Really loved the story. It’s my first book from the author but I have heard rave reviews from her previous books and checked it out. The first few chapters really drew me in with the originality and complexity of the story and overall I give it 4/5 starts!

Wow, I REALLY loved this book. I won't fully recap the plot, but I will say I found the story of someone that had gone missing, and then returned to be very intriguing. In fact, I cannot think of any other book that told a story like this one with a plot that was actually plausible.

Here are my favorite things about this book.

1. Bel. She is deeply flawed because of trauma she has had as a child. I was on her team the entire time, and I don't want to give anything away but I really enjoyed discovering who other characters were through her eyes. Example- the Santa coffee mug. That was a really nice touch.
2. Bel's relationship with Carter. Again, perfectly written for how the story unravels.
3. Rachel's character. She is such a mystery, but as we get to know her every action she takes in the book makes perfect sense.

I have not read a book in a while where I thought I needed to go back and read it again to catch even more clues. It really was just that good!!!

This is out today. You don't want to skip this read.

oh i was shocked this book is shocking (positive).

this book is about bel price, a teenager who's agreed, along with her family, to appear in a documentary about her missing mother, who suddenly reappears after having been missing for sixteen years. i've read holly jacksons' work before and i quite enjoyed her a good girl' guide to murder series. i'm not a huge fan of thrillers but i really like jackson's works; they always have a good strong cast with good characterization and a twisty mystery that i'm always shocked at, and i'm glad to report that the reappearance of rachel price checks both those boxes. this plot in particular left me so surprised and i really had no clue where this book was heading. specifically the ending ten chapters were just shocking me left right and center.

bel is a really interesting mc because she's definitely a flawed and emotional character, and she has her own faults, but it's easy to understand where it comes from and why she's this way. i loved her relationship with carter, and i really liked carter; she proved a good foil to bel in terms of their opinions about rachel. the only nitpick i have with this book though is the faint hint of romance; i didn't really think it was necessary and honestly i could've done with or without it.

this book dragged a little for me before rachel's reappearance, but once she came back, this book was dialed up to ten and i was hooked. i would definitely recommend this to fans of jackson's previous works and fans of a good twisty thriller in general. i'm gonna give this 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.

thanks to netgalley and random house children's for the arc!

Happy Publication Day to this cutie!

Thank you Netgalley for granting me an e-arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As soon as I saw that this book was on here, I requested it and hoped with bated breath that in some crazy world, I would receive an arc from one of my all time favorite authors. So, imagine my surprise when I received the email stating THAT I GOT THE ARC for this book! I almost immediately started this book and flew through it.

The story follows Annabel Price, whose mother disappeared 16 years ago and now there's a documentary being filmed about what went on and what could have happened to Rachel Price. It has major tones that may make some think about the GGGTM series and I think this may be because the author was dealing with the tv-show while writing this book. Anyways, one day as Bel is walking away from the filming of the doc, she sees her mom across the street. Her reappearance drags up family secrets that may have been better left hidden. The Price family is picked apart and the twists may leave some gasping. The small romance plot between her and Ash was adorable and I also liked her relationship with Carter.

I went into this book with very high expectations but was a bit nervous because the plot would have not stood out to me if it wasn't because of Holly Jackson being the author. Alas, I looked past that and just read the book. There were many times in the middle where I was a bit bored and just wanted it to be wrapped up BUT when the twists started, I was hooked and could not stop reading. The end was everything I wanted it to be and left me wanting even more! Also the storyline was so crazy (in my opinion) which just goes to show that I could never be an author since Holly Jackson was able to just pull this out her brain and make it into a full story. Def would not complain if we got a little novella for Ash and Bel since they deserve more.

Recommended for any fans of Holly Jackson(duh) and her other works, those that like YA thrillers that have some aspects for an older audience, or those that just want a fun time with a bit longer book!

Her acknowledgements was also such a good insight into the writing of this book and helped clear up some things for me, so YEA, really enjoyed this one<3

I'm a huge fan of Holly Jackson, so I was so excited to read this book and was instantly intrigued by the synopsis. As soon as I opened this book I knew that I would not be able to guess the ending and I was not disappointed. I'm already looking forward to reading the next thing that Holly Jackson releases.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
It’s so crazy how you can think “oh I remember this xyz show I watched when I was a teenager, I wish there was a book with a similar plot” and then get to read this book expecting that plot and got hit with curveball after curveball!! It has the same comfort of AGGGTM but either way some characters you can’t tell are reliable or unreliable (and you still can’t help but like them!) I think what I liked best about The Reappearance of Rachel Price is it could be a standalone but is also open-ended enough to become a series (yes please!) Holly Jackson does it again and I can’t wait to see other people’s reactions so I can discuss with them!

Holly Jackson is a must-read author for me. I love her style of writing and characters that are so real and likable. The Reappearance of Rachel Price immediately grabbed my attention and was an adventurous, suspenseful read. Trying to solve the mystery before the book ends and all the twists and turns on the way... It was so fun!! Another 5 star read for me!

4⭐️

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year!

We follow our main characters Bell and her whole family as they are being filmed by a true crime documentary about her mother's disappearance that happened 16 years ago when Bell was 2. During filming something unexpected happens that will change the trajectory of the whole family.

As true crime fan I loved the idea of this book and the execution was done so well but I just didn't feel like a 5 read to me. There were little things like it took me while to get into and Bell was somewhat of an unlikeable character to me it would pull me out of the story.

But over all I would recommend this book especially if you are a fan of:
1) true crime
2) ya thrillers
3) Holly Jackson

I was gifted this arc in exchange for an honest review.

THIS STORY WAS ADDICTING! I was hooked from the beginning to the very end and I can't wait to reread it again!

Bel Price's mom, Rachel, vanished without a trace 16 years ago, leaving behind a cloud of mystery that's hung over their family ever since. But when her dad agrees to be part of a documentary about Rachel's disappearance, Bel reluctantly gets involved. And then, out of nowhere, Bel comes face to face with Rachel herself, alive and well on the side of the road. Talk about a plot twist!

I was totally sucked into Bel's world from the get-go. She's such a relatable protagonist - jaded, cynical, and feeling totally isolated. As she delves deeper into her own trauma and tries to uncover the truth about her family, I was right there with her, hanging on every word.

And let me tell you, the twists and turns in this book? Mind-blowing! Holly Jackson totally nailed it with the plot twists - they were perfectly set up, yet still managed to catch me off guard every time. And the ending? Whew, it had me shook!

But "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" isn't just a mystery - it's also a deep dive into family dynamics, loyalty, and the meaning of justice. It's emotional, thought-provoking, and kept me guessing until the very end.

Seriously, this book was the most fun I've had reading in ages. I was constantly trying to piece together the puzzle, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, Jackson threw in another twist that kept me guessing. It's a wild ride from start to finish, and I loved every minute of it!

MY REVIEW:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is actually the first Holly Jackson novel I've gotten to read. 'A Good Girls Guide To Murder' is on my TBR for series I need to read this year!

As yall know, I've been loving YA thrillers lately, and this one was great. It hooked me from the beginning with the sad story of Bel and her mom, who disappeared 16 years earlier. 💔
Her dad, Charlie, signed the family up for a documentary about the disappearance with a London filmmaker, Ramsey.

Then the book takes a twist!

Then Bel investigates the twist, and there's more lies to follow the twist.

Then MORE twists.

THEN the last like 15% of the book just blew my mind.

I won't go into detail but this story just has some unbelievable twists that will leave you guessing.
(I did guess sort of what happened, but it was still great to hear the original story).

“Letting go of something you love is too hard. Don’t know if I’ll ever make another documentary.”

Rachel Price disappeared 16 years ago leaving behind her husband and their infant daughter. Her disappearance has been a mystery and has been picked up as a documentary. A crew is interviewing and filming Bel and her family to shed more light on the popular case, when suddenly, the title happens. Rachels story of what happened to her has inconsistencies that only Bel seems to find suspicious. Bel is determined to find out what really happened to the mother she never really knew, the only problem is, they live under the same roof and are playing at the happy reunited family when the cameras are rolling.

I literally could not put this book down (I tried) and ended up finishing it in 2 sittings. The story is always moving and knowing Holly Jackson, no detail is too small.

I really loved Bels abrasive personality and thought the author did a fantastic job of painting her character. Her itch to steal small things was a very interesting trait and was consistent throughout the book. Her quick wit and banter made conversations between her and others really fun.

The build up, hints and foreshadowing are done very nicely. The tension in the household always kept things interesting and gave a creepy undertone.

I thought some of the motive/reasoning at the end wasn’t strong enough for the following chain of events. But it was still a great reveal and escalation.

Perfect for fans of Holly Jackson’s other books and Karen M. McManus.

4.5 Stars

A twisty, turny mystery that will have you questioning everything.

What I liked:
- I love a book where you can never tell who is lying and who is telling the truth.
- Bel & Carter's relationship was a bright spot in this book.
- The last 75% of the book had me hooked to the point where I had real trouble putting it down.
- I adored Ash. He is so quirky and easygoing - a great opposite of Bel.

What didn't work for me:
- The first 25% of this book was so slow, I had a hard time getting through it.

Yes, thank you Holly Jackson for yet another good read! What a twisty, suspenseful, keep me reading past my bedtime and make me ignore the laundry tale. I did not expect the ending, or the middle - LOL. I felt the story was well written, with just enough mystery and intrigue to keep me hooked throughout.

The book was intriguing and kept me hooked until the very end. I have read Holly Jackson before and I was not disappointed in this latest book. I liked how realistic the storyline was, the plot and the characters. I can't wait for the next Holly Jackson book.

Okay so I have no idea when I got approved for this e-ARC but I am so thankful I randomly checked my Netgalley one day, because I absolutely devoured this book within 24 hours!

If you think you are a fan of Holly Jackson, just wait until you get your hands on The Reappearance of Rachel Price. A Good Girls Guide to Murder was amazing - Five Survive was downright incredible - but this?! The Reappearance of Rachel Price was a result of mastermind genius. This is by far Holly's BEST book.

This book had all of the ingredients of a genius thriller: a solid plot, mind-blowing plot twists, an eerie and uncanny sense of "hey, something isn't right here...", and an absolutely strong and complex cast of characters!

Bel is our lead protagonist and from the get go we see she's a girl with thorns. She's also deeply protective of those she loves and is (in my opinion) hilarious. However, the more we read, the more we see the deeper reasonings behind those thorns. . .Bel has been hurt and hurt BAD. She's traumatized and in pain.

We see this clearly the moment Rachel Price arrives back onto the scene. . .Bel is hesitant to trust her as she's already not an easily trusting person. But it doesn't help that some pieces in Rachel's story just don't match up. Bel dives headfirst into her own investigation into the truth of her mother's disappearance and her sudden reappearance.

This book was wild and I wish I could fully convey that. Not only was the plot insane, the amount of depth into each character was truly amazing. I loved Bel so deeply before I even hit the halfway mark. I was absolutely dreading what plot twists and truths would be revealed but I.COULD.NOT. put this down! I'm so glad I didn't either.

Thank you so much to GetUnderlined and RandomHouse for approving me of an e-ARC!

"A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" has been one of the most requested novels in my middle grades library since the release of the first book in the series over five years ago. When the series ended I had so many readers waiting for a novel with a similar vibe to take up its mantle. Holly Jackson has done more than that with her newest novel, "The Reappearance of Rachel Price." I hesitate to say it, but I do think this is her best novel yet.

The tension begins building after readers' very first glimpse of Bel Price, a sixteen-year-old being interviewed about the disappearance of a mother that she can't remember. Rachel Price has defined Bel's life from the moment she disappeared leaving Bel stranded in the backseat of her running car on the side of a snowy highway. The entire world is fascinated with the case and Bel feels the intensity of this interest as she remains the only person who saw the abduction, yet was too young to verbalize or remember what occurred. Bel feels her entire life spiraling out of control yet again as filming for a documentary about her mother's case starts. No one involved in the filming was ready for Rachel's sudden reappearance. Just as suddenly as she'd left, she returned, barefoot, dirty, and beaten down, with a story of being held hostage in a basement by a man she never got a good look at.

Bel feels her BS detector is one of her greatest assets, and can feel almost instantly that Rachel is being untruthful with the story of her long disappearance. Bel enters a race against the clock, and against the filming of the documentary as she scrambles to discover the real story of what happened on that snowy highway 16 years ago, and exactly where her mother has spent all of these years.

As a reader of over 100 books a year, I am not often genuinely surprised by a book's plot twist, but Jackson surprised me with the ending in "The Reappearance of Rachel Price." This is sure to be a contender for best Young Adult novel of 2024, and I cannot wait for my preorders to arrive in my library. My kids are going devour this novel, and I can't wait for the squeals, gasps, and the "MS M CAN YOU BELIEVEs..." I coming my way. Thank you to NetGalley and to Delacorte Press for providing me with an Advanced Reader's Copy of "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" in exchange for an unbiased review. I am so glad to have had the chance to pre-read Jackson's newest novel and I can't wait for all of my readers to catch up!!

I am a big fan of Holly Jackson’s books, so I was very excited to receive an advanced copy of this new release. This new book begins with a documentary crew interviewing Rachel Price’s family about her disappearance sixteen years ago under mysterious circumstances. Suddenly, Rachel reappears, throwing her family into a mixture of emotions - confusion, joy, doubt, and even fear. Her daughter, Bel, can’t put her finger on it but knows something is suspicious and begins working with a member of the documentary crew to investigate Rachel’s reappearance. I will say the book did take some time to really get into, but by midway through I was hooked. This one has twists you won’t see coming and is very much worth the read!

This has got to be Holly Jackson's best work yet. The mystery of the entire story was so shocking and unexpected, which is good because I don't like books to be predictable. What started off as one mystery turned into three separate but related parts and it was such a wild ride. I read a few critiques about the pacing being too slow, but I think that makes the story more realistic. Mysteries don't get resolved quickly, and spreading out the events the occurred over time gives the characters more time to build suspense and tension between all of the unresolved situations they are dealing with. Bel's development was also very important to the story. The adjustment to having a mom in her life all of a sudden must have been very difficult, so seeing her be standoffish at the beginning makes sense. I can understand her being a little wary to trust Rachel, but she did go a little over the top trying to prove that Rachel was a bad person. Seeing her realize that Rachel was actually trying to protect her and that wasn't a bad mom was good to see and added a sweet element to the story. My only critique is that there did not need to be a romantic aspect to Bel's relationship with Ash. I think just realizing she can rely on someone and have a friend would have been better for her than trying to add romance. It took away from the importance of her development as a character.

The Good Girl's Guide to Murder series was one of my favorite reads last year, so I was thrilled to see this one from Holly Jackson. The Reappearance of Rachel Price feels very similar to Good Girl - but in a good way! The reader follows Bel Price as she recounts the disappearance of her mother, Rachel Price, to a documentary crew focused on bringing much needed attention to the case. Everyone is convinced that Rachel is dead - including Bel and her father Charlie. However, after a difficult day on set, Bel storms off and runs into a familiar face on the road. Rachel Price - and she's alive. Now that Rachel is back in their lives, Bel has more questions than ever. Where has she been? Why did she choose to come back now? Who is involved? As she uncovers answers to these questions, Bel realizes people she trusts aren't who she thought and must make difficult decisions.

I really enjoyed this one! My only complaint was that I felt Rachel came back a bit too soon in the story. However, the whiplash that happened after her arrival was perfect. I was able to figure a few of the twists out, but Jackson had me completely blindsided by the main plot twist. SO GOOD. If you enjoyed Good Girl's, you'll love Rachel Price.
