Another hit! This is admittedly my least favorite Frieda McFadden book so far. I hated Brooke simply because she’s such a dummy. And the twists were more predictable than usual- but still fun! That epilogue was bone chilling though!!

Freida McFadden books never disappoint me! I love all the twists and turns. Whenever I think I have the book figured out, I don’t. I highly recommend this book!

All of Freida’s books that I have read have been fast paced with a dynamite twist and The Inmate was no exception.
Some of Brooke’s choices were questionable and that made me question whether I wanted it to be one outcome or another. What I didn’t see was the actual outcome; I may have even made an audible gasp at the end when it hit.

Thank you, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press, for my ARC.
The Author books are amazing you can't put it down for a minute and finish it so fast.
The story starts with the FMC Brooke returning to her childhood home after the death of her parents with her 10-year-old son Josh; Brooke leaves her job at an urgent care and gets hired at a maximum security prison. The same prison in which her high school boyfriend and the father of her son is incarcerated at. She helped put Shane behind bars ten years ago after a rainy night at his farmhouse, where after six people went into the house, only three were left alive.
The plot twists are insane, this author know how hook you up, thanks Mrs Freida for not wasting our time.

This was another amazing book by Freida McFadden! I finished it in under 24 hours. I couldn't put it down. As always, McFadden surprises readers with a shocking twist that kept me on the edge of my seat. Even after finishing the book, I keep thinking about all of these characters and how they're all connected. Somehow McFadden intertwines these lives so by the time you get to the end, you think you have everything figured out and BAM! She rips the rug out from under you! Excellent book! I'm addicted.

Ok I’m here for this book!! The twists and turns were insane, I thought I knew what the twist was going to be and it kept surprising me. It is rare for me to absolutely in no way see something coming, so that is why I enjoyed this book so much. Loved the ending epilogue too, it was perfect. I love all Freida's book and this one is up there just like all the other ones.

Let’s ignore how delulu Brooke is and how the story is far fetched. All of the men in the story were sus, but this woman really said “red flags?… we don’t know her.” I’m surprised the police didn’t start questioning her going back and forth with who she thought tried to kill her that night. Putting her son in a position where he’s around both of these men when obviously one of them was the killer was wild too. Like girl, get it together. I really liked the past/present chapters, it made reading a breeze. The ending was enjoyable (don’t forget to read the epilogue). This is my third book by Freida that I’ve read and probably my favorite one so far even though Brooke was a dingbat. 😅

I read this book in ONE day! One of Freida McFadden’s best books! I was hooked from the beginning and even deceived by the characters. I kept going back and forth on who I can trust. It was a ride! Highly recommend!!

I love Freida McFadden books. All of them. She truly never disappoints. I couldn't put this one down. I thought that I kept guessing the ending, but I was wrong every single time. And the ending - OMG!! I really don't want to give away too much about the plot, but it went back and forth between the present and the past. The prison setting was creepy and my heart pounded the entire time I was reading. 5 stars!

This is one of my favorite books by Freida so far. This book kept me engaged till the last page.
Brooke is a nurse practitioner that goes to work for a prison and she knows an inmate from many years ago growing up. She needs this job desperately but the prison rules are you aren't to know or had past relationships with inmates. She continues working and the inmate and her talk she has to treat him a few times. She has a secret she doesn't want this man to know. And this is where I leave off cause the rest of the book has twists, turns, people you want to be good, people you want to be bad, and its ALOT.
If you love a good Feida book like me this is a must read.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC copy of this title.

This was so good and fast paced! I thought I had it figured out and was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. The twist kind of came out of nowhere though.

Thank you, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press, for my ARC of The Inmate by Freida McFadden.
I have been on a thriller kick lately and just finished Ms. McFadden's newest novel, The Teacher when this was sent to me. I enjoyed this book a lot.
You are required to suspend belief a bit with this one. It's hard to imagine that someone who was attacked and has connections to a serial murderer would be hired at the prison in which the murderer is being incarcerated, but it makes for good fiction.
Brooke begins to wonder if it was really Shane who committed those murders all those years ago after her interactions with him at the prison. Ms. McFadden does a great job going back and forth with the dual timelines in this story and makes you wonder if Shane is indeed guilty.
The end of the book was action-packed and left me surprised and delighted.

I couldnt put it down! What an excellent book! So many twists, so much second guessing and back and forth between possibilities.
I just cant get enough! It was one of the best books i have read in awhile!
Brooke is a single mom returning to her home town where some awful events happened. But after the loss of her parents it also was a chance for a new beginning for Brooke and her son. Her new job in a penitentiary brings her face to face with the awful events of her past and has her questioning some of what she thought she knew.
I cant recommend this book enough! Hurry up and run out and get it now!
Thank you to NetGalley, Frieda McFadden and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC.

Just when you think you have it figured out, you don't! Great book that keeps you guessing! I couldn't put it down. And don't forget the epilogue...WOW!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

This was another fantastic book and one that kept me on the edge of my toes! I really enjoyed the book and the suspense that was in it. I never know what will happen in her books and this was the same way!

This was an amazing read in true McFadden style with a major end twist!
It tells the story of a single mother with limited job options taking a job in a mens prison where the man who tried to murder her is housed. He is also the father of her son!
I would definitely recommend this book

Wow!!!! Totally loved this book! My first by the author. A fantastic twisted read! I couldn't put it down. It kept me gripped from beginning to end. Brooke is a strong character. From the beginning I was suspicious of Shane and Tim both. Both sounds guilty and manipulative. It's a book where you are always keep guessing ,whether they are telling truth or not. Several times, I changed my mind. The climax is superb and the last epilogue was utterly shocking. Creatively written mystery thriller. Highly recommend. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

4.5 ⭐️
Frieda honestly never misses for me - even when i see the twists coming i still highly enjoy her books! They’re fast paced, easy reads that keep you on your feet and guessing from page 1.
I kept changing my mind with how i thought this one was going to end and while i had parts of it correct, i wasn’t fully right AND THE LAST EPILOGUE WHAAAAATTTTTT. my jaw was on the ground.
Freida’s books always get me out of a reading slump as well, it’s like old faithful. You know it will hit and keep you entertained and brought back into the page.
I really liked this one - the setting mixed with the various different characters made the tone seem even more erie than the story itself.

Thank you to Netgallery for giving me an early release copy of The Inmate by Fredia McFadden, this book will be available for purchase on March fifth of 2024.
Fredia McFadden has quickly became one of my favorite thriller writers, I love her writing style, the characters are always enjoyable to read, the love interest are good, and the reveals/plot twist are written very well! I’ve been caught off guard quite a few times with her writing! The Inmate was good! The plot twists surprised me and the characters were well thought out, I loved Josh, he was a little sweetheart, I’d love to see a spin off book with him! (That ending scene though… Omg)
There were a few things that bothered me though, nearly every male character included in the book had a attraction to Brooke and it was a little annoying for me, when some of the reveals are going Brooke hopes back and forth between the two love interest, then there’s the reveal scene with Margie that I felt would have been better if it was left out.

Absolutely loved this book! I read it in one sitting! Thus has become a one click author for me! Thanks to the publisher
