a way, a scary knowledge.
I enjoyed this novel very much, it is refreshing to see such a good plotting!
Small minus - the fact that Drew is from same-sex parent family (two fathers) seems to be added just for the sake of diversity, as it adds nothing to the plot.

A good twists and turns story. I didn't see the last twist coming and that's what made this book good. It kept you wanting to keep reading/listening. I enjoy the narrators.

'That's Not My Name' is not your usual YA thriller.
At the start of the novel, Mary is teenage girl who has seemingly suffered a serious car accident and can't remember who she is. Waiting in the police station, she is collected by a man insisting she is his daughter Mary. She accompanies him back to their cabin and he tells her about herself but something doesn't seem right.
Drew is the second protagonist and his story is a doozy! Drew is main suspect in his girlfriend's disappearance. He was the last one to see her the night she went missing and he has a secret he's not willing to tell the local police. Desperate to clear his name and find his girlfriend, Drew begins an investigation with the help of two friends.
The dual narration was well used and the narrators were well spoken and engaging. You may know where this novel is going BUT, even if you happen to be right, you will not be disappointed!
If you enjoy thrillers and mysteries, give this one a try!

That's not my Name
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow super great book & story. I was cheering the characters on. Thank goodness for the persistent of the young people in rying to find their friend. Great twist & plot. Makes you mad at others that don't care about the true story. Only cares about hanging someone anyone. Good ending too.

This is an exciting read! In fact, I often avoid reviewing audiobooks, because I am notoriously hard to keep interested in something I can’t see (visual learner over here!). I’m also easily irritated by bad narrators. Not only did this will keep my interest however, I enjoyed the narration. When I have to stop my car and then keep listening to the audiobook as I walk into the house, you know it’s a good one!
This story is told told through two perspectives: First, that of a teenage girl who was found on the side of the road by the police, badly beaten and with no memory of who she is. She’s picked up by a man claiming to be her father, but the longer they are together (and the more she remembers) the less things feel right. Second, a teenage boy is the prime suspect and his girlfriend’s disappearance. There is a little he and his friends won’t do to clear his name and bring his girlfriend home safely.
Although this is a YA read, I think any age group will be gripped by the twists and turns of the plot. It is well-paced, and the characters are likable and realistic. I was rooting for them! I am deeply grateful to the author and publisher for allowing me to read advance, copy of this book – highly recommend!

Wow! I can’t even tell you how much I loved this book! I was checking it out on NetGalley and it sounded pretty good. So I requested the audiobook and I got it. Well, from the moment I started it until the end, I was so into it. I couldn’t stop listening. I was listening as I was cleaning and running errands, while cooking dinner, every chance I could get, I was listening to it. It was so faced paced and very creepy at times. I was getting chills. I loved it.
For those of you that don’t know. The story starts with a young girl waking up on the side of the road, bloody and with not recollection of what happened to her or who she even is. The local police find her and bring her in. Not long after, a man comes in claiming to be her father. He has proof with pictures of her, her birth certificate, school ID, you name it. So convinced he is her father, even though she has no memory, she goes home with him. Meanwhile, the second POV comes from a boy Drew, whose girlfriend has gone missing and where he is becoming the main suspect in the investigation of her disappearance and possible murder. Are these stories connected? You’ll just have to read or listen to see. I have to say this audiobook was so great. The narrators were great and brought these characters and events to life. It was just crazy good!! You will definitely start to hear more buzz about this one as the word get out. Check out the reviews on Goodreads if you don’t believe me. It was so great!! It was definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for me!!
This is under a YA category but honestly I didn’t notice that at all. I also wouldn’t want my teenage daughter to listen to this. It would scare the crap out of her. 😱 It also is a debut for this author : @megan_lally. I already can’t wait to see what else she writes in the future because this was awesome.
Thank you to @netgalley and @recordedbooks for an advanced copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
Pub Date: December 26, 2023 so it’s available now!! Go get this now!!

Wow. Wow wow wow. This book was one of the most heart-pounding, mind-racing thrillers I’ve read in a long time. I was questioning everything the whole time, and am absolutely shocked by the ending. If you want a YA thriller that will keep you in your seat, desperate to know what will happen next, this is the book for you!

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook copy of this book, I really enjoyed the story overall but the narrators were not for me. I had a hard time listening until the plot picked up bc I kept zoning out. The end twist was unexpectedly brutal for a YA, but I liked the dual POVs and I won't get Max's narrated bro voice out of my head for ages.

Megan Lally's That's Not My Name was a quick and fun thriller that kept me guessing until the end. I appreciated that the twists were not generic and that the plot kept me guessing. Told in dual points of view, both characters did a great job of propelling the narrative forward. I look forward to reading more from Lally!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read and review.

This thriller draws you in from the first page. I love a thriller that makes you think you know everything, only to find out you know nothing at all. The FMC and MMC are likable and pull at your heart while they both scramble for answers. The plot is well thought out and overall is pretty fast paced. I love a book that offers depth without being overly drawn out. I think this offers the perfect balance. This was a fantastic audiobook, the narrator does a wonderful job keeping your attention and working through the storyline with emotion without being cheesy.
This is definitely a book I will be recommending! I would like to thank Megan Lally, the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to enjoy an advanced copy of this audiobook!

Megan Lally’s “That’s Not my Name” is an exceptionally written and heartbreaking story of a missing girl and a boy who’d do anything he can to find her.
The book follows Mary, a teenage girl wakes up on a dirt road with no memory of her identity, only to be claimed by a man who insists he is her father. Meanwhile, Lola, after having stormed off after an argument with Drew, goes missing. Drew becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance, and as time passes, the search for Lola intensifies, posing a growing danger to both of them.
I really like the converging story lines in books— I love trying to figure out where the connection is and how the characters fit into each other’s lives. The only problem I really had with this novel is that the twist is very underwhelming. The book implies a connection between the characters a little too heavily for me to believe it’s anything other than a red herring. That being said, when accounting for the fact that this book is YA, I think that can be forgiven. I think for a younger person who is less aware of genre tropes it could be a really shocking twist. Despite my awareness of what’s coming, I still really enjoyed the twist; less for its shock and more for its emotional impact. Even though you know it’s coming, Lally does such a good job of still making that moment incredibly emotional.
Overall, this was a bittersweet and emotional read. I thought the audiobook was exceptionally well done, as well. That being said, without the excellent writing, the audiobook couldn’t have been as good as it was.

Wow. This book was SO good. I was pleasantly surprised. Drew, Lola, Autumn, Max, and Madison. This was a YA, but I didn’t read it because of that. I read it for the mystery, suspense. And I was not disappointed! This is literally the best book I’ve read/listened to in a long while. The narrator’s were great. The storyline was great. The pacing was great. The ending was great. Seriously 5 stars.
This book is about a missing girl, Lola. And there’s a second story at the same time about Mary Boone. The stories do collide thanks to Drew and his friends. Basically, it is a story about a missing girl and kidknapping.
Thank you to NetGalley for a review copy.

I enjoyed this book. The pace was good and snagged my attention from the beginning.. I didn't anticipate many of the twists and turns throughout the book. Narration was great. The characters were believable as teens without going overboard and sounding too "cheesy". Looking forward to reading more from this author.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5!
I hadn't heard much about this one before jumping in and I am completely blown away that this is Megan Lally's debut. It was suspenseful, heart-wrenching, terrifying, and completely enthralling, and as soon as I had to pause the audiobook I was desperate to get back to it. This was such a fantastic story and the narrators really brought everything to life, so I really recommend reading it this way if you're an audiobook person.
Thank you so much to Megan Lally and RB Media for my early listening copy!

Omg what a gripping book! This was such a page turner and i was completely enveloped in this story and i devoured it so quickly.
I really just didn’t want to stop. I was hooked and wanted to know what happened and having the dual POV gives you such a dual side that you’re begging for them to collide… and when they finally do… 😳😳 i don’t want to spoil anything but omg.
I rooted for both characters and was pushing them forward the whole way in different ways.
This is a 4.5 star for me. I will say just a slight knock for the beginning for plausibility i was questioning early on but ignored it & then for the ending. While it was a great ending… i just can’t say because it’ll spoil.
